这是关于Suede的音乐创作故事。1995年7月，乐队结束演出后回录音棚准备新专辑。新成员Richard Oakes加入后，创作方式有了变化。他从贝斯手Matt那借了录音机开始写歌，像《Picnic by the Motorway》最早是他尝试创作的作品之一，最初歌名是《Lovely Day》。在《Coming Up》专辑中，很多歌曲创作方式不同。比如《Filmstar》和《She》是Brett Anderson在家即兴哼唱，音乐随之而来。而之前两张专辑多是Bernard Butler写好乐曲再由Brett Anderson填词。这些变化展现了乐队创作的新探索。
