Burnie and Ashley discuss 10 year looks, relationship roles, planning to escape, Laguardia updates, plane recline debate, zipper merging, go rounds, iPhone anniversary edition, and why life in the walled garden.
No, okay, so I think I have a decent one um a million dollars, but for the rest of your life you lacked a
Good
Why do you where you are because it is
Or March 24th, 2020 six my name is Bernie Burns sitting right over there
Her attempts to distract me and throw off my timing failed miserably. It's actually birds
Wait, hold on what attempts dude the look that you shot me right as I started this
You would just like shot me like the most dead pan yet somehow dagger-filled eyes
I don't know what that look was at all. I don't know what that look was either that was subtle like that was not the look
You interpreted the look as that's a look you don't get until you've been together at least 10 years
That look that look emerges somewhere. Well, there's it. It's a nice thing with with really like long relationships where
The relationship can encompass the full range of emotion from like I could murder you to I love you so much in the center of my world
Yeah, yeah both things can be true when you say you could murder me
You mean morally you could like come up with a rationale for doing it or there's methods that you could use to kill me
Because I'm sleeping next to you and that kind of thing probably both
But it's gonna involve a pillow and because you were snoring. Oh, no, we're talking procedurally here
How far are we into the planning of this thing?
Like coming to you soon morning somewhere is a true crime podcast
How would you get out of the country if you had to like do it? Is that in your head at all? No, God no really like if you had to get out of the country
Suddenly you wouldn't like or whatever go on the lamb. You have no plan for that at all. No, inflatable
Motorboat, okay, I guess I've worked through that. That's not gonna work
We can talk about this later. You have some homework to do you have no plan like if you had to go like if right now
Something happened and you had to go on the lamb. You got no plan. I got no plan
But also like what do I do have like a go bag somewhere now?
Yeah, I'm not talking no bag. You just have no idea where it's you're making it up on the fly
You know why is because like you take care of like all of the doomsday stuff for us, right?
And I'm I'm we also have different approaches to that like something in the world happens
And you're like we should order rations and I'm like you should order beans and rice mother fucker
Is there anything like in our relationship now or this is welcome to the Paras social Tuesday podcast everybody?
Is there anything in our relationship that has like fallen unto you in terms of duties where you're like
How did this get to be my responsibility?
Childbearing. Well, that's like
What am I gonna do that seems unfair? Dude, I read some horror stories. It was
It was I didn't read it. It was a real by a nurse talking about like top five things as a maternity ward nurse that she hates that men do it was very
A lot of men in the comments were angry
But when you heard her talking about stuff that people do the number one on the list was
Guys who show up and ask where can I hook up my Xbox?
Yeah, and they like with their trip. They're like getting the lady settled in because she's begun labor and
He's like well, can you help me with this TV? Like where can I where's an HDMI port or where she's like?
She's like when did this happen when did this start and I have seen photos of like a
Baby being delivered and walked over and handed to a guy who sets down a controller to like go and hold the baby at that point
That seems like something you would see in a movie about a girl who needs to leave a relationship and start a new life with her baby
Because she needs to get out from under this loser. That's I would say that's a problem, right?
That's a problem at that point look don't get me wrong video games love them so much fun big part of my life always have been
Labor and delivery. Yeah, maybe slightly more worth it
I mean, it's just like some two trying to go being like all about my guilds rating today. I mean no with the next box
I guess destiny they could do that right sure so going back to the original point though
There's nothing that you've picked up because I'm leading up to me complaining about something. Oh boy great
Not want to miss that opportunity
By making someone fair. I wash a lot of dishes. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, I get that I get that like yeah, I get that your turn
No, it just seems worse than this because it doesn't come up as often
You do do a lot like I'll come down. I'll be like did you do the dishes? You know again
I'm like I was coming down to do this and you're like nope. I already did it
So I got I gotta get faster sure you work. Go ahead. What's your complaint?
Do we not just have that conversation literally like yesterday or last night?
