You were here Sunday for the game, but the visa process held up your entry into the line-up
on the ice. What was that like to go to that process? How do you ever gone up through it before
in the season to get a visa to play? No. The only time and traded that I needed in one was from
Pit to Van and being Canadian. That was easy. I just got to go back across the board and re-enter
as a visa reviewer. I guess we could say. But yeah, usually when I've got a visa, it's kind of
when you sign a contract and you kind of have the summer to figure out it's not
then necessity right away. So, no, that was definitely weird being around. Couldn't skate,
couldn't really do much, but glad we got to figure it out. You were a trade that took a while.
I was after the deadline. When Harmo told us there's another trade, we can't say who it is.
What was that like finding out? Did you think you were staying? How surprised were you to hear
Yeah, I was probably about quarter after the deadline that I found out that something was going on.
But kind of saying about I didn't know where. I didn't know what kind of thing was happening.
But yeah, it kind of probably found out quarter to four maybe right before the trade call happened.
But yeah, we're having a beer. How do you been here Sunday? What's your impression of the buzz
the vibe around this team in the arena in the city right now? Yeah, it's awesome.
You know, I remember coming here with a kid with with my dad and going to those games and
you know, when they're in the playoffs, then it's buzzing. You know, it's such a sports town.
They want their teams to do well. So to see what the board are doing right now,
it's bringing a lot of energy to building. I think guys are feeding off it and everyone's having a blast.
Yeah, I kind of, I don't think there's a forward position I haven't played really. I think
maybe at the start of middle of my career is maybe more a top six guy.
And the past couple of years have kind of been a rover type thing. And I think to the
plan is leading a while, you've got to have to evolve. And I think I've done a good job of doing that.
Just kind of play my game, not get too fancy, be responsible. And I think, you know, it's teams
like that. You're enjoying watching your teammates, the path mentality that they've shown,
not even since you could trade it here. No, 100%. I think, you know, that first night was a
tamper game that I was here right in. You know, when everyone's pulling like that and stepping
up for each other, it shows a lot about the group and how much confidence they have in
each other and how close they are. So the kind of locker room like that is it's special.
Like I said before, the guys that have a lot of energy, but they're playing for one another
and this time of year, it was a long way. Can I what do you bring to this team to help
its playoff pursuit? Experience, you know, that kind of thing. But yeah, being around,
not sure too many guys, how many of you guys have playoff games. But yeah, experience I think
is the biggest thing, responsibility and play a simple, strong game. What was that process like for
you going like the mental and also like playstyle process going from top six to all right, we need
to board like a checking roll. Yeah, I was kind of after that crazy year in Van were miss the three
quarters of year or whatever and after that was a 30 years old coming back trying to get it going
again. It's, you know, you're just happy to be back at that point and I think I was good where I
was put, but I think the way I was brought in and lead on such a defensive team in L.A.
has kind of helped me with that and if I had to play defensive role, I played defensive role.
It's kind of what our bread and butter was back then and that's how I learned it coming in.
What do you think him is? You know, player you come in to NHL, when the Stanley Cup went right
away, you know, you think it, oh wow, you know, this is what we do. It's going to happen a lot
or whatever. Yeah, well, I was a two and second and third year. So, no, it's, yeah, I say I was
privileged, right? I come in, I play, I think 25 regular season, 25 playoff games and how a Stanley
Cup and, you know, I always saw a story of, you know, seeing Robert Ruggier lift the cup like
him was 18th year, lifting that cup and that was that was special for a young guy, I think,
but yeah, I think it was good for me to come into an organization that has won before, they're all
winners and how they carry themselves, they end day out and the leaders there, it, you know,
