Nevada Chevrolet.com. Nevada Chevrolet.com. Check them out. They're a fantastic sponsor of the crew show. All right, we're off and running. Niners got the win in week one. Deeter and I were both in Santa Clara for some of the media sessions. We've had a chance to go in the locker room and talk to some of the players. And yeah, I actually think this is my favorite part of covering the 49ers

is going into the locker room and talking to the guys because they're regular down to earth guys. And if you want to talk football, they're going to they you're going to get a great conversation. 100% I had a great conversation today with Garrett Wallow. We'll probably put that out at some point. And you know, we just talked about his 11 tackle game in Philly. And how is the greatest game of his career? And it kind of opened the door to the Niners, deciding to bring him back to camp this summer. And still nothing was guaranteed. But now he's on the roster and talked about being a teammate of Dres and Denver last year. And how Dres talked up the Niners and you made him really curious about playing for the Niners. And then the Niners picked him up late in the year. And now he's there together on the Niners. So we talked about that. We talked about Fred. A lot of great stuff. And I looked over and there you are talking to Jake Brendel. And you got to and I'm not sure if you were taping it. You know, or if it was just like, I try. You know, I try to keep my the players know I asked to record, right? But I don't I don't put them on camera. I have found that when I have them on camera.

I'm not a Larry Krueger. I don't have that kind of energy. I find when I put them on camera, they're a little more cagey. Mainly because I'm mostly asking about kind of specific game plan stuff. And we're just kind of shooting the breeze. But we try to be a little more detailed in the conversation. You know, I'm going in there not to waste their time or the guys I know I talk to a lot. I try to get to know the new guys and the guys I haven't talked to. But I'm just trying to have something to wear. They are a little more open. And I have found out through my career as someone who used to have the camera all the time, right in their face. And you know, profitably, I find that they're way more interesting. And they say more interesting things. And they're a little less guarded when the camera's not in their face. So I just recorded on my phone with that basketball hoop right next to his locker. It is a bitch to transcribe. Yeah. But yeah, I love talking offensive lineman offensive lineman. Don't have enough time to bullshit you. Which is just a beautiful thing in this world where everybody's got an angle and everyone's looking for something offensive lineman will tell you straight.

And a great game to talk to Jake Brendel because he was coming off a great game himself. We've had a lot of conversations throughout his career about, you know, being somebody who gets some fan gruff to be putting it mildly from time to time and just where he's at. Coming into this season and what's going on with Connor Colby and what he thinks this offense can be. You know, Brock Purti only place you can really get him. Brock's really, you know, down to earth easy to talk to guy. But Niners media is all, you know, media relations all over. Anytime you want to talk to Brock about anything, they're on you like a fly on crap. But if you think about the offense, okay, yeah, Brock is going to know everything about the offense. He's the quarterback. Back up quarterback knows everything about the offense. Mac Jones doesn't really hang out in the locker room when we're around fair play. But the next guy on the list is gotta be your center. He's the one who's set in the protections for the offensive line. He's the one who's handling the run game meetings. He's the one who obviously understands the importance of past protection in the past game and

all these things like the center has to be, you know, for lack of a better term, the quarterback of the offensive line. They're probably the, you know, vice president of players when it comes to having an understanding of what's going on in the offense. So I've always really valued my time talking to Brendel and all the offensive line and to be fair. It's a great offensive line room and love hitting it with Trent. I get along great with Trent. I don't know if he'd agree, but I think we do. And yeah, it was a really good combo with Brendel. Yeah, I mean, I agree. I think the offensive line, I mean, it's hard to say, you know, because teams change and every team's a little different, but the offensive line, I mean, I'm doing a podcast right now with Boone. He was like my go-to interview guy in the locker room during the Harbour years. Because the best thing is in a room full of 53 guys, there's going to be a guy who, as you say, too impatient to not tell the truth and also kind of just kind of candid in that Alex in smart. The offensive line, they're smart. So then it's a matter of, they're all smart.

So it's always a matter of, are they candid? And when they're candid and they're smart, now you're really getting something. And I like talking to Drake Nugent. I like talking to, you know, definitely enough talking to Trent. Colton McKibvitz is always my favorite. You and I were having a great conversation with Carver Willis the other day. Yeah, we were talking at Carver 4th to each other about the big 12 back in the day. He was reminding me how old I am, but that's neither here nor there. I mean, he's a great young guy. And you know, you know, it's like Kevin's like 25 and it's like, you know, these guys are basically Kev's agents. Like I'm talking to my kid. And they're good kids. I mean, and I call them kids, but I mean, they're good guys. Yeah, that's the married millionaires in a lot of cases. I mean, they're, they're, but a lot of times they are kids kind of like, they're kind of like, you know, I live by myself and just me and my girlfriend, but you know, I don't, you know, but it's interesting. And the lot of, and their football players are pretty candid. So let's go back to star conversation there. The Niners got a 20 point win over the Rams. And the Rams came out and played 425,

nickel, the entire first half and into the third quarter until the 490 is kind of forced them back into their 5 to. So that's kind of what happened as far as, I don't know, I mean, that was Schoole's plan. And he didn't really adapt to anything. He just was like, I'm going to run my 4 to nickel. In that 4 to nickel, it kind of makes it. So some of those were wide nine looks and it makes it so that they really needed their, their defensive tackles to make a lot of plays. And instead, you know, the Kobe Turner's the Poon of Fords. They were, they were beaten at the, at the point by Poonie and Brendel and Colby. Colby was especially good on your combo blocks. I went back and looked at the, at the all 22. I thought Kobe was really almost spectacular on the combo blocks. They won every time they want literally every time he comboed with somebody they won. And, and so the, the 9 or interior one over the Rams interior didn't expect to see that or

talk about that. And that's what happened or that's one of the things that led to the 9 or victory. But let's start the conversation there because how did the 49er, you know, much maligned interior offensive line. And when I say much maligned, they deserved it. They deserved it. They, they absolutely got worked by Seattle. In, at Lumen, in the playoffs, I mean, they get by our Murphy Leonard Williams. They did what they wanted to do. Yeah. How did they improve? Where did they improve? Because clearly, it's one game. Yeah. But for one game, you know, and when I talked to Greg Cosell, he's like the interior offensive line for the 9ers really had a decisive win. And then when I mentioned it to Kyle Shanahan, Kyle, what do you think about the interior of your offensive line? Because I just talked to Greg and he was so loud by that. So I said, Kyle, what did you think? I'm going to be a little bit more. Knowing that he's the coach and he'd be, and he was like, they were unbelievable, especially in past pro. And then today when Kubiak was asked about it,

Dieter, he's like, you know what? We were really physical. We sustained our blocks. So it was, it was a consistent theme. You watched the L-22. How did the 9ers interior three improve their play from last year in the playoffs to week one? Well, I thought it really did start with having a healthy brendle and a healthy puny. And if you have dominant puny healthy, he's one of the better guards in football. No one's ever really talked about him in that way. But the natural progression of his career, he just gets a little bit better every year. And I think that we saw this in training camp, because we have to remember last year, he injures his PCL on that kick in the Jake Moody game in the preseason in Vegas. And he had to fight through the entirety of the 2025 season, effectively playing on one leg. And he was able to do it to the point where if you weren't somebody who's down in the weeds with 49ers football and 49ers offensive line play, you wouldn't have known.

And he's on the injury report, but then he comes off of it because they're like, well, it's not getting any better, it's not getting any worse to take him off the injury report. He had to battle through all of it. And there's a lot of reps that you see last year, both in pass pro and in the run blocking game, where it's like he's a pirate and he's just hopping on a peg leg. I mean, he's got nothing, but he's such a scrapper. He's so good with his angles, he's so smart, he's so strong in his upper body that he was able to get away with it. Well, he's got his legs under him now. And you put all that together and you have a really special, really, really special guard player in Dominic Pune, who is going to get paid a tremendous amount of money when his contract is up if he continues on this realm. So you have that. You have Brendel who comes into this, it comes into this season with a pretty clean bill of health. And I've talked to Brendel a million times over the years. He's repeatedly said in a couple of these seasons that it takes him a while to kind of break down the scar tissue at the beginning of a campaign, and that it takes him a while to kind of, you know, get the joints lubricated and ready to go. But because he exited last season,

he only had a little hamstring thing late, but because he exited last season with something close to a clean bill of health, which is absurd for an offensive lineman, and might be something that not his fans might want to get them on. It's like, hey, maybe you should have injured yourself, more you would have played better. But because of that, he was able to get a full off season. And so he was able to hit the ground run in this year. And then they had a lot of guys in camp that could take theoretically take his job. So he was very candid about that with me. He's like, this is the last year of my contract. Kind of important for me to play well. It's like to me, he matters to me. I'm not that he wasn't using his arms before. But to me, it seems like he is more, he's playing angrier. He seems like he is in a, he seems like he's in a mad disposition. And it seems like at the end of his blocks now, he's finishing guys with one last real shove. There's an exclamation point to his blocks, at least in the first game. Yeah, that game.

And there is then, you know, in the back of my head, which immediately then comes to the front because it's me. And I'm a pessimist. It's like, dude, you know, Khrushula was unaware the game had started. Right? He's just, I don't want to read too far into these things because I'm not in Melbourne. I'm not there. But I do have a hard time not noticing when we're watching a game. And because we're watching on television, we have the ability to get those cuts to the direct shots of coaches' faces. Right? That's what they love to do. The director loves to show me this guy. Show me that guy. And every time they cut to Sean McVeigh, it looked like every mitochondria in his body is like, why is the sun up? He looked hung over. He looked just dazed. And is someone who flies to Scotland once or twice a year, especially in the summer when the sun never goes down and has to deal with that jet lag. And like, I know what that looks like. I know that face right there from Sean McVeigh. And I don't think Shula ever moved on the sideline.

