Yeah.
Clean up and stay at strength in the grip.
His co-host, Charlie Hugh, you cannot pick five of the last eight winners on the PGA
course.
Oh, he's going home.
He's going home.
He's going home.
He's going home.
Yes.
And the biggest names in gone.
That's a great question.
Can I talk about it?
I don't think I'm ready.
I could as a kid, SK.
Why not?
Strike.
Today, live from the Pine Crested, it's the Smiley Show.
So long, everybody.
This is the Smiley Show.
Welcome to a on-site edition of the Smiley Show, where we are here on the TPC Sawgrass
campus.
We got scoring right behind us.
Someone's going to be, I guess, not crown the player's champion.
They'll put the John Hancock on it and earn themselves a nice little swing man trophy.
Everything comes with it.
Everything comes with this huge win at this event, a one of one, the flagship event for
the PGA tour.
And it's lovely to be here on-site.
Smiley, I got to start with, when we are on-site at events of this nature, first place
I usually hit up as the Merch 10, and this is no exception.
How you feeling in that tour visor there, bro?
Well, Freddie Couples was playing this week.
I would take him in one and done.
I feel free.
I think I was selling you this the other day that I might circle and visor on the golf course
again.
Bring it back.
Start to get the lettuce a little bit, a little more lemony, a little less brown.
Good hit.
Did you ever do the thing when, like, do you, I don't know if your parents let you bleach
your hair or not, my parents would not.
So, but I read that if you squeezed lemon juice in your hair, it'll lighten it up.
Do you ever try that?
Never went through that face thought about it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We could do like a bleach hair face here on the show.
We'll tennis ball.
Yeah.
You know, I think if anything, the only time my hair has ever changed colors is swimming
in the pool too much.
Yeah.
We're kind of gets a little greenish.
Yeah, that chlorine.
Yeah.
Just saltwater pools.
Yes.
Yeah.
So, that's been talking bleach hair.
We are here, I guess, ostensibly to preview the players championship and one that is,
we're both excited for coming off an amazing week at Bay Hill.
What a great finish out there.
And this is my first time ever at the players championships, so I took a little stroll around
today.
Yeah.
What do you think?
I'll tell you what.
So, I just did the 16, 17, 18 loop and eight low is just, you know, when we talk about
a pure golf course, we say that a lot, we'd probably overuse that term, like that term
was meant for this golf course.
I mean, there's not a blade of grass.
I'm telling you, there's so much like a gust of no experience walking around property,
not a thing out of place, you know, an incredible drive in the clubhouse.
You just feel like you're entering just this golf mecca, right?
Yes.
And you get out there and everything's just green and you see the best players in the
world out there on a perfect day, by the way, just 10 out of 10 ocean cool breeze today.
And come on.
It's fantastic.
I mean, that's why, you know, people, they're having the major conversation.
We've had a couple of weeks running up and, you know, figuring out what the identity of
this is.
But again, like, I go back to where, you know, the discussion we had a couple weeks,
so which is, this is just like a one of one, like it is, it is a completely unique to
those other events.
It's four, one and five.
Are we going to do this?
March is major.
March is major.
March is major.
They, uh, are we going to do this?
I, I, I said, I sat in the press conference today, uh, JT, I've got reports, quick reports
from JT, column war, Kawa and, uh, Tommy Fleetwood and JT had a great line on the major
thing.
It was like, uh, did you see the, um, did you see the marches major campaign and he
said, yeah.
I said, what do you think about it?
I probably would everyone else in your thinks about it.
Just that was it.
Do you think else you want to say?
I don't know.
Like I'm good on that.
I, I do want to put, well put, it was, it was well put.
I, I do want to ask about the course congestions themselves because JT was asked about, you
know, how does this course play and March relative to May and how does the overseas impact
things and you see, you get a lot more mud balls.
It's softer.
It's probably a little bit easier.
There are some challenging aspects of cold, nasty North winds and March that, you know,
can make this tournament difficult right now.
Yeah.
I got a weather report for you too.
Hold it out the, all the PGA tour media website, but I'll say this like, okay, so we just
talked about how pure it was out there and it is very pure.
It looks amazing.
Like I, I'm dying to play this golf course with the, with the, what the shape is in
out there.
But we're coming off a week where there's something so entertaining about just crispy,
Florida, Bermuda, push to its limits.
You know, I'm a Bermuda sicko.
Like I love the service, my favorite thing to put on.
I think there's something about that where you just, you just wonder, I mean, how much,
I feel like in Florida, Bermuda should work all time to be here.
I understand why they're kind of doing in the shoulder season, but whether it's March,
whether it's May, I'd love to see this place full on Bermuda, no, no overseas because
of where we're coming from with our polymer invitationally and just the total insanity
of that finish and much of that was due to those conditions.
Yeah.
What I hate is if you do get mudballs, if mudballs are a factor this week and then throw
in gusty north winds, that is a, that is a tough, tough condition where give me a nice
south breeze with some firm conditions and some Bermuda rough, also very, very challenging
and its own right, a much different challenge when you're hitting a lot more shorter irons
off, or shorter clubs off tee boxes, but a lot of these holes are dog legs.
So you're dealing with, having to really play aggressively off the tee to one side of
the fairway to keep it in that side of the fairway, if you don't shape a shot, if you're
somebody that's hitting a draw into a hole that goes left or right, you're playing to
a quarter of the fairway back in May.
Now when it's softer, the percentages get a little bit wider.
So fairways play a little bit wider, rough, I mean, there is rough, you know, when we
talk about probably from six iron up, you're, you're going to be, you know, having to
deal with like, can I, can I get it there, but everything will come out more dead out
of that rough versus, you know, there's some, there's some spots like left to four, always
going to be a problem with some heavier rough, that they, they're smart about where it
kind of gets high, where, where they kind of keep it a little bit more playable, but the
challenge of TPC saw grass will always be difficult, right?
