Join Bryan Dean Wright, former CIA Operations Officer, as he dives into today's top stories shaping America and the world. In this Monday Headline Brief of The Wright Report, Bryan covers a growing crisis at U.S. airports as TSA workers go unpaid, causing massive security lines, flight disruptions, and warnings that smaller airports could soon shut down.
He also reports on a shift in Trump's immigration strategy away from mass deportations toward targeting the "worst of the worst," alongside mounting tensions in sanctuary cities where local leaders continue to block cooperation with ICE.
On the global front, Bryan breaks down a dramatic escalation in the war with Iran, including Tehran's surprise ICBM test, new threats against civilian and economic targets worldwide, and U.S. plans that could involve seizing key islands in the Strait of Hormuz.

And this is The Right Report.
Hey, good day to you, ladies and gentlemen.
Welcome to The Right Report, your daily news podcast.
It's Monday's headline brief.
Heavy on news, lighter on analysis,
launching us into a new week with events that as ever are shaping America and the world.
We begin with domestic news this morning starting with the nightmare at US airports.
And when exactly that might end, as ABC News and the Hill reports, Senate Democrats continue
to block funding for the Department of Homeland Security with workers at FEMA, the Coast Guard,
and TSA getting no paychecks.
Now, there was a bill last Friday that was supposed to change that,
but it failed for the fifth time.
Although we should know that a majority of senators actually voted to restart funding on Friday.
However, because of that the lazy 60 filibuster rule and GOP Senate leaders that were
refused to embrace a talking filibuster, a majority is not enough in this Senate to overcome
the Democrats blocking this bill.
Bloomberg, Axios and others report that that is why President Trump has ordered ICE agents to
the rescue, shifting their focus from immigration enforcement to help out the TSA folks at the
airports. Although frankly, they're not going to be doing much.
ICE officers were not trained on security procedures, for example.
So instead, they're going to be doing more menial work like standing guard by the exits,
trying to prevent people from rushing to the gates without being checked by the folks at
security. And some people might just try to do that as in the frustrated flyers. Maybe you
lines are now two to three hours long in a growing number of major US airports.
With nobody actually guiding or organizing those lines from what is being reported,
it just passengers trying to use the honor system as a set of octopus like lines or stretching
into nearby parking lots up to a mile away.
Businessman Elon Musk is offering to pay TSA salaries this morning to about $40 million
a week is what it would cost him to get those folks back to work with full bank accounts.
It's not clear though if Mr. Musk's generous offer can actually be realized by the federal
government per laws, but I'll keep you posted on that. Let's hope so. Without his support though,
and the Democrats continue to block this bill, we could see even more TSA agents quit.
We are now up to 400 plus agents who have quit that is up from 300 last week.
As market watches reporting, it's possible that this could be resolved later on this week.
That's because the US Senate is scheduled to go on a two week vacation on Friday. Of course they
are. And GOP Senate Majority Leader John Thun says that that's why they've got to find a deal
by this Friday. They've all got to leave. You know, got to go work on their tans.
But unless Democrats senators relent on this funding bill out by this Friday or the GOP
senators ditched the lazy 60 filibuster, there is no deal here to be had regardless of what
Senator Thun says. And if that is back is the case, the transportation secretary Sean Duffy said
that next week we are going to start to see smaller US airports shut down altogether. And larger
airports were going to have even more lines at least four hours long. It's expected in many places.
Passengers are thus likely to either cancel their tickets or maybe drive which comes at a real
bad time for the airlines in this country is the war in Iran is driving up ticket prices to pay
for jet fuel. So all in boy, we can start to see a just rack in this country certainly in our
tourism industry and airline industry as well. And that would be coast to coast as soon as next week.
Pivoting then from facts and data to quick analysis and opinion. So you know,
I know that reasonable people can disagree about the filibuster. But I continue to think and
argue that it is been a mistake to stick with this thing at this point. How did GOP ditch this
filibuster a year ago as I've been talking about or maybe gone with the talking filibuster?