Yes, where I was coming down to like I had a pan and I watched the pan and you I was soaking the pan and you like got there before I did and I was like
But I but I greatly appreciate that you did that
I do I book everything like
You book all the travel and hotels and stuff like that
I book all that stuff and I I don't like booking
So I hate it. I hate it so much. I hate it so much
Why is it when you go to book something like you're gonna go stay somewhere and it goes great
All done are you ready to do this like you're ready to pull the trigger
Commit the money to it also once you hit yes here
We're not gonna allow you to change anything ever again
Even if you call us back like in the next two minutes. You're locked it. It's too late. This is go time
The trip is six months away
But as soon as you hit this button, it's like we've never heard your name before who the fucker you you can't change anything huge commitment button, right
Why don't they put all the information on that screen like some of the travel stuff doesn't even put the dates on that part that's great
It needs to be a full review if you're asking me to confirm give me the goddamn information to confirm
It's just like kids stand there. I want the dates and what the details. I want the the the seated assignments. I want to know
What beds are in there you need you need to what time to check exactly I need everything I need every last detail on that screen before I hate commit
And then I hit commit and I go and then you meet like come and go. Oh, we can't go on that day
I used to book all the travel early in rooster jeez. I used to book all the travel. I booked all the fractal travel. Did you really did that would be a nightmare?
That would be a nightmare. That would be a nightmare
There was a lot of it. There's like oh can you fly me on this airline instead because that's where you know
I like to get my points and it's like we all need to land at the airport at the same time you realize that right if I put you on a different flight
Then you're not landing the same time. That's that's not gonna work
Where I hit mine on that was I was booking people
For stuff and like for an event and all that stuff and I'd say here's your itinerary
Please by the way come back within the next 48 hours and tell me if this is okay
Like if I send you somebody send you an itinerary
It's so much work to get to that point where they send you an itinerary. They got the ticket on hold
Please just look at it if you're in that situation just look at it right away, right?
So I gave up on it one time when it's like you're trying to herd cats like five different people and they all want to go from a different airport
But can I stay in extra two days because we're going to New York and you know my wife's gonna come and then we want to stay in New York
It's like can you just then book your own and expense it or whatever
The where I hit my limit though was uh
It was it's like your flight leaves Austin at two o'clock and we arrive at Chicago
At six p.m. And somebody goes
Two o'clock's kind of early got anything around like three thirty. I was like fly you book your own book
I was like an hour and a half
It took me an hour and a half to like get this itinerary in your hands and you want to like
Keep bump it like can you like check out some other flights later in the day for me
It's like now. I'm not in the traveling and fuck off you do it and did they
Yeah, yeah, no, I gave up on it and the that mantle of like the person who books all the travel
Past from person to person over the years and everybody ended up hating everyone else at the company
Who uh traveled anywhere because of course it's the worst. It's the worst. It's the worst
It's never as easy as it seems like it ought to be right right it ought to be easy
But it's not bridging from this. I saw real the other day and I had I connected two things that are completely not connected in any way
There is a debate and I'm not gonna tell you where I fall in this debate because it's a very personal thing
And people act like there's rules about it, but there's really not any rules about it
And people will say like oh no, there's definitely like a situation in the etiquette for this
I've never seen it published anywhere. I don't know what it is
On an airline on an airplane. Okay, when you sit in an airplane seat you paid for the airplane seat
Yes, right
One of these unwritten etiquette rules is that if you're in the middle seat you get both arm rest
That's not written anywhere. That's not that's a center rule with any kind
But people have strong opinions about that one way or the other
The biggest thing though on airplanes that people have very strong opinion about
I feel like 50% of the world falls on one side 50% of the world falls on the other side
Can you recline your seat?