It's from an execution standpoint and being able to hit the shots, I think it's much
easier to hit the shots when it's in May, but when you start throwing in some crosswinds,
some gusty winds, and you get out of position at this place and from base on what I could
tell just being at the golf course today, the greens are having a little bit more of a
crispiness look to it.
They're a little bit more brown and the rough is up.
So when we're talking about what to expect this, this week, maybe it's been told through
the media, it's like, hey, we, we don't want the soft players championship, like we want
to still see firmness out of these greens.
We want to see some thick rough and guys being punished for hitting poor shots.
And I think good architecture takes care of that one.
But then when you can nail it from an agronomy standpoint, well, if we can't get Bermuda,
well, what's, what's try to execute overseas at the best level we can?
And it seems with some rain in the forecast, there might be pushing it more earlier in
the week, based on what they're seeing, which I think is smart.
Yeah.
I mean, for me, just again, quick observations are being out here for a limited amount
of time.
But I just love like the, the, the shot value that's required for like the approach into
nine, the approach into 16, going up and looking at the 16, the green complex and just the
different tiers around that green, how precise you have to be, you know, going for that
in two.
And even standing at 17 watching map, it's Patrick practice putting out there, looking
at the way that grain changes where you're like, yeah, it's so cool to see like, you
know, the way in which, you know, different ball, like, you know, he's putting from the
back left corner of the green to the front.
And just when it clears that ridge and starts taking the grain, just picking up speed down
the front of that, that green, it's just you can see why that is such a daunting test
when you're, whether you're standing back on the tee, you know, trying to aim at a certain
pin to playing where the, the whole location is, or when you're up there trying to put
and, you know, being defensive with the two putt or trying to make a birdie for the hunt.
Like, I, I just think that this course was built as a stadium course in the sense that
it's, you know, supposed to accommodate fans and be this big.
But it's also a stadium course in that it, it's got these great sort of opportunities
for swings in the competition and excitement and producing finishes like we saw last year
where we met, Roy and JJ Sponk, coming down to a playoff excitement on 17.
So that part of it, you know, no matter when it's going to be played, you're going to have
that because of the way the golf course was set up by, by Pete and Alice Thigh, when
they designed this thing.
Yeah.
And two, the golf course, when you think about it in shaping the golf ball, a lot of trouble
is on the left side.
Now, not to say that's the case for the entire golf course because they're shots like
the 50 that they, if you spray one right, you can hit in the water.
But I think the most difficult shots are the T shot at 18, the T shot at the 7th
hole.
Like those are the two most challenging T shots that keeps pros up and night.
So you're kind of looking at players this week that, that can eliminate left.
You've seen faders went out here when you think of like Martin Kimer.
He won here, right?
Yeah.
Yeah, I was just double checking my head.
I was like, he won, right?
It's been a while, but going back to like my childhood days, it feels like.
But I think faders can be really successful out here.
You know, the only time you really have to turn the ball over right to left is the T shot
at two.
And if you go stand on that T, you're like, yeah, I can't hit anything other than something
that goes right to left of bang that tree right in front of me.
But you, you can hit a lot of fades around this golf course.
And you know, 16, it's nice to be able to turn one right to left.
But now with how guys hit it, they just hit fades over the corner and they aim at
the trees and they just fade it right on the edge of it because you don't have to worry
about a tree right on the, on the deal here.
But watch Colmwork how I do that today.
Yeah, I think that, you know, if Colin can, you know, turn one over to the way he's
driving the golf ball, you know, it'd be interesting to kind of get into a trend
meter with players looking at who's, who's performing the best and form wise coming
into this place because there's a good list of players that I think could easily
win here this week, base off of how, how they've been playing in the lead up.
It was so interesting.
Colin was in the press conference today being asked about, is this a, a faders golf
course? And he says, you know, I think to, there are some, that doesn't, that doesn't
always hold true necessarily for certain T shots.
And he said the same thing said about Augusta National.
And he's like, er, er, let me think about that.
No, Augusta National would be the other way to sort of a, a, a drawers golf course.
But that he stands up on that T shot on one and Augusta National that should
favor a fade.
And he's like, I don't think I've hit the fairer there ever.
Like I just can't get a comfortable T shot.
It's like Daniel Burger 18 Bay.
Oh, should fit that bullet cut better than any shot, right, visually that he's probably
ever seen.
It's just a blind T shot.
Sometimes can be tricky.
Uh, it's just, it's interesting to hear you guys talk about the mental side of that.
And just like, you know, the way it should fit doesn't always necessarily hold true for
every single player.
Uh, I want to read some weather forecast stuff.
So you kind of noted it here.
And what we got so far is strong cold front, uh, it's, it's going to push across Northern
Florida on Thursday with rain and thunderstorms likely, uh, cooler temperatures forecast behind
the front as winds flip to the Northeast on Friday and Saturday, but scattered thunderstorms
are possible on Sunday.
So you're talking about that wind direction.
So Thursday, 70, 70% chance of rain, they're forecasting a half an inch, high of 76 low
61 in its southwest winds on Thursday, 10 to 60 miles an hour, 22 mile per August.
I think that just hearing that I would probably want to be in the early wave Thursday, early
waves.
Because it's afternoon thunderstorms.
And I'm pretty, I think I remember this that the last however many champions of this
event have been in the early waves early late, it was something stupid.
I've never seen it last year was like 14 and last 15 winners like from the early wave.
And this week looking at that forecast, you potentially have to deal with the end of
the front that's coming through, but you don't have to deal with the North winds.
Like if you, if it gets rain out Thursday afternoon, those guys are going to have to come
out Friday morning and a strong, strong North wind.
This could be a really, really tough draw.
And so any end in Friday and Saturday, you'll have Northeast winds, um, slight chance of
rain on Friday, but, but looks like none at all on Saturday and temperatures just about
the same mid 70s to, to high 50s is your, is your high low range is going to do the
difficult day.
Because it's going to be the mud balls you're talking about, especially with strong gusty
North winds, North winds is, it's, I think, pretty sure it's in off the left at 17.
Uh, so, oh my gosh, that is not going to be the happiest of happy hours from out there
Friday.