The entire game is the defensive coordinator. He kept, every time they cut to him, he was standing in the exact same place with the exact same hang dog half-stair distance. Look in his face. These guys got on a plane the day before and thought that they could get away with it. And I'm the idiot for thinking, I don't know, they're pretty smart guys over there. They might have figured it out. Wrong, wrong. And when you're talking about playing at the most physical point of a football game, which is in the trenches, defensive line, when we saw the Niners leaning on him and leaning on him hard, especially in the second half in the beginning of the second half too, it's hard not to chalk some of this up to the Rams just weren't there to play and were probably physically incapable of playing at the level that they wanted. They probably also had a game plan where Miles Garrett is doing everything for him. Well, guess what, Miles Garrett ain't doing squat for him when he's on and certainly when he's off the field. So that shifts everything out. Now they just treated like a preseason game. They were very vanilla. They were very plain and they just played like they didn't want to be there. Now, all of that said coming back

to the Niners' offensive line, I totally agree with you on Bremdle and playing angrier. And we, you know, bemoan how they played against Seattle and weak A-teen and in the divisional round. Well, I can't imagine that those weren't some coaching points that were delivered after those games and throughout the offseason to the offensive line of, we can't just play the angles anymore. We have to be meaner, we have to mall. We might not be built to do it, but we gotta play that game a little bit more. And if we can up our game in the physicality department, well, we're already gonna have the angles, we're gonna have the foot speed, we're gonna have all the tactical advantages that we want. But if we can play a little stronger, a little meaner, a little tougher up front, a lot of things are gonna open up. And it starts, frankly, with Poonie. It starts with him because he was somebody who, when they drafted him, didn't really fit the classic Chris Verster guard mold and was more of a maller than he was a people mover and somebody who you want out on the run. But he is now a perfect blend of this kind of modern guard that we're looking for where they can anchor like a sunbitch

but also get out there and push some people on the second level every now and again. You're never gonna have a true maller in Bremdle, but if he's playing with the physicality that you alluded to and I saw as well, that is a very, very positive sign. It needs to continue, but it's a very positive sign. And then yeah, Connor Colby's, I just thought was in control, far more in this game, not universally, but far more in this game than I had ever seen from him, save for perhaps the first two quarters of the game he got thrown into against New Orleans in week two of last year. But from that point on, it was all downhill from Connor Colby and he was just looking more and more lost. You know, stunts were absolutely ruining them. They still kind of caught them a little bit in this one, but along the same lines as Bremdle kind of feel in the heat from up and under, they wanted to give Connor Colby this job. They penciled them in. They said, you're the starting guard at the start of camp and then they got into the couple days of pads and they're like, get the hell on the back of the line. We're going with somebody else

and they tried everybody else and no one else was able to take the job. They were trying Austin Pleasants and left Garden a preseason game even though he hadn't wrapped it because they were just looking for some sort of an answer and Colby, contrary to kind of what everything I've been saying about talking offensive lineman, didn't give me a lot when I talked to him about this, but he's a positive. Yeah, he's not, he's not a good interview. I mean, it's not good interview. It's fine. He doesn't want to be. He's a nice enough guy. He's nice. He's just, but he's not very verbal as far as, at least for the media. Maybe it's intentional, but I think they're playing a game there. I think, I don't know. I think they, I think either they believe that Colby needed, you know, a fire lid under his ass or they really didn't want him to be comfortable because think about the way this went. I didn't do my deep dive on him until after the end of all the entire preseason, after the cut down because I was like seeing so much criticism of Colby, I'm like, I gotta go watch these three preseason games. I'm just gonna take the time and go do the deep dive

and snap by snap. And what I found was that he played great in the preseason and I didn't have any problem with anything he really did in the preseason. I thought overall he wasn't lunging. He was a assignment sound from what I could tell. Combo blocks, individual blocks. He was absorbing punishment. He was climbing to the second level. I liked what I saw a lot. I mean, I was like, this guy's way better than people are saying. Yes. So I agree with that. But here's the way it played out. He was getting running with the ones. Matt Barrow's writes an article saying that the job is the competition's over and Colby's won it. Literally the next day, they yanked him from the lineup and went with Rob Jones. And then I asked Shanahan about it like three days after that. Hey, is it pretty much a two horse race now between Jones and Colby? And then they immediately put Carver Willis in there

and then went with Carver Willis and made it seem like it was a competition. And today when Barrow's asked the question to who, to who who. Kubiak, hey, when did you guys make the decision? He Philobust heard and gave a word solid and then never answered. Yeah, he didn't say when they decided. And I asked Kyle about it on Wednesday because I was under the impression from a conversation that I had had that they were planning on doing a rotation. And but that conversation happened before that they went to Australia. But like at the time they were leaving, I'm like, what's the deal with the left guard? And they're like, it might be a rotation. And he shot that down. He's like, never a rotation, which fair enough. Okay, fine. It's, you know, it's a week and a half out. Like, you know, you don't have to have solid plans by then you hadn't put in a game plan. No problem. That doesn't offend me. Glad I know. But then he said we felt a lot more comfortable with him once we started practicing with him in Australia. And again, he got demoted to third string at one point.

Then he's back up at second. Now he's back up at first. None of this is permanent, but he played well enough to where between him and Colton McKibits, it's hard to say who was the worst offensive lineman on a very good offensive line in that game. Neither of them played poorly at it by any stretch. That's more than good enough when you consider what the Niners have been dealing with for the last four years at left guard and right guard. One of those guard situations is always a rotation, a turn style, a bad player here. Oh, we're gonna give this guy a shot here. One of the, and the Brenda was very candid about this. He's like, it's really hard to play center when one of the guard spots is just a constant game of musical chairs. And it's been that way for four years. So it's not to say that this is some, you know, thing like, oh, Connor Colby played great in one game. It's permanent now because we saw how that happened last year. He played great against New Orleans and then he crapped the bed pretty much the rest of the way until they had to bench his ass. But auspicious that he was able to fight through the fact

that he got benched. I mean, how many times? Once, twice, three, four, five times, fight through it, keep on the grindstone, improve, visibly improve, get better at recognizing this stunts, get better at recognizing the handoffs, showin' some actual chemistry now with his center. And it's kind of hard to say he had chemistry with Trent because Trent spent most of the game on an island, especially in Passpro. But looking like he knew what he was doin' out there, which is not something you could have said about him last year, like he showed progression. And he has the physical talent to be a really, really good guard. He's a 95th percentile offensive line athlete. And if he can get some refinement in his game and refinements a long way off still, but if he can get some refinement in his game, he has a chance to be really quite good. We'll see how that develops, but this is a great start, because you're not asking the question going into week two that you were asking going into week one. That's a huge thing because you know in the NFL season, all that comes are more questions,

because of injury, because of poor play. You wanna answer questions, you don't wanna add more questions, because there's gonna be a lot of stuff that's out of your control that are gonna add the questions. So start solving problems in week one. And I think that they did that not just on offensive line, but in a couple of other spots as well. So the Rams come out in the nickel. Niners run the ball down the middle. 14 runs against their nickel. Yeah, before they pulled out of it, then Kyle started attacking to the perimeter. They had success running inside. They had success running outside against the 5-2. And it was a very successful game plan for the 49ers. Brock Purti was great after that, outside of the interception. Mike Evans had three uncharacteristic early snaps out of the slot that he caught for first downs. And the more I watched that, the more I think, wow, that's super exciting. I mean, it's not shocking though. Everyone's like, I can't believe they're using Mike Evans

in the slot and it's like, dude, that's where the X receiver plays for the 49ers. Like did we watch Shuaan Jennings last year? Now what's the difference between those two? It's pretty drastic. Well, and beyond that, and the Niners, what they're closed sets, and they're guys playing the middle of the field. And whether you are the actual slot or just in the middle of the field, but either way, I wasn't thinking about it as, first of all, all the receivers have to be able to play all the spots. It's not the offensive line. The center doesn't have to play left tackle. Every receiver, the X receiver, the F receiver, they all have to be able to play all three of them. They have to know, in a moment's notice, guys pull hammies, guys, there's only so many guys up. You have to know what's the point. They'll swap responsibilities because they know that the defense can't handle it. Yeah, I have to play all of them. But here, the point to me was more, this was early in the game. So this was by design, and this was not because of the injury to struggling, I don't think.

I love that look of, to me, Brock Purtey throwing timing routes to Mike Evans in the middle of the field out of the slot in section third downs is like, that could be as automatic as Rogers to Devonte Adams back on the day on the back shoulder. Which ran out of the slot a lot, by the way. And then slide Devonte in and they would do that stack on the left where Devonte was the Z. Yeah, and it helps you win a Super Bowl because you got to have something that you can go to when you got to have it and they have that now in Mike Evans. So they came out, they also had 12 passes behind the line of scrimmage. And I suggested in the pregame, hey, you know what? I tried to screen, you know, Garrett to death if possible. Q-Sack was like, you know, I'd like to take more shots down the field and stretch them out. And I, and I, you know, and I'm like, yeah, you know, I would like that too, but I really feel like you can scheme him out of the game. And then I watch kind of Shanahan literally do it. Right. And then they came out of the game.

They had him, they, they, they shipped him. They ran at him. They ran away from him. They, I mean, they, they gave him a variety of, of plays where they kind of just took him out. Yeah, took him out and they, they, they, they kind of, they used that as the anchor point to move away from. And it was well-schemed. And they gave me, I thought McIvitz and Trent were great, but I thought Shanahan had the biggest hand in, in Cubiac and the biggest hand in neutralizing Garrett. So now the question is, what do we see going forward? There was a 50-50 split between CMC and Kaelan Black. It made the fantasy people lose their S. And all I could say, Marcus in the Cambier League has CMC. And I said, Marcus, you've made a bad pick because this is going to stay this way. They're going to keep using 50-50, whether it's 50-50 CMC Kaelan Black or if it's 60-41 week, or if it's James, if it's Jordan James, it's going to be, there's going to be a split. They're going to take some load off of CMC.

