Today we're gonna dive even deeper into the Zelda 40th anniversary direct but especially into the aquarium of time remake which we learned a whole bunch of stuff about today. This is day one of two of our big direct weeks so we had a reaction this morning for the Zelda 40th anniversary direct and now we're doing this deep dive podcast. Tomorrow we're gonna do it all again all over again. I love this. It's fun. I can't remember too many other gaming events like this where you're getting substantial news that have spanned multiple days. I know. It's really fun. It's like a festival like you were saying. Yeah. It is. It's a whole celebration of Nintendo stuff. Right. Somebody needs to make the poster like the festival with like the headliners. The headliners? All the skewers. The little dates and the bath. Yeah, exactly.
You're gonna give us the march of direct week. Very interesting approach that is absolutely brutal on the people who are making these Nintendo directs. It's like gotta be really really hard. Maybe she seems too different to you. I don't know how they're pulling that off and then they're doing the tree house live tomorrow as well. So that's a whole other thing but I think it's gonna pay off for them. No, I think so. It's already huge. So people seem to be feeling really good. Coming out of the Zelda Direct and we still know what's gonna be in the direct tomorrow. But 45 minutes of stuff. It's gonna be big. I think there will be some news. So I'm feeling great about all. I'm feeling good. I felt good this morning. I feel good afterwards. I'm feeling good about tomorrow. I feel good week all around. Do you have a hard time sleeping? No. I went to sleep because I knew I had to get it early. That was good. Yeah, it's like, oh, I gotta pace myself. This is a multi day battle. Oh, no. I went to bed nice and early. Like an old lady yesterday. Oh, good. Good, good, good. Shout out to our Patreon subscribers.
Check them out at patreon.com slash kit and crystal. We were enjoying our great Discord community, which is of course a Patreon exclusive. Just living in the direct with all the news, all the information. No place for another beat. The best time is whenever there's a direct happening and what is happening in the Discord is so much fun. Just to be with your like-minded Nintendo fans and a really lovely community sharing in their excitement and also sometimes it gets the news before we do. They're very good at sniffing out. They're very fast. They're very fast. I always learn a thing or two as well when things are like, you know, when the concert dates, for example, I'm going to talk about the website when live. I knew immediately because I was in our Discord. Right. So that is definitely the place to be when there is a big, you know, I mean, multi-direct week, getting the Discord, showing the Patreon. It's so fun. And again, you know, if you're looking to support us, our Patreon is the best way to do that.
So I hope you will give it a look. You know, just one quick thought about the direct tomorrow is there's been all of these, you know, rumors that rumor mills been going crazy and that's like, you know, part of the effect of them starting the pre-promotion on a Friday for a direct that is not until a Wednesday. Yeah. Yesterday was a holiday in some country. Today we're doing this. Today we have this. So again, I think everybody should just maybe take it all with a grain of salt. But I am also wondering, and I'm not going to get into the specifics, I am wondering if there's going to be like a changing of the guard of the top leaker because now there's this new, there's new leaker who's like, got all these claims and it's like, oh, is this person, they can only be one at a time. Yeah. And it does holding the championship belt of leakers. It does seem like Nate the Hate is taking a bit of a different approach. Yeah. This time around, you know, he had the big podcast instead of it being very leak focused,
his very prediction. Right. I do think that there is a bit of a, maybe he was, he was spooked or maybe he was, had a talking to or something, but there does seem to be like a change happening. Yeah, and whether he's just, you know, couching leaks as predictions. Who knows? Yeah. We'll have to see, but yeah, there's other person, it's like, oh, I've not heard this name before, or but all people are like, oh, this person's been right about everything. It's like, all right, maybe this is the new, the new guy on the block. There's always going to be another one, you know what I mean? And there's always going to be that same cycle of like, you're only as good as your accuracy and you're only as good as Nintendo doesn't catch you, you know? So it is one of those things where it just keeps kind of changing hands almost. Right. Interesting stuff. But enough of that will dig into all of that stuff tomorrow. Yeah. We got a whole bunch of Zelda. We're going to go through all the news. We found some new news. We're going to get into, of course, got a shout out to our sponsor for today. This episode is sponsored by Raycon.
Thank you. And we are now into, is it officially fall yet? We're getting close. Not quite yet, but we're getting real close. All is in the air and that kind of puts us all in a set, in a mental reset kind of mode. Tackle that to do, this is. It might be, you might be cleaning up. You might be taking on a big project, a great thing to take along with you. As you do that is Raycon's essential open earbud, which are an entirely different type of earbud that maybe you've never even heard of or seen before. Yeah, these are really cool. They actually do not even go inside your ear hole. Your ear hole. I couldn't believe that when they sent us these. I was like, what is this? Really, how does it work? It's really cool. They have this little thing that kind of attaches around your ear and it just kind of sits on the outside of your ear. So you can hear the stuff around you and be aware of your surroundings. A lot of people like to use these when they're running or when they're like, you know, doing it outside. Yeah. So you don't want to be completely blocked out from your surroundings. Totally. They're super comfortable because they don't go inside your ear. Sometimes people get headaches if they have the ear buds in too long.
I've definitely had that before or like the pressure in your ears too much. So these really help with that. And like even though they're on the outside of your ear, the person next you can't hear where you're listening to. Well, that's what I was in. I'm not a magical, huh? That's what I was surprised and impressed by is, all right, it's not going in my ear, but the sound quality is just as good as it was. But it's also not just shooting sound out everywhere. Yeah, you can go. So somehow it's very concentrated where you want it to go and not where you don't. I don't know how that works, but it's really cool. Magic. You should listen to our multiple podcasts during direct week with your Raycon Open Ear. Sounds like it. Sounds like a great thing to entertain while you do your toot. 36 hours of battery life, but we have 36 hours of content this week. Who knows? Well, it might be a little short. Anything is possible. Anything is possible. But if we do, you don't have to charge in between. We're well on our way. The essential open ear buds are the perfect companion to your fall reset. Just a first starter speaking of starters. The big symphonic medley opening on the edge. Seems to work for everybody. That was an amazing way to kick off the direct to kick off this anniversary music. And Zelda is such a hand in hand kind of thing. So yeah, it sounded from the direct itself. Mr. Conto said it was an arrangement they made specifically for this. Yeah. And it totally hit. It was amazing. Yeah, I was watching. I was checking out some other reactions this morning. And there were a lot of where the people were just in tears by the time. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. Very emotional. Just the beautiful. And then I love the buildup of the instrument. Adding more of them. Adding more people to the organ. Again, it's kind of like the stable trotters. Once again, when you're just adding the pieces and then we finally hear them in the big
orchestral score altogether, such a moment. Right? So that's like, I think that's kind of like a good argument for splitting up these directs where it's like, all right, in the main direct, we do want to keep it tight. We want to keep it under an hour. This kind of thing might not make it because it's like, all right, we need news news news. We got to cram it all in. It's like, we actually don't, this actually isn't news at all. This is just like a really nice feel. It's a really good thing that's going to get everybody in the right mood. Yeah. And it totally worked. Yeah, yeah. And the series deserves it. You know, you need to give it a little breathing room to feel like a celebration, to feel like a special moment because it is 40 years is a big deal. Mario deserved it too. He didn't get it. Oh. I am feeling somewhat salty today as a. As a Mario fan. As a Mario fan. You think Mario got a little short change because his anniversary stuff was kind of inside another direct. It was like 20 minutes inside that other directs that way. A little bit, honestly. We'll get into that later as we go through more of the details, but it's fine. So the Symphony stuff was a cool callback to E3 2011.
I was thinking about that. Which was also an anniversary year. And that was how we started that press conference, which again was a big winning approach. Yeah. And that live was obviously, you know, when you hear live music, it's even a more emotional response. I did cry during that E3 2011. And it totally, yeah, it totally just feels like, you know, the Zelda music and games of just really goes hand in hand. And you can't kind of, can't have one without the other. And you need it. You need it to bring that level of emotion, you know. So I'm glad they're continuing to do that and use that as a way to celebrate the series. And like, yeah, to give us that moment, you know, it's really special. My memory back then was, wait, we got the whole group out here to do this one song. Like, let's keep it going. Like, oh, the events over now are going to do the full concerts. Yeah. That was it.
Yeah, yeah. At least with this, it's like, we know they're going to release this on YouTube or Nintendo today or maybe there's more than they recorded it. Maybe there is Nintendo music later on. It's kind of like a bigger opportunity. They are doing the tour, etc. Yes, right. Yeah. So we'll get into all the news in this direct, but of course, we're going to start with Acherina of Time, which was really the star of it. And I think that was one of the things that we were predicting was it's going to feel like either a title direct or a really deep overview trailer and it definitely took that approach. Yeah, absolutely. But right away, this is not an expansive remake that is adding new content to the game. This is pretty faithful in their own words. Mr. Aunuma even said this is a faithful remake. Yes. That's what he literally said before he jumped into the gameplay. This is what I thought was going to happen. And I had made the prediction that they're going to take almost like the star fox, like
a approach where maybe they added, I think they added a little bit more than they did to star fox and that will get into it. Star Fox had a whole multiplayer mode. True, but they added a lot of new controls to this. We'll see. We can argue this point. But it does feel very similar in terms of like it's beautiful. It's absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. You know, the graphics look amazing. People will be polarized on these character designs for 48 hours. People might be polarized. It just takes a little bit to get used to. And actually it was great because I had a very like kind of polarizing opinion of the star fox graphics. A lot of people. Eventually came around. This time I didn't have as much whiplash. I still like am looking at the characters and getting used to them. Maybe it's because you saw that tiny sleeping link. The sleeping link definitely helped. So, this is what we're talking about. We're talking about realism here. But yeah, I mean, they definitely are not really going for like, let's change it up.