Sad hour.
I, you know, I think it, it's so interesting too on, on just the, the, the, the weather
piece where it was, there was a great, I, I was laughing so hard.
Someone asked JT, I think the first question I was press conference was, um, JT, how many
weather apps do you have on your phone?
And he goes.
Or, or, or, what, you know, it was two, I think you have two.
Okay.
So maybe, actually, maybe the question was, how do you go about getting your weather forecast?
It's like, well, I'll tell you, pulls his phone up, he said, I got six weather apps on
this phone.
And, and the part about it, I loved was that, you know, everyone's got the, they got
the negative forecast guy and they got the positive forecast guy in their group at home.
Like, they knew who did text if they didn't want to try to talk people into playing or
talk people out of playing.
And he said, the one I love the most is, is weather bug.
So, weather bugs might optimize to go out, like, you look at weather bug, weather bugs
as they go all the time.
Yeah.
He's so weird.
So I was like, I download a weather bug.
I'm like, great.
I'm going to start using this for the boys at home.
Um, that was, that was a funny little press conference nugget.
I also loved, um, you know, Colin was asked about, uh, you know, just when he's talked
about in the past last year, coming off of Bay Hill, the tough lost Russell Henley
and not wanting to talk to media when he's playing bad.
And they said, well, Colin, what do you, what do you like when, when you're playing
well?
He's like, well, I was out there tinkering in today.
Uh, it is just trying to mess himself again, help himself love that about him.
And then, uh, I thought it was funny to Tommy once again showed up in a, uh, a, a hat
of the terminus playing in, but he said his son is a big hat connoisseur.
And so he, normally he gets on size.
This is where we're solving mysteries this week of, you know, do you go in the shop?
Do you buy all these hats?
And well, usually they're, they're gifted to me, but I actually flew over with this
one.
My, my son likes collecting hats and he pulled this one for me specifically.
So, uh, some good nuggets.
Some good nuggets from the guys today in the press conference.
Uh, so with that smiley, shall we delve into a little bit of, uh, players history, maybe
a little course history here to kind of set up some discussion.
All right.
So here's what I got for you.
So TBC saw guys opened up in the fall of 1980, as mentioned, a Pete and Alice died
as a first host of the players championship in 1982.
And the player feedback was not great.
Uh, the, the, my favorite quotes from, from, uh, the, all the competitors that week, Ben
Crenshaw said, it's Star Wars golf designed by Darth Vader.
Um, Jack, Jack Nichols was asked if a TBC sawgrass suit is playing style and he said, no, I've
never been very good at stopping a five iron on the hood of a car.
Uh, and JC's, he called the course 90% horse manure and 10% luck.
Uh, but the following year Pete, that goes back out there, tweaks the course.
He makes the greens less severe, replaces several bunkers and, uh, Ben Crenshaw followed
up on his initial critique and said, now it's a darn good golf course.
So there was some sort of softening of the original design in 2007.
I got a renovation where they, they added some irrigation, uh, to the fairways.
They put sub air in the greens.
So it could, you know, perform a little bit better when you have these wet conditions,
although still overseeding mud balls still an issue, no matter what season it's in.
Uh, and since the players returned back to March, because it went from March to May
back to March in 2019, your winners have been Rory McElroy in 2019, 2020 was canceled
because of COVID-19, 2021 Justin Thomas, 2022 Cameron Smith, 23 and 24, both Scottie
Sheffler and now Rory McElroy, defense here, uh, this year after winning in 2025.
Big names, man.
So to, I mean, Scotty and Rory both winning twice, you know, I kind of want to set that
up for a delve into discussion about each, but, you know, feels like it, it does require
that type of player to get this thing one.
I don't, I disagree with that.
I think history before that when you go to this event, man,
you've had all types of winners win here, you know what I mean?
Like, you've had players that unsuspecting coming into the week, you know,
uh, actually Craig Perk's one back here, uh, uh, Gomez, was that the one, uh,
Robert Gamas or, uh, no, when him, it was, uh, who was the guy that was in that playoff
with Sergio?
I'm gonna look that up.
Yeah.
Uh, but I'm sitting here looking at him, but there's, there's been a lot of David, David
and Goliath stories here.
You're having.
I think could happen again.
I really do, especially with a weather forecast like this, I think this benefits somebody
with a good draw that it gets hot plays well on Thursday and then just kind of hangs
around and hangs around and, uh, yeah, what do you got for me?
Yeah.
Well, you mentioned Martin Conmer.
He won back in 2014.
Obviously he's a big name, but you know, you have, you know, you're going down here.
If you're looking for, you know, Stephen Ames won here, um, going Craig Perk says you
mentioned, um, so I'm trying to pick some of the ones that are lesser known, perhaps
Jody Mudd, uh, Mark McCumber, um, you know, you can go down and it is a mix and it's interesting
because I think that is one of the things that people will say is there's not necessarily
a player profile or have to laugh sometimes when there are these analysis shows and it's
like, you have to be really good all the way to green.
It's like, well, yeah, that'll probably win you most golf tournaments, you know, if you're
a good tea degree, uh, and then I, I think, um, oh, we got, we got someone here almost
walked down to our show.
It's okay.
We'll keep it on rolling.
He wanted to hear my tech, but he really was, he really was curious for some advice
and the one I've done.
But I, I'd say to you that, that if you can't develop a player profile, then you almost
go to some things like you're talking about where, are we just looking at a, uh, a draw?
Are we looking at like an early, late draw and just pulling guys from that pool who are
in good form?
Yes.
That's probably the way I'm going to go with one and done this week.
But this is always such a unique leaderboard.
It really is.
Like you have all of these stars in the past, they've gone one, two, three in the world rankings
with T times.
Yeah.
Uh, to put them all in one group, which I think is a distraction and I think takes away
from like what they want on Sunday, which is you want the one, two and three on Sunday
playing together.
Uh, so, uh, this year, they're not doing it.
I think it's very smart.