So now you got Tonjes done for the year. You've got Stribbling done for the year. Shanahan said today we're, we, we feel like we, we're covered at wide receiver. They have to Marcus Robinson ready to step in and play. They also have Christian Kirk, ready to come off the injured list in week five. They also have Wesley Grimes and Will Pauling on the practice squad. And then there's Adarius Slate who's out there who is just a phone call away, really. And probably with a convincing call from Shanahan would probably sign for nothing with the 49ers. So they have options here. What should they do? I mean, they promoted Braden Willis. They signed Jack Stolt with the practice squad to take Willis's spot. That's the tight end move. And they say they like what they have at wide receiver. I do too. I've got to Marcus Robinson on the fantasy team. I could see him really being productive. What do you think of those two injuries? What would you, should they be in the market for for another tight end

or receiver or should they just do it with they do go it internally with what they've got? It would be nice if they could bring in somebody at tight end. I think that they're in a much more dire spot at tight end because yeah, George Kiddles on snap count. He was good, but he wasn't George Kiddles great in that game. And in fact, one of the things that in the early portion of the game, pretty impossible not to notice is that the Niners are trying to get Kiddles going a little bit. Like, let's see what this guy's got. Let's see what we can actually do with them because they barely practice with them. And pretty obvious, pretty early on. Like he ain't going to be the guy who's carrying you to the wind here. So we're going to need to go some other places. Now, Kiddles did perform a lot better as a blocker than I expected coming off in a Killy's injury, just ground force and all that. And I thought he was extremely serviceable, but right now he's like K dotting. And that doesn't mean that you can't win games with K dotting, but he's not George Kiddles, like future Hall of Famer, George Kiddles,

best tight end in the NFL, George Kiddles. And it's going to take a while. I imagine I guess that for him to get there, if he can get there. And I don't know where it all plateaus. But now you're really relying on Luke Farrell, who did have a nice enough game in week one, but has had some absolute disaster class games throughout his 49ers 10 year to the point where I was kind of shocked they kept him on the roster this past off season. They had an easy out on his contract. They could have taken it. And because of Kiddles injury, I think they panicked and just said, we can't be losing depth at this position, especially with a new tight ends coach coming in. So who the hell is going to scout our players for new tight ends? Not our tight ends coach, but that's a Niners problem. I thought Tonja's was going to have a monster year. I thought he had really progressed from where he was last year when he was very valuable to the Niners. I thought that he had improved as a blocker to become like perhaps even serviceable. I thought that he was, I mean, you and I both saw it. He was cooking dudes and practices. We wouldn't go more than a couple days without a Jake Tonja stay at practice.

I thought he was going to be really, really valuable for this team. And the drop off from him to Braden Willis or Guy off the street or Khalil Denkins is humongous. And so I would be looking to bring in a third tight end who you can reasonably put on the field for 25, 30 snaps of game. Not that you have to right now, but if that moment comes, it can't be Braden Willis. It just can't be. They blew this. I mean, I mean, I don't want to be super critical. And I know all, but I mean, the packers like a couple weeks ago, signed Johnny Smith. Johnny Smith is a veteran. He's he can move. He can catch. He was out there. They it was easy for anybody to see that they were going to come up short tight end wise. But and he could have had him now. He's in Green Bay, you know, and he would have been a great. He would have been kind of like a Jordan Reed receiver type of veteran who could really help in the past game. Now, who knows? I mean, you know, tight ends beauty in the eye of the beholder. Probably somebody they could get at some point. It won't be. I'd bring in Jason Hill, man.

That's who I'd bring in really. You want to go ahead like kind of on your skies guy. I mean, they worked out Lawrence Cajer earlier this week and decided to go against that. And Cajers of Cajers, a flex out tight end from Georgia is pretty lean, pretty athletic. Donald Parham's hanging around Mercedes Lewis at 42 years old is hanging around. He's a blocker dominating blocker. What would you like your tight end to be? Do you want your tight end to be a blocker or do you want your tight end to be a receiver? Well, I think in this case, you're going to need a blocker. And, um, yeah, I, I, there's plenty of options. But this is the other aspect of the 13 personnel frenzy, which never really materialized. But every team around the league looking at all of these nickel and dime sets that defenses are playing now says, oh, let's get meteor. Let's get heavier. And they figured out what I figured out when I was eight years old, which is build the whole goddamn team out of tight ends, like build the whole defense out of safety. Build the whole goddamn off fence out of tight ends.

And now everyone's getting tight. I mean, you had blocking tight ends going in the second round of the NFL draft. Wasn't a good NFL draft, but that's still insane. So anybody who's got anyone who's got a lick of competence to a, I'm pretty sure is gone. Unless they have a really good reason not to assign somewhere. People are going to keep saying Zach Hertz. If Zach Hertz really wanted to play, Zach Hertz would be playing somewhere. He doesn't lack for job opportunities. He lacks for perhaps, and I don't know Zach Hertz personally, but I would guess that he lacks the motivation to play professional football for another year. He might change his mind as the season goes on. But again, it's not, it's not as if Zach Hertz ain't getting calls saying you want to come play tight end for us because he's a good tight end. He's like, he's been available so many years and he's never come here. So I might got my feeling he probably doesn't want to play here. Right. So maybe the Niners passed him in the draft and he's got a, you know, spur over that or something. But it's only to say that they did leave themselves in a very, and this is something they've

done for months now. It was clear. I mean, you and I were both very much of the mindset of like, what are we doing? Pretending kiddos playing in week one. Like the dude tours a kill is in January. Okay, he played great. He played in week one. People are like, crew, you need to tell everybody you were wrong. And it's like, you know what? I guess I was wrong, but you know what? Did he look like a player that did he look anything like George Kittle? To me, he doesn't look anything like George Kittle. To me, he looks like a guy about 65%. Yeah. Now, again, very good. I love him for doing it. You know, old coach said to me, the old, old ball coaches up in heaven right now. And he said to me, he's like, crew, can we tell you guys who love the play? Yeah. Find their way to the field. The guys who don't love the play, find their way off of that field. And that's what I've learned from this thing with Kittle. He loves to play, man. Yes. You would stand right here. I'd be a George. You love to play. And you love to play. You love to play. You love to play. You love to play because, because you know what?

He set a new record. I mean, he came back in seven months and change when the estimates were nine to 12 months recovery. I'm aggressive, right? Yeah. He's like, yeah, and he came back after nine to months. And I'm like, I don't want to correct you on the radio, but it was seven months and change. It wasn't even eight. It was less than eight months. And it's like this sides are incredible. Yeah. I mean, by the way, here is the, here's the list of mentioned the list. Here's the list of available tight ends. This is what I'm looking at. Hill. Here's the power that this will just think a lot of these guys are not in fact available. I have found over the years. I don't think there are. I mean, they're hurt a lot. They're hurt a lot. I mean, there's a lot of guys that are hurt. I'll tell you the guy that's down this list that's interesting to me. I'm sure John Fitzpatrick is on. No, I stand corrected. John Fitzpatrick's available. Go sign him. He was someone I wanted them to sign this off season. Go sign John Fitzpatrick. The former packer.

Yeah. Nick Vanette's been a fan at from Ohio State's been around the block a bunch. I think he tours at killies. Okay. Well, that's a good reason or give him whatever kid I got. I like Albert O down here from Missouri. Don't you start me on Albert O. Here's the problem with Albert O. Not an athlete. And no, but he, no, he's not, but he's a, he is a big body guy who has some movement ability. And he's got some upper body strength. I kind of saw, I saw a couple reps of him and was it maybe the preseason? Who is he with in preseason? He looked good in the preseason. Raiders. Yeah. You know, he moved some people on the line of scrimmage in one of those games. I was watching. I was watching, I was watching the Raiders dolphins film for which I deserve hazard pay. And what was his name? This tight end 80. I think it's Hamilton for the Raiders. That's a big boy. That's the kind of guy that Niners need. They need like a, they need a, a Mo Ali Cox type in their life. That's what they need. They need just a guy who you know he's coming in Washington from the Steelers.

Right. He's coming in to run some bloody over. And it would be a total shock if he ever went out on a route. But hey, so be it. Just give me the sixth offensive lineman. And I'm going to say it, Larry. I'm going to pull Larry right now. He's got my e and Thomas. E and Thomas. I like me. He was ball and dude. No, it's not hard. He's a good receiver to use. He was a good receiver. He can catch it. But yeah, they need to figure something out. Braden Willis has not been the answer for a long time. I like Braden Willis a lot on a personal level. I think they really like him. He's just he's really easy to get along with. And he can play a couple positions. And that's the kind of thing that coaches love, right? Like he's a good guy to have around. And you can have trust him to do five things. That doesn't get it done come crunch time of the NFL season. And that's what John Lynch needs to be thinking about. He's a fullback. He's a fullback. Yeah, how fucked are we in November? If any of our if our only two tight ends that we can play in the NFL right now go down.

And like how screwed are we? If Kyle use check goes down, they don't have a backup there either except if you want to call it Willis because the other thing that you lose now with Tondjes is he was the backup H back. He was the backup fullback. And he was the one working on all the reps for dash motion and things like that. So and that is fundamental at this point. It's not like a quirk and that's fundamental to their offense. And in creating good gap scheme stuff behind the zone stuff that they play up front. That's more way more concerning to me than. And oh no, we have to play to Marcus Robinson 45 snaps a game, which isn't ideal seeing as when we got to OTAs were like is the Marcus Robinson getting cut. And now he's like the second best receiver on the team because Devo barely qualifies as a receiver. He's I think he's going off. I think I don't disagree with that. It's only again, the guy had like 200 yards all of last season. He had real issues in terms of lining up in the right spots. He had that great touchdown that was skimmed up right for him.