You know, and that's what I absolutely expected. So I was not like surprised or disappointed. Now it's what you expected, but is it what you wanted? Um, I guess I didn't know what I wanted because it is tough. Like we were talking about for months before we learned anything, you know, specific about this game is that like you're kind of in this weird like almost like a loose, loose scenario either way where it's like a risky thing to do to remake one of the greatest games of all time. One of the highest rated games of all time. It's just really risky because you're just going to have areas or elements of it that's going to polarize people and it's going to be, you know, a negative for some people. So for me, I was just kind of like, well, just just give me what you got, I guess. Like I'll take what you think is the best way to do this. Yeah. Um, but I actually wasn't like, oh, I'm so disappointed that there isn't this like crazy,
you know, reimagining something. Yeah. And I, um, you know, I mentioned that in our reaction. I was like, I'm kind of wondering what the rest of the world is feeling about this. And I was kind of happy to see that most people were actually on board with this. Pretty reasonable. Yeah. There were some people who were disappointed. But I remember a few months ago, we did an episode on, and we did a poll with our Patreon communities like, what do you want? And the vast majority of people said they wanted the big remake with more content or reimagining. I remember seeing that. So, so that was something that was on my mind of like, wait, a lot of people said they really wanted this different approach. And this isn't it. I do think it speaks to like, for a lot of people, this is like the game of all time. It's like a game that, you know, they played at a formative time or as a game that they hold very close emotionally. Um, and I think a lot of that was clicking as they were watching this and as they were seeing this and they were getting those feelings. Yeah. The style is just such a powerful weapon. Yeah. And, you know, Nintendo has this job of the broader Zelda audience now that we'll get
into in a little bit, but I do feel like they may have dodged a bullet by taking this approach versus the bigger, harder way of, oh no, look what you did to my goat. Yeah. It didn't work. It didn't pay off in all these ways. Because, you know, we talk about Final Fantasy VII, all the remake trilogy of like, in Heidezeit, like they're wrapping it up now. It's like, this is kind of crazy. Yeah. For them to do this. Very risky. And this is considered to be one of the best games ever and as an important game. So I was like, I always had strange feelings when it was like, yeah, we're going to blow it up and we're going to do it another way. It's like, I don't know, that's something else. That's a different game, you know, that's a different level of commitment from Nintendo was, I mean, I mean, again, back to Final Fantasy, look at the commitment they had to have. Yeah. And it did work. To do it. I mean, it worked, but it took, you know, like, but it could have not worked. It was like eight years and three games and all the stuff, you know, I don't think Nintendo
was as interested in doing that. They wanted it to be like, I want to done kind of thing. Yeah. And it really did feel like they wanted to use this game to celebrate this anniversary, which was different because usually they don't do things like that. But Mr. Irony may even set in the draft, you know, we made this game for the 48th anniversary of Zelda. And it seemed like, you know, for them, it is kind of like the definitive Zelda game, you know, the greatest of all time Zelda games, even maybe beyond, you know, birth of the wild tears of the Kingdom that sold so much. It's like for these developers, so these people that made the series, like this kind of was like the peak. And they wanted to give it this kind of treatment for the anniversary, but really not, you know, change up the core of it too much. And that's understandable. I think that's understandable. Now, we have to get into this question later, but, you know, it is a question of like, well, it's a remake for those of us that have played this game a lot multiple times on
multiple platforms. Is it like a day one must play because it's a very faithful remake. Right. You can think back to Star Fox. Like did that hit in all the right ways when you replay that game as a faithful? I mean, if I bought Star Fox, they wanted to play that. I've got to get this and do it, you know. Yeah, I guess so. And I hate to bring it back to Mario. But again, like, you know, I, I, breath of the wild is my favorite game ever, but I am a Mario guy first. And I just thought in like, okay, what if I was in the position of we've re-re-re- remade Mario 64, the game that I've been asking for in this kind of style? I was like, I would be just like a puddle on the floor. So it's like, really? Absolutely. I would love that. I've been wanting that for a long time. Okay. So maybe that's next. I can, I can hope I can dream. Maybe. But I think that speaks to just like the power of the nostalgia of this, like, generation of games for the right generation of player. Just being timeless. Yes. Yes.
And there's a reason why it's the greatest of all time because it's timeless. You know? Yeah. Yeah. So the graphics were front and center. Yes. And obviously you can, you can watch our reaction in our reaction. But what was going through your head as you saw it as you saw it in action in the first time? Yeah. I think it just, you know, I think we knew was going to be graphically really incredible to look at. That's definitely was not a thing that we were worried about. You know, if they're going to remake this thing, it's going to be a very graphically focused, and at least what I thought was going to be a very graphically focused remake in a deliverage. It was absolutely gorgeous. I mean, like the, especially the environments I thought. It just looked so breathtakingly beautiful and to see like a very familiar world rendered in that way was really cool. You know, like all the detail. I love that scene of him walking through Castle Town. Yeah. Sort of the fullness, the vibrancy, the like the, just all the life that was happening
that you would expect to happen in a bustling castle town. You finally can see that, you know? They're all the years of pre-rendered backgrounds and very like stilted, very sparse people. Like now you can see what like they may be intended all those years ago, but couldn't do because of the technology. I do think, you know, as I'm getting used to the character models, it is interesting how much detail is just on that link character. That was, that was my first reaction. It's like, well, there's a lot here. Yeah, just like on the coast. Yeah. Yeah. I still feel that way about the link character models in particular. Yeah. But there's just a lot to take in. And I think it was, and you know, they focused on, you know, there was that dungeon. Like it wasn't until you got to Hyrule Field and started to see more. Yeah. There was that scene with the daycatcher that was really cool. Pretty cool. Yeah. I started to like understand like the visual style that they were going for a little bit and like get a lot more on board with it because it's just kind of hard to tell
in like a confined space. Yeah. Yeah. And it's just going to be an abroader scope. But I really did get to come on board with that. And it's like, all right, this is, you know, we can move beyond the Unreal Engine jokes, the AI jokes, the triple I Mario jokes, all of that. And like I do think there's some part of that that's like messed with all of our heads of like we've been seeing those for years of like some guy made, you know, I made Ocarina of time in the Unreal Engine. And it's like, there's some kind of like recalibration of like now Nintendo made this. And now this is real and official. And it's made by actual Nintendo developers. But there's kind of like kind of thing in your brain. Yeah, that's true. That needs to get sorted out. I think that the like the AI slop of like what they've done to a lot of these characters to make them HD when they before they were actually made into HD did like kind of mess with your reaction of it. Absolutely. Never seen it ever before.
You had no reference point and then you saw this version of it. I think you would have a different reaction. You probably, you know, not feel the same. You were brain wouldn't be questioning it as much because immediately we've been trained to try to spot like AI generated stuff or things that are just kind of like, you know, you just put it into Unreal Engine and it's a bit frustrating. Press the button. Like a very like, you know, not a lot of handy work has gone into it. That kind of stuff. We've been trained, I think, to be suspicious of that. So now it's like when we see something that maybe sort of sometimes can resemble that, we get like triggered. Yeah. So I think there's more like thought and discussion on that topic. Yeah. In particular, but I think it's good to just acknowledge that that is a thing. As we were looking at more character models, I started to like kind of understand the art style a little bit because it was really hard for me to like categorize the art style as
well. It's like there is a sense of realism to it, but also the sense of like fantasy. And you know, obviously these characters are not like realistic, but they're very detailed. It's not sort of an anime style, but it's also not, it's kind of hard to like pinpoint, you know, what exactly the style is. Right. And it's interesting also like the decades of Zelda fans like proclaiming what they want. It was like, you know, I want, I want dark serious Zelda and like, all right, like that scene of like, you know, gain and dwarf on the horse. They're very scary. Oh my gosh. Like that's exactly what that is. And that's dark and that's really cool. And like the backlash against Windwaker. It's been this interesting like push pull for decades of like what is the art style that people want? And you know, Zelda's famous for experimenting with all these different art styles. But you know, it does seem like Nintendo in general just is kind of enamored with what they can do on a Switch 2 now. Like, oh wait, they should experiment with that.
