Yes, I know it's time was out there, but he didn't play the last seven and a half minutes of the game.
You know, and how could he, he didn't finish?
Yeah, just to have the, the lower body we were precautionary with.
But he's okay.
Yeah, uh, well, you don't know if he's going to play them that yet.
As far as these new guys, is it important to just, I mean,
who knows what happens on the one, but to get them in right away,
get them a game at some point in the first days here?
Um, you know, we're going to take a game at a time and you know,
we know what both of them bring, um, be great to get them in.
Um, when the opportunities are there, they'll be in for sure.
Is the change your approach to practice time when there's this many guys on the ice?
It's time to hear.
Uh, yeah, we have to, I mean, obviously we, we add a few extra bodies.
So, you know, we haven't had a practice yet with everybody.
But it will kind of change, you know, how we,
how we present our drills and, and how long we stay out there.
What's it like having a rough view?
I don't think we've seen one this big with as many healthy guys in a long time.
I mean, just the options you have are, it's a pretty unique experience.
Yeah, well, you know, I think when you look at, uh,
you know, number of injuries we've had that, you know,
puts you in this situation, uh, and now we're starting to get healthy finally,
which is a good thing.
So, you know, you manage it, uh, you lay out a plan, um, and, and you just go from there.
You know that at this time of year, the, at different times, you can have sickness,
you can have injuries and those extra bodies are going to be important pieces for us.
He may, yeah.
Just having this, this kind of depth, um, is this allow you to,
the guys that are working to come back to kind of not have to stress about working their way back in,
or is that not right?
No, our focus is just, uh, what, what is the best, uh, help win a hockey game?
That is really our only focus.
What is it going to give us the best chance to win the hockey game?
Uh, to put us in the playoffs.
Well, Washington, uh, you know, made some trades and Carlson here used to sit around,
he's gone, but of course, you know, some of the other guys that are still here, uh,
how do you look at them?
Yeah, well, they've got some dangerous pieces still.
Obviously, you know, uh, OVS still, 20 plus goals.
I think he's the leading point getter on their team.
Uh, we know that we can't hand him opportunities.
They got, uh, they got, uh, a couple of lines.
They got awful big bodies.
They're, uh, they're strong around net front.
We're going to have to be, uh, diligent about, uh, rebounds and making sure we're doing a good job
against, uh, those guys, uh, and then, uh, disciplined, uh, you know, not a lot of their power play
to, you know, to operate too often.
How much do you have to have mortgages on with the puck and perhaps last couple of weeks?
Yeah, you know, we've, we actually spent most of our time yesterday and even this morning,
you know, talking about, you know, 80% of that game was good, but we,
we managed to puck poorly, which probably five times that just careless reckless with,
with the puck that costs us, uh, big opportunities and ended up costing us a goal.
Uh, you know, so we, we kind of reset and refocused and, you know, just said, you know,
we've been going real good.
We got, we got a little bit of sloppy on a couple of those plays and, uh, let's clean it up and,
and get ready for the next game.
And Wendy, when you got players coming in from Canadian heritage teams and you're going to
the visa procedures, is it a matter of hurry up and wait or how do you handle that as a coach?
That's a great question, you, you keep asking the people that are in charge.
Has he got his visa yet?
Uh, you don't know how long that, uh, I mean, last year, I think it was almost a week with,
with Bernard Docker, who came in.
Um, you know, our people try as quickly as they can to, uh, to get that in place.
Uh, you know, that's really out of my pay grade.
The, the immigration visa and the work visa stuff, uh, but every team deals with it and handles it.
And, um, you try to get those players available as quick as you can.
What changed in Tom Wilson's game?
There's the last two or three years all of a sudden, he's a point-gatherer.
And maybe he wasn't, or what have you seen as game that has, he's added that to his game?
Uh, well, he's a, a beast of a man getting to the net for sure.
Uh, he's got good hands. You know, I think the, you saw him, you saw him in the Olympics.
I think the, the, that's what the league and even what Canada thinks of this guy.
He's made himself into a heck of a player.
Uh, on both sides of it, he can be physical, uh, and he can, he can, he can score that.
So you can, he can run your over and get to the net.
He can skate by, I think maybe, you know, you don't watch him, Dan,
but I think probably everything is improved and skating improved his hands have improved.
And he's just become a real good player.
When you have a defenseman, obviously, who is in his biggest family,
is it just a position that you have to play in when he's in front of the net or whatever,
you know, since he's just such a big strong man?
Yeah, I mean, a lot of that time that's controlling the stick, you know,
making sure you underneath that, you don't give him the rebound.
Uh, you know, you can knock him off balance for a second.
You know, if, if he's got position, you're not going to move him.
So then it's making sure you take care of, take care of his stick.