We could have actually seen some revolutionary laws passed over the past 12 months.
Instead we have this mix of kind of so so laws. You know, they were all trying to obey that
lazy 60 filibuster rule. And also, yeah, we've got some Trump executive orders but those can get
quickly overturned. So if we see electoral wipeout this coming fall, I would argue that part of the
reason here is this filibuster. The GOP promised just wholesale change from that era of Joe Biden
corruption and rot. And we've only seen the American people get this. If the record default here
and my view is not actually the Senate Democrats, it's the GOP. They could change this filibuster
rule, but they refuse. They're clinging to this filibuster that as we talked about on this
podcast before, we all know it is a historical mistake. It was based on a silly decision
back in the year of 1806. There is nothing in the constitution that says that we have to have
this. And remember, the US House, they used to have a filibuster as well. They had it to the year
1842, but they got rid of it wisely. So anyway, here we are. The future in the fate of this country
resting on a GOP Senate that refuses to fix what is clearly a mistake from 220 years ago.
All while Democrats this morning continue to embrace their leftist revolution, promising very
clearly to block this DHS bill because they want to help ensure that the 12 million illegals that
they let in never leave. Anyway, so my prediction is I think that this filibuster choice over the
past year by the GOP is going to go down in the history books. I'm just not so sure how exactly
it's going to play out, but I don't suspect that it will end all that well. So check in with me
in like, you know, five, 10 years. We'll see. Next up, we've got some related updates about ice and
how President Trump's immigration policies are going. Act shows and the Wall Street Journal report
that the President believes that the mass roundup of illegals over the past year,
including at say construction sites or farms and ranches, those have gone too far. That is why he
has instructed his team to focus and talk instead about the worst of the worst. But how we define
that is really tricky as I've covered previously, Democrat run cities and states often don't capture
the immigration status when they arrest or prosecute people. So identifying the worst of the worst
is very difficult because your crime stats are not reliable. Plus, we'll remember that sanctuary
cities and Democrat judges can protect or slow down the process of arresting and deporting
those worst to the worst. We've talked about how Massachusetts is arguably the worst in the
country on that. But another example would include out in Texas, the Houston Chronicle reports that
police in that city were contacting ICE or they were driving suspects to ICE facilities when
they were arresting these violent thugs out of the streets or in this country illegally.
That sounds reasonable, I think most of us would say, but no, rather than be supportive of these
police officers in getting these illegal criminals out of the streets, Houston's Democrat leaders were
furious about this news. They have now launched an investigation into the police, of course,
for cooperating with ICE. We also have horrific cases in Virginia lately of Democrats protecting
the so-called worst of the worst. One such man is a Mr. Israel Flores Ortiz. He was released into
this country by the Biden administration and has claimed that he is just 19 years old. He was going
to high school in Fairfax County. When, disgustingly, he started grabbing girls in their private areas and
trying to do things with them. He was eventually arrested, good, but only after a dozen or so
parents complained and they allege. They got little to no response at first from the Democrat
run school system. So yes, it's good that he was arrested according to the parents, but now the
county and the state virginia Democrats, including the governor there, the former CIA officer and
now governor Abigail Spamberger, they are refusing to honor the ICE detainer on this guy and turn him
over for deportation this 19 year old. Governor Spamberger said that doing that collaborating with ICE
on this 19 year old kid or man would quote, we can law enforcement's ability to deepen trust with
migrant communities, contributing to a culture of fear and distrust. So that is why the high school
a sexual deviant remains protected this morning. Also being protected in Virginia is another illegal
alien, a guy named Mr. Abdul Jolom. He is from the African country of Sierra Leone. Local NBC affiliate
channel four reported on Friday that the mother of a woman that he killed she wants justice.
Now you may have heard of this case, but to just quickly refresh our memories, Mr. Jolom
had been in this country for over a decade with a long rap sheet, including dozens of prior
arrests, those would include rape, assault, drug possession, larceny and attempted murder.