This was this was hard for us to do with the hardware we had before, but now we can do it. Yeah. Yeah. So I think they're kind of like, oh, what else can we do with this? Yeah, it's the environment. Don't do it for Mario 64 though. Oh no. Don't do that. You don't want a realistic. I don't even GLSS 5 Mario. People face Mario. People in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the people in the everybody in the feeds. So in the people in the forums of movies and episodes, there's a label that says about the game play. Yeah, you could play level in the neighbours country through the gaming career in 0% let's say they've overordered and they've overordered and they've overordered in 6% of which since the Switch 2 really bought a newni blink back, this is definitely quite first walk of Switch 2 and we were both really surprised because for the first time they were doing that thing that other game companies or other you know tech companies do which is like that beauty trailer where they talk about
specs and they talk about graphics and I was like wow this is a real departure from like let's just feels my cubes in a joy con you know and yeah for so long for like all of the you know the experiences of like a Wii or even a Wii U it's all about like how the hardware gives you these very interesting gameplay mechanics and all the sudden now that we're in the Switch 2 and we're just playing that graphics game you know it's like okay so we're just doing this now which is fine I'm just saying that it's a it's a departure from what it was before now it's like look at this beautiful starfoss game back in the red ocean look at look at this they're in their own ocean yeah like at this beautiful it's like at what point does that kind of like wear off I've like art we've seen we've seen you do a bunch of these I don't know I feel like this nostalgia thing that they're doing is paying off for that a Metroid one like looking like one of these Metroid work yeah I mean we saw that not every not every series can go for and they already looked really nice yeah I
mean that was probably one of the best things about that game is how beautiful yeah on the topic of the art and the art style the graphics I'm gonna go through all the character yeah maybe we can pick some favorites and maybe also a few stinkers yeah yeah you don't like yeah gosh link so we have this shot of link like young young adult link look at the outfit it really is like it's bordering on too much little doodads and doylies and twisty I mean it's just like the texture is right it's like his tunics a different texture from like the vest yeah the leather the leather were the he's just the boots all the way down to the boots it's got all the little like dangle dangle I'm gonna belt how many belts does he have on he got a belt on his shoes he got a belt on his waist got a belt go in the other way this is like no more ask in terms of zippers we got belts yeah I can see somebody pointing out the you know it's not fabric it looks like it's made of like grass it is it's like woven from like grass yeah which I thought that was an interesting catch that I like as an
adult he's got like the leather sort of vest over it's a very like or he's got a two smaller I see it I see it yeah right you're right it grew with him okay leather stretches over time you know it's fine right yeah so yeah it is right it's like it's like yeah you're you're pretty close to taking this a little too far in term and then like we were we were also happy that with like y'all the designs on the top yeah it's got the embroidery it's got the headband zone there in this piece here it's like a little like little you got a little headband a little bits of grass that are like coming out of the back yeah as well yeah yeah I actually I actually would not say that that link is my favorite design out of all these I have a slam dunk favorite you do okay slam dunk let's keep going here but um we don't want to know what it is fine I do what is it it's chic oh chic chic do we have a I have a million shakes let's see I love chic and no and maybe it's you know it's working just because it's like the keep going I
got more maybe it's like the lighting and the effects oh man yeah but there's something about like the eyes the makeup are really working there seem to be like more emphasis on the ponytail this time it's got a braid kind of thing going here outfit is great is chic is chic are we doing spoils chic spoilers and 20 26 let's keep it I don't know the first time it's the first time it's never ending all right we got a preserve it for them we'll do it today at least but I don't know that was the one who was like oh this is really striking this is really working yeah yeah no I love it I think it's great I'm loving this design I love it I love it you know who I really like I like you Pona oh really we got a little baby you're excited about the horses you can see I can see the individual strands of hair Pona is like my one of my like favorite characters in the Nintendo universe is this a certain type of horse that's got this hair on
the feet like this I believe that this is a some kind of like draft horse you know because they have like the little furry feet like you were saying but a Pona is a very small horse draft horses are pretty big yeah you Pona is pretty small I don't think about how tall Link is and think about how he matches up to I don't know nothing about anyways I think Pona is great and I love I love her okay yeah link back to link though I I don't dislike link I do I do think it's like an overwhelming amount of detail to kind of internalize I think adult Link looks pretty cool though like the face look at the face very handsome yeah it's good yeah yeah I think it's good I think it's true to his look you know yeah some people saying you can look forward to this and the new Smash Brothers this look oh new new Fox McCloud and the new Smash brother there we go there we go we can update some character models and smash why not I don't really love Zelda but I've never really liked this design I
don't like it I don't like it I don't like it I don't know there's something strange about the face that is the proportions of the face are not really working for me that was a beautiful princess yeah and I love her but this is not my favorite design of Zelda period I was I strongly agree but look at all of the like embroidery on this and on the shoulder of the dress it's like that looks really real it really does and really cool so just like all the fabric yeah again like really intricate and the clothing for some of these main characters they've really put a lot of emphasis on that but yeah the face like that scene where she kind of turned around I was like yeah I but I never liked that scene I've always thought she was kind of like funky looking yeah like even in the in the original games whenever she turns she would turn around be like oh okay she's not what I kind of expected yeah um Ganon what did you think this is this is this is this is not hot Ganon door this is not hot Ganon door this is kind of like really terrifying scary definitely terrifying yeah terrifying Ganon door I'm
kind of neutral yeah yeah I feel like this hasn't changed too I think you're right I think maybe that's why it's out of all of the different characters that have had like a glow up you know like this is not the one that had like a very dramatic glow up you know okay yeah gore-ons your beloved gore-ons what do you think of the gore-ons they look cool yeah I think so too they're not as well belly button there he's got a little a little portly but very strong arms look at how big he's got links right there link is very small compared to the gore-on um yeah see this is what I'm always terrified when we go the more like quote realistic round is like are the the more fantastical creatures like a gore-on for example going to look absolutely like unhinged yeah which was what I was saying about the movie too is like gosh what is a gore-on the Zelda movie gonna look like is that gonna be a real weird like I don't know this one looks good though I'm okay with this kind of style for the fantastical creatures okay but yeah was there anything
else about the game beyond the visuals that surprised you as we went through this direct that's the thing like nothing surprised me and everything was exactly what I expected it to happen so maybe my reaction was a bit like I'm not sure if I can't remember what happened anymore but maybe it was a little bit muted because as it was happening I I was like okay now he's gonna jump now you know and there's like little gameplay innovations and things like that like I was pretty sure they were gonna do some like low quality of life things which they did and and all that stuff but I would say like nothing surprised me yeah okay the launch date surprised me is a little earlier than I thought that's a week a week difference it's not yeah I feel that I mean I think I was surprised that there was not really any movie news we'll talk about the movie oh yeah the movie yeah as far as I was I asked you about our career yeah I feel the same way it was like yeah if you were remaking it and and had that scope
this is probably what you would do yeah yeah so I mean it wasn't bad it wasn't like I wish I was surprised I was like no I was just like watching it like yeah this is what I thought would be and yeah and seeing it it was still really cool like seeing it for reals was still fun but it wasn't like oh my god I never expected they would do this I did not have that reaction it off throughout any of this we've done this a number of times so I should probably remember is a carina a top three Zelda for you a top five Zelda for you I think it's top five at this point yeah I think because breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom came out and they can't go for me it's probably like a round five yeah yeah I would say I mean my top three is I can tell you right now is tears of the kingdom when waker and toilet princess so breath the was on the top three I mean it's not the same breath of the ball you're combined oh that's fine yeah allow you I'm allowed to do that yeah so we have all of we haven't list of all the new additions for a carina of time we can go through that yeah you can jump you
can I as soon as they're doing as soon as he started to walk over to that little like area with the stones and the river I'm like he's gonna jump now again we we had maybe a bit of a disagreement about the implementation of jumping in the original game it's a jump automatic it happened for you but but it's nice that you have a jump button but it's like what can you do what am I doing with this jump button that I couldn't do before you're playing a very interactive game you wanted to be like you are controlling this character just more to do what just more immersion I guess did it jump around I guess like a goofball like a goofball a goofball what about during like fighting is there like a jump dodge is there some kind of fighting combo maybe that you're adding on to I don't know I'm you know maybe I mean the combat of this was never like super duper crazy yeah so that's that's my big question is like I'm okay I like this but what am I doing with it just press the button we lost the between lost our in you know perpetual rolling now we got to jump now you
can jump perpetually you can still roll roll and do a sprint that's even better roll and do a sprint yeah you can get across high-row field in light if you roll and sprint you can literally do it in like 15 seconds don't make it don't make him go so fast though that's gonna feel too small you can speedrun it you have to intentionally slow him down we now have obviously the right stick camera control are we only had one stick on the Nintendo 64 there's this new inventory system which is interesting yeah I saw this I saw this in the original game it was like it literally showed you like all here all the N64 buttons and here's what everything does right now to yeah so now we just have this this thing in the corner where it does kind of bring up not this the tears of the kingdom like they scroll through everything because of wisdom hate this yeah hate this but there's not as many items here some people also okay some people also did spot maybe a different inventory management thing using the face buttons it would come up at different times this is the biggest
