Happy every day. This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad
0:29
in it. I pray that your heart is ready to receive what God has in store for you.
0:34
It's not about what I'm saying, it's about what God is tapping into you.
0:37
What is that? Lean in. Why the small stuff matters to God.

1:00
Have you ever thought why the small stuff matters to God? I mean, shouldn't just the big things
1:06
that shift your life, get all the attention? You know, it's easy to let your everyday get swallowed
1:12
up by the routines and distractions. You've got this, right? Work deadlines, household chores,
1:17
let's just talk about the laundry again, lots of dishes, and endless to-do lists that we often
1:22
overlook where our faith truly intersects with our everyday moments.
1:27
But you must remember, God cares deeply about the seemingly small, mundane parts of your day.
1:34
It's in these moments that your faith becomes real, not just a Sunday sediment, but a lived reality.
1:42
Consider Colossians 3 versus 23 and 24. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart,
1:50
as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance
1:55
from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
2:01
This scripture reminds us that no task is to trivial when done with a heart oriented toward God.
2:09
The dishes you wash, it can be a holy moment. The emails you send, most definitely.
2:16
The podcast episodes I record for you, yeah, what about the conversations you have with your
2:23
kiddos, with your spouse? They all hold spiritual significance when aligned with the desire to
2:30
honor God. You can have those holy moments all the time. But why is it that we kind of just put
2:36
those off to the side? Like, oh, it has to be Christmas, or it has to be some special big,
2:42
I don't know, maybe like even a wedding. We create these ideals in our head from our own doing
2:50
instead of looking to what God points us to. In fact, Jesus points us to the daily intersection.
2:57
Look at Luke 16 verse 10, whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with very much.
3:03
And whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.
3:08
Look at those little things of life, right? Faithfulness in the little things of life is the
3:15
foundational soil where spiritual growth happens. And when we overlook the mundane, we miss
3:21
opportunities to live out God's values, kindness, patience, integrity. Look at another one.
3:32
In Matthew 6 verse 33, but seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will
3:37
be given to you as well. Seeking God's kingdom isn't only about these major decisions in your life.
3:44
It's not about just buying a house or are we going to move or I'm going to take this other job.
3:49
Am I going to buy a new car like the big thing to grand gestures? It's also about putting him first
3:54
in how you handle your daily commitments, your mindset during your challenges when you're mad and
4:00
you want to just blast out your spouse with words after words after words, you know you've been
4:05
there, including attitude towards others. Why the small stuff matters to God because it does.
4:16
And if it matters to him, it should matter to us. What does it look like when faith and daily life
4:22
intersect? That means choosing gratitude over grumbling and traffic. Maybe you've been grumbling
4:29
too much with the weatherman or woman or whoever's giving us the forecast. More snow. Are you kidding me?
4:37
We are in the south and into snowing still as I'm recording this episode. Come on. I've had
4:42
conversations by the way with our Heavenly Father. I'm like, Lord, can you turn the temperature up?
4:46
This is why I move south not to be in the cold. I'm just saying, right? What about offering
4:52
compassion when stressed or praying quietly during a moment of overwhelm? When did you just hold
5:00
your tongue when it was easier to lash out? That's hard to do. It's living with the awareness
5:10
that your everyday actions echo far beyond your immediate circumstances. They resonate in God's
5:17
bigger story. It's not just about you. God's got the bigger story. That's why this small stuff
5:25
matters to God. So don't get trapped in the illusion that your faith is separate from your daily grind.
5:31
It's not. It's precisely where you are right now that God wants to meet you at. He wants you
5:40
here. Create your now with him. Walk with him in your everyday God's way. And when you stop
5:46
glossing over what fills mundane and instead invite God into those moments, your life reflects a
5:53
faith that's honest, a faith that's active, alive and deeply rooted. Have you ever had that thought
6:03
how you know you're just that Sunday Christian or you're just sitting a Sunday pew and that's what you
6:07
do, right? Go read Romans 12. Offer your whole self every day as a living sacrifice I'm paraphrasing,
6:15
by the way, holy and pleasing to God. Your daily life is your worship. It's where you say, God,
6:21
I trust you here. Now that doesn't mean that you're not supposed to take action. That doesn't mean
6:27
you just sit in the pew or you sit on the sidelines, right? No, it doesn't. When you walk by faith,
6:35
you have action. You don't just sit there and be like, okay, I'm waiting for the burning
6:42
bush. I'm waiting for the lightning to strike nope. But you have to be involved. You have to
6:49
understand that he wants to be with you, not just sitting in the Sunday pew or in that Sunday chair
6:56
that you have to be there all the time, that same place really. What would happen if you went and
7:00
set up three or four rows back or hundreds of seats back? Put him on how big your church is.
7:07
What if it would be different where you actually turn the church off on your tablet and actually
7:16
went to the building that you watched and met the people face to face? Let faith and life collide.
7:27
Let it happen in your nine to five, your family chaos, your quiet mornings. I feel like we need to
7:33
have Dolly Parton singing here right now, right? We're gonna have a let faith and life collide.
7:40
Come on. Stop sitting here pretending that God only shows up in a building that has a cross on it.
7:50
He does not. And we get it so backwards. We're looking to people for answers. When was the last time
8:00
you picked up your Bible? Actually, your Bible. Not the instrument of what you read it off of.
8:09
I know it's convenient. I enjoy traveling with less. I've been traveling a lot and will continue to
8:16
this year. I'm traveling every single week non-stop. On average seven and a half to eight hours a
8:26
week. I'm traveling right now every week for this entire year. Guess what? I'm not gonna complain.
8:34
I'm gonna figure out a way that maybe God can meet me in those quiet places when I'm on the road.