But typically, you know, you're looking at the leaderboard at the players championship
and it could be, you know, Sunday or Saturday and you're looking at the board and you're
like, well, this is a different leaderboard.
Yeah.
You know, like, especially because this is not a signature event.
You got some players who, uh, for instance, like, uh, David Ford is first alternate.
Yeah.
So there's a lot of guys who would not be getting into signature events that are, uh, are
here competing and playing and have a chance to, uh, to, uh, to get into, into contention
and there's some good, some guys that are, I've played well this year that, uh, like
Ricky Castillo, for example, or players hot right now, kind of riding a lot of momentum
before the guy, I think their storylines here this week that develop, uh, with guys that
have played good golf, this, this golf course doesn't reward any certain type of player
like you talked about, but, uh, what it does require is, is execution and, and proper strategy
and commitment because you have to play fearless out here.
It's, it's visually intimidating and, uh, just, just that finish, 16, 17 and 18 come
Sunday, uh, even if you're somebody who is out in front and have a chance to win and
post, you have to play, you know, some of your most fearless golf down that stretch to
be able to do it.
Yeah, that, and that last C shot on 18 with that water, I mean, just there's really, there's
no, yeah, you got to step up there and hit a shot when they get the thing done, especially
you got to make a part of one thing, it's, you bail out too far right and you're struggling
over there on the trees.

I know we are talking about it can be a David and Goliath story we've seen that play out,
but let's do kind of talk about the two guys that are the favorites in the tournament,
Scotty, Sheffler, and McElroy, as they've won two each since that shift back to March.
And so this is Scotty's six career players appearance and he's in each of his wins in
23 and 24.
He led the field in Stroke's Game T-Degrean since 2004, 17 of the 21 players champions
finished inside the top 10 in Stroke's Game T-Degrean, which is, you know, again, probably
pretty obvious that it's not a shocker, but that has been a recipe for success.
So I just want to look at just a breakdown of his stats.
So in 23, he's first T-Degrean, he's five off the tee, four in approach, four in around
the green, and 48th in putting, and then 24, it's a very similar formula.
First in T-Degrean, first off the tee, seventh in approach, sixth around the green, and 37th
in putting.
I can see how he's going to play well this time.
And if you look at just like that, you know, instead of the race, like the actual raw,
you know, the data, the way he's playing right now in current form, it's comparable off
the tee and around the green, and the putty's actually slightly better.
The thing that I think we've talked about being a little worried about is just the approach
is iron play that's, you know, been his sort of go-to thing throughout this run of excellence
is the one that's slightly off right now.
And I just wonder, will we see this week?
He's 80th right now in the current season.
Interesting.
Yeah, it's something that he's going to have to get sorted out.
It's just a little off right now, but hey, when it comes to Scottie Schaffer, I think
the greens this week just having a little bit more grass on him will help him.
You know, he's gone from putting very, very well at AMX on perfect bank greens and had
moments putting well on Poana that makes you feel confident about his putting moving forward.
It's obviously been a huge improvement.
And when he got over to East Coast and played Bay Hill, it's like, okay, we're excited
for him to get back to Permuda, but that wasn't Permuda.
That was putting on on your parking lot with no bumps.
You know, it was just, it was that quick.
Never really felt comfortable on those greens from what I could tell.
Obviously, super frustrated with it, but there's been enough good golf for me to see that
Scottie Schaffer can put 72 holes together this week.
I think it's going to come down a little bit more to his mental side of the game.
I think he's been overly dramatic at times, which he's just been frustrated.
So I think a week like this, you know, when you could at mud balls, you could get some
gusty winds.
I think just kind of real and back in.
It's like I've won here multiple times.
I've done it coming from behind.
I've done it, you know, being on top the whole day, just reminding himself that, hey,
just stay in it.
Just keep giving out, give yourself a chance going into the back nine.
And I think that that's going to have to be his goal.
Yeah.
And I think the thing that the curiosity that I have just from a fan perspective is,
you know, is there in the same way that he's talking about, hey, I'm not really worried
about my first round scoring average because I had led in every round last year on tour.
You know, that do we get is this is the iron play, just a blip in the radar.
It's just something that's, that's, you know, hey, a little off happens to everybody.
And I should get right back to where I need to be and have been when I've won this tournament
twice in, you know, the last three years.
Or is it something where there is something mechanical or technical going on there?
I know we talked about this earlier in the year with Ludwig Ober, where, you know,
you're trying to figure out if it's a swing thing if somebody's be corrected.
And then maybe it's just a slight equipment tweak that you just get that little small thing
right.
And then boom, there he is, you know, in contention at Bay Hill and everything's fine again.
It's, it's trying to figure out what that piece is.
And y'all know if you've seen anything specific there, I'm just going to look at it just some,
some advanced data with Scotty, like he's 117 from 125 to 150.
Wow.
To me, he's always like 125 to 150.
I think that's his like sweet spot or only 125 to 175.
I can look at that statistic too, but he's, you know, fairly, you know, pretty far down.
It's like he's, you're going to have to hit what like pitching wedges nine irons, eight irons,
really well this week.
So that's obviously a concerning stats.
Let me look at 150 to 175 to actually that's, that's on that's green percentage.
I want to see strokes gained.
I don't like green.
All right, keep going.
Let me look at this thing.
Well, yeah, I mean, and just to continue on Scotty, before we move over to Rory, I mean,
I think that it's, you know, the iconic highlight on, I think it was four years ago.
He holds out from the fairway with a wedge in hand and that sort of kick starts that
comeback.
I mean, it's, it's wondering, it's not that I wonder whether or not he can do it.
I know he can do it.
It's just that in his current form, and he said he left the weather, he was just kind
of giving a passing comment to a reporter on the way out at Bay Hill, or whether you
really believed it.
He said there was enough he saw on Sunday to make him feel confident about what he was
bringing him this week.
So, you know, just time will tell as to what that actually holds.
And overall ball striking still says he's fifth.
So it's pump breaks here, but we are knee jerking a little too quick.