thing to make better in the next Zelda game is inventory management I don't know by the end of the game you're gonna have a lot of stuff are you really how many decunence can you possibly get enough stuff so I don't know yeah I hate I'll reserve judgment on this yeah I hated the inventory system in well that got out of control yeah really out of control and echoes of wisdom and then they get a few all that's you're not doing any of that stuff you're not doing that stuff here so it's fine yeah but but it is very tedious you know the inventory system for for these latest batch of Zelda games have all been very tedious yeah yeah it should definitely do something to try to like take down the tedium the day and night cycle will continue in towns now which is that's nice atmospheric thing yeah like that orchestral music potentially the music is so good did you listen to the Nintendo music I did I listened to my way here nice very nice opening the okay scene yeah which gives me the feels like a time yeah that's
actually huge characters have voices and cutscenes you noted that the characters did not move their mouths during yeah there were some scenes where they were supposed to be talking and they were just like I hate that like oh this is what happened when okay well this is not exactly the same but it kind of reminds me a little bit of this where there were these like really dramatic cutscenes in Pokemon Legends EA and Pokemon's been notorious for this and it's like if they only just didn't made a little bit more effort yeah you know to to have these voice to have the the characters be expressive in these cutscenes like to your point like move the lips you know just to to make it feel a bit more cinematic it would go a really long way so I mean it's great that we have these cutscenes with the voices link has yet to say a word but you've not got it it it is kind of
strange that it's almost like the these half measures you know to make it feel more modern and cinematic and they just don't go like all the way into this that's a little strange right I think the voices were good of what we do yeah it's not like a super cutscene heavy game in the first place so it's like while you're not getting that much total but it's it is worthwhile I think to add in this new feature threads of time so this is kind of in like the pause menu kind of yeah that thing with the big tapestry see where you are in the story see what you got to go next it's like all right that's kind of basic but it look cool it's pretty tapestry look cool I like the tapestry and then finally you can hum tunes to the awkward to the right now I know I'm one right now this is that that this is one of those things where it's like you do at once to see oh yeah works and then you never do you can also play the acarina because I keep that at arms length it all right there I can see it at arms length right now I'm
gonna I'm a mealner summon it I thought that your awkward to play was better than Mr. Anuva I don't know check the tape I don't know he probably had limited time to learn the acarina you had 20 minutes to learn it not even you have like five minutes right just saying Mr. Anuva could learn a thing or two from your acarina playing okay he's under like me I didn't have the control but the I don't know you can play a saxophone so maybe that's why but you can play the acarina into the switch microphone sure it have it you can you could do that you can hum a to me you can whistle immersion yes whistle we know how to whistle but are you really gonna do this the first time it's like I didn't get that you're gonna be mad but that's theory can you do that again no it's gonna get it it's not I think I can whistle probably all of that are just are at least hard that could be a fun video when this comes out can you perfectly get it to recognize oh I bet it's all of these great no problem great
we'll do no problem any song I can do it I can do it so you know some of again this is kind of the list of the new edition yeah some of these were kind of scraping to be like oh yeah that we got a tapestry yes you know what was really surprising to me actually now that I think about it is why did Fuji-Bioche song come out and do like a five minutes like we're gonna get to that oh we haven't gotten to that we're gonna get that we got to talk about that we then I will hold my thoughts on the Zelda notes as that was called Zelda notes yeah we're gonna talk yeah so Zelda notes as a whole other edition in the app then I will hold my thoughts we're gonna talk we we must talk about that anything else in terms of like what they could reasonably have put in here that you're like oh why didn't they do this well now people are again the boomer mills are spinning again people are talking about this light temple yeah thing and it's like well they didn't tell us about the underground for years of the kingdom they like to hold these surprises so that would be a big
surprise yeah that is secret dungeon that they've yet to surprise that would be a big surprise that would be that would be I wouldn't say that it would it's completely out of the realm of possibility you can't rule it out you can't rule it out so yeah I mean I wouldn't say like yes with pin our hopes and dreams onto this thing but if they wanted to do just you know one or two little extra things that's a big surprise at launch could be it yeah could be something you know they made that that deep that point of and I don't know why they did this they're like oh we we kept the load times between areas oh yeah for nostalgia it's like did you suggest that you didn't have to do this like it could have just seamlessly loaded up because that would in that case it would be nice to have an option to just turn it off it's like actually don't actually don't actually don't want the actually don't want load times yeah I want the salad but like yeah the first time the first load time it's like oh yeah remember that off I don't think I think they need load times okay well then that was kind of a
weird way to position it though well they're just trying to like talk you maybe don't talk about it at all pretend like oh yeah we put this on it's like this feature is a bug this bug is a feature is like that kind of a very like techie kind of thing way to position a bug okay don't do that don't do that like you just leave it alone anyway so where I have about let's see it September now so we got about two months yeah number three is the date are there any other notable news drops versus just like people saying like yeah we played it I think that's it reviews and that's it yeah I think that I mean because there isn't well from what we've seen there isn't like a significant amount of new content so you probably don't need to do much more they may be do some previews yeah yeah probably some new trailers like they seem they were not shy at all of showing that's really just showed you the whole footage throughout the whole game they can do a couple more of those showed you the whole game so
good they can do a couple more of those if they wanted to down don't really have to honestly because you kind of saw it all yeah unless there is some big surprise that they're gonna hold until you know very close to launch or whatever and maybe then they'll reveal it right before the game comes out or something I don't know or maybe they just leave it for you to find I don't know so one of the big questions we still have about this game is we do not know who is developing it and it seems like that's never that's not been a priority of theirs to share that yeah much in advance read the credits does even matter at this point though doesn't matter none of it I mean people want to know it's interesting interesting to find out and you can kind of sometimes read a thing or two into it yeah the monolith soft rumor now that you've seen it do you have any opinion on that I think it could be possible I mean I'm sure they're involved in one way or there's somehow involved yeah yeah what like they're involved in almost everything and then to know like oh yeah so it's
like it's almost the same as like an extension of the team I mean they do have limits they like all human beings they do have limited capacity to do things and it's interesting they work on so many games it's true yeah just give them all the stuff to do dump it on them they'll do it yeah yeah but but yeah I'm not yeah I'm not particularly interested in playing like oh I've cracked it you know who who's developing this yeah it's like it's like all right we saw like I'm new as super involved food to be I'll she involved I didn't expect that that was again that's a surprise to me to do what it's like all right this isn't good hands like they will shape this the way they want it to be and again because they're not doing a full reimagining of this and it's just a faithful remake it's not as hard yeah you know just that's the full stuff it's just not as hard you've got to reach the same level of quality that's not that's not easy that's not easy but that's something that knows very versed in doing so it's not like you have to be worried about much you know what I mean so
another 99 metacritics coming up sure I'm not reviewing this game and now we know why the game is so this leaked actually last night it did I saw the price yeah the game is $60 digital $70 physical so we have avoided another $80 game yes and if you get the physical there is this thing where the first print run and we don't we don't know exactly what that means it has this textured foil cover art foiled cover so beautiful art there is no game card that is gold that's that's too bad yeah but I guess this is kind of their olive branch they should at least make the case gold I guess they can what part of the case like the red could be cool that would be so cool it's even more than making the cartridge alright a girl could hope if they did that if they had made like a
gold cartridge or like the box was I mean that it was that it was totally been a physical purchase yeah that was came up when we had Zelda games of like oh we should do the thing in gold and it was very quickly like we can't we just can't we can't yeah it's very expensive yeah it's to do these kind of thing exactly it's not worth the money yeah so digital for me physical for you so there I should say there was some concern going around that this was only available through the Nintendo store it's not though it is not yeah this is available anywhere but it is it is again in the first print run which is kind of a vague thing yeah like what what does that mean how like how many it's like it's like if you just if you want it like if you buy it day one seems like you're definitely gonna get it so just do that yeah and you've pre-ordered yours already so it's actually not so I wanted to do the thing where on either Amazon or Walmart you can get ten dollars off the game actually was not up at all on any of those places okay as of us recording this so I'm waiting to check those because I'd
like to save ten dollars if I get what if you don't get the first run why would I not get the first run I just said it's on day one okay you just count it you know but you need to buy it on Nintendo they're called no I didn't say that I was just making you just fell for you waiting around doesn't mean that it's like the second run or something it just kind of announced today I'll be fine I'm not worried at all you don't you you're concerned trolling right now I'm not and I don't like it you better hope that the Amazon pre-order doesn't cancel itself too now they're afraid of me now they they've learned it was I yelled at that AI I let it happen okay so here's a big question will this game bring in the new players who came into the series on breath of wild tears yeah when he was going through the presentation with the gameplay Mr. Anuma it really did feel like that was the person he's speaking to yeah is like and he even said specifically in the draft he was like this was very