If you're sleeping if you're sleeping you can recline your seat. Okay, I mean that's what it's for right the um
Although there are people who are like you never recline no matter what death
I would say that's probably half the people in the world say you should never in any situation ever recline
An airline seat even though there's a button on the
Hand rest that reclines the seat. It's what it does. I see the other people are like I paid for the seat
I can recline you can recline go ahead and recline
Once again, I'm not taking sides here because I don't want to alienate 50% of the people who listen to this podcast
People have very strong opinions about this. They do very strong opinions about they do
I will say the the one case in which is kind of
Quite rude to recline the seat is when the meals come through
Because you were trying to like eat up against a reclined seat. That's just difficult for everyone
I think the flight attendants in that situation will tell you to go upright if they're serving meals at that point
So that that rule is written. I think
If the flight attendant says it it's a rule
But then again the flight attendants could enforce different rules on their flight in particular
There's no like regulation by the FAA
That says you have to have your seat in an upright position while someone is eating behind you never seen that one
Did you watch the video by the way of the laguardia crash at all?
I didn't watch the video
I saw some of the
Photos of the aftermath and it was astonishing to me
The details that I read so this is about a plane at laguardia that
Had a collision on ground with I believe was like a fire yep response truck
And the the truck came across the the planes path as it was coming in
I believe it had landed and it had largely slowed it was something like 25 miles an hour
But
You wouldn't think that was possible given the entire front of the plane is just like this twisted metal wreckage
I guess it's a lot of mass. It's yeah, it's so big
You know, you get that like was it the conservation of momentum you get something that big
It doesn't have to be going that fast to have a lot of momentum. So
I saw some of the
Photos of the the wrecked plane
And I heard the both the pilot and co-pilot died. Yes, they did they both died. Yep
So it's it's there was also speculation that there was only one
Air traffic controller in the tower. There's now been an update saying there was more than just one person
In the air traffic controller tower. Yeah, I did hear that this was um that it wasn't like an air traffic control
Mistake and I heard I did hear that part. I heard them talking the the clip they released the audio clip of them
Trying to tell the truck to halt and it was too late
It's pretty it was pretty fast, right? I mean it was stop stop stop stop stop then truck one stop stop stop stop stop, right?
So you hear stop stop stop
Maybe everyone who hears that would just immediately stop
But not everyone in the vehicle has the ability to just hit the brakes if you're landing a plate
Then they're immediately telling another plane go round go round go round
Which is like I have you ever been on a plane that did it go round?
Yeah, where I've been on one where like it was so close to landing
And then just and then up in a way it goes and everyone on the plane goes
The flip just happens. That's a pretty scary feeling
Yeah, because you're going to land and all of a sudden the engines kick back up and the plane just takes off again
Yeah, and then there was this one guy on the plane. He's like so can we recline our seat? Right. Can I recline now?
We're going back up. Can I recline?
So the connecting the two things that I think are completely unrelated. I had a theory
That I think the same thought process right that informs one will inform a different situation
Okay, the other transportation situation. I don't know why associated these two things
I think there's a perfect Venn diagram overlap and then people who think
What's gonna not take a sec?
People who think that you shouldn't recline a seat on an airline are also the same people
100% unanimous
Participation in circle vent diagram. You should not go to the end of emerging. Oh, I see that you
You should merge as soon as possible to the end. Yeah, right. You should
Merge as soon as you see that your lane is ending whenever you see the sign
That's when you merge so that you can throw filthy looks at all the people that are driving past you in the lane
That's gonna merge while they go to the end to zipper in have you ever seen anyone who does the thing where they block the other lane
I have I have that's that's the that's a level that's a level far beyond passive aggressive into just straight aggressive
Right and people like one thing will say I have a recline button
I'm allowed to recline and you're allowed to recline
Those same people I think would tell you it's still a lane until it's not a lane
This is how a zipper merge works, right? But then the other people are like
We live in a society. Okay, you know, there's rules and what you can and can't do
But then there's also what you should and shouldn't do and that's the difference
What can you do versus what should you be to be kind and to just get through our day together? So I'm curious. I'm curious if
For audience out there if you believe one, but not the other where do you fall in the other like do you do line up with those
Well, tell you what while we're having this very hypothetical Tuesday. I have a question for you the billion things going on in the world
We're talking about this go ahead. Okay
When does a drink become a potion a solid news day here actually
When does the drink become a potion? Yeah, like when is it stop being just like a beverage and become a potion
and I ask this because
I've been experiencing with like combining the health benefits of drinks lately where in the morning
I have been putting a scoop of chocolate protein powder in my coffee and then I also add like just a little drizzle
A little like mint syrup to just give it that like little sweetness and then because I recently read that creatine dissolves
Better in hot water and then cold so you don't get that like gritty taste to the creatine put it in a hot drink
Right, so now I can have this coffee that's got the caffeine of the coffee plus the health benefits of creatine
And also protein, right? So this is like this is a fully beneficial. That's a potion drink. That's a potion, right in arguably
That you what you have made as a potion. It's no longer a beverage. It's now a potion
But if I have coffee and I put in milk non-opposition still just a drink
Okay, so is this the number of ingredients or is this like this is have to do with combining?