Well, let's talk Rory then because in his most recent victory last year, he finished fifth
in the Strokes game approach that he is the 10th players champion in the past in the
last 12 years to finish inside the top 10 in the Strokes game approach to the green.
You know, as you mentioned, it's a lot of that 125 to 175, like in that sort of category
you're playing well there, you're likely going to have a good chance in this tournament.
In 2019, when he won this event the first year back in March, he was first TD green, he
was second off the tee, he was sixth in the approach, 29th around the green and 47th in
putting.
And then in 2025, 8th TD green, 16th off the tee, fifth in approach, 50th around the green,
but 10th in putting.
So a little bit better putting this last year.
Now, we saw something come across the water today that he's still a little bit bothered
by that back.
He's not arriving here on site until Wednesday.
So and if you've been following the sort of the tournament favorites in the odds there,
his line was moving a little bit as a result of that.
I still think he plays.
Oh, I do think he plays.
I'd be stunned if he didn't play.
I just felt like it was going to be a pretty quick turnaround.
Just the fact that he was like, I could have played, you know, but I just wanted to be safe
with everything coming up.
But to see that he still needs a rehab and he's not quite ready to swing, I think anybody
can relate to that with back pain.
And sometimes you're more sore two days later.
That's probably where he's at now after getting some treatment.
I think it'll start feeling a little bit better.
I think faxing on the year, he said, it's an anti-inflams is what he called him.
Inflams, like he was like slank for inflammatory, so I laughed so hard when he said it.
Yes, but Rory, great, great history here.
You just want to see him at full strength though, you know, that's I think the goal for
Rory is just to get healthy when he shows up.
He's nothing changes about this golf course over the many years that he's been around
here.
I don't, you worry a little bit that he wasn't around here playing practice rounds, it
feels fully prepped, but I think when he gets out there, he'll be able to shake the
roster.
Yeah, I mean, is there, this is a course they show up to play every single year, right?
So you don't do as much course prep, you know, here, I mean, maybe it's just green
firmness.
Things like you're talking about, like maybe they're a little bit crisp.
It's easier.
It should be fine.
It's just most likely it's like, can you get pucks the whole after your last week?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, that's that's a good point.
But let's see, let's think about this.
He withdrew Friday.
He didn't even play with the draw.
They're either right Friday or Saturday.
I'm he withdrew on Saturday, okay, so we did play two rounds out there.
So those are our two favorites this week.
Now let's do kind of go down the board here and look and look at some other guys that
the people like this week.
The third, third short of sides, we've talked a little bit about Cole Moore, Kyle while
he's about 21 right now.

Do you, you're going to be like a knowing look here, do you love see with this week?
Tundra is the rest of the show.
So I just came across my desk with see where I feel pretty good about him this week.
You feel pretty good about him.
The thing in looking at his profile and data golf industry is you're at large, it's
all very, very good, but he has played a lot.
Like do you worry at all that he played the entire month of February, any running out
of gas problems for see where you just think he keeps it going?
We're running it back 2016.
Wow.
Ten years.
That's a bullet.
That's a, that's a, that's a journey mean this year.
I like that.
The 2016.
Running back.
All right.
Love see you a lot.
Okay.
Great.
Some others on here just kind of run down the board a little bit.
Tommy Fleetwood is a 25 to one Russell, Henley, 27 to one, Ludwig at 28 to one.
That's a little tease for fleawoods an interesting one because like this is a golf horse that you
would think is kind of, kind of good and built for him.
You know, all the, the trickiness with when it comes to visual issues and Tommy's ability
to really drive it straight, being a precise iron player, very good putter and around the
greens.
Yeah.
Does everything well?
But when you look at the beginning of this year, he, if I saw this correctly, I can't
be right.
I guess.
Yeah.
Okay.
He's got a fourth and a seventh.
Okay.
Didn't play Bayhole.
Why is it not up?
What do you shoot a bail?
He didn't play good.
I don't think he'd not play well.
He didn't make any birdies on the last round.
Yeah.
I mean, I like Tommy this week, I really feel like this would be a nice week to get him
to be honest.
But the only thing that worries me is if the golf course gets soft.
Yeah.
You know, just off the tee, just kind of giving up a little bit of pop.
But yeah, I like Tommy this week, Ludwig, who are the other guys?
Well, I just kind of, you know, and we can just, I think at this point in time, set it
right now in the leader world, we should just launch right into where I want and done because
I think we're going to talk about guys we like instead of just kind of bopping through.
So it's my go first this week.
And this is, of course, you know, if you're watching this on a Wednesday or whenever
we're dropping, this is going to replace our usual Instagram lives.
We're here on site doing all sorts of things this week.
So we'll just take note of that because we get messages every single week like, where
are the pigs?
Like, we'll promise we'll get them to you.
We promise we'll get them to you.
So I'm going to start out.
My first suggestion is going to be another former champion on the subject of see who came.
Adam Scott going off at 61 and here's my thing is that we, a couple of weeks ago, we talked
about, we got done with the Genesis invitation, we're like, why in the world do we not suggest
Adam Scott ends up finishing fourth there at a course that he's played well at before.
It was always Adam Scott that week.
He was always asked, and I know that collectively, Adam has played better at rib than he has
here, but he isn't past champion here.
He's had a lot of looks here, finished 11th time for 11th last week at the API.
His bowl speeds up.
Oh, I didn't even tell you.
I asked him about that.
What do you say?
So he's got a little something.
I don't know if we can get this here on camera, but it's like, it's like, we're just
looking at your power package.
It's like, you said, kind of like loading this front left leg a little bit.
Let me just load that right into the camera.
He's like, really pushing, pushing off, yeah, pushing off a little bit more.
And he said, he thinks that's been a part of it.
He said, hey, I mean, it'll probably work for a while and then maybe I'll over cook
a field and I'll find something new.
But something about that, that pushing off the front leg is helping kind of up those
bowl speeds.
So I like Adam for a good finish this week.
I mean, a guy just to consider if you want a long odds guy or play for like a top 20,
but I like Adam this week a lot.
All right.