different from tears of the kingdom here is how it's different let me show you exactly exactly exactly exactly because there's these dungeons in those games there are no no dungeons and there is no like it's not like you get the weapon and you see like let's look like it was literally that it was like this is not tears of the kingdom this one you need to get the thing and the dungeon look around and see what you can do to solve the puzzle and so he was really going through it in a way where it was meant for that audience it's like if you had stepped into the world of Zelda through breath of the wild tears of the kingdom and then your next Zelda game is all creative time remake you're gonna have a bit of a different experience don't expect tears the kingdom but expect this different way of playing a Zelda game I think the people's minds would be open to try something different they may try it and be like oh this is not for me but I think they would at least try I think they'll at least try I
think the answer is yes or no I think you know that like the sales floor for all these series just got lifted up in the switch generation where you saw every franchise was like oh it's said a new record is it at least you know millions and breath of the wild tears of the kingdom combined sold like 50 million copies yeah it's incredible and we didn't have echoes of wisdom in the meantime that's that's become a quickly forgotten game unfortunately yeah and that did not like set the world on fire but I do some stuff of sales but that was also top down and this is like aesthetically maybe more what that audience is looking for yeah so I think I think I think there will be I think there's some who are gonna be like yes I'm in or maybe like yes I know somebody who swears by this game I'll check it out and I think there's others who are just like no I want the new ones yeah I'm not interested so I don't think it's gonna be like a 20 million seller I think it could you know 10 10 maybe which is still a great number I think eight to 10 is for a game like this yeah was reasonable yeah but it's not gonna be for it's not all of those people are coming on board for this I do wonder how
many new people play the new star box game was like I'm a forever star box fan now like what does that percentage won't ever know but we'll have to wait and see yeah that's we still don't really know sales numbers for that game exactly yeah that's like a similar situation is like you maybe your interest might be definitely peaked from this direct and from seeing the game and how beautiful it is for her but once you get into like the nitty-gritty gameplay of what the authoritative time is and you you see the differences for yourself as it's here's the kingdom breath of the wild player you will have to decide whether or not this is the kind of Zelda game right you but in terms of like in terms of who's buying this game just like you know I do think this is a system seller because remember when this game first got announced and we started seeing all of these like TikToks and Instagram Reels like I've been activated of like people who don't really care about games much at all like oh this is I know this and I remember this yeah that's what I'm saying to is like the nostalgic what the weapon of nostalgia is so powerful that yeah you you will get new players two
ways one is new players that own a switch but hasn't played a new Zelda game since breath of the wild tears of the kingdom and will now jump into a different kind of Zelda game you this and then there is also that new player that's like oh I haven't really been gaining that much I know what a switch to is I know what Nintendo is I used to play Nintendo games when I was a kid or when I was a teen and this was you know my game at a critical time in my life formative years and it's back and now I'm getting that switch to for this game so powerful weapon so I asked you the ridiculous question of is this game also getting a 99 to which you I can't believe it you said yes I said maybe I'm my question is is this cracking 90 it's not getting the 90 is it cracking absolutely not getting to 99 I was just joking but is it getting to 90 tough these days yeah really depends who's reviewing it depends on who's reviewing the nace that you know the nace airs are like oh it's showing its age like that
kind of stuff yeah it might be close might be like an 89 who's got the cajonis to give ocarina of time and eight somebody someone is good somebody to do somebody by giving a seven someone had to be good nuts to give it a seven seems like an insane thing to say but yeah I agree yeah and also like there's always that other phenomenon that can happen is like you finally like you know we're all going on what we saw we saw 15 minutes of this game looked very pretty once we get it in our hands though and people start playing it more feelings will come up like a night of feelings of like this is live up to the original does this you know actually is this in actual like well done remake like does it is it is it losing some kind of quality what I mean that's the thing that will keep it from getting that I ask you is this a top five Zelda for you because it's like all right it's the best rated game ever but it's not a top
five Zelda for either yeah that's fine I love this game but it's not a top five so it's not top five it's not top three for these are not like black and white it's like oh what's everybody's favorite Zelda game yeah it's a lot of people's favorite kind of not how it works and this game also came out a long time ago when game reviews were a little different a little smaller yeah yeah based on 22 22 reviews it's not very many people no those people have how many nuts they who nuts collectively among them we're moving on so the release date November 5th yes not the amoebo theory of the 12th and not on GTA launch day which is the 19th so what do you think of this launch date I think it's great thank god because again if it had happened where this was on the same day as GTA and I saw that this was a faithful remake I would be playing
you prioritize G.I. would 100% prioritized yeah I don't have to yeah now I can finish this game before it comes out yeah I think this is a great date and I don't know why more people didn't bring it up maybe it was just the amoeba thing that people got so yeah into because you know last week we went through all the dates once you get in November there's not that many games I mean there's Barbie and then that's it and the fifth is like all right that's two weeks before GTA yeah you can beat it you can get it's not the that long and be done with this so like this narrative that like oh you you must stay away from November at all costs it's like you actually don't and I think this is a perfect way to thread the needle so very very smart on them to pick this day super smart and really nice that it is now not an issue at all for most people to be able to play and and beat it before you know even GTA comes out so yeah that's awesome now what is not coming out this year I did a double take it this I was like wait is that right these amoeba they're available 207 yeah yeah do you know the price
of these no I hadn't seen those okay but maybe not $50 right no I don't think they're $50 but I also you know the price of amoeba is not super cheap these days yeah that's true I gotta be honest I don't really like either of these and I don't think I'm gonna get them yeah I'm not really into either I mean I guess I like link a little bit more than Zelda but I just don't like that Zelda design to begin with so I also like kind of can't believe that this is this is all it's like and especially the way it's positioned like oh young link young Zelda it's like that implies there's an adult link yeah and it's like why are we choosing the young side of this to represent this game they're really interesting part of it too is like in the gameplay part of it he never showed the adult link it was only the trailer that showed the adult yeah so it's like that maybe those will be revealed that's like a second wave or something but all you get are these and 64-style masks I don't like it which
I think look kind of weird and by 2027 like I'm gonna have this game on the shelf so you're gonna be done and forgot this we've done and I don't I don't understand this he is wearing shorts yes okay I mean it looks like it's it looks like a high-quality amiibo it does it's kind of cool to see it you know on the package like the image with the amiibo next to it how closely they have matched that yeah but I'm not excited by these yeah I do like the the background of the tapestry in the back the art is great the art is great but the amiibo themselves is definitely a skip for me yep the special edition hardware they got leaked is what they revealed yeah so there was the system there was the pro controller there was also a case and not the joy con are not sold separately so you can't get and you can't get the doc separately so you know you have to get the whole thing or the other option is just the
case and the pro controller yeah are you getting this now no yeah no this just the doc separately the doc is really cool I think it's really nice I know but I mean I already have a switch to I mean not buying very very expensive to buy another one one that's five hundred dollars now nothing yeah so I think again when I was going through all the stuff I also didn't see the the links for this being live yet so I don't think we actually know the price I am assuming the price is the same it's just a regular switch the game is not bundled comes out it comes out before the game yeah I says games hold separate that's usually their strategy the system comes out like a week or so before the game yeah so again that's my assumption is that it's just exactly the same and it's just got this cool design visual on it yeah I mean it does look really nice we will have to see yeah I really like I really like the design yeah maybe not worth the five hundred dollars yeah Zelda notes we got to talk about this so Zelda notes
so we got this like five-minute segment with Fuji Biyoshi talking about his cool app and I want to read that this is this is from the press release I'll just read this because I think it does give a hint at like what they're trying to do here there will also be several new features added to the Zelda notes a game specific service that players can use with an Nintendo switch app for compatible smart devices currently the service supports the switch to editions of breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom in various ways support for ocarina of time will help players track their adventure challenge them to find in game locations using hint images let them play a virtual ocarina take a daily quiz with over two thousand total questions and more a daily quiz great so it's like you know with them shouting out these other games it's like do they really have a big picture aspiration of like oh yeah every Zelda game we're gonna use that Zelda notes we're way into this it sounds like it it sounds it does sound like it it sounds like this is like this companion thing right they're using it as a way to sort of link the Zelda universe together game-wise
not lore-wise just in terms of the games just to like build that like you'll use this for breath of the wild now use it for ocarina of time yeah like this kind of this idea of this companion app seems to be something that they're super into I never used it for I mean I had already finished playing tears of the kingdom by the time they came out with this and I did tinker around with it a little bit with the switch to editions of those games very briefly so I don't have a habit of using these but some people do I don't know the like how many but I have heard that some people do like to you know the sickos that are getting all those corrocks they're using the same attract that stuff yeah I mean part of me is like I mean some of it you can't but like as much of it that could go in the game just put it in the game yeah like I don't need a daily quiz in the game that can go like that could that sounds like a Nintendo today kind of thing honestly yeah so yeah I just don't get it it feels like a