He has the long speed. I like to Marcus Robinson a lot. I like him a lot more if I can bring him in for 10 15 snaps a game than having to play him 35 40. That's all I'm saying. Brock will figure it out. That is one of the perks of having a really good quarterback is you don't have to think about it too hard and not worry about that kind of stuff too much. But that's not that's not as dire than Hey man Luke Farrell went out. Now you got George Kittle and Braden Willis out that that's dire. And they didn't address it at the draft. And the reason they didn't address it at this draft is because they hadn't hired a tight ends coach. It was always going to be Clement, but like I don't know why they thought they could get somebody else in there. Whoever they thought they could get they didn't get. I don't know who that person is. I should probably check up on that. We make a note here. And so they didn't have a tight ends coach. And you and I have talked about this a hundred times Larry. These is these assistant coaches, these position coaches actually run the 49ers draft. They get the list, the kind of the big compendium of here are the players that you know are

draftable. And the assistant coaches, the position coaches go in and they pick their guys and they get to day three of the draft. And John Lynch says, okay, we're doing an auction. Who wants the most? And you guys have to pound the table and make their case and it's like, you know, Lions Den or what do they call it here? Shark Tank for players, but only position coaches get to have a say, well, the Niner didn't have a position coach at tight end. So they don't draft the tight end in a draft where tight ends are going left, right and center. And frankly, it was one of the two or three deep positions in the entire draft of a bad draft. And then they don't get anybody in free agency, which was prior to that. They don't get anyone in free agency. They don't get anybody in the draft and they go, oh, we'll be fine. And then you know, Luke Tondjes and I forgive me my callousness. Tears is ACL and perhaps the funniest way possible unless there was a banana peel on the field. The only fun of your way is trying to trip someone and busting your knee because he's so strong.

But in all seriousness, now you look screwed because you didn't even get, you didn't even, you rotated out how many tight ends in training camp and none of them are on your roster now. I mean, to get rid of all these former Bengals that they brought in, they knew it was a problem. They didn't address the problem. And now it's a real problem. Now it's a tangible issue. They thought that they could get away with it. It took like 10 snaps for them to actually run into the problem. And I don't think without moving a draft pick, they're going to be able to get somebody that can seriously help them down the line because it's ridiculous to think that George Kittle is going to give you a full complement of snaps this season. And it's stupid to think that Luke Farrell is going to turn into a kind of tight end. That could be, let's just call it fantasy relevant for this team. And oh, yeah, now Kyle, you check the most important guy at work, which he's kind of always been, but now it's really, really important because you don't have a viable back up there. But you still got Braden Willis, who no one else in the NFL has ever wanted. And I know this because they've cut him like four times now and he's never gotten picked

up anywhere else. I mean, he's a good blocker as a fullback, but he can't block the defensive end. The guy, the move that they pull that they, you know, you got to go for special players in the draft. And they passed on Tyler Warren. I mean, you could have had Tyler Warren last year. Tyler Warren. When Kyle is clearing out two guys at a time so that Nick Bosa can stunt. I like Michele, but I mean, Tyler Warren's a star. He's one of the best young tight ends in football. It would have been, it would have been a very good draft pick. I'm not going to, I'm not going to spare a good Tyler Warren. I just, but they got to find someone on my board. Yeah, I mean, I mean, they got a good player too. We'll see if he can sack the quarterback. He's got one sack. But he's never been his job. It's never been his job, but he will defensive end. He gets to this team. Well, they better, they, you know, they better. Do you like him? What you're seeing from Keon White? I do actually. I love what I see from Keon. On steroids. That's my Kell Williams for you. I mean, no, I know he's good. He's good against the run. The numbers showed it. And he's, he's kind of a badass.

He can whip the tight end. He's awesome rusher inside. I love him in a group. I just don't think he's ever going to be the guy if it has to be like him and only him. Well, he's going to be, he's going to be part of a, he was part of a good, really impressive contingent at Georgia. And they won. And if the Niners have a real deep defensive line, they pinch potentially do. He's going to add to that. I like Miguel. I just very Trayvon Walker. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Trayvon Walker might be like, maybe not one of the way to underrated players of all football. Maybe not quite as much juice. Trayvon Walker's got a little bit more juice. Yeah. Trayvon Walker does have 27 sacks in his career. So, yeah, Trayvon Walker's got a little juice. But you know, when I asked Colt McIvitz one time, would you rather block Trayvon Walker or Speed Guy and he's like, give me the bigger guy every time it's, you know, the hard, it's hard to block the little guys. Dude, what dogs is Snatch Michael Trigg from the Cowboys? Now, I'm a big Michael Trigg fan. He made some amazing one handed grabs kind of old, old, backup type grabs at Baylor.

This is the Baylor. And, and he's, and he's on their practice squad and, you know, he's, but he's a receiver. I mean, he's more, much more of a receiver than a blocker. If you're looking for a blocker, they're probably going to re-sign Hayden Ruchi, you know, off the street. That's what I'm thinking. I could see that's what they did because they had him a summer Hayden Ruchi. I mean, like, what are we, what are we pretending to know? The guy they signed him to a futures contract and then suddenly he's on the 53. And it's like, I'd rather them coach up and reek a cruise. If you're going to give, in reek a cruise or roster spot, let's put him out there. I was going to say it legitimately in reek a cruise as a tight end sixth offensive lineman. He's exciting. He's exciting. Yes. Oh, not viable. There's wheat. There's big time upside. Um, you might not have, you might not have, but if he doesn't have the footwork for tackle, tight end might be a bit much. But this is a good question. I love this guy in the draft. Where's R.J. Maryland, Deeter? Can you look that up? I got R.J. Maryland and hebner both were great for SMU. Right now that he make, no, he did not make, was he on the Cowboys?

At the lead, he was on Green Bay and I had Green Bay's death chart up here, but he is not. I think Maryland would be the guy to go sign. I love R.J. Maryland as far as a receiver. He's a little under size 6 4 240, but this guy has a real player. I don't think he's on a practice squad anymore. Really? R.J. Maryland. That's a great one right there from L.O. Lowe's truth. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Um, but this is the thing. He's 236 pounds, 6 foot 3. He's a smooth, but like, again, I would lean more towards you. I mean, he's just, Thomas is the same kind of thing, right? Right, but how long did it take, Thomas? Right. We don't have that. But I mean, that's what this kid is. This guy's really a great athlete and he's a really a great receiver. Um, one guy here, Anthony Vinnie says, signing Anthony Richardson, put him at tight end, do it, Larry.

He won the number two job away from Riley Leonard. He's the number two, Anthony Richardson's the number two quarterback. I wouldn't call it won the number two job. I think he was, he survived. He survived. I think that if, uh, if Daniel Jones goes down and by the way, did he look like dog water? It's so funny. A guy who tore his Achilles last year can't actually deliver a ball down field anymore. Um, again, I deserve hazard pay for watching. Well, I mean, you got to sit out. This is why you have to sit out as much time as you got to take full rehab because I don't think he's fully rehab. Um, John Lynch came on today and Shanahan and Lynch had the same message coming out of the Ram game. They both are saying that the focus was how they won this game. John's like, we focused impressively. Kyle Shanahan was asked about reactivating to this time zone and everything. He's like, look, we won in Melbourne because we were the more focused team. And if we win this week, Sunday, it's because we're the more focused team. So they're preaching focus.

Lynch also added that the team he felt bonded, uh, on the trip. And I had a couple guys in the locker room. Tell me the same thing today that they feel like the trip bonded them more than tired them out in any way that they actually had time to spend together and they, you know, the offense spent time with the defense and corners and met offensive linemen. And it's like he's, you know, some guys were like, Hey, this is, this was a really, really good thing for us. Sure. Um, and then Shanahan Lynch was asked one more question. Hey, you know, how are the Niners going to handle the travel and all that? And I'll give Lynch credit. He said, we'll see. Yeah. And that's, I, to me, that is a great answer by John because I tell I feel about it as well. Um, how are the Niners going to bounce back from this international travel? We'll see. I'm not, don't get that. I don't read that as I'm rooting against them. I'm not. No, I'm just saying this is unprecedented travel. And the distance is great. And the Rams, I think looked a little, a little like a shell of themselves in that game,

not to take anything away from the Niners because the Niners deserve the win. But yeah, they won by 20 though. If the Niners, if the Niners look really flat, I mean, if the Niners lose to the dolphins this week, then there's something to it. The Niners are super flat. And this is a, their life and death to beat the, the super young dolphins at home. They suck. That will be proof that, that the travel had something to do with it. This is in my mind. In my mind. Yeah. No, absolutely. And I actually do, I mean, I'm guessing that they do come out flat because it's going to be hard to get juiced up for this because they're going to watch the tape and they're going to be like, really? This team is in the NFL. Um, all right. Well, you know, we'll go out there, give it our best shot. They'll have a bunch of stuff skamed up. I think they can sleepwalk and win this game. Now, can they cover? That's maybe more important question because great teams cover and good teams just win. And it's a 13 and a half point spread. But you know, at the same time, because the game was on a Thursday, I'm sure, you know, Kyle even invented the weekend, probably sucked.