I'm going to give you a bit of a long shot, like that long shot, long, like this is half
quarter, like longer than 101 shot probably.
Okay.
I don't know.
You probably have to look that up yourself.
Just my this.
I do think you're going to see somebody that you're not expecting to be a part of the
story.
I'm out here.
I agree.
You know, somebody like a Tom Hogi, you know, somebody that's unexpected, it hits
it straight, a good iron player, I wish this player like statistically was a little better
with their irons heading in, but I like how accurate it is.
I like how good he puts it and he's had a good start to the year.
Okay.
Uh, three top 25's been in contention a couple of times.
Kevin Roy.
Oh, interesting.
Kevin Roy.
Three top 25's.
Which events?
Okay.
Let me give it to you.
Kevin Roy, everybody.
So when we're looking, I guess you do these lineups or whatever, sometimes you got to find
some folks.
That's right.
So you finish at Sony, he was in the last couple of groups, he shot 71 on the last day,
which killed him, but he finished 13th, Phoenix, he finished 13th.
And then it cognizant.
He finished T23.
I like that.
I like that.
I mean, every year it feels like, I mean, these are, it's a good finish, it's Kevin Roy,
but like, you know, men will lead Dueling with Scotty Shepherd here a couple years ago.
Obviously, you know, JD before he won the US Open last year here with Roy, like, I like
that a long time.
What I like to is that his Thursday scoring average is really good.
And every single guy I'm going to take is going to be in the early wave.
I'm not, I'm not going to take anybody in weight early.
I'm believing in that the forecast is going to be better early weight and, and the last
winners have come from early weight.
So I love it.
There you go.
I love it.
Uh, the next comment suggests is a paliures and another former champion, like a little
theme going here.
Um, Ricky Fowler going up a 40, you like my suggestion of him last week?
You got to give me a little credit without a doubt.
I mean, so he's finished top 20 and four or five starts this year.
Uh, he just tied for 9th at the API 2015 champion here.
Um, it was funny.
Actually, today in the press conference, uh, someone asked call and more, call what is
the last thing memories were, like, like, one of his, like, this standout memory here.
And he said, JJ Jaggerback making a whole one in the, the caddy thing last year.
He's like, other than that, I think it was Ricky winning here, um, and just watching
the way that kind of unfolded.
What Kevin always first off in the afternoon.
I thought it was like in the back half of the thing.
Oh my guys, I'm just guessing except for well, whatever.
Yeah.
He's out there.
If he was early away, he would have won.
He's guys.
That was tough break.
Yeah.
But I think I think Ricky is, you know, it's, it's been an interesting couple of years
for him where he played good and he sort of lost form, then he needed some sponsor exemptions
to kind of get back on the mix, but he did very well with those sponsor exemptions.
And he's playing great golf start the year.
This is, you know, obviously a place where he's had some success and he's coming off a
week where he played great.
I, I think Ricky could have a very solid week as we 100 percent.
I couldn't agree with you more.
Um, I'm actually going to pick somebody in the early wave this time.
Uh, okay.
That's my apologies that I did back to the strategy.
Uh, but I think a, a guy that took a lot of time off this fall who I think is had spurts
this year that have been pretty good, but hasn't been exactly just like firing all cylinders
quite yet.
But I've seen enough really good things that I think he's kind of trending the right way.
Gritty player, really straight driver of the ball, great iron player, especially if it
starts getting wet, being able to control the golf ball, really like Russell Hennway this
week.
Yeah.
I mean, this is, that's a guy that, you know, obviously played great in the floor of swing
last year, picked up a big win there, uh, that's, but haven't heard of telling a noise
from me at this year, really?
I mean, just, yeah, he kind of talked about it.
Uh, it was, I think a recent press conference.
I'm, it was actually Bay Hill, because he won there and so he had a press, a presser there.
Uh, said he'd taken some time off in the fall, just needed to get away from it.
Yeah.
Um, and he said this year, he's just kind of been rusty and just has kind of figured
out his game and he's gone, but he's feel like he's getting closer and closer.
I think last week was a great week, uh, considering that, you know, he was, he's, he's,
he's kind of like, just keeps kind of showing up like at the, you know, the, the bottom of
the, uh, the first page of the leaderboard and the second page, it just feels like he's,
you know, close to having a really good week.
Yeah.
Well, I'm going to take a little, a little segue off a rider cupper who, uh, we had huge
promise for this year, open up the year, maybe not necessarily bad, but just the finishes
that were up to his standard, the standard that we're kind of holding him to, but has played
a great last couple of weeks, came young at 32 to 1, T, T three last week, the API,
T seven Genesis, uh, he's driving it unbelievable.
I, I feel like, and he doesn't have a great history here, but I think, you know, we've
just seen a lot of progress in his game.
He came on on the show to talk about it, of course, of just the new golf ball and just
the things he's worked on.
You mentioned the sort of, um, this last week, the, the sort of the, the wedge piece of
like, you have a wedge in your hand, no certain yard just, you got to kind of get it
closer than he has went out, saw him on the range today.
He was, he got the, had the track man out.
He was getting all those wedge yard just dialed in, took some down line video in that case
we needed for, for, uh, to fall up on a big win this week, but came just feels like a
guy that rounding into form right now, um, Polar is obviously made a huge leap in the
past year or so in driving about as good as anyone on tour, uh, so I, I, I like Camelot
this week.
Makes blush.
Love that.
Uh, the marquee groups in the early or Scotty chef were Tommy Fleetwood, J T, um, but
I have my own another guy and I just want to double check some stats here to make sure I'm
not missing out on something here with this guy by the way, I was a three three a.m.
I might fall asleep on the show like I might actually be in the middle of giving me my
pick and just, you might show us, so Matt Fitzpatrick is going to be the, the suggestion
here.
I like that one a lot.
So Fitsy, uh, Miss the cut last year, but, uh, fifth in 2024, uh, he, he missed the cut
in 23, but in 22, Miss the cut, but oh, he had another good finish, 21, he finished
T night.