Uh, I don't know. I think it's number of ingredients. That's why brain is going number of ingredients
Yeah, but you get one of those like
Triple vanilla fraps with a double pump of caramel syrup. What is that now a potion?
It's not a health benefit thing, but it's got a lot of ingredients to it
I want to say three ingredients. I'm going to go with coffee here, right? Okay, because you're the one doing the mixing
Right if it's pre-mixed to gives a shit. There's no such thing as a pre-mixed potion. That's a drink always right sure
If I have coffee and I had put in milk and sugar not a potion. That's a pretty normal standard drink
I think right. I don't I don't take my coffee. Okay, but if you now if you put in milk and sugar and
syrup, what if you got now you got a potion? I think that's a potion
The right ingredient limit. So if you go to a Starbucks actually like
Like a potion store. Yeah, they're an apothecary. I'm gonna refer to Starbucks is an apothecary from Taiwan
I like this. I like this. It really changes my game at Starbucks
So do I want a drink or do I want a potion? Which one do I want? You can't handle my potions
Potion seller listen to me
I want only your strongest potion
Such an innocent time when potion seller was one of the most popular things
That was uploaded to YouTube 14 years ago impossible 14 years impossible
That's a YouTube's not that old YouTube didn't exist. Do we have a 20 year old video on YouTube?
We did I want to say my date the zoo we in fact we talked about it
When it turned 20 years old it was it was a big moment. Yeah, so that's got to be like coming up that can that video can drink now 20 years ago
Me at the zoo by Jawed Karim the
silent co-founder of
YouTube not that silent he was the first youtuber co co co co co-founder left to go finish graduate school
Would you say that makes him the first influencer?
Right would make him the first
How many ingredients makes an influencer?
Would have been the first influencer. Maybe Perez Hilton Harry Knolls although that's kind of yeah, but no
I mean yeah, but he but he was right that uh
in a cool news was
Was the movie first like one of the first big movie blogging websites that was by consumers not by the trade. Yeah, strong
By fans early influence strong bad was very was very influential first V2
He's got to rename everything now. It's all relevant again. Yeah, Perez Hilton was in the news recently because he's been in the hospital for some like 21 days
Weird. Yeah, he got a this is according to a thing. I was just read it really quickly
Uh, he was got the flu and then was prescribed medication that you have to take with food and he didn't take it with food
Um, he the consequences are that dire if you don't take it with food. I didn't read the whole article
I'll have to admit, you know what I mean? It's just I was curious about it and uh
Yeah, it's so I guess it did something to his digestive tract because he didn't take it with food and that's like
It was in his words a stupid mistake and he wanted people to learn from it as well
Yeah, that was a like a don't be like me. You think he's a seat recliner. What's that?