And now you're in it, right? And I'm not expecting it. Now I didn't fly to Australia myself and easy for me to say, but as someone who's done some pretty long distance travel, you get over it. You get over it and you're up for the game. Kyle's got this thing. Kyle, can you think of a game that Kyle hasn't had his team up for ever? The kids really love that playhouse, huh? They consistently fire under Kyle as far as- Don't get me wrong, but in terms of- I mean, the last time I felt like they didn't play well, like they didn't show up, there were two games. And I don't think that's what I was looking at. One of them was burrow and Bengals at home a couple of years ago. That was just a third-getting cooked. But also there was a 13-day rest disadvantage. And it really looked like it. And since then I did whatever they wanted. The other one was way, way, way back when Ryan Fitzpatrick beat them,

when he went at Brian Allen, the Niners replacement corner who they signed off of off the street on Wednesday. And they started him Sunday. And literally Fitzpatrick came out of the huddle on every play going like this. Where is he? He's right there. He's right there. They're a glittery pointing at this guy. And then they're like dropping back past and going at him. Next play coming out of the huddle. It's right there. It's right there. They're going right out of it. I've never seen anything like that in my life. If I ever get Fitzpatrick on a media show, I'm going to ask him about that game at Levi's because he literally called out Brian Allen by name with a pointing at him. The entire first half enroasted him. I remember that. That was a great poll. It was stunning. It wasn't that stunning. I would have done it. It was stunning to see a quarterback literally point at the guy. Because it was and it wasn't like you got point out the mic. You got to find B.A.

Pointing out the guy and going at him. I mean, it was it was and I balled him if it didn't work. Yeah, I don't I don't have anything that comes to mind where I go, oh, the Niners weren't up for this game. I could say the Niners were overmatched in this game. I could say that Kyle Shanahan called the bad game. I can say I was but I've never once felt like the team had overarching lack of effort. Even in the game that is a great call in the Cincinnati game where Burrow just cooked him at Levi's. I thought they were 84% or some ridiculous. I thought they were I thought they were trying. It just they were in they were in sand. And they missed a ton of tackles. And I mean was Nick so who was their defensive was it Nick Sorenson that year was at a Wilks year. Either way, incompetence at the position because they just kept dropping into a simple zone and Joe Burrow's like really? Like a brand new out there. So again, I I've seen some teams throughout the years and the Niners have delivered enough body blows

to where you can see teams quit. And in fact, you might even make the argument that the Rams quit in week one. I have not seen at least to my you know, top of the mind recollection, the Niners not be up for a game or really quit in a game earnestly. And that speaks to the head coach. That speaks to the culture of the organization. And I think that they will have the requisite amount of Steve Kerr likes to call it appropriate fear for this game because the dolphins did so much wrong in week one that if they correct a lot of that stuff, which is what week one to week two is all about correcting your wrongs, they might have something to them. I don't think that's going to happen, but it could happen. So long as the Niners come in there and are able to just play a C game they'll win with ease. And I don't know if it's a trap game or anything like that. And I'm not, the only guy I saw seemingly having any issues with the travels Brandon Codrington, who was just straight up asleep in his locker before practice on Wednesday,

which I don't blame if I'd be sleeping too. But seems like everybody was like, yeah, I'm over it now, I'm over it now. Getting to Sunday, that's a long ways away. I mean, that's a full week of a climateizing back. And in the same way, the Niners, a climateized pretty well to Australia, I imagine they're gonna get back to it. And maybe we'll start seeing this when they get to the Broncos, whatever that is, certainly Seattle. And maybe it starts to kind of wear where, hey, man, remember that time we had to get on 16 hour flights to go to a game, but then they do have a pretty early buy week. So we'll see, but I don't think it's going to be a really viable excuse unless it's a blatant sleepwalk effort, kind of not showing up to play. And I just have a hard time imagining that, because I've never really seen it before from a Kyle Shanahan team. Before we get to our prize picks lineup, and we will look ahead to Dolphins 49ers on Sunday, you know, you and I say things all the time. Sometimes we're right, sometimes we're wrong. And the one, what's that? We never. I've never been wrong. I've only had coaches, officials, and players fail me.

My questions are all right though. All right. Well, one guy that you were not a fan of, that did play really well this week, in my opinion, when I watched the film back, was Jaden Dugger. And when I watched the film of the nine or defense, the Niners got inside, they did the most amazing thing. They, the numbers against Stafford, the bullet, his numbers against the blitz last year were comical. He was like 13 touchdowns and one pick, and he was just great. Yeah. And the Niners, you know, didn't sack him, but they did get a lot of inside pressure, and they sped him up a little bit. And they did it by only, and they only blitzed five guys. They only went with five men in pressure three times the entire game. Right. I asked for him today about his corners, because he played Lenore on the boundary exclusively, played green on the field side, exclusively. Didn't go left and right, didn't play matchups. He said, hey, look, you know, I want the latitude to be able to do everything. So sometimes I mean, I am going to play matchups, and sometimes I am going to play left and right. And he said, basically, we played field and boundary,

boundary for Lenore and field for green, because we've been wrapping it that way in practice. We wanted to take advantage of those practice reps, because they were comfortable. It makes all the sense in the world. And one of the big reasons the Niners were able to beat the Eagles and the playoffs is because Robert Salah finally figured out, hey, you know that guy who was one of the best nickel corners in the NFL, nickel corners and oxymoron, but the best nickel backs in the NFL that you then moved to the outside, which again, very good at that, but not as good as he was at nickel. How about we put him on the smaller side of the field, so he's in the action more? What a concept. Took him all the way to the playoffs to figure that one out. And where he more us watches that tape and goes, yeah, duh. Let's do that, especially if we're going to be running cover six, which means that you have to have field and boundary sides. Right, right. And then they did a lot of cover six. I mean, I would say it was at least 40% combo either cover six, covering, but Bosa and Warner played amazing football on this game. Warner was fantastic. 11 tackles, a punch out. Bosa was the best I've ever seen him against the run. He was just so good, so aggressive.

He was so aggressive against the run. And he had so many good angles, so many good hits. A key on white was used in a couple different spots. I thought his versatility showed. And then Dugger. And, you know, the Niners did some stunting off the loaded, off the loaded fronts. And they used him as the looper sometimes. And the looper got free in the middle of the field, a couple times untouched. And then he got the ball. And you can see a couple of the plays right after the looper came untouched. They didn't happen to sack Stafford. But Stafford looked the most fidgety after those plays after he saw the looper come around and sprint through the A gap. I think once it was Romello, maybe once or twice it might have been Dougger, but Roheem found a way to not blitz Stafford and still to pressure him, speed him up and move him off his spot. And that's like nearly impossible to do

considering the way he's played the last couple of years and how great he is and how much he's seen. So what did you think? Give me your thoughts on what Rahim got done because a lot of people were saying, hey, you know what, post is their number one sack guy in the scheme. Rahim in the scheme is gonna be the, you know, he's gonna be a big part of their rush. And I kind of made fun of it, but sure enough Rahim's schemeed up pressure in the middle and they got 14 pressures and eight hits on the quarterback. And if you're not gonna sack the quarterback, man, that's probably the best you can do. Yeah, no, they thought they were immense. There's still some stuff to clean up. Don't get crazy about it now, but. But that was Lynch said it today, the schematic variety that we've seen with Rahim is great. This is the biggest change. Get Luke Gifford said at the John Lund on the radio the day. So this is the biggest change in scheme

that the Niners have seen in a long, long time. That's actually actually doing scheme. Like not to be, not to be, you know, crass here, but like Steve Wilkes didn't have scheme. Nick Sorenson had no idea what he was doing. And Robert Salas, like we're gonna play landmark zone, no matter what. And they tried some scheme early and then a couple guys get injured and he goes, Hey, I couldn't possibly do that anymore. I got to cover my ass. I got to get a new job. So Rahim comes in and Rahim, I can understand why, I mean, I got a lot of pushback from my positive comments about Rahim, the pragmatist throughout the offseason after they hired him. I thought it was a great hire, especially compared to Gus Bradley, who shares Helly and a Schumer. And it's still running stuff like it's 2012. Good luck to that. But when they get Rahim, I go, he's a pragmatist. He will adapt to his personnel. He will figure out what he needs to do to get the job done.

Now sometimes that gets your teams running into problems. But you think about the improvements that Atlanta made from 24 to 25 under Rahim on the defensive side. They didn't have as much talent as they did. And they were young and they were super young. Yeah, you're talking about Xavier Watts. You're talking about, you're talking about last year, Jaylen Walker, James Pierce. Yeah. And listen, to be fair, Jeff Olberg deserves a lot of credit for this. And let's not forget that Jeff Olberg has been tried, Kyle Shanahan has tried to hire him like three times now and he's been rebuffed every time. And in one time they thought they had him only for Olberg to renegade the last minute. Regardless, Olberg and Morris came up with a scheme last year for Atlanta that made them one of the best pressure teams in the NFL. And I don't think a casual football fan could have named a single defensive player on their team. It was scheme. It was scheme and it was using the personnel to the best of its ability. And it burned them a couple times. And Kyle Shanahan had their way with them when they played last year on Monday night football.

And they gap-schemed them to hell because they dusted off dash motion, which they used three or four times in week one, put on the shelf. And then they said, we're busing this out. We're going to run this every damn play. And Rahim had no idea what was happening because it wasn't on the film. So there's that, right? And then in-game adjustments with the game was already over. But Rahim is, no one can put a label on him as he's this kind of guy because he's always a different kind of guy. And the things that I was most impressed by weren't the stunts. That's a lot of the stuff that him and Olberg did last year. He brought to the 49ers. Five-man fronts trying to have more versatile linebackers at Sam and Will, a bunch of stuff. Certain splits on the defensive line, which I'm sure Chris Kiseric loved going away from the exact same techniques that they've always had to now actually line it up a dude on the nose, all this stuff, playing a lot more man-match cover on the backside, going too high at a much, much higher rate than the Niners have done in years. But also, the personnel groupings

that they would throw out there just to be funky. Funky for the sake of funky. And I only bring this up as maybe the anchor point of all of it because it's so frustrating that I didn't see this coming and I'm angry at myself. The dime package that they threw out there when they had the lead and it was second and long, third and long. But the dime package where you have Jack Jones and Monardo Green at corner, and then you have up and stout who I thought was immense in this contest. Oh, he was awesome. And he's a really, really good player. The problem is you watch it and you go, I do not know how long he is going to live. He plays so hard, he plays so well, and he is so small. But he is outstanding. And then they slide in Lenore to be the dime back. And we've talked ad nauseam about all of these. And I like to call them apex, but you can call them whatever you want, jackals, jokers, whatever. Nicki Manwari and Durwin James and Buddha Baker and now Caleb Fields and Marlon Humphrey, all these guys.