So he's got a couple top 10 here, uh, again, like you see so, like the course history of
this place, you see a lot of players, Miss the cut, yeah, that, yes, great years.
Like it's just like, all right, we'll get the notables that missed the cut and it's going
to be a long list of players who, uh, don't make the weekend.
It's just kind of the nature of this place could be the bad draw that you get.
Uh, it could be just, you know, one, one bad swing that they can kind of put you behind
the eight ball, but I think we, you can't forget about how good of golf Fitsy was playing
at the end of 20, 2025, uh, this year, it's been a little bit of kind of everything.
But when you look at his approach, man, his approach stats are really, uh, terrific.
And his weeks that he's played well here, uh, the, the statistic that pops is his
putting.
So give me good iron play and give me good putting, uh, I don't know, potentially mucky,
like I can't, it's kind of in the same vein of pick, I've picked three guys that are pretty
similar.
All guys that can control their golf all Kevin Roy, uh, Matt Fitzpatrick and I'm also, uh,
the one before that who was that, who'd I pick, Fitsy and Kevin Roy, who's the other guy
I had.
I, you can be staring like a home.
Who did you suggest, uh, Fitsy, gosh, Henry, there it is, Henry, we're, we're powering
the finish here.
Uh, yeah, Fitsy was getting it down out there on 17.
Do you drop in all sorts of cuffs?
Where were you there for a second?
I'm, I'm, I'm telling you, like, it'll be a miracle we make to the show.
I got to get in the espresso.
I need like, I need a little afogato.
That's funny.
A little ice cream espresso.
Yeah.
Fitsy could be the, I don't think we sing Sabrina Carpenter.
I've got to like this picks.
I'm fit.
I mean, these are, I, these are some Groot and Grinder.
I was going to say these are some deep cuts.
These are not like your, your garden variety, like, hey, let's just pick a big name type,
guys.
I like this.
I think that's what this, this golf, yeah, ball control, man.
It really is it, like I would love to suggest Marco Penge.
I would love to, but I just, I just worry about just, you know, the, the couple bad holes
that might happen.
Let me tell you, buddy, if, if he, if they had the Sunday whole location out there today,
he would have made an ace, just flushed what up there.
I just, some mashers as driver, like the advantage he's going to have is insane, but this,
this place is like, it's a squeeze your golf course, man.
Yeah.
But you can, you can, you can overpower it.
Like worries overpower this place, but it takes a great deal of confidence to do that.
My pick is, it's interesting you talk about, you know, guys that just from year to year,
you know, like a, like a great one year and you think, oh, they're going to be a form
pick and then they come in the next year and it's like, how'd that guy miss the cut?
And this guy lives in the area.
Everyone last year thought he was the trend pick.
He was the guy he was due, and he finished, he finished eighth and 24, he missed the cut
last year.
And you know, I know he've had some questions earlier in the year about, you know, poor
play early on missing the cut at farmers, which again was, he like, this golf course is
built for him.
He won the genesis invitation last year after he should have won the farmers, but it came
back after, you know, the fires in Los Angeles and he wins it, you know, it's a perfect
course for him and just didn't play well or in the year.
And so I think that, you know, the consistency of just kind of figuring out what it is that
needs to fix was, was has been, I'm not a concern is not the right word, but just kind
of need to see him play his way into some form.
But he's another guy that came on the show and talked about a little, little restlessness
off season.
They need to kind of play my way through some rust and now we're looking at the last
two weeks.
Tiber third, the API, if he makes a few more puts, maybe he wins that tournament, Tiber
20th, the genesis, I, this guy's got everything he needs, you know, T degree to win this tournament
and just kind of depends on how he puts a sweet guy thing.
So I am, I feel like this could be it.
I'm picking Ludwig this week, buddy.
I love it.
I think it's always a risk here at the players because you could, you could use Ludwig
and he can miss the cut and that's, that's the day now that I picked him, you probably
will.
That's the day.
That's the danger of this event.
I would, that would shock me.
Yeah.
From everything I saw with my eyeballs at Bay Hill last week, I like your pick.
Well done.
A lot of great suggestions.
Cam, you're a really good suggestion.
Your other two that I can't really remember were great suggestions at $1.
Yes.
I'm like, I'm like, you're trying to encourage me to finish like, just, you're just like
stay away, buddy.
You know what?
You're just trying to do great.
You're doing great.
You're doing great.
Did somebody get this guy some grape juice, man?
Oh, we mull away.
All right.
So you go on with this week.
Uh, see.
We're shaking.
Yeah.
Shake him.
Shake him.
Yeah.
It was not.
It was, it was.
Buddy, see what we, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, we can't, um, it, it, it all, it
always was.
Yeah.
I'm so glad that it, that it just happened to come onto my desk here because I was looking
at the tea times.
You sound like, like, uh, Leonardo DiCaprio, and we'll, I had, I had a piece of information
across my desk.
Exactly.
We have to act on it right now.
It's so, let me give you just some stats that, that gave me excited.
Uh, the putting.
Hey, it could be better.
It could be better.
Uh, he's 151st there.
That, that, that's, that's definitely room improvement that we can, we can just start
with.
Okay.
That definitely would be the issue if we have a problem this week.
But buddy, driving accuracy percentage, we're hitting more than 70, 70% of our fairways.
71%.
That's fourth.
I'm told that's good.
Fourth.
Fourth.
Approach the green.
Second.
Tea to green.
Second.
Off the tea.
20th.
It just, it's, it's a tea to green game out here, uh, with, with ball control.
Seawoo Kim.
To me when he swings the golf club, he swings it with rhythm, confidence, and then it just
seems like, okay, where are I headed right there?
Okay, got it.
Boom.
Um, there just, it just seems like it's going to be there every day.
I, I love the way he has started the season, my goodness.
He was the best player.
Uh, he was in that final group in AMX.
Yeah.
Didn't play great, um, on that Sunday with, with, he's got a chef for, he's played as good
as you can this season without winning.
When you say, like, yeah, he started there T11, T6, T2, T3, and then he, you know, kind of
ran out of steam.