But he was always given a slap on the wrist by a Democrat DA's in Virginia, especially in Fairfax
County. He was then released back into Virginia's communities where he reoffended again,
and again, and again, his last crime though. Oh, it was especially horrific. He stabbed a death
Miss Stephanie Minter at a local bus stop. Governor Spamberger says, well, it's not her fault
nor her party. She blames ICE for not deporting him sooner. But that's kind of bizarre because
she and her party are currently protecting that 19 year old high schooled sexual deviant from
being deported and thousands of other illegals in Virginia. And again, all because Spamberger
and her party have locked policies where state and county officials can work with ICE officers.
So I believe that the kids call that gaslighting here by Miss Spamberger and her party. And perhaps
that is why on Friday, the local NBC affiliate interviewed the mother of the victim, Mrs. Minter,
who said that she is angry about this and what the Democrats are doing in the state. But just
really anybody and everybody, she wants it all fixed saying quote, something has got to happen
to make it get fixed because innocent people can't keep dying end quote. Well, unfortunately,
they can and they will so long as sanctuary policies remain in place. That's the consequence
of voting for politicians who support open borders and the abolition of ICE, which takes
respect to President Trump's decision to dial back on mass deportations and focus instead on
the worst of the worst. Trump and party strategists want Republicans to stop talking about or
mentioning the words mass deportation. Instead, it's the worst of the worst because they want to
try to get the DHS out of the headlines. As it turns out, polls show that most Americans really
don't like mass sweeps for illegals. And that is now the promise of a more low key DHS. It's the
same promise being made by President Trump's new choice to run DHS, the former Senator Mark Wayne
Mullen. He has yet to be confirmed probably later this week, but he says his goal is to run DHS
in the quiet of the shadows. No more flashy raids, no more screaming headlines and definitely
no more mass deportations. Pivoting them from facts and data to analysis and opinion. So you know,
this decision by the White House to dial back on mass deportations, it may feel like a slap in
the face to a lot of Trump supporters. And frankly, fair enough, well, here is what's going on
in a background at the White House on this based on my experience, or I should say, conversations
with folks at the White House. First, President Trump is taking counsel from a lot of people
who use a lot of cheap foreign labor from the hotel and entertainment industry to agriculture to
construction. We are seeing this pivot or the softening from a mass deportations to the worst
of the worst because of labor demands. And that may be smart or appropriate. If you think that
those industries really do need cheap foreign labor and to really keep them vibrant in y'all can
debate that with me on sub stack. But the other piece that is driving this change by the White House
is the polling. White House internal polls and public polls too show that while most Americans
support mass deportation actually or the big roundup of illegals, it also makes them sad.
So Americans want mass deportations, but you know, try to not make it so sad somehow.
So the White House is reading that in the very frustrated way, at least now pivoting with their
public rhetoric, trying to be more quiet on the big public deportation operations. And maybe that's
smart politically. And I think it's fair to make that argument as we think about them in term
elections. But if you really embrace that as your policy and we see deportation numbers dip to
whatever material degree, well, that's not about losing elections at that point. My view,
you're losing your country. Folks, Democrats will eventually get back into power. They will.
And they will again open the border. And if you're thus not deporting millions of people right now,
then your country, when they get back into power, it will be gone eventually. And that's why
mass deportations in my view are uncomfortable. They're sad. Yes. But the scalpel solution of the
worst of the worst, it's long gone as the reasonable choice. All we have left if you really want to
save the country are chainsaw options. That's sad. That's probably politically uncomfortable to
talk about. I get it. But it's necessary at any rate. More to come on that as we get closer to
the midterm elections. But if you hear more talk about the worst of the worst and fewer deportation
operations or numbers, well, that's why. And with that, let's take our first break of the
morning. We'll be right back. The struggle to quit smoking or vaping. It's a tough one,
but it's not just about the nicotine. It's also the habit that finger fidgeting, the hand
amount sensation, the routine of it, the mind actually craves that as the smokers and vapors in my
life have long said, but I've got the solution. The company called fume designed a great little
device where you draw in flavored air. It's very light, nothing like vaping with flavors ranging
from raspberry to mint. And it gives your hands and mouth something to do distracting those cravings.