There's Kyle Hamilton, I apologize. Kyle Hamilton, you think about all these guys who are kind of these positionless dudes. They're a safety, but they're in the box. They're a corner, but they're playing inside in the case of like a Devon Witherspoon. And you think to yourself, oh, duh. Let's take one of our best football players, who is a better football player than he is a corner in in Deamander, Lenore. And let's get him in the action. And that dime stuff that they did, and I had it charted for eight. Some people have it at 12. I saw eight where Jack Jones out there, Jack Jones had a tremendous camp. He was just as good as Renardo Green. Now, Renardo Green's got the pedigree. He's got the upside. They're going to go with Renardo Green if it was anywhere close and it was. But yeah, get him on the field. Let him do something. Keeps out on the field. It's a second and third long. It's a passing situation. Get your best defenders out there. And if you want to try some funky stuff, that's fine because Deamander, Lenore can play as a linebacker now. We've seen him do it before. We know up in Stout has no regard for his own life. And now you have two corners on the outside who can do more than just hold up.

They're really, really good. And I think maybe the bed that I love. The best look that I saw was sending Stout who's like a missile at the quarterback and dropping Jones into his spot. And the natural inclination is to want to attack where the vacated defender was. But then you got Jones with his crazy ball skills and his ability to jump routes. I'm telling you, if they do that five more times, they're either going to get sacks or they're going to get sacks and interceptions. Yeah, it's going to be like Stout on the blitz with Jones replacing him. He's going to produce sacks and picks. I love that. I love that time package. I love that time package. And it also must be noted because we probably have been derelict and not talking about this enough. But like, you know what? It looks a hell of a lot better. When you have Fred Warner in the middle of your defense at middle linebacker, your past defense is going to be a hell of a lot better. And your run defense is going to be a hell of a lot better. Because there's not a better run fitting linebacker

than Fred Warner. And they're sure as hell in a better past coverage linebacker than Fred Warner, he is, and he's so big. And I think that maybe it's just the juxtaposition of watching Kendrick's and Walo and Tatum Bethune, those final weeks of the season, and going like, yeah, linebacker, right? And then you see Fred Warner out there, like six foot, three, six foot, four floating, just, yeah, ice skating anywhere he wants to go. Just looking like Knight Crawler from X-Men. Just he sees a spot he gets to the spot. And you're like, oh, right, there are levels to this. I would have also taken sunny styles early in the draft if I had access to Fred Warner film. It is, he is immense. He is immense. And I'll be honest, I thought Fred Warner was kind of crappy. He's taking, Warner is taking his game with the punch outs to the next level. And he looks, he was a very good player who is a perennial pro-bolaer, who now looks like he's on a Hall of Fame trajectory. Yeah, and the punch out thing is such a classic example

of how like, here's how good you are. You got all your other stuff done so you can take on a little side job of like, I'll just get in there and punch that thing out and just nail it every time. Because he had one earlier, the guy was already on the ground, but he made him go, and then he got him later. Garrett Walsh told me that, you know, it's uncanny how often he can punch it out. All right, let's do this. Let's take a quick, a size. As Jordan James about that. Yeah, we'll take a quick perusal. And the course tell you the crew show is presented by prize picks, America's number one sports picks app. Just pick more or less on player stats or choose game outcomes, build your lineup. It's available in most states including California. Sign up with code HMA, play your first $5 lineup. If it's a winner, you're getting 150 bucks in free bonus lineups. That's code HMA, play five bucks, win it, and get 150 bucks in bonus lineups. If your first lineup is a winner, and we are going to, I've already done the lineup to save a little time, but this is what I'm going with, dear, what do you think of this?

Five pick flex play, $5 pays 40. I got, I got a pretty with a fantasy score over 19. I think he's gonna have a big day. I have no idea what constitutes a fantasy score, but yeah, I'm in on Brock Pertie having a big day. Big day, big day against a young secondary without a lot of past sort of shop robinson. In the concussion protocol. Their past rush last week, they weren't getting home against Kirk Cousins, even when they blitzed. So I think they got them twice to work Kirk through two bad interceptions, and but it's Kirk Kirk looks awful. And Kirk was still able to carve a mop on one leg. It's with some pretty bad receivers. Christian McCaffrey with Kaelan Black with the groin. I would say 15 rush attempts for CMC. I think that's a fair one though. I think having watched Gentie again, just tear these guys up, and they did a lot of two true running back looks. The Raiders did where they had Dylan Lauby or they had Mike Washington back there. They had two running backs on the field a lot.

And in fact, I think even more than they had a full back on the field. And this is obviously a Concubiaque offense. It wouldn't shock me at all. If Christian McCaffrey had like a hundred yards receiving in this game because those linebacker, I like Gay and I like, forgive me, the other linebacker outside linebacker. But I'll tell you this is Jacob Rodriguez kid. He might be something down the line, but he ain't it now. And he is just lost, lost out there. I can't imagine Kyle's not looking at that and saying, the safeties don't know what they're doing. That middle linebacker doesn't know what he's doing. Guess who's having a big day? 23 on a little Texas route. We're just gonna run it at him until they stop it. And I don't think they're gonna stop it. Rodriguez at 14 tackles. He's also their long snapper. I mean, the guy's doing it all. Are you kidding me? I didn't notice that. That's unbelievable. That tape watching from me. He's there long snapper and Kaleik Kubey I've compared him to Warner today. Okay, well, that's one of the stupidest things of it. That's what he said. I mean, I'm watching. I don't think he got a lot of the entire game.

First of all, he had 14 tackles. 14 tackles five so far. I've watched snapper snap of that game, Larry. I did too. I was always him getting washed away. I didn't notice sometimes in the game either, but 14 tackles a lot of tackles. It's a lot of tackles. What about Tucker Edgerton? Is he not their long snapper? Is this deaf charting correct? According to the story I read today, he did the long snapping. That's unbelievable. So I don't know. I mean, I mentioned that to Kubeyaki, kind of, left. So I get Krishmikafri 15 rush attempts. DeMarcus Robinson, 26 receiving yards. I think that's very, very likely. The Dolphin said three of their lowest rated players in week one were all corners or DBs. Mike Evans, I have more than three and a half receptions, so four receptions for him. And then Devon H. Ann, you know, they basically, the Ose, what's it to, what's the guy's name? Slavic, Bobby Slavic, the OC, came out and said this week. He's like, we need to get Devon H. Ann more than 14 touches

because he had 14 touches last week. So I'm thinking he's going to have like, you know, least 15 to 20 rush attempts and maybe 20 to 25 touches. So there you go. $5 pays 40. Good luck to you all. I'll say this to, I'm also, thank you, and thank you to PrizePix, by the way, for being a proud sponsor of the crew show. We appreciate them. We'll move everything around here. By the way, here's my parlay, my week two parlay. I'm already 1 to 0 to 16 parlay. Bears, Patriots, Buccaneers, Ravens, Bills tonight, Eagles, six for six. If you bet 20 bucks on it, you're going to win basically $196. So there you go. I'm sorry, Larry. I'm completely preoccupied with the fact that the Jacob Rodriguez did in fact have four snaps as the long snapper against the Raiders. And I didn't notice it.

It's kind of wild, actually. And it's funny. John, Jeff Hathley was with the Niners. I don't remember Jeff Hathley that much with the Niners. And I don't know that I ever talked to Jeff Hathley. But he had an interesting sound bite today that I thought was really good. I'll play it right here. I'll share the screen. And basically, credits his time with the 49ers, Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch, as far as the structure, he's got John Eric Sullivan and him both from Green Bay. And I thought John Eric Sullivan had a phenomenal first draft, including Jacob Rodriguez. Here's Hathley talking about how the dolphins kind of stole their organizational structure from Shanahan. Great question. And I kind of mentioned this before. This was the biggest lasting impression for me as a younger coach when I left the Niners. John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan coming in together, being aligned. They kind of sent a message to me.

If I ever get a chance to do this, I want it to be like that. I want it to be somebody that I'm aligned with. When I came in and John Lynch, who one of the best obviously football players, Hall of Fame football player, what you want to talk about a good guy, who is one of the best team of games of all time, combined that with Kyle. I just think it's such a great fit. And remember, we're all a nine. Kyle's first season on there. We started off all a nine. We won a bunch of games. And next year, I think we won four or five games. And here three days went to the Super Bowl. So he had a process. And Kyle's a huge influence on me. And I truly believe he's one of the reasons that I'm here right now. A great coach, great friend, but I've learned so much from him. And seeing him stick to the process and hold people to a standard during two really hard years and building it the right way and not flinching. And him and John just being like this. I mean, that's, I just, I think that his stuff with me, and that's, you know, you look at us now. You know, I'm not saying by any means it's, we're going to start that way, but slowly and I together,

trying to build this thing the right way, kind of kind of getting the blue from that. Yeah, good stuff there from Halfley. And, you know, I'm a green bass got a great reputation. You know, John Schneider, Green Bay, Ted Thompson, Green Bay, Reggie McKenzie, Green Bay. The Green Bay's had a lot of good, a lot of good personal guess. Ron Wolf, yeah, the Ron Wolf tree, Elliott Wolf. So Green Bay's been great as far as being able to find Scott McClellan, you know, where he was he, he was Green Bay. There's a lot of really good, and in some ways, I kind of feel like, you know, this kind of John Erick Sullivan is the kind of guy that I think the 49ers should try to seek out, you know, that proven scout personnel guy from a really solid organization. Look at, look at their draft this year on offense Caleb Douglas, Chris Bell, Kevin Coleman from Missouri, Caden Proctor, graded out as their highest graded offensive line meeting, in the first, first week of the season,

