6:11I used to book all the travel early in rooster jeez. I used to book all the travel. I booked all the fractal travel. Did you really did that would be a nightmare? That would be a nightmare. There's like oh can you fly me on this airline instead because that's where you know I like to get my points and it's like we all need to land at the airport at the same time you realize that right if I put you on a different flight Then you're not landing the same time. That's that's not gonna work Where I hit mine on that was I was booking people For stuff and like for an event and all that stuff and I'd say here's your itinerary Please by the way come back within the next 48 hours and tell me if this is okay Like if I send you somebody send you an itinerary It's so much work to get to that point where they send you an itinerary. They got the ticket on hold Please just look at it if you're in that situation just look at it right away, right? So I gave up on it one time when it's like you're trying to herd cats like five different people and they all want to go from a different airport But can I stay in extra two days because we're going to New York and you know my wife's gonna come and then we want to stay in New York It's like can you just then book your own and expense it or whatever The where I hit my limit though was uh

7:14It was it's like your flight leaves Austin at two o'clock and we arrive at Chicago At six p.m. And somebody goes Two o'clock's kind of early got anything around like three thirty. I was like fly you book your own book I was like an hour and a half It took me an hour and a half to like get this itinerary in your hands and you want to like Keep bump it like can you like check out some other flights later in the day for me It's like now. I'm not in the traveling and fuck off you do it and did they Yeah, yeah, no, I gave up on it and the that mantle of like the person who books all the travel Past from person to person over the years and everybody ended up hating everyone else at the company Who uh traveled anywhere because of course it's the worst. It's the worst. It's the worst It's never as easy as it seems like it ought to be right right it ought to be easy But it's not bridging from this. 8:15And people will say like oh no, there's definitely like a situation in the etiquette for this I've never seen it published anywhere. I don't know what it is On an airline on an airplane. Okay, when you sit in an airplane seat you paid for the airplane seat Yes, right One of these unwritten etiquette rules is that if you're in the middle seat you get both arm rest That's not written anywhere. That's not that's a center rule with any kind But people have strong opinions about that one way or the other The biggest thing though on airplanes that people have very strong opinion about I feel like 50% of the world falls on one side 50% of the world falls on the other side Can you recline your seat? If you're sleeping if you're sleeping you can recline your seat. Okay, I mean that's what it's for right the um Although there are people who are like you never recline no matter what death I would say that's probably half the people in the world say you should never in any situation ever recline An airline seat even though there's a button on the Hand rest that reclines the seat. It's what it does. I see the other people are like I paid for the seat

9:19I can recline you can recline go ahead and recline Once again, I'm not taking sides here because I don't want to alienate 50% of the people who listen to this podcast People have very strong opinions about this. They do very strong opinions about they do I will say the the one case in which is kind of Quite rude to recline the seat is when the meals come through Because you were trying to like eat up against a reclined seat. That's just difficult for everyone I think the flight attendants in that situation will tell you to go upright if they're serving meals at that point So that that rule is written. I think If the flight attendant says it it's a rule But then again the flight attendants could enforce different rules on their flight in particular There's no like regulation by the FAA That says you have to have your seat in an upright position while someone is eating behind you never seen that one Did you watch the video by the way of the laguardia crash at all? 10:23Had a collision on ground with I believe was like a fire yep response truck And the the truck came across the the planes path as it was coming in I believe it had landed and it had largely slowed it was something like 25 miles an hour But You wouldn't think that was possible given the entire front of the plane is just like this twisted metal wreckage I guess it's a lot of mass. It's yeah, it's so big You know, you get that like was it the conservation of momentum you get something that big It doesn't have to be going that fast to have a lot of momentum. There's now been an update saying there was more than just one person In the air traffic controller tower. 11:30Trying to tell the truck to halt and it was too late It's pretty it was pretty fast, right? I mean it was stop stop stop stop stop then truck one stop stop stop stop stop, right? That's a potion drink. That's a potion, right in arguably That you what you have made as a potion. It's no longer a beverage. It's now a potion But if I have coffee and I put in milk non-opposition still just a drink Okay, so is this the number of ingredients or is this like this is have to do with combining? 23:00Absolutely not I when I first started using apple maps I got full-on-shamed because it was like the first party apple my iPhone and people were like you use Apple map for a long time. It was like the default It is better than what it was it was kind of when it first started and now it seems like I Feels like that was recently, but that was probably 15 years ago When I get my iPhone I have apple maps. Oh gosh. I feel like it didn't apple I'm gonna look at one of apple maps launched because I want to say it was like pre-2008 Dear lord one of the iPhone launch because we wouldn't have I wouldn't have used apple maps until I had an iPhone I'm way up. I'm I'm conflating completely different times that I lived in cermets this go Apple maps released uh The 19th of september 2012 2012 the first iPhone launched June 29th 2007 So 2007 so five five year gap there It's weird. It feels like very recent and also ancient history as well But the iPhone's gonna be 20 years old next year. Oh, are we gonna throw it a party?

It'll be like an android phone from 15 years ago So finally catch up on every time every time I will be when we get excited about some features They've got it and everyone's like androids had this for years. I don't feel bad at all I know I know that iPhone is like this weird dumb ivory tower with a bunch of really dumb people in it Who are spending too much on their phones and getting too little for it and I'm still like totally fine with that I don't know why I don't know why what it's I bitch about it constantly and I still won't change the android It's because you've got so much invested in the platform Right like you you've got so many like apps that you've purchased or subscriptions that are through this or like all these things that

25:02And the other Thing that it shouldn't be as important as it is is it's like it's easy. I know how it works Right like I will acknowledge that um that like Macbooks they were Everyone who had a MacBook and like knew how to use them love them anytime I tried to inner face with like Mac OS. I'd be like I just don't know how I don't know the shortcuts I don't know where to look for the stuff I feel this is I feel like my parents asking me for tech support like I get it now Right where I'm just looking at thing and it just doesn't make sense to me I don't know where the thing goes. I don't know where to find it And I'm going to go back to the familiar thing that I know Remember I had a thing the other day where I had a app on my iPhone and I can search for it and I can see it And it's like I just want to know what folder it's in like right Because you've got like all the little like boxes like the folders that have like all the icons and here's the thing Which I couldn't find I had to search folder by folder. It couldn't get it to tell me Where does this thing live on my phone?

