That first three-four minutes, we started good.
Tuck in alone, skated well, had three opportunities.
But we can't start the game with taking two penalties
like we did that just fueled their energy.
Got their special teams going.
You know, they got a dangerous power play
and they took advantage of it.
That is a discipline tonight.
I mean, like, I guess, four-hives to go to any events.
Wasn't good enough.
No, for sure.
We've been so good with this most of the year.
But the last two games that take the early penalties.
You know, the Stanley penalty, the high-sticking penalty.
So those are penalties that we have to stay away from.
You know, when you do that, you're going to end up
you're going to pay in a price.
And they made a spare price for the penalties we took.
Alex Lyon talked about adversity.
He was going to probably come at some point here
and drop three in a row now.
You get a game tomorrow, which is probably a good thing.
What is the key to kind of overriding this little bump?
You know, I think the first period is the key.
Playing a good first period.
You know, when you get down by a cup
and you start chasing the game, it makes it hard
because it seems this time of year
just going to go into prevent and make sure
there are people back.
And we left a lot of opportunities out there, obviously.
I thought their goalie made a couple of pretty big saves
of key times.
But I think for me, it's going to boil down
to how we come out in that first period tomorrow.
Where were the breakdowns in the penalty kill
and what needs to be rectified quickly
for our tomorrow with that?
Well, it failed clear on the second one.
You know, it cost us the first one.
Just, you know, we gambled a little bit
on coverage right off the bat.
And they threw it to the net.
So it was more of a, you know, we were going to go
with kind of what we call three point pressure.
And we didn't take a great route, which gave them
the opportunity to throw that first pocket the net,
which, you know, I think if, if it doesn't get tipped first,
you can handle that shot, but he tipped it
so that redirection gave a rebound
that went right back to him.
You've skated well as a group, obviously,
in the second period like we've seen so much this year.
But in these two games, especially Boston and Detroit,
how much are our teams really starting to clamp down
on your choke down a little?
Well, you know, I think the, as a group, we didn't skate at all.
I mean, we, you know, I looked at our numbers
and our numbers were way down for the Boston game.
I thought we came up.
We were skating really good right off the bat.
We were driving through the middle of the ice.
We were, we were taking guys one on one.
Our skate, I don't think our skating was an issue tonight.
And we generated, we just didn't finish.
There's some good opportunities there
whether we didn't take advantage of.
You take advantage of those opportunities.
And all of a sudden, you're going to like some of those plays
when we were going up ice, but we didn't quite connect on them.
I thought, you know, for the start of the,
you look at the start of the first period
to a three of those opportunities were
because I thought we skated well.
Team seemed to be interesting early in games
against the last three.
Is there something to do?
What's that? Sorry.
Team seemed to be pressing very hard against you very early
in the games last few.
Something to do to maybe...
Well, again, I'll go to the first five minutes.
You know, I thought we came out good.
Wasn't that they were pressing and put us under dress
and hamdus in our end.
We, I thought we broke the puck out well and had,
you know, we had some good opportunities.
I think I go back to the Boston game
four of our first five opportunities they blocked
or we had a stick or we had a skate
at the start of the Boston game.
And if those plays get through,
we've got a really good luck.
And those are kind of the months of night
that I thought we didn't quite connect
on some good opportunities.
Part of your message in the first animation
is there's still 40 minutes left in this game.
Oh, yeah, for sure.
I mean, I talked about the penalties we took.
That I just felt the way we were skating
we could put them under dress
and I thought we did put them under a lot of dress.
We just didn't take advantage of enough opportunities
when I don't know what the shots were.
The final shots were in that period,
but I really felt we probably got to add six or seven more.
