For years, Gone South has been a podcast about crime in the American South, but for our
new season, we're widening the lens.
Through deeply reported narrative-driven stories, we're digging into the myths, scandals,
and power structures that still shape the South, and in a lot of ways, the country itself.
Follow and listen to Gone South Season 5, an Odyssey podcast, available now on Apple
Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your shows.
Zach, I know you're not here to get offence, you're here to play defense and kill plays,
but you have it your first two-point game in National Hockey League, what does that mean
to you?
That's pretty cool.
It feels pretty good.
I'm never really chasing it, I at least tried not to, I feel like I get in trouble when
I do, and I'm just trying to play the right way, and good things have always happened
for me, so tonight was one of those nights.
You came off the bench, I don't know if Sirelli saw you or not, but did you see that developing
where he might cough that up?
Yeah, I felt like just how it was kind of happening, it seemed like he wanted to go
middle, so I just stepped there, he obviously didn't see me and just took advantage of it.
What was the message in the first intermission you guys?
Obviously, you have a big lead, you play well, but it's the Tampa Bay Lightning in their
building, you had to be where you go into that middle period, and you got the early goal
and put them on their heels again.
Yeah, it's the message, we'll just keep doing what we're doing, play our game.
It really shouldn't change, no matter what the score is, kind of just stick to that process
and results will come, and I thought we did that.
You guys didn't look tired, I mean three out of four, was it because of the break where
you had three out of four, but you just came out of break, because you guys didn't look
tired at all.
Probably a lot of factors, obviously the break's nice, I just mentally get clear and reset,
physically, I think everyone's in great shape, we're a pretty conditioned team, we can
play 60 against anybody, we prove that tonight.
We'd also like to see your top players produce some, you'll see in the first period, Dalley
and Tugel Olson-Norris, top center, and your top guys are better than their top guys
by a lot.
They're the leaders, you know, you want to follow them when they're going, you obviously
want to help them out anyway you can.
Yeah, they were great, it was awesome for them to start like that, and especially against
the Tampa Bay, like you said, they were going to top in the league, like I'd take advantage
when we can.
You checked in on your guys in Rochester during the break and played a few games down there,
what was that like for you, just to get back for a few games, knowing you'd probably
be back here.
It was good, I'm really close to everyone there, like a lot of those guys are some of my
best friends, and I love being there, I love being here, so like, you know, it's kind
of a win-win for me, I got the best of both worlds.