45th, 34th, but then a 13th last week, we shot 71, three straight days in a 70.
Um, and so I just want to look at one last stat with Seawoo Kim, just on how he's played
at this course.
We know he won in 2016, but he has gone, uh, let's see, 2025, finished 38th, finished
six, uh, in 24, and he's got another top 10 in 21.
So clearly has, has had success on this golf course.
I love the way he's playing to start the year and the game just doesn't seem complicated
to him.
I wanted to use him probably somewhere like a Hilton head.
But to me, the players championship, I just want to, if I'm going to pick a player, I
want to pick the safest option with, with getting the ball, uh, into the right spots.
And so Seawoo Kim, he's been in, and two, he's won here.
So he knows what it feels like.
And then he also, uh, in all of this, you know, he's, he's probably in the most form
as any of any of the guys that show up here.
So he's got confidence.
He's won here.
Um, I think it's a good, good profile fit.
He, uh, I mean, I was looking at the, you know, just the odds first and thinking, man,
he is uncharacteristically high on that board, or at least the group of guys he's around.
He's well up there.
And then I went to data golf.
I mean, data golf is giving him the second best chance of anyone other than Scotty Sheffler
to win the gold tournament.
They love it.
They love this.
I know.
The brain is like law of averages.
How long can one man just continue this level of form, you know, without seeing some form
of dip and just having played a ton of golf?
But, you know, I, he's definitely, in terms of form and what wave is he, I thought he
was in the early.
Oh, here we go.
Please give him.
Okay, he's early.
He's early.
I thought I screwed it up again.
He's on the backside.
I don't want to see his pairing to see like what type of pairing he's got.
He's going to get.
Yeah.
He's going to get, you got, Ludwig, this is perfect.
And more cala.
This is perfect.
More cal.
You got to go watch him Thursday.
I will.
Thursday, more than a 40.
Is it a 40?
Yeah.
I will be with that group.
Yes, you will.
I will be with that group.
I'll be walking with that group.
You're every time see who makes a bug.
You're going to be like.
Yeah.
Good effort.
Good try.
Good effort.
Man.
Well, okay, we got to wrap the show up somehow before my brain short circuits.
I do.
I would like to know.
Do you have any like tees for us for happy hour and what happens if it rains because it's
not going to be Friday.
It's that.
Oh, that's right.
Yes, right.
Is it is it going to be there on 17 happy hour?
That's sick on a Friday with all the wind on with North wind.
I think it's be awesome.
I think it's going to be really fun to kind of talk about what type of shots these players
are going to play on the 17.
It's going to be crazy theater.
If you remember that player's championship back in I think 21 JT was in the terrible
wave and they came on to coverage that morning and every single group hit into the water.
It was just like.
Yes.
Oh, that's it.
That's all I got.
I want to ask you back.
Because he hit one of the things like start lapping is I think bros kept it as a
sweep.
I like Brooks.
Yeah.
I do.
Uh, which I guess wave.
Um, I think he's in the morning.
He is in the morning and he's playing with auction.
Uh, yeah, and Tony Fino.
Interesting.
Yeah.
Uh, I, I, I do think Brooks is going to have a good week.
I do.
Um, and he's got to be excited to be back here.
Yeah.
But that, that morning your referencing was, that was, that was one of my favorite days
of golf in like the past five years.
And I keep, I go back to that same shot that like 200 and it was like a 200 yard five
wood that JT hit where like sawed it down to like the steel and just fly to this thing
and I was like, that's art like that's craftsmanship and golf.
I didn't say.
There's nothing.
Oh, it was 69.
It was just so good.
Bowie free.
Yeah.
We were like, same.
One of the better rounds in his career.
Yeah.
So good.
Um, all right.
Okay.
So Friday, happy hour from 17th hole.
Last question is, what do you, what do you send the over under ad for the merchant?
I'm going to do tomorrow morning for my family.
I'll go on here.
Under what?
Under what?
Under what?
What do you normally do?
If I'm recreating a shot at 17, are you going water or no water for a shot?
Wow.
Okay.
Um, I mean, no, we're going to be probably playing it to the right bed.
If we do it like the Sunday shot, like, and you're going to do it on Sunday for or during
the week.
No, no, no, no.
This would be like either tomorrow Wednesday.
Okay.
My reminder last time I did a shot was with you.
So like, it'll be a two week span.
Oh, wow.
That's right.
Like your last full golf shot.
Other than that, the plug bunker shot, you hit it, uh, I think it, I think the right answer
is water ball.
I think, I mean, I don't know.
You were striping it, dude, but he like first shot, I mean, just kind of loosen up.
Do some stretching.
They're not going to let you hit any practice balls at all.
I don't think so.
Where am I going to hit him?
Like I'm on the TV.
And so Sunday pin, what club are you hitting, do you think, because of the wind, right?
Yeah.
I mean, I'm probably going to hit a pitching wedge.
It would be my guess.
Okay.
We probably like a one thirty eight, one forty shot.
Are you going to hit like, you could take more club and try to kind of hit something like
flat?
Like, you know, I mean, I'm going to be aiming a step right of it and try to hit a pole.
Try a little draw on there.
Like, no, a little fade.
Like a pole, pole, pole, pole, pole, pole, pole.
Well, how don't we pull down?
I'm going to try to get on top of it if I can.
Okay.
I like it.
We'll see.
I think going, no, I'm going, I'm going to believe that I can hit the shot.
Yeah.
I just, I mean, there's a lot of water right of that green.
And you know, I'm going at it.
Like, I'm not going to sit there and just like, play, say, you should just hit the
center of the green.
I'm so good.
Nobody wants to see me play.
I love that.
But weird, weird, weird.
No, that would be something.
I'm jumping into the water.
A million ACE.
You commit to that?
Yeah, I'm going to tell them I'm going to throw my stuff off.
I'm like, I'll just lick it down.
Is it, and then just jump from the water?
Do, do, do gators live in those waters?
Doesn't matter.
You're going to get, you're going to be a good way to go.
You get a way to go.