very antiquated idea the second screen experience like we've been around that the canyon apps are a very antiquated every company took many laps around that like yeah we have the Wii U Xbox had smart glass remember that and it was like yeah my my cynical thing is that they want to track you sure they want to data mine you yeah because your your data is very important and they want to see what you're up to you know sneaky sneaky not but not so sneaky because it's very obvious I was surprised that he was the one that was working on this it's like don't you have bigger fish to fry like me yeah that was not that was not a game that was not great like you got bigger things to do not great to attach him to this even if he is like super involved it's like that's what I'm thinking too is like it's just it feels like he is meant for bigger things then the canyon out which I mean I get that they think is cool but you know it gives you a sort of a weird feeling is it cool is this what you're working on or is
are you working on other stuff you know so that that that you know what surprised me was that they're still trying to make the next 3d Zelda game work on a switch one that's what they're going to and then we realize the switch to existed it just didn't work we spent three years making a Zelda notes and then we realized that the characters name was the link the scary thing is that could actually happen yeah that's a scary thing that is a scary thing that is that they're very siloed and we got super into Zelda notes and we forgot to make the game now but seriously they can they get very fixated on searching things so yeah I see it so moving beyond a carina very little information on the Zelda movie what's with the Miyamoto trolling on the Zelda movie where he showed the logo and then we were like waiting and it was like a black screen and he was like then it was like just the date and then anyway that's it I don't know that was strange I thought and that was it was never I don't think it was positioned as like working title or anything like that before no that did not
make it sound like yeah that's the title but it was the title we already knew that I don't know why he needed to clarify that yeah I guess that the biggest like kind of hint slash info that we got was Mr. Miyamoto saying that like it's not one game storyline that's gonna be the movie it's like we're pulling from all the games in its 40 so in their words based on the stories ideas and concepts of the Legend of Zelda yes which I think it's I think could be fine but I have the same kind of thought that I have with the Mario movies where it's like you want this to be a franchise don't burn through all the ideas like unless it's bad then we don't want it to be a franchise the Mario movie was never bad well some people think it is I like it but I like it too but again like in that last Mario movie it's like all right you burn through a lot of things that could have been bigger parts of future movies and you made it like a small thing in there you could spin them off you could but it's not it's not as fresh as if like oh we know we haven't done this before yeah for Zelda I think it's
much harder to spin stuff off what are you gonna do like the Zora edition of I mean I don't know if like we have a game that's pulling from like a half dozen game or if you have a movie that's pulling from half dozen games then it's like okay well then what's the next one well because they don't have a story you're gonna want to do the next one they don't have like an actual story to tell because it's not in the game so they have to write a story and I'm sure the movie people probably were like going through the games and looking at the very thin stories in each of the games we're like you can't make this you said what the hell you can't make this into a movie we need four games to make one movie or whatever do you see this from Nintendo a rod productions and Sony pictures a rod productions is in the middle they get listed really you're rods getting listed a rod productions that gave me a shiver so some people were like oh this is this this is bad news that the movie was not here like the movie might be written rough shape no did you did were you concerned about that I'm not concerned about that I'm not either I think it's fine I think it's like they they've just
collectively found some other opportunity to have another opportunity to do it that they're into so I think this is coming up soon though whatever yeah we're gonna the first look yeah next couple of next couple months for sure oh for sure if not sooner in the next tomorrow couple of weeks tomorrow well not tomorrow why not we already did this so so never see that common you know what I didn't surprise until I know you know what I didn't like seeing that Zelda direct pigment man mr. me a man shameless sir I love you but you gotta stop with that it's it's it's it's looking desperate sir I'm glad that you're coming over to my side on this this is my beloved Zelda it's too much it's stupid Mario who cares but in a beloved Zelda direct we don't need to be distracted by these little things dancing around doing whatever you know in a cafeteria or whatever um but yeah I mean it is interesting but they're doing with this movie I just like we got to preserve our panic until we see yeah I would have liked just a little although I get like the casting
stuff that hit me yeah give us a one that was like a month ago yeah like give us something give us like a 10 second teaser yeah just link running through the field so I think so I think again when I think about like my overall reactions to this direct it's like all right we got a lot on ocarina of time but it's like what what other substantial information nothing was there it's not that much really well we got these concerts the concerts yes the concerts we can talk about that yeah so this is a strange thing where they shouted out this website and they also had it linked in the press release yeah but they're like oh it'll be up later today so I initially click through it and it was like no yeah totally broken totally broken and then they did pop up it's like a little while it's well you were able to get through and then I was click and I was getting error so they're probably dealing with very high traffic okay but they do have a somewhat schedule up now a lot of people have pointed out there are not many confirmed dates cities oh city so it's like where's Los Angeles or New York not here the two biggest cities and you know they have Chicago not there we have three dates in Seattle thank God why not go on there we have three
dates we have San Francisco yeah we have one date there but it's it's very like hit or miss it's like most everything else has a date San Francisco only has a month well San Francisco symphony is very busy they need to work well so that's my point is all of these ones that are not listed like this is not the final thing they're scheduling out the dates the locations yeah all of that which is a big logistical thing so I think this is just what they have locked down for now and definitely many many more dates to come I'm just happy it's gonna be in San Francisco of course it's gonna be in San Francisco our Davies is wonderful yes and we'll definitely go we'll be there we'll be there yeah this is being done by a different company yeah it's not the same one it was like video game concerts yeah it seemed to be based I looked at their website they seem to be based out of Europe uh-huh versus the 25th and everything the goddesses which which was done by a completely different group JMP productions was that so yeah I'm looking forward to this doesn't start until next
year um so we're still a ways out from yeah yeah yeah they seem to be making an even longer deal of this anniversary than they did the Mario one I know and again we were still we're like we're still here like they're still tweeting stuff about the Mario in a verse we feel like that's just like close the book on that that's over yeah we're gonna make way for Zelda right so so this so this will be a way this a long term thing yeah I mean all the way until October of next year and they're probably gonna add more dates too so what says here ticket sales are scheduled to begin from September 2026 with exact date sales varying by venue additional cities and countries will be announced in the city so don't worry yeah you'll you'll be able to find and go be able to find unless unless you're in like a smaller city I knew it you might want to worry well you can maybe drive to the next biggest city yeah or something yeah catch it catch it there but I think it's coming around so it's okay yeah so any other thoughts on this direct no what comes next for Zelda yeah I mean
hopefully it's not just Zelda notes is this in the tree house live tomorrow you think they're gonna play it in tree house live tomorrow why wouldn't they I guess so play the same section that he played like that dungeon play that dungeon yeah play the first dungeon yeah all right show a tiny bit of high roll field and just shut it down yeah walk around castle town a little bit yeah okay yeah I think that makes sense yeah fine but I think from here it's like a pretty standard marketing rollout there's not much time left no so you just you you have mere mere month singular to do it if it's launching early November you really just have you have less than two months you have less than two months yeah to to do anything else but they don't they don't need a lot of time I that's what I'm saying you don't need a lot of time because this is pretty straightforward you know yeah and people are on board so you don't you don't really need much at all you can just you can just go so yeah I think I mean I do go back to what we've been talking about of like the timing of this direct we just had
games calm we just had packs two big opportunities like oh yeah we got a demo that's the that's the dungeon play the first dungeon yeah and you could have had however many thousands of people play that and get excited yeah whatever I mean again maybe they have some other opportunity in mind just seems like a it's a bit of a miss oh well yeah maybe it's just bad timing yeah and all of that okay so we gave the direct both a bee this morning and I'm going to give you an out if you would like to regrade it now I think it's a big solid be really fun great opener awesome to see more of a creative time as expected very little anything else except for concerts yeah pretty much our entire predictions on this was like accurate except for the movie you put except for the movie you predicted concerts there was also this like museum thing that they talked about a little bit the occupant of time stuff was exactly as predicted yet the movies we both we both were expecting more
from that it's interesting that they didn't do that um but yeah solid be I think really solid direct yeah I'm gonna stick with the bee as well for those same reasons of like for a direct you kind of expect more on the margins of the big thing and there's just like kind of wasn't a lot there and and then we you know with the implementation of the remake being being what it is it's like the big pop-off of getting something that super surprises you that you'd never seen before it's it's kind of off the table so bee's not a bad score at all no um I think it's a great start considering you know we got another day of this yeah yeah it gets really solid what else is happening tomorrow that's exciting I'm sure there's gonna be a lot so yeah yeah take a question from Tobias of 704 with the Zelda direct just behind us I found it interesting that afterwards thousands of people ran to the Nintendo store website uh ending up and me ending up in a 10 minute queue just to see nothing no pre-orders for anything no game no hardware no anything else although also with how slow certain portions of the direct were I wanted to know when I could buy tickets for the
orchestra and all the other dates in Europe I'm curious on your thoughts if I have high expectations or maybe even have answers to why things are handled this way and I think he's referring to like after the fact I couldn't pre-order the game it wasn't up on all these other sites he went to the Nintendo's place to get hardware wasn't there you clicked on the button for the symphony it wasn't up why why is not everything tightly linked to the end of this event that's not good I mean this could be I can this could be a counter leak freak out no yeah nobody presses any buttons nobody sets anything up in the back and don't schedule it don't schedule it but I mean that that's a that's a great point is that when you have an event like an Nintendo direct people have so much excitement and passion I want to do something you got to give them something to do with that excitement and passion and that goes back to why that last reveal was such a miss because it's like you couldn't even pre-order it that yeah the product GTA know nothing I didn't do that but a lot of people did