Let's find out
The hospital see if he merges
This is a permerge I like that. I'm staying out of this. I'm innocent in all this
I'm just presenting all the different scenarios
You don't really well so far. I'm spending like staying clean
Well, here's what you did is like you walked in you walked in the fray you dropped a bomb
You're gonna get everyone to fight and then you're just gonna know about it there
Did you read this article by the way? We're talking about transportation stuff apple maps is gonna be rolling out ads
Yeah, it looks like a terrible headline
But it could be something as simple as like when you look at the location
For a store or something it has sponsored versions of that which seems pretty normal
But also, it's like does apple maps really need to be doing anything to make apple maps a less attractive
Product to use like does anybody use apple maps like okay, if you let's say you have the choice
Do you ever opt for apple maps instead?
No, I go with the first map influencer map quest. That's what I
They still around map quest turn by turn directions. Let's see map quest is it still around?
I like how map quest took us from hey, what if everyone had a paper map in their glove box to
What if we all just printed out a billion maps, right? We all just printed that stuff
You know, but it was well, it was great because it would give you like you're gonna come up to this road
And then go like point seven miles and then you're gonna take a right and you'd have to do a lot of this yourself where you would like
Did you reset your like Tripodometer and be like already?
Okay, point seven. I we need to get this to like point seven
Yeah, I haven't done that in a long time, but I definitely remember doing that
And if you missed your turn you were like shit. I just fell off the edge of the world
Well, the also map quest would send you off the edge of the world quick find the nearest
Apothecary and will remap
We can get a travel potion
Yeah, like those there was always those things you were like have you like drive through the harbor or something like that
There were actually cases of dying where they just followed the directions and went down boat ramps and shit like that
Yeah, that was a big thing. I remember the the major headlines when apple maps first released was
It giving someone instructions to like drive across the Atlantic
Which it sounds really silly now, but it's kind of like like
That would be on a different level. That would be like the full self-driving stuff now
At some point full self-driving will be like why why did we fight this because it'll be so good
You'll be like I didn't have a license. I don't want to drive a vehicle
People used to drive these things manually on their own forget about it
I mean it was at the same time. It's like there's always a resistance to any level of technology
Well like like digital maps people are like no you'll die if you use a digital map, right?
You're gonna drive yourself right into a ditch right which to be fair people did
People drive themselves in a ditches all the time
And I get it. I get it. I we've followed maps before where I'm like are we sure this is taking us to the right place
And it's like well, it's that's where the map says to go and well, then we're like oh great
The road is just closed now. What are we gonna do? It insists that we go through we have no way we can't make it tell us
Another way it just wants us to go through the closed road. I like how you're telling the story like it happened 10 years ago
No, it didn't happen. It happened like a couple weeks ago five hours to get home from Edinburgh. It's terrible
It was it was a five hour three-hour drive and it was
In the middle of the night and it was awful. Yeah, yeah, but we had to go over the top of a mountain called the Cairn gorms
And it's like a ski slope and they just like nah we close this road and maybe you were told us when we got to it
Hey, this road is probably close eight people have reported a close in the last hour. It's like then why
Why and knowing that but like all right, let's try and reroute let's will take will just back out
Put in the destination again
It says nope goes through that road that closed road right there. You can't it's it was awful
We could have done it. We could have cut that lock and I was close
I can't I can't tell you how tempting it was to just drive myself into a ditch
You're from a mountain town. Why do they do that because they just like they don't want to deal with the rescue shit or something like
Okay, well first of all don't be putting that on Utah because we don't close roads there you close
You like your canyon or whatever all the time. Oh, I mean close so we got to go this way
Well, yeah, didn't we have to go through like is it 10 p.m. Have a lunch in 10 p.m. It was gonna the canyon was gonna close at 10 p.m.