8:42
And yeah, when I am traveling, sometimes I don't want to have to carry the Bible. And so I do have
8:46
it only on my smartphone or my tablet or on my computer. But when I'm home and I can grab and hold
8:54
my Bible, grab it, hold it, know it, read it, learn it. Don't look for people that you put up on a
9:04
pulpit. Don't raise them higher than God's Word. I've told you many times before with me personally.
9:14
I don't want to be called pastor. I don't want to be called honestly teacher. Sometimes scares me too.
9:18
I'm not a theologian. I don't pretend to be any of those. I don't want to be any of those. I'm
9:25
someone here that comes to you, truly with a girl who has a heart for Jesus, who has her entire
9:34
life. I can't explain it. I'm not the perfect one where I can sit here and rattle off all of these
9:43
things. I mean, sometimes you hear me say the, you know, the references within the Bible. You
9:48
know what? If you were to ask me on the street, I'd say they're going, it just doesn't come to me
9:53
like that. But what comes to me is how I live it in my every day. I know the scriptures. I have
10:04
them written on my heart. But it's because I'm not hung up on who taught them to me. I'm hung up
10:15
on God's Word, God's love, God's sacrifice, Jesus sign on the cross from my sins and being
10:22
resurrected so that I may have eternal life and that the Holy Spirit resides within me. Amen.
10:29
And we tend to forget that, yeah, faith in life, they do collide. Working nine to five, right?
10:39
Why not let faith in life collide? Okay, I know I'm kind of stretching it here. It's all
10:44
apart. But maybe you'll remember it. Maybe it'll be something sticky for you. Because maybe this
10:52
has been your blind spot. You're trying to do it because your pastor says it or your Sunday school
10:57
teacher or your great good friend that you've done everything together in the church. That's
11:03
fabulous. There's nothing wrong with that. But don't put them ahead of your heavenly Father.
11:12
Not even your spouse. There are a lot of people out there that are deceitful.
11:20
You got to know what God is telling you. Get into the Word. Don't just trust me. Go and look
11:27
at these verses. Ask yourself, what does this mean to me? What am I supposed to do with this?
11:35
I know some people probably think I'm a little bit crazy at times because I talk about laundry
11:39
and Jesus all the same time, doing the dishes. I know I've shared the story before, but I feel
11:45
like I'm going to share it now anyway. I can remember I was, I don't know what I was working on.
11:51
It dealt with creation now. I was writing something. I was doing something. I had to take a break.
11:55
I wanted to go get some groceries before I went to go pick up the kids at school. This is when
12:01
they still need a mom to go pick them up. I think I had two at this time, thinking back at the time
12:07
in school of the five. I saw the two younger ones. I went to the grocery store and got a few
12:14
things. But as I started my shopping, I had, I mean, I was having conversations with God and
12:22
I was just going in. As I was standing in front of the lettuce, if you've ever been to some of
12:26
these grocery stores, they have all the lettuce and all the greens all nicely laid out,
12:32
kind of up. You can see everything right in front of you. You don't have to look down. You're
12:37
looking straight at them. I'm perusing this whole beautiful display of lettuces and all of this
12:44
and I'm like, Lord, what lettuce would you get today? What would you go with? What should I do?
12:50
What sounds good to you? Okay, little did I know that I was not talking in my head. I was talking
12:56
out loud. Oh, yes, I was. And there was a woman, only one other woman, but she was down by just a
13:04
couple arm links from me. So not very far. And she kind of turned and looked at me and she said
13:09
everything okay. I said, Oh, yeah, I just thought I'd ask for some guidance here on lettuce. I thought,
13:16
Oh, she probably thinks I'm some weird kooky girl. Why not take God grocery shopping? Why not?
13:27
He wants to be a part of your everyday, but for some reason, we put him in the box that says,
13:33
God, you only need to be here. And then we wonder why we have complaints later.
13:39
Now, I'm telling you right now, even though I go grocery shopping with him, I still have complaints.
13:44
We all will always have complaints, because we're on this side of heaven. I don't have to remind you
13:53
of that, but I think we all need to be reminded that faith and life need to collide. It's supposed to.
14:02
We're not supposed to put God in a box and get him out, right? He's not just this piece of jewelry
14:06
that we only wear him. Have you ever seen those beautiful tennis necklaces or tennis bracelet?
14:14
There's a lot of women who only wear them on, well, normally you see them on like holiday occasions
14:19
or red carpet events, something that's very, very fancy. Why not wear it every day?
14:25
I don't know. It's a good question. I can't say I have a real one that I would wear every day,
14:29
but I'm just asking that question. If you have it, why not wear it every day? God loves you. Why not
14:35
let him be with you every day? And not when you just think he needs to be. Don't you think he knows best?
14:44
Why the small stuff matters to God? Because you matter to God. And if you think about how many
14:51
people there are in this world, we truly are kind of the small stuff, aren't we?
14:57
But to him we're the big stuff.
15:01
So I guess really today, I wouldn't encourage you. I really want to remind you that this is the day
15:08
that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Snow, sleet, 50 degree weather,
15:17
negative one degree weather. Maybe you're in Hawaii and you've got 78 degree weather.
15:23
My grandson and I were looking at Hawaii in Honolulu and I was like, oh my goodness,
15:27
to be there right now, I should be. It would be great. I can't be. But it would be great.
15:32
The weather was gorgeous. I don't have rain for like another week or so. Now they'll have their
15:36
tropical morning rains, right? But this is the day. And every day you should wake up proclaiming
15:45
that and allowing God to walk with you in your everyday because let me tell you what really matters
15:53
is not how you define it. But more importantly, how God does. Go in peace. Be present.
16:01
Be incredible. Be you. I love you so very much. I cannot wait to see you on the other side.
16:07
Blessing's hugs and lots and lots of love. We'll talk to you real soon. Have a glorious blessed week.