Will Cack Merrick, the blocking tight end, probably the best blocking tight end in the draft. They got Justin Jolly from NC State at the cut down, but he's a really good rookie. And then then on the defensive side, you got Jacob Rodriguez, Michael Taff, Chris Johnson, Chris Johnson got worked a little bit. No, Chris Johnson had a tough day, but Chris Johnson, he's got some licks in there too. Oh, yeah, and he's a great player. I mean, he was a great player at San Diego State, and to me, he was one of the most for sure, one of the most for sure safe players in the draft. So I mean, you know, you're talking about a draft where you, you added a lot, and this is in their down year. Kyle Lewis, I even mentioned him from pit, who's a very, very, very talented linebacker, running hit linebacker very fast. So I mean, really you look at it. Three impact players, maybe I'm defense between that guy, Johnson and Rodriguez, and then on offense, Bell Douglas Coleman Proctor, Cach Merrick, Cach Merrick, Jolly, they added some good talent there. I'm not a huge Malik Willis fan,

but he was in Green Bay. He's got a rocket for an arm. He's very, very fast. You know, there's worse options there. They had to go some direction post-tua. They got under, out from underneath to, they didn't trade H&N like they said they were going to, but my whole point is just that, you know, one, I think the dolphins are the arrows pointing up. Now, they're probably going to get their doors knocked off. No, where else to go down? Yeah, I mean, but I mean, they have, they haven't won a playoff game in like 26 years. Buddy, I covered the dolphins, I know. Yeah, I talked to Joe Rose, and he's like, dude, it's been the fans here have been tortured. I love Joe Rose. And, and Joseph. See, Joe this week. Oh, Joe's a great guy. Joe and Joe and I are old friends. And Joe's family are big fans of KMBR, and they live up in Mary'sville and North, you know, by sat in North of Sacramento. And he's Joe's, Joe's like family. Joe's one, baby. We had him on this week, and he was like, God, you know, dolphin fans have been through hell. But they really feel good about the direction they're going. And I do too. I think the arrow is firmly placed up.

This is one of the up and coming football teams. And it's going to show itself, probably not this year. It's probably more of a next year proposition. But the building has begun and the rebound of the dolphins has begun. And I think it's good for the NFL. If teams like the dolphins and Raiders, some of the iconic brands are kind of, you know, the fuses lit, get those things going a little bit. Yeah, the, the teal needs to have some say in this. And the problem with the dolphins for so long is that they kind of found themselves in San Francisco, Giant'sland, which is, oh, well, we were really successful this one time. So let's never be really, really bad. And then they just ended up getting kind of worse and kind of worse and the foundation just rotted away. And then they would go for get rich quick schemes. And that would fail. And it's been like this forever. It's been like this forever since Dan Burrino retired. It's been like this. And it's going to take a while.

Because they gutted that thing down to the studs. And there was not, you know, they're paying two of 50 million something dollars a year. I think they have more dead cap than they have actual cap this year. Like they took this thing down to the hundred and eighty three million of dead. Yeah, that's insane. Historic. It's the highest in the history of the league. The Niners had a hundred. Right. Like a 103 or something. Yeah, it's like, you know, like, it was absurd. And that was the reset year. They're doing nearly double. Right. They're taking it. They're going to take it on the chin. And it's going to be tough because this is probably ironically, you can look at it either way. You could say, oh, well, they'll get better as the season goes along. They'll also get more injured as the season goes along. And they're not playing with a full deck here. Dieter, they sat the rookies in the in training camp because they knew they wanted to start them. And they didn't want them to get hurt. So they didn't they sat their rookies. I mean, think about that. They're rookies need to play in the preseason to develop. But they sat them because they knew they were going to need to use them in the regular season. And the whole thing is preseason for them. Larry and listen, I'm not sold on all their picks.

I have some different opinions on some of the guys they drafted. It's not to say that they didn't take NFL caliber players. I just thought they were a little rich with Caleb Douglas who looked very serviceable for the dolphins in week one. Some questions about, you know, Rod Rieges and his value there. I love I love the Johnson pick. Regardless, they're bringing in good players. They're bringing in players that I think fit and identity that they're trying to create kind of a toughness real football guys sort of a thing. Add in a 27 draft that's loaded with talent. That might be where you get your quarterback. You might wait another year because you got Willis under contract for next year too. And now you continue to build this thing up. And eventually if they do what Green Bay has always done, which is scout and develop, they don't sign free agents in Green Bay all that often. I mean, Reggie White's one thing, but like getting guys to come to Green Bay and take the money is not terribly frequent. And if it is, it's Aaron Banks. And we're not talking about the big time guys scout and develop.

That's how Green Bay is always in the playoff mix. They're building a foundation with Miami. The problem is that they have to get to like two years down the road from now to when they'll have enough players to actually compete. And then it will come down to how many stars they have. They don't have enough players to compete right now. The Raiders looked like world beaters against them. And I don't think the Raiders are actually all that good. I like a lot. Now I'll say this. I think Raiders. Genties. He's lovely. He's a good player, but like their quarterback stinks. There's some real questions on that offensive line. They're defense. No receivers. No receivers. Their defense has some players now. And I do think that they're doing a nice job with the Raiders too of bringing guys who are just going to be around for a while, which is the whole ball game, right? You need some depth. You start with depth and then you try to find your stars as you go along, but you need to have that foundation to just be able to play a damn game. And if you're constantly shooting for stars and you swing and miss on them, because you're going to swing and miss far more often,

you're always trying to hit home runs. You're never going to score any runs because you don't get any guys on base. You never move anybody around the diamond. So terrible sports metaphor crossover, but you know what I'm trying to say. Like this is how rebuilding teams work. The Niners got lightning in a bottle in a lot of ways. Kyle shows up in 17 there in the Super Bowl at the end of 19, because they just had to take Kyle Murray and not Nick Bosa. But those first two years were about building that foundation up and just getting good football players in. And that's through the draft. That's through sharp free agency signings. That's through developing guys who kind of fell through the cracks and giving them the time to get better and giving them the attention to get better because you're not winning any damn games anyway. And they luck into Jimmy Garoppolo with the trade from the Patriots at the time to where they got competent quarterback play that elevated everybody because they just needed that desperately. The dolphins, it's not shocking to me at all that the dolphins are going to try to recreate what the Niners did because Jeff Hathley was there for those two years. And then when you see the fruits of that labor come through the year after you leave

and you go to Ohio State to become the defensive coordinator there, you go, oh, hell yeah, we built that. And I know exactly what it takes to get that foundation set from that point on. All bets are off. But I believe that he'll be able to get that team to the point where Dorks like me will be like, I think this might be the dolphins here. I feel like the dolphins are going to make it. But that's going to be 28 or 29 by the time we start saying that. Yeah, it's going to, it's a ways off. But, but you know, I like to recognize when teams have have halted the negative momentum and they have done that for sure. And this is the other thing with the dolphin real fast. Like when the reason that dolphins fans are embracing this is because there's a clear direction and they're not being sold to false bill of goods. And if someone who lived in Miami, let me tell you, everybody's got a scam. Everybody's got a scheme and they're going to sell you something and it turns out it doesn't exist. And the dolphins operated like that for a long time. No, no, no, this year we're actually good. Last year didn't work out, but this year we're actually good. No, no, no, two, it's going to, they just run through all of these schemes.

And now here's Jeff Haftley and they're bringing in a model and they're like, this is going to suck. They're like, oh, word about it. They're like, this is going to suck for a while, but it will be worth it in the long run. And dolphins fans, I know a ton of them still from my time down in Miami and from having covered the team. Like they're just like, thank God, someone's not trying to get one over us. I mean, they haven't had any consistent influx of talents since Jimmy. Right. They had Jimmy brought in Madison, Jimmy brought in Sir Tan, Jimmy brought in Zach Thomas, Jimmy brought in Bowens. Jimmy brought in all these guys Jason Taylor. He brought in all these great dolphins before that the dolphins were last good under Shula. Shula. So we're talking about the mid 80s and really where they were great was in the early 70s. We mercury moris and Nick Bonneconi and all those Bob Greasy. It's been a forever. It's been a long, long time for the dolphins. But Jimmy did no personnel and they got close and and now this guy knows personnel and they've turned the corner. And it's going to take them take a while.

Mike did as much as he possibly could. Mike McDaniel did as much as he possibly could. They went to the playoffs a couple times. They weren't built on speed. Right. It was kind of a scam. It was kind of a rich, rich, yeah. I mean, it's just it wasn't it wasn't it didn't have a strong base. This is a more of a stronger base. All right. Two last topics here. Give me a game ball for somebody we give me a game ball or two for somebody that we have not talked about yet. That really you're you know, it's like we're almost you know, deep into the stream. We're an hour or not quite an hour and a half in yet. But we're probably going to go for about an hour and a half. So who in the last 10 minutes of the stream you say, okay, you know what? Yeah, this guy, I got I'm talking up this guy and I got two that I'm thinking of both on defense. Okay, great. I'll give you two on offense then. Game ball the Debo Samuel. I thought he was an immense blocker in this game. Obviously gets the touchdown. It's he's not going to be the old Debo Samuel, but he's functional and he's still giving

it. He had that great kick return. He's finding ways to make an impact in the game. He's not a star anymore. He just isn't. He might have a moment or two this season where he turns back the clock and we have a Debo Samuel game. But this is what great players do. They find a way when they don't have what they used to have to still make an impact on winning. And Debo Samuel knows what Kyle Shanahan wants and executes what Kyle Shanahan wants. Even if he can't do it at the level to where Kyle Shanahan's like the entire offense is a Debo now that day is long and gone. But I've always appreciated like in the NBA guys who aren't as good as they once were, but then figure out I know how to play a role. I can be this secondary guy. I can be this number three guy. I can do things to help this team win. And that's what championship teams are made out of. Everyone understanding their role and that letting ego get in the way. It's a long way to go. But I think Debo Samuel showed me a lot in that first game to give me the indication that he is going to be an impact player for the 49ers in a different way than he was an

impact player before. But in still the same thing that matters, which is a winning way. And then the other guy, Kyle use check. We haven't talked about him enough. We mentioned him lightly when we I've been mowing the state of tight ends, but Kyle use check as the lead blocker as the defense carver upper what he's doing with dash motion. And what Kyle is able to create in terms of havoc for defenses to handle in terms of run fits and how you want to go about your run defense and past defense, too. They didn't even really have to tap into that at all. This is again, now foundational to what it is they do. And I think that it takes a load off of a lot of other guys. You see teams like the Rams in particular. They like to do that insert motion where you bring the wide receiver in towards the line and then they come in and they block the A gap or they block the B gap. Well they're doing the same thing, but they're doing it with a full back. So the wide receivers can still go out and not have to take on 300 pound lineman like

