Frequently Asked Questions
What can I see without paying?
Search across all transcripts, browse every podcast we index, and for any advertiser see its category, totals, activity chart, first three shows and two real verbatim ad reads. A free account takes that to six shows and ten ad reads, and adds three keyword alerts plus saving and following. Pro removes the caps entirely.
What exactly is an ad read, and how do you know it is real?
It is the sponsor message as spoken, transcribed from the episode audio, with its timestamp, its position in the episode, and any promo code or vanity URL mentioned. We quote it verbatim so you can verify the claim yourself rather than take our word for it.
Do you separate paid sponsorships from brands just being talked about?
Yes, deliberately, and they are never combined. A verified ad read is a paid placement. An organic mention is a brand discussed with no evidence of payment. Conflating the two is the one error that would make this data useless to an advertiser.
What does host-read versus network-inserted mean?
A host-read ad is baked into the audio and identical for every listener, so it reflects a deal with that specific show. A network-inserted ad is stitched in per download, so different listeners hear different sponsors on the same episode. We label which is which, and say "unclassified" rather than guess.
What is an alert, and what can it watch?
An alert watches for a keyword and tells you when it appears. You choose the scope: the spoken transcript, the episode title, the podcast description, or all three. Watching the transcript is the point — it catches things said out loud that appear in no title or show notes. A free account gets three.
How do alerts reach me?
Per alert, you choose a daily email digest or a real-time notification. Free includes three alerts on the daily digest. Listener adds instant email across twenty-five alerts. Pro adds SMS. Business covers a hundred.
What are episode summaries?
Follow a show, switch summaries on, and every time we transcribe a new episode of it you get an emailed briefing written from the transcript — the main topics, who appeared, and any specific claims or recommendations, with sponsor reads skipped. It is for shows you care about but cannot spend two hours on. Free covers three shows, Listener every show you follow, Pro fifteen.
What is the weekly digest of people you follow?
Follow a host or guest and once a week we email you every new episode they turned up on, grouped by person. It reads the people we extract from each transcript, so it catches guest spots the show notes never mention. It arrives Tuesday afternoon unless you pick another day and hour, which you can do on your following page in your own timezone. Weeks with no appearances send nothing. On by default when you follow someone, off in one click, and included on every plan.
How soon do summaries arrive?
Usually within an hour of us transcribing the episode, which normally happens shortly after publication. A summary is written once per episode and shared by everyone following that show, so it does not slow down as more people subscribe.
Can I get the data out?
Pro and Business can export any advertiser’s sponsored shows and ad reads as CSV, which is usually the next step if you are putting a media plan together. Business onboarding covers API access if you need it in your own systems.
How complete is your sponsorship coverage?
Honestly: growing, and not complete. We transcribe around the clock, but a brand is only visible to us once it appears in an episode we have transcribed. Because many shows insert ads dynamically, no tool can give you an exclusive or exhaustive list. Please check a few brands you know before you buy — the free tier exists partly for that.
Do you track how brands are talked about, not just where?
We classify the sentiment of each organic mention from the sentence around it, and we only publish a score once a brand has enough opinionated mentions to support one. Most mentions of any brand are neutral — an earnings date, a product named in passing — so a score built on a handful of remarks would be noise. Where a brand has too few, we say so instead of showing a number.
Can I switch plans anytime?
Yes. Upgrade or downgrade whenever you like from your profile; changes take effect immediately. Annual billing is ten months’ price, so two months free.
How secure is my data?
Your searches, alerts and saved items are yours. We use encryption in transit and at rest, and your content is never used to train public models.