And we had to go the other way and it was longer um
Maybe I don't remember that but uh
Shut up
I'm not wanting to squarely on Utah
When I know but like when I was a kid there was no like uh
I left about this all the time and we get uh snow
Closures for the schools here and I'm like man
Utah was great about plowing everything where like the plows were out at 4 a.m. You think you're getting a day off school
Absolutely not I when I first started using apple maps
I got full-on-shamed because it was like the first party apple my iPhone and people were like you use
Apple map for a long time. It was like the default
It is better than what it was it was kind of when it first started and now it seems like I
Feels like that was recently, but that was probably 15 years ago
When I get my iPhone I have apple maps. Oh gosh. I feel like it didn't apple
I'm gonna look at one of apple maps launched because I want to say it was like pre-2008
Dear lord one of the iPhone launch because we wouldn't have I wouldn't have used apple maps until I had an iPhone
I'm way up. I'm I'm conflating completely different times that I lived in cermets this go
Apple maps released uh
The 19th of september 2012
2012 the first iPhone launched June 29th
2007
So 2007 so five five year gap there
It's weird. It feels like very recent and also ancient history as well
But the iPhone's gonna be 20 years old next year. Oh, are we gonna throw it a party?
Yeah, so I look forward to that. They'll be can you imagine the 20th anniversary
Edition of the iPhone. It'll be amazing. It'll be like an android phone from 15 years ago
So finally catch up on every time every time I will be when we get excited about some features
They've got it and everyone's like androids had this for years. We've had this for seven fucking years
Do you ever feel like a little bit bad for all the android users that are like you want these features?
Just get yourself a goddamn android
We've had all these wonderful features that you're so excited about and we've had them for years
And you can have all these things and we're like
Yeah, you know, it's funny about that. I don't feel bad at all
I know I know that iPhone is like this weird dumb ivory tower with a bunch of really dumb people in it
Who are spending too much on their phones and getting too little for it and I'm still like totally fine with that
I don't know why I don't know why what it's I bitch about it constantly and I still won't change the android
It's because you've got so much invested in the platform
Right like you you've got so many like apps that you've purchased or subscriptions that are through this or like all these things that
And the other
Thing that it shouldn't be as important as it is is it's like it's easy. I know how it works
Right like I will acknowledge that um that like Macbooks they were
Everyone who had a MacBook and like knew how to use them love them anytime
I tried to inner face with like Mac OS. I'd be like I just don't know how I don't know the shortcuts
I don't know where to look for the stuff
I feel this is I feel like my parents asking me for tech support like I get it now
Right where I'm just looking at thing and it just doesn't make sense to me
I don't know where the thing goes. I don't know where to find it
And I'm going to go back to the familiar thing that I know
Remember I had a thing the other day where I had a app on my iPhone and I can search for it and I can see it
And it's like I just want to know what folder it's in like right
Because you've got like all the little like boxes like the folders that have like all the icons and here's the thing
Which I couldn't find I had to search folder by folder. It couldn't get it to tell me
Where does this thing live on my phone?
Well, and I remember because I looked this up for you
Uh, and I was like here's what you do you just drag you know drag down to search find the app
And then you can tap it and pull it out of search out out of search into wherever you want it to live
the fun part about that is
It's still in whatever folder you lost it in it's just also now in the new folder. Are you sure about that?
It's also on the home screen as well. I mean, these are all home screen
But they're just like folders on the home screen. I think you might have two icons on the home screen
That's something that we should test
But either way you like you yeah, you had to go and like pick it out of search also another thing too is like
This is on windows. I don't know how much you do this kind of thing on windows
I do it all the time because there's so many files associated with like the back catalog of first teeth
When you go to search for something windows has this thing now like when you're in explore and you go to search for something
It puts you in like some kind of search mode like search view
That's different than like your file explorer and it's like yes, and then you get a fight your way out of it
It's like I'm not like hey, you know what I want to do today. I want to spend the morning searching for stuff
You search for one thing. I don't want to stay in search. What is that like who thought that that's a good feature
I kind of figured out how to turn that thing on that feels like that feels like a work around that
Worked just well enough for so long that they're like now it's fine
It's so
Going back to the Apple thing and tell me wrong here because I will take a side here on this
And I know there'll be instances where people can tell me I'm wrong
And probably like give like specific things that have happened
But the thing over time with Apple that I like is like they have
Enough power to be like
Fuck you. We're not doing that like we're not we're not
Like the when they introduce the thing where it says like hey all these apps are tracking across all the other things
We're just going to put it out to the users and everyone's like don't do that
We don't want you to do that because this is a valuable data that we want to collect on everybody apples like fuck you
No, we're going to turn this off or ask him if we want to do it
I also feel like you don't have instances where like you find out oh Apple sold all of our data to somebody
You know what I mean?