But without the nicotine, the vapor or the batteries fume describes their flavored air devices
awaited twisty fidget-friendly tool. And my friends who use it say that that's exactly what it
does. It helps them reach for something better than a cigarette or a vape when cravings show up.
Fume has already helped over 700,000 people take steps towards better habits. And now it's
your turn or someone you love. I've already gifted these and they are a hit helping loved ones

brief this morning with the pivot now towards global news dominating our coverage this morning is
of course the war with Iran first up. The White House is signaling an interest in both war and peace
this morning. Let's start with peace on Friday night. President Trump posted a social media that
the US is likely to wind down operations in this Middle Eastern war. It's time to pass the
baton to others. He said clarifying though that the US has five goals before we ever depart
those five include first degrading the Iranian missile program. Second preventing an Iranian
nuclear program from ever existing again. Third eliminating their navy and their air force. Fourth
destroying their factories that produce Iran's military gear and the weaponry. Fifth and finally
protecting our Arab allies or partners. Those five goals said the president have largely been
accomplished or darn close to it. Now that said there is the straight of four moves this morning that
is still a little bit tricky as Iran has effective control over it to which the president said on
Friday quote that will have to be guarded and policed as necessary by other nations who use it.
The United States does not end quote. All right. So that was the call of winding down operations
and kind of peace on Friday night. But about 24 hours later the president posted a new message
on social media that in fact the Iranians have 48 hours from the very minutes of that post to fully
open the straight of four moves or the US will start to destroy all of Iran's electricity or power
plants. Well that's quite an escalation. Why the big change from peace to war in less than 24 hours.
Well maybe that's because during those 24 hours the Iranians decided to shock the world
and they did so by firing a two-stage intercontinental ballistic missile or ICBM
SCMBC the UK's telegraph and a bunch of others report the two ICBMs that they were fired.
They were a modified North Korean missile called the mushadan. Those were developed in Tehran
with assistance by Pyongyang's technicians over about the past 15 years. With those two missiles
fired over the weekend at the joint US UK base at Goodall Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. Yes
as we cover before I was supposed to be the governor there. Now I'm kidding about that. But seriously
that is where the US has staged jet and strategic bombers for years like to be twos for those operations
that we saw last summer with Operation Midnight Hammer. And that is likely why Iran decided to take
aim at Diego over the weekend. It was a message and a shock to the world that they first had
these types of missiles and second that they were willing to use them. Now I say shock in part
here because just last week America's ODNI chief Miss Tulsi Gabbard said that Iran was working
on this type of missile but that it would not be ready for military use until probably the year
2035 Yikes that Intel and that assessment were obviously wrong. The implications of that
Intel failure are far beyond just Diego Garcia this morning. The range of this new weapon
depending on the payload and the weight. It means that Iran can likely deliver a nuclear weapon
to most all of Europe. And certainly they can drop a conventional bomb on capitals from London
to Paris to Berlin. Now the good news I guess you could say it this way is that the US
homeland that remains out of range with this latest Iranian missile. So that's good for us.
Bad for Europe. But it underlines what I've shared with you previously in lots of episodes.