it's like you can't argue though well people didn't know enough like people don't care people are excited excited they want to put their excitement into a thing they want to put it into a pre-order you as a company that wants to make money should really capitalize on that yeah that's like free money right there yeah that you're you're leaving on the table yeah and then you didn't give people a way to take action and I think today was effective at doing that assuming all this stuff got got ironed out but it's like all right you've had three months of people wanting to pre-order this game too exactly exactly but yeah I do think I mean they're really really much to leak in this direct anyway like you weren't revealing a new game running like that so get the stuff ready to go and besides you already leaked the price like the night before so it's like I mean nothing really is keeping you from I feel like that that again it's like that thing where it's like let's put up these fake security measures that actually don't do anything right they're missing the point to make ourselves feel better about controlling the leaks but we're actually
we have no clue how to control these leaks yeah so it's silly we asked patreon's our patreon subscribers what they thought of the direct and 45% it wasn't a nice 40% said it was a B okay very close 12% said it was a C 3% said it was a D and 0% said it wasn't F all right I thought I don't think that means nobody said it was enough because I saw one comment that somebody said it wasn't F oh no didn't register it did we had so many votes that it didn't it didn't make it so thought are you surprised by this no no not at all okay I think a lot like in I go back to that other poll where the most people said I wanted it to be an expanded remand I do think when people saw it they like came around a little bit too yeah okay Jacob Ragsdale said I'm honestly a little disappointed the fact that we didn't even get a teaser trailer for the movie is wild ocarina of time looks good I think but it gave me the same visceral reaction that seeing star fogs did once I get used to it I think it will look good I'm also a bit disappointed it is just a straight one-to-one remake but I'm certainly not surprised the nature said a super solid B
I'm really happy to to have seen some gameplay for ocarina of time movie updates and love to hear that the Zelda symphony is coming back I'd say the only thing keeping it from an A was more game-related announcements like any switch to game upgrades or an NSO update however it sounds like there will be more to come with the 40th anniversary which I am excited for and finally Logan Affleck says Nintendo did a great job of showcasing the game and I'm excited for the additional run of Zelda Orchestra the Zelda hardware is our first look at a limited edition console and it looks great however the lack of footage for the film nearly a frame of footage is quite concerning it's either a marketing ploy to direct focus to the game or there's something to be worried about next the part of the direct that felt like eating sand the extended look at the Zelda note app this was truly an exceptionally dull corporate and out of touch eating sand that's a very good description of how we felt too it's like what what's happening here yeah yeah yeah yeah these are very reasonable yeah I do think people did come around seeing the footage for the first time
because it's very difficult to have any valid sort of based in reality opinion when all you solve a sleeping baby which is one that we took that poll the first time so once people started seeing it like maybe they were like okay this this is this looks good or like I feel good about this you know all right I guess I'm just not used to the positive outcome of these things it needs to be a tends to default to people being upset or give it time rugpole or something like that people will be upset soon people will find it yes don't worry any before we you know we're closing the book on the Zelda direct thoughts about tomorrow that you have not expressed in our previous predictions or anything else man the rumor mills really are wild now it's gotten it's too much the smash is coming the animal crossing coming all the things are coming it's really too much my my final thoughts are like let's temper these expectations and just go into with open minds and hearts and have a good time yeah just kind of like this is that like nowadays I'm pretty
I'm pretty trained to expect not to be surprised right you know what I mean but so so so so if they do surprise me then it's like a pleasant like wow that's great I didn't do that one comment you know but I'm not like psyche myself up for every big surprise possible yeah yeah okay we're not done we're not done so we kind of took this week's podcast and we kind of split up some of the other stuff that we normally do so today we're gonna be talking about games we're playing now and then tomorrow would be back with other news things that are happening so there might be more news on this or other things on the industry that we're talking about so games are playing you could check out the final fantasy resonance demo that came out after the state of play last week yep yep I've been playing that's a really interesting demo all your progress that's carry over to the final game but instead of like capping you to a certain portion of the game it it level caps you so basically you can get up to level 15 and as with demo ends oh so you can
sort of freely explore a little bit that's an interesting way to do it I like it I like that way of doing it's kind of I guess does the game just remember where you were in the story and it's like picks up there I think so I think it just transfers in to where they don't want people grinding to be like level 99 in the demo I guess not I mean you probably wouldn't want to do it because you could be in the little like open like the you know area where you just run into enemies and do it do it okay wow there is like a pretty linear story path right now that you're sort of forced to go down if you're doing that I mean you could certainly not do that just stop in the in the middle of it and just get to level 15 and and then that's that's where you stop yeah but there is a pretty linear path you know you you are sort of like it's a typical kind of RPG story like you're you're a hero you're you're helping out the king oh no something bad happened to the king the castles on fire
what's happening you know you're sort of doing the typical RPG stuff and then the the sort of the unique aspect of this game is you get these visions and these visions are like past final fantasy heroes that's where you see like the recognizable heroes I've not seen like a cloud or a sepharov yet yeah but you do see some other like you know pretty recognizable final fantasy heroes so are these just like you know summons or like what are these sort of they basically when you battle they just stand right behind you and you can use their powers and what like what is the story reasoning for them to be there it's very much like oh this is a chest locked in the basement and you you find the visions and stuff it the story is not like really grabbing me to be quite honest yeah um you made a funny comparison when I was telling you I was playing the semi you're like is it like fire emblem engaged where they're kind of like just doubling down on these like let's rely on the the the the fame of the past heroes which
they are a little bit we got everybody yeah the look of the game is really pretty it's like that HD 2D screen x look yeah which is nice it's it's very nice for a final fantasy game it makes sense for a final fantasy game the battle system is nothing like crazy turn based it is turn based it is turn based um you have your visions that you can use you do also have summons that you can use like how often are you using these visions like every battle like every turn or it's like not every turn every turn what yeah oh I'm confused by that okay yeah so you can use their powers like you can just when you get to your turn you can just go down the little battle menu and select your vision and then use that character's power and that's your turn and that's you're using them to do something yes oh okay I didn't expect it to be like that it's very frequent I thought it would be like a summon words like oh it's a big deal like oh it's a tough battle I better I better bring out so and so
no oh yeah I don't know I have kind of a weird feeling about this game based off of that it didn't exactly grab me I will say okay it wasn't like oh my god this is a must play yeah so I didn't get to level 15 yet I get to play a little bit more until I get there but it wasn't immediately like a thing where I felt like yeah this is this is a must play you know what I mean yeah yeah okay that that's my my review all right well I'll have to check this out myself yeah well that your progress carries over part of it I'm like it's like I don't I don't completely I want to better grasp how this mechanic is being yeah yeah yeah yeah I maybe I need to play more to really understand it more but there's a lot going on the battle mechanic you get like a lot of different powers you get the summons you get the visions you also get like other helpers so there's just a lot like in any funnily fantasy battle system is it's quite deep but
did any of the main characters stand out no are the story of the main thing no not to me really didn't yeah the story did not grab me very curious yeah okay I started very briefly over the weekend and I'll probably talk more about this next week when I've gone even deeper Scott Pilgrim EX which is the second Scott Pilgrim beat him up game yeah I think they maybe had some confusion around the naming of this because I've seen them like I think they have some DLC that's coming out so I've seen them kind of like repushing and I'm like it's an entirely new game where I think you know that first Scott Pilgrim gave is pretty old at this point I remember I played that on a PlayStation 3 that's how old it is but I think the naming Scott Pilgrim EX suggest it's like oh it's a super like premium version of the old game what is the title of the old game uh it's Scott Pilgrim versus the world Scott I can't remember there's been so many Scott Pilgrim things
okay but this is completely new and so there is an interesting kind of like part of the Scott Pilgrim story that they're covering that I didn't immediately grasp I was only as I was reading up I was like okay that's what they're doing here because it felt like to me I was like oh I'm not familiar with this part of the story and it's like well I've seen I've read all the comics and I've seen the movies I watched a TV show TV shows are really good so this is actually picking up where the TV show left off oh the ending of that oh that's fine because in my mind I was like oh this is like the extended adventures of Scott Pilgrim where they're doing new stuff and I don't I'm not familiar with it but you know they did one season of that and it sounds like they had ideas for more story that they would have done in a second season but they didn't have the chance to do a second season yeah so they decided to do this and they've got you know the creator of Scott Pilgrim is on board in terms of giving them that story um but it is a classic beat him up the developer is the same developer that's done like they did the recent Ninja Turtles one and that Marvel cosmic
whatever like something they make a lot of beat him ups and really good beat him ups and I like the first Scott Pilgrim game when it came out but again it was so long ago like I don't exactly remember all the specifics um this is like a very like very clearly inspired by River City Ransom and maybe even like the more recent River City Girls where it's like you just have a big map at your disposal and you're very instead of it just being like this is a level and I'm going to the right you're very often like choosing I'm gonna go through this door which is gonna put me here and I'm gonna do this thing here and then we go back out that door like there's a map that you need to navigate okay to do all of this stuff do you get lost easily you can pull up the map pretty easily and then just see it it's not like I have to remember anything and it's like in your buying upgrades just like River City Ransom you're getting like stuff that you can equip so there's like a lot of depth to it um it's got a lot of like gaming references as well that I was noticing like a lot of like Mario references in the worlds just other sorts of like gaming references scattered