Or even they're like walled garden shit that costs 30% to get into if you're an app developer
I just feel like it's like they have enough power and they use it in the right ways right
They're not just constantly trying to like hey, how can we grab more data from our users and like fuck them over in some weird way
You know, they make weird decisions all the time
For their own first party stuff like not putting a calculator on an iPad forever for what reason who the fuck knows
I think we ended up with the reason and it was that um, they thought it wouldn't be aesthetic
I think it was Steve jobs didn't want it to appear
Like it's a giant calculator like the because he knew people would have pictures of that and he just didn't want that
So for even like 10 years after his death there was no calculator
I
Like get over it don't let it's full screen whatever yeah make it make it a half screen app do a
gigantic border around it with a tiny calculator in the middle you like you can figure this out
There are options. I'm gonna use a word that you probably shouldn't use for a giant multi-national trillion dollar corporation
But I feel like I trust Applemore and maybe that'll come back to bite me really hard at some point
But even with like the age verification thing we were talking about the other day
If Apple has a solution to anonymously push that out
And I can get through without getting nagged on all that stuff because the laws are requiring that to take place
I trust Apple with that more than I would trust like giving that information to the website itself
Yeah, or being like here. Palantir just take my data
Um, yeah, I like a couple of the things that Apple has done
And one of those is like they're like yeah, we don't like your touch ID or your face ID
It's sort on the device like we don't have that in the cloud somewhere
We don't keep any of that you're you're wallet all those things those don't
Just like magically get backed up anywhere else. They're on your device. They're yours. We don't keep them
The first thing with Apple is they have the nice little wall guard
Which makes them safe
But then anytime you try to like go outside the walls the walls keep getting higher and higher
That's a problem with Apple you're like I can't just do this is like no the trouble is people keep trying to escape
We just ran into this recently. We got this really pretty
device
For guests who come here to see us it's the puck, you know
Yes, it's a walnut puck with like little pewter like Wi-Fi symbol on it. It's very pretty
And it's great
And then you just take your phone and you tap it on it and it adds you to the Wi-Fi network
So when people come over for a drink or whatever go you want Wi-Fi just tap on that little cool thing right there
unless you have an iPhone
Because they won't let you tap to join a Wi-Fi network and get the Wi-Fi credentials
Because it would be a potential security threat which I get if someone put one of these in a bar top or something in a public bar
Then people see do you want to join this number like sure, you know, why not?
Right, it just automatically puts you on one of those networks that
Is just siphoning all the traffic and watching everything you do and so this really pretty puck if you have an iPhone
You can't tap it you got to turn it over and there's like a scan the QR code sticker with a QR code on the back
Which is so so much less
aesthetically pleasing but I get why they do it but there's and there's no way around it. There's nothing you can do about it at all
Yeah, it's just it's just not something that they have any intentions of changing because the puck is really pretty
So you do get a lot of like no fuck you that works in your favor
But you also get it sometimes the words annoying, but you kind of do that for all the other stuff
Yeah, so what you're saying it's it's like a long-term relationship
Speaking of which you should update your iPhones if you got them because they're like literally one of these exploits came out that could put
Millions of iPhones at risk and like the top comments about it are like this has already been patched
You it should have already updated for you so it should be fine if you haven't updated the update
And then the problem with this is oh
Anybody who's got an iPhone 9 can't update to this OOS because it's the cutoff for it so they would be
Subject to that exploit. So you've been an iPhone 9 you might want to look at that look that up
Well Bernie, you know the best part about that exploit though is Android's had it for years
The exploit right? Yeah, they've got the exploit
All right, well before we go. I want to say a big shout out to today's apothecaries