Certainly over the past number of weeks but really over the past several years I've shared with
you that Iran and North Korea have been working in secret for decades to advance their respective
nuclear and ICBM programs using the cover story of developing rockets that are dedicated to space
exploration. But that was always a lie as I share with you. And now Iran has just proven that over
the weekend that this entire collaboration was just a ruse with one of their mouset on missiles
shot down while the other one actually malfunctioned in flight. Well that in those failures aside
Iran has still shocked the world and global leaders and Intel officers are still trying to debate
the implications of this. But let me tell you a big big deal. Now this bad rocket news for the
world is great news if you are in Tehran. That's right. The Iranian government they are feeling
quite emboldened this morning. In fact, the Wall Street Journal is reporting that they think
they are winning this war. And that is why in addition to the launch of these new ICBMs,
IRGC officials announced three other bold new measures over the weekend as the AP reports the first
is that Iran is now threatening to attack parks, recreational areas, tourist destinations,
religious sites and desalination plants worldwide, soft targets. In other words, not just military.
And that will include they said inside of the US, Israel or any nation that joins that alliance
including Arab countries. Second, Newsweek magazine reports that the Iranians are promising to
attack any country that holds US debt. And that money they set as being used to ultimately target
Iran. So that is why any debt holders of ours got to be targeted unless you sell it quick.
As an Iranian official told global investors of the weekend that quote, we monitor your portfolios.
So this is your final notice to sell end quote. Well, however, that is a little bit awkward
because China actually controls some US debt. So we'll see how that works out. The third new
measure by Tehran not officially announced by the IRGC, but unofficially understood is that if you
decide to work with Tehran, they will cut you a deal, especially on oil and gas products.
The Times of London is reporting something quite interesting that IRGC officials have informed
ship owners and respective nations that if they want to pass through the straight of Hormuz,
unbothered, they can, but they must pay Tehran $2 million in tolls per ship. And if you
agree to do that to work with Tehran, great. They will give you a code word or a number that you
use as you approach the straight. So for example, Captain has got to confirm the speed of the ship.
It's a pre-arranged number that then signifies to Iranian missile and drone operators that
that ship in question should not be fired upon. Everybody else? Yep, they get a drone or a missile.
Fortune and Bloomberg News report that countries are paying this $2 million toll. In fact,
it includes China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iraq, Malaysia, and Japan, although officials in
Tokyo are denying it. So about online folks, Iran is using asymmetric or gorilla attacks this
morning to gain a stronger position in this war. Stronger than certainly the Pentagon and the
CIA and White House first imagined the Iranians are using a lot of small weapons that carry a big,
big impact. Like last week we covered the drones that shut down about 20% of Qatar's natural gas
production, blew up a bunch of infrastructure, or this new possibility by the Iranians threatening
to blow up desalination plants. And folks, if you look at the target list here that the Iranians
put out, this could be massive. We'll recall that Bahrain and Qatar get 100% of
their water from desalination plants, the UAE, about 80%. The Saudis are about 50%.
And Iran announced over the weekend that all of those plants in all of those countries and beyond
will be targeted. And that is why President Trump and his team aren't just talking about peace
this morning or turning things over to the Arabs or the Israelis. They're also developing expanded
war plans this morning with some small numbers of US boots on the ground in Iran.
CBS News reports that another 2,500 expeditionary Marines are on their way to the Middle East this
morning. These guys based in California, they will join the other 2,500 that are steaming in from
Japan. Reuters news is reporting that one idea that the White House is considering for these men
is blasting them through the street of Hormuz and getting them and their ships like the USS
Tripoli to Carg Island. Once they take and hold it, God willing, the US would then have about 90%
of Iran's oil exports with just very limited options by the Iranians to switch to their other
ports. Once Carg would then be secured, Trump could do a deal. The US would give back Carg to
Tehran if the Iranians agree to a 4 point peace plan that reflect the goals of no more nukes,
a freeze on missiles, no more navy, and stop using the terror proxies like Hezbollah,
plus oh yeah, forever leave the street of Hormuz alone.
More to come on that strategy folks, but the big gamble here by the White House on this
is that the thousands of Marines at Carg Island would be able to survive the likely barrage of
Iranian missiles and drones for weeks, months to come. And that of course is not counting any
other surprises that might pop up along the way. And unfortunately, we've got five of those to
talk about this morning, five surprises, which will likely impact not only our Marines, but maybe
here too in the homeland, including an attack on US military bases using swarms of drones.