around so that was kind of fun to see um I haven't had a chance to dig into this new DLC that they just put out so again I'll come back and talk about that next week but I was like yeah this this this isn't really good um take on a more modern beat them up and it's been nice to see you know with um Absalom last year just like more games like trying to change up make even more that genre and make it fresh and make it cool um and I would definitely put this in that category so I'm liking I'm playing on switch two yes okay yes it is on uh switch two oh and it's got another one of those great onamonaguchi soundtracks oh that's awesome which from what I've heard I don't know if it's as good as the first one but that first one's like an all-time upgrade it's like a all-time yeah every track is awesome but it is it is still very good and and a lot of them are very catchy and it definitely helps the kind of mood and vibe yeah of the game so wow so that's great I like how it's still like a thing you know they're getting
a lot out of Scott Pilgrim it's really like they got a lot franchise that old thing now it is yeah I remember one of the first comic cons we went to at Nintendo many many many years ago it's like oh the last Scott Pilgrim book is coming out I know and that was like 15 years ago so good on them to have found a way to you know they did the movie they did the TV show they're doing other they're constantly re-releasing the books uh in different ways like they just did something re-release in a box that looked like a PSP or something I think they're in comic con this year so I guess there's sustained interest and if people have not read the comic though they should hold it it's really good yeah it's so good yeah it's so good uh we beat orbitals we did we finally beat orbitals we were stuck a little bit at the very end so there's a there's a puzzle that we got stuck on and I went ahead and just looked it up the solution to that puzzle and I couldn't believe the solution in the first video that I watched so I watched a couple more and everybody had the same
dumb solution to the puzzle it was like this is not a great implementation and who maybe this isn't even the way that they they wanted you to do this but it involves you basically like blowing your character up and like losing a life to solve the puzzle it's like yeah I don't know if that's great even though there are no lives in the game it always doesn't feel like a good mechanic seems like self-preservation should be on your mind well it just that's not a very clean mechanic right if you're solving a puzzle and the way for you to do it is to like basically blow yourself up right and then blow your partner up yeah like that yeah that is not a good game mechanics right so so we were stopped trying to think of like cleaner ways to solve this puzzle and we honestly thinking of what we just honestly could not come up with one so I'm not actually I might watch more and just see like did anybody have a different way of solving yeah I guess there's you could have planned to the bum or not so again like I think our thoughts our final thoughts on this game are very similar to what we shared before of just like it's kind of it's
kind of a game of highs and lows yeah for sure where it can really get into a good groove and have some cool ideas like there was in that same part there was a cool section where I became like this this robot go for thing and I was burwing underground and I could pop up to like throw things to you or and then I could catch it in the air yeah that was slick yeah that was so slick yeah so it's like you're just going you know from one idea to the next and some of the ideas work better than others and some of them are just unfortunately a little bit clunky yeah had a cool ending sequence I like the ending a lot through even more new ideas at you that you hadn't seen the far at the end very cool boss fight we like um I do think that like as the later latter parts of the game besides that puzzle where you are having to blow yourself up um I thought that the mechanics felt a little bit better and I wasn't sure it was because we got used to it by that point or it had just gotten better yeah but it did feel a little bit smoother and you
know we were we were definitely in a groove where we kind of knew our roles and knew what to do and and understood the weapons um you know you just kind of change around these different weapons like we were really like getting into a pretty good rhythm yeah which was fun and yeah so so I think I think that was great the the story and again this might have been us and I think I followed it a little bit better than you did but we did start the game on the airplane where we were not 100% focused like in like on the beginning of like the setup and I think you might have missed some important story details well no because when I was checking the video to see the solution to this puzzle I watched some of the opening again and I still don't understand you don't understand the setup of the story because they they try to give you this like emotional payoff you know right towards they try they do try they do try and like not both of us and I I was following the story a little bit more and you were completely like what um but both of us were like this is not
paying off yeah because we weren't really invested you know right right right um so I commend for trying but they didn't really take us on this journey so we couldn't really have that emotional payoff unfortunately yeah again not not a not a bad game by any means but definitely a notch below the haze light games definitely yeah definitely um and I am now at the I'm pretty sure I'm at the final boss of Oneem Moussha which I have stuck with and it's been about another another seven or so hours since I checked in so I'm at like 21 hours wow so right there and at the final boss you've been getting quite hard so I have been liberally using the easy mode when I get to this I'll give these bosses a couple tries and it's like if I feel like this is going to be too frustrating it's like I just bump it down which is fine is it like boss barrage at the end or you're fighting one after the end in this final sequence a little bit but they're
also starting to do these things you know there'll be those like orbs that'll appear and it's like okay it just dumps out enemies oh yeah yeah later in the game they will culminate those with enemies that previously were a boss and it's like oh now you know how to do this but there's no pretty hard in some cases yeah that's a problem so they are throwing a lot at you um and they even they also introduced another mechanic where I can like transform into like this super only um and I'm more powerful they introduce that very late into the game so again like this is like orbitals another game where it's like highs and lows it's got you know the core gameplay the sword stuff is really great but there are just some things that the game did that I'm confused by and like it didn't get the most out of these things that were in the game yeah like again this game skill tree is a total dead like I I never puts points into anything in this sculpture I was like oh this is gonna be awesome when I have this now it's just like it's just a very marginal grade I guess I'll choose this because everything else is not exciting me and this kind of
also doesn't excite me either slightly excites me more than something else there's this other mechanic of like oh you can you know you can get all these items and equip them and they'll give you little perks and boosts it's like I didn't find very many of those at all yeah and I don't know what I missed to not get those I was like all right that's that's another miss um found a lot of those those lion dogs though that was very cool that was time well spent did you get anything for getting those doggies the freeing those doggy yes there there is a reason oh okay that's good that's good that's fun and worthwhile I really liked enjoying uh I I exploring that messed up Kyoto yeah that got bigger and bigger I always had fun going around there and enjoyed that so like some of the scores for this game have been very high again like I jammed gave it a 10 like I think I pick it I haven't finished it yet but if I right now I think it's probably like between a seven and a half and an eight yeah I'll call it an eight because the sword play the sword the sword play around up for lion dogs I have you know some other
people have pointed this out we pointed this out to like two difficulty modes could probably benefit from a third in the medium yeah because sometimes sometimes the easy mode is too easy and it feels like I'm kind of like cheating my way through or it's like can I get something in the middle yeah that is just a little bit like like let's meet halfway here yeah so you know maybe we'll do that in the update or something but yeah would have been nice do the thing we can do the difficulty sliders like in Mina you know where you can customize it a little bit more people seem to really like that yeah yeah yeah yeah play your way you know um okay and then I recently ordered I realized I've been calling this game the wrong title oh no it is not the blood of the dawn walker it's wait now now what is it it's something else it is look it up it's some other combination of those words blood of the dawn walker blood of I don't know now I'm just mixing myself up oh no I did order
that you ordered that that coming that's coming today I've got another early bedtime tonight because we got it the up to earth to react to wrong I'm not going to play my watch but I'm jumping on that Wednesday for sure okay unless there's some crazy shadow drop PS5 physical oh yeah PS5 I haven't turned on my PS5 in a long time you better get those updates right I need to I need to charge a controller I'm gonna get all those updates I gotta install the game I'm gonna do all this stuff yeah yeah yeah that's so I can do all of that today yes and be ready to play tomorrow I can't wait to hear what you have to say about this game I'm really excited I'm still waiting for Witcher it look you you and I think that's the right thing to do I started I started reading the Witcher book and you last week you said you weren't gonna finish it though why did you say that I don't know if I'm gonna finish it how long is the book why wouldn't you finish it I might be I might have to be playing some fire emblem we can read a book whenever you don't even read books you listen to them I am listening to it on audio book the person that's narrating has a nice voice they have a Polish accent it's a it's a Scottish issue what that's not Polish come on but it's good so far I've seen it on
the way here I have not read all of those but I've read a couple and they're good yeah so I'm trying to get myself in the mood okay I'm already in the mood I don't know I'm good I don't need to really get that hard but I'm excited games they keep coming out yes unless it's a shadow about tomorrow you were saying then it's it's blood of the dawn walker we have some news about the blood we have some news about that game and only mousha selling really well in the news for tomorrow tomorrow tomorrow tomorrow yes we will not scoop that though okay we're gonna call this podcast here yes we'll be back tomorrow again check us out at patreon.com slash kitten christa we're doing all sorts of stuff over there we got more coming this week it'll be exclusively up on patreon if you just like to support us please help it hard to cover all these directs and such that would be very much appreciated and we see every single person who signs up and we do appreciate that yes we do probably have a really fun bonus Q&A coming up this week with lots of it's gonna be loaded direct it's gonna be related questions which is gonna be I mean this is this is a great week to join patreon for sure yeah all right we're also on social we're on twitter instagram