26:03Well, and I remember because I looked this up for you Uh, and I was like here's what you do you just drag you know drag down to search find the app And then you can tap it and pull it out of search out out of search into wherever you want it to live the fun part about that is It's still in whatever folder you lost it in it's just also now in the new folder. Are you sure about that? It's also on the home screen as well. I mean, these are all home screen But they're just like folders on the home screen. I think you might have two icons on the home screen That's something that we should test But either way you like you yeah, you had to go and like pick it out of search also another thing too is like This is on windows. I don't know how much you do this kind of thing on windows I do it all the time because there's so many files associated with like the back catalog of first teeth When you go to search for something windows has this thing now like when you're in explore and you go to search for something It puts you in like some kind of search mode like search view That's different than like your file explorer and it's like yes, and then you get a fight your way out of it It's like I'm not like hey, you know what I want to do today. I want to spend the morning searching for stuff You search for one thing. I don't want to stay in search. What is that like who thought that that's a good feature

27:07I kind of figured out how to turn that thing on that feels like that feels like a work around that Worked just well enough for so long that they're like now it's fine It's so Going back to the Apple thing and tell me wrong here because I will take a side here on this And I know there'll be instances where people can tell me I'm wrong And probably like give like specific things that have happened But the thing over time with Apple that I like is like they have Enough power to be like Fuck you. We're not doing that like we're not we're not Like the when they introduce the thing where it says like hey all these apps are tracking across all the other things We're just going to put it out to the users and everyone's like don't do that We don't want you to do that because this is a valuable data that we want to collect on everybody apples like fuck you No, we're going to turn this off or ask him if we want to do it I also feel like you don't have instances where like you find out oh Apple sold all of our data to somebody You know what I mean? Or even they're like walled garden shit that costs 30% to get into if you're an app developer I just feel like it's like they have enough power and they use it in the right ways right They're not just constantly trying to like hey, how can we grab more data from our users and like fuck them over in some weird way

28:12You know, they make weird decisions all the time For their own first party stuff like not putting a calculator on an iPad forever for what reason who the fuck knows I think we ended up with the reason and it was that um, they thought it wouldn't be aesthetic I think it was Steve jobs didn't want it to appear Like it's a giant calculator like the because he knew people would have pictures of that and he just didn't want that So for even like 10 years after his death there was no calculator I Like get over it don't let it's full screen whatever yeah make it make it a half screen app do a gigantic border around it with a tiny calculator in the middle you like you can figure this out There are options. I'm gonna use a word that you probably shouldn't use for a giant multi-national trillion dollar corporation But I feel like I trust Applemore and maybe that'll come back to bite me really hard at some point But even with like the age verification thing we were talking about the other day If Apple has a solution to anonymously push that out And I can get through without getting nagged on all that stuff because the laws are requiring that to take place

29:14I trust Apple with that more than I would trust like giving that information to the website itself Yeah, or being like here. Palantir just take my data Um, yeah, I like a couple of the things that Apple has done And one of those is like they're like yeah, we don't like your touch ID or your face ID It's sort on the device like we don't have that in the cloud somewhere We don't keep any of that you're you're wallet all those things those don't Just like magically get backed up anywhere else. They're on your device. They're yours. We don't keep them The first thing with Apple is they have the nice little wall guard Which makes them safe But then anytime you try to like go outside the walls the walls keep getting higher and higher That's a problem with Apple you're like I can't just do this is like no the trouble is people keep trying to escape We just ran into this recently. We got this really pretty device For guests who come here to see us it's the puck, you know Yes, it's a walnut puck with like little pewter like Wi-Fi symbol on it. It's very pretty And it's great And then you just take your phone and you tap it on it and it adds you to the Wi-Fi network So when people come over for a drink or whatever go you want Wi-Fi just tap on that little cool thing right there

30:14unless you have an iPhone Because they won't let you tap to join a Wi-Fi network and get the Wi-Fi credentials Because it would be a potential security threat which I get if someone put one of these in a bar top or something in a public bar Then people see do you want to join this number like sure, you know, why not? Right, it just automatically puts you on one of those networks that Is just siphoning all the traffic and watching everything you do and so this really pretty puck if you have an iPhone You can't tap it you got to turn it over and there's like a scan the QR code sticker with a QR code on the back Which is so so much less aesthetically pleasing but I get why they do it but there's and there's no way around it. There's nothing you can do about it at all Yeah, it's just it's just not something that they have any intentions of changing because the puck is really pretty So you do get a lot of like no fuck you that works in your favor But you also get it sometimes the words annoying, but you kind of do that for all the other stuff Yeah, so what you're saying it's it's like a long-term relationship Speaking of which you should update your iPhones if you got them because they're like literally one of these exploits came out that could put Millions of iPhones at risk and like the top comments about it are like this has already been patched

31:15You it should have already updated for you so it should be fine if you haven't updated the update And then the problem with this is oh Anybody who's got an iPhone 9 can't update to this OOS because it's the cutoff for it so they would be Subject to that exploit.