We're going to talk about those five war surprises after our second break out of the morning.
We'll be right back.

Welcome back to the right reports with continued headline updates this morning,
taking us to those five surprises that are percolating in this war with Iran. Although I should
start by saying that we have already covered a few possible surprises over the last couple weeks.
So just to refresh those, we've got the possibility that the Israelis might target more Iranian oil
and gas infrastructure, even though Trump doesn't want them to. Or also the possibility that the
Israelis would work with the Kurds, also without coordinating with Trump. Or maybe the Arabs will get
directly involved in this war, or maybe Iran will use their global terror groups and the gangs
like in Europe to attack lots of civilian targets. Or maybe that possibility of using the Houthis
to target the Red Sea. We have covered all of those possible surprises over the last few weeks
and all of those remain true. But wait, there's more. Five more surprises in all. Let's cover them now.
First, the government of Israel is further admitting that boots might be needed inside of Iran,
but not American and not Israeli. The Israeli ambassador to the US said over the weekend that
Iranians themselves must rise up and fight back against the IRGC for to win this thing.
Israeli ambassador Michael Lightner said that that was not likely to happen, not anytime soon.
But as I shared with you last week, that is why the Israeli Air Force and Mossad are working so
hard to target internal police units in Tehran and beyond and either kill them one by one at
checkpoints or call them on their personal cell phones and make the pitch to join the people
under rise up or be killed. Ambassador Lightner said that the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's
office is working on some plans in that regard. So we'll watch for more surprises on that.
Next, let's talk about some unhappy surprises this morning coming out of China. First,
the UK's telegraph is reporting on what most of us know by now that the US military is deeply
reliant on China's supply chains for key minerals like tungsten or rare earths along with key
electronics. So that stranglehold means that China could cut us off from things like more advanced
missiles. Now, the Pentagon is countering that the US military has hundreds of thousands of
freefall bombs that we can use in this war and others. We can convert them into small bombs or
advanced gliders with a fairly simple upgrade system. And that's true. It's called the JDAM
system. It's largely a tail kit that converts a freefall bomb into a glider. You can kind of think
of it like adding a motor to a simple bicycle that might get you say an e-bike or a scooter,
we might say. And while the Pentagon is right here in general, they're not fully correct. We know
that the US is burning through our stockpiles and supplies of different kinds of air munitions,
including the big ones, tomahawks, attackums, and fat interceptors. And those won't be produced
for years, not at scale. And it's assuming that we even get that continued supply as up like the
tungsten or the rare earths from China. And that is a difficult assumption to make with some very
unhappy surprises abaging ever decides to hold back. Although we should remember and be fair,
President Trump and his team are certainly aware of this vulnerability. That's why we've got
that five bucket strategy of reviving America's mineral industry, although that's going to take years
to accomplish. So do knows what surprises China might have in store for us on this front,
which takes us to the holy smokes. Big surprise from China this morning. A nuclear weapon.
The South China Morning Post published a very curiously timed article over the weekend saying that
perhaps the best way to end this war is for Iran to get a nuclear weapon. That would enforce
an immediate ceasefire and a negotiated settlement. Now the suggestion here appears to be the China
or probably North Korea would provide the nuclear warheads. And perhaps fashion these onto
an Iranian missile like the one that was just fired towards Diego over the weekend, which we know
is based off that North Korean design, the Musadon holy smokes wouldn't that be a very
unhappy and dangerous surprise. For our third surprise, let's go to Louisiana and Missouri this morning.
ABC News is reporting on a very mysterious gentleman, we believe a mysterious pilot who flew
a swarm of unidentified drones over the skies of Barchdale Air Force Base earlier this month.
And he did it for about a week. Now that's bad because Barchdale is home to America's B-52
bombers, which have been conducting operations over Iran. This mysterious drone operator,
or it's possibly operators plural, they were flying about 15 drones in all darting low and through
Barchdale's airspace to apparently see how the base the commander would respond if at all. And
unfortunately, we did not. Our defenses were minimal to nil. And it be clear these drones were not
commercially available drones, that swarm of 15 were custom built. And they had, quote,
advanced knowledge of signal operations, end quote. Nilitary analysts added with high confidence
that they expect to see this mysterious threat continue at not just Barchdale, but perhaps at
other US military bases around the homeland as well. And based on that, I would remind us that
we could see some bad stuff at places like Missouri's Whiteman Air Force Base, which you might
remember to the Daily Caller reported last fall. There's a shared fence between Whiteman
and a trailer park that is owned by a Chinese national who has direct ties to the Communist
Party and their intel agencies. That has been addressed allegedly. But how many more of these Chinese
neighbors are near our bases? We don't know. And that is not a good surprise when you wake up one
day and you realize your neighbor is Mr. She and not Mr. Rogers, which takes us to surprise
number four this morning. It's the mystery of the Iatola in Iran. The Jerusalem post is confirming,
but I noted two weeks ago, at least now, that the IRGC is now firmly in control of Iran,
and that the Iatola is a non factor. Maybe he's alive. Maybe he's dead. But in any case, the
clerical role of that country since the 1978 Revolution 79, it has been marginalized.
Axios News reports that the CIA, Mossad, and Arab intel agencies, all of them are working to
flesh this out as it looks like this Iatola-Kamehni Jr. is probably alive and wounded,
but that's not clear. Meanwhile, and this is so important and interesting,
one Arab intel officer told Axios News that the IRGC leaders that are now in charge
are increasingly bonkers. They're nutters. They're the most extreme and the most unpredictable
of Tehran's militant leaders. This Muslim intel officer told Axios News that these IRGC
officials are ready to murder themselves for all of at whatever cost and all to ensure that
this Muslim revolution of theirs since the 1970s continues on its march to wipe out Israel and
the Jews. Reverting Israeli lands back to Arab lands as they say it was before Israel's reconstitution
back in 1948. That, ladies and gentlemen, fundamentally, is what this latest war is really all about.
That takes us to our fifth and final surprise this morning, and this one is relatively light-hearted.
It is about sugar. Fortune magazine is reporting that this war with Iran is taking a bite out of
global sugar supplies. And to explain, we go to Brazil. That country exports about 45 percent
of the world's sugar supply. And every harvest, the Brazilians, along with the other major sugar
producers in Thailand and India, decide how much of that raw sugar goes into the stuff that
we humans like to make things sweet, or how much should go into making ethanol and fuel for cars
and trucks. But now the Brazilians, especially, are in a pickle. With the street of
hormones cut off and Arabs not buying as much in the price of shipping, getting even more expensive,
the country's sugar looks like more of it is going to go into that ethanol production for the
next six months. That will result in the sugar squeeze. And I'm not talking about Valentine's
today. Fortune says that US consumers, you all should not see a major price hike at the grocery
store. But then again, who knows, there are a lot of variables on this thing. So we're just going
to have to wait and see. So start buying your lollipops now, I guess. Bottom line, we can now add sugar
to the list of things affected by this war in addition to the other products that we've talked
about beyond oil and gas. And that would include plastics, fertilizer, aluminum, and helium.
You might remember that gas is used in medical equipment and computer chip manufacturing.
It may also be used in the future production of this podcast. I don't know. You know what people say
on the angel of death and everything's awful, brink. Can you talk about happy stuff? Okay, well,
fine. I will help on some helium and deliver the news in my best done of duck voice. So you're
welcome in advance. That'll be fun. Very happy. And with that, ladies and gentlemen, let's conclude
this morning's episode of the right report.
As always, I will see you tomorrow, God willing. Until then, I leave you with a creed of every good
spy and every wise American. They're the words from the Gospel of John, chapter 8, verse 32.
And you shall know the truth. And the truth shall make you free. Good day.