Puka Nakuwa does because he's a madman where they Cooper Cup did before him. Well, now you're doing it with Kyle use check who's a little bit better built for it, but it really did create a lot of havoc for the Rams in that game. And they knew it was coming and they really couldn't do anything to stop it. I think Kyle use check just makes this offense go right now. And it's not going to show up in a box score. And it's not going to be something that is going to be readily apparent until you get on the all 22 tape and get that end zone camera angle. But I thought that Kyle use check opened up some lanes with just his presence in the way that he ran it and Kyle coming up with new wrinkles to this dash motion thing. It's it was really awesome and fun to watch as a fan of football and a fan of innovation and a fan of in particular like triple option offenses service academy stuff. I'm really into that. It also makes me like really nervous because I think that they handed over all of the past codes to one guy and that one guy cannot go out of the game like he needs to be in there. They kind of offloaded a lot of the really kind of heavy lifting mental stuff to

ostensibly the smartest guy on the team. He went to Harvard. I'm not sure if that means anything, but like I went to Missouri shows what we all know. But like they offloaded a lot of it to it. He executes it so well. He sells it so well. Man, it's really fun and exciting. I'd love to see more wrinkles also be really nice if there was somebody else on the team who could just step in and do it at half of the rate he could do it so that I could feel like this is now something that is. They were 60 found. They were 65% motion. The last year they averaged over six yards of play when they use pre snap motion and Kyle busted all out. I mean, you see it all. I mean, you know, you may not see it all in every game, but I mean, jet motion. He does it orbit motion. He does it. You know, get ready to see some orbit motion this week from the dolphins by the way. They I don't know why they can run it. They don't have the dudes to run it. They run a crazy gap stuff and orbit motions and it's like buddy. I guess you got to rip it now so that you can run it two years from now. But Kyle runs the short motion.

The kind of the I think you kind of described earlier, the reload motion where the, you know, the running back starts out outside split wide and then resets in the back field. We've seen that. We've seen double motion. We've seen bounce motion at the snap. There's just they're they're very creative with it and they do have the chest piece that allows them to play. And maybe and maybe they've got more guys like that in the future. We'll see. I hope so. I'm going to go. I'm going to share the screen. I'm going to go with Grayson Hall. Look at this. Look at this play. Now, this is not the goal line stand, but here he is 93. Now, this is a guy who's really a pass rusher. Right. You got to remember, he's the greatest thing is that he's a pass rusher. He's a wiggle boy. But look at him. Look at him. Stay square. You know, bow his back. Stay square. Take on the combo. Throw away the center and be in great position. Boom. There we go. You know who he reminds me. He's what I'm looking to be open this game.

Who's that? Uh, what was his name? It was DJ Jones. DJ Jones. Yeah. I mean, he's really quick. He's probably quicker and DJ might not be quite as strong. But I talk about that line though. Grayson loves to play. Yeah. He's a play kid too. He is a kid, but he's fun and he's and he's really good. So that's one. I'd give him a game ball. He's encouraging, especially considering how bad all the other defensive tackles were outside of a Diggas, you know, he was really good. That's a big concern for this team. They didn't have anybody who could hold up at one tech except for maybe Haltin and he's a three. The other one is Marquis Segal. Got him. I had him written down. I was hoping. Marquis Segal. I got two angles. I want to show you on Marquis Segal. Here's the close up for those of you who like the blow up and I talked to him. I said, Hey, man, you're blowing people up this year. Yep. And he's like, you're going to see more of it against Miami. I believe it. That's what he said. Here he is. I love Marquis system, man. I really enjoy him. Here is. Look at this hit.

Boom. Oh, that's a hard hit, dude. Yeah. That's a hard hit. Yeah, that's a love bar buster. Yeah. I mean, oh, God, that doesn't feel good. You're back. It has no idea what hemispheres. And that is a hard hit. OK, so that's the first one I want to tell you that football is getting saw. Anyone who says that crap, you don't know, man, they might be lighter, but boy, they hit hard. OK, here's the better one. Look at this. Look at the pursuit on this. And this is seeing it. So now you've seen the thunder. Now you're going to see the range. Oh, yeah. Look at the range on this guy. It's going to be unbelievable. He's going to shoot out and make the tackle on the running back from my belief right here. I think that's him. Let me see. Yeah, there he is right there. Deep metal. Look how deep he is. Watch this attack. Damn. Dude, that's it. That is range. Jake, Jake and I talked about this on the podcast. This is a better angle. Look at this. He sees it. You can see he sees it. No, this is wait. He this guy is in his playbook. He's already moving towards the chords where he's going.

You know, pre snap whip. He's smart as a whip. That's the difference. Look at that. Look at that, though. I love that angle. That's an aggressive angle. But you know what? He that's also like, hey, man, I'm playing for keeps here. He's drifting towards his where he's going to shoot and then also he shoots the lane. Perfect. Teach tape. Detonates solo on the ground. Yeah. It's a good one right there. That's a good one. So you in two plays you saw the hitting in the range. This guy's got four three speed. I said, hey, man, I thought you you're like a corner with four three speed. I'm not expecting you to detonate on everybody. And he's like, hey, man, that's my game. We had a big smile on his face. And he's like, you're going to see more of it against Miami. And you can just tell this is a guy that we've been talking about Brown. We've been talking about Mustafa. This is this is one of their starting safeties right here. There's no question. Seagull is really. It's very validating is the starters of the marquee. Seagull hide over on sickos. Football and the leader in Huck's show.

Brown did not have a good game against the Rams. It was kind of even rougher on all 22. Seagull had immense game. And now that they're no longer nine tackles five assists targeted zero times 80.2 defensive rating. I can go on a bunch of that. I know who gave that rating. So we'll be a little bit careful about that. But here here's something that I consistently come back to when it comes to teams that play two high safeties, and especially as it comes to against the run. They're asking Seagull and Brown to crash, right? Recognize an attack straight line. Hit the hell out of that dude. The only other time that you have that much run up to go hit somebody is on special teams. And Jake and I since the second they drafted this kid out of Kansas state and we were really in on it said if nothing else, this kid is going to be an exceptional special teamer. And they used him as a special teamer last year. And he was legitimately awesome at that because it is recognized where the ball is going.

Beat that man to the spot deliver a blow. Ironically or perhaps coincidentally in this case, Jaya Brown's not a good special teams player. So when you have both of these guys and you're asking them to get 15 yard running head starts to go hit somebody that's carrying the football. Is it a shock that the guy who's really good at special teams in Marquis Seagull can do it, but the guy who isn't good on special teams in Jaya Brown can't and now that they're playing too high, now there's less for Seagull to have to cover. And frankly, I know that he can do it. He's physically talented enough to do it. He just overanalyzes a lot in past protect or in past coverage. And he would get himself kind of tied up in knots. I think having split field safeties has now given him a much cleaner picture to look at. As you know, paralysis by analysis, more going out there and hitting, I think Marquis Seagull has a chance to be not just like useful and a special player for this team.

And I think he's going to have an immense game, an immense game against the dolphins because everything lines up for him to have 12 tackles and a pick and a couple tackles for loss. I mean, everything lines up for this game for him because he was great against the Rams and the dolphins won't know what to do with him. He's awesome. It's very validating to watch a lot of the stuff that we were saying right around draft time coming into fruition in a big way. And again, another point for Raheem Morris, he never wavered off of Marquis Seagull for a second. He got him in there and he's like, that's my guy. I'm going with Seagull. And I think it's going to pay off in a huge way. Now the other safety position, I don't know. We'll find out. Yeah, I mean, there's no question that they've got talent there. If the matter is, which of these guys is going to come really bubble up and be good. All right, we have some supers, but let's finish with the big trifecta.

We'll finish with three questions. Okay. 49ers lose Dayjohn's dribbling for 10 weeks. Could be December before he's back. So his rookie year very much washed away. It's very sad because he had a great camp and he looked like not just a good young player, but a player that was ready to contribute. So that one really hurts. Niners do have some options internally. There's one external option that's pretty interesting. It's Darius Slayton. And Darius Slayton was with the Giants a few weeks ago. He got cut at the cut down. He got hurt in the, he got hurt in the OTAs and our missed OTAs and he got hurt. So he never never got a chance to do the OTAs and he had surgery. I think it was core surgery. So he missed the OTAs. And now he's, they cut him. He had seven seasons in New York. He's 29. He was slated to make $13 million. He was year two of a three year deal.

He's got some money out of it. He was a fifth round pick in 2019. He had a down year last year, but he has four 700 yard seasons, average over 15 yards per reception in his career. As I said, subpar 2025, but he's a 439 speed guy. He's been a former team captain. The Giants saved $9.7 million and basically cut him loose. He said in an interview, hey, I got to be really careful about whatever my next spot is because I don't want to just go to a bad team. I want to go to a good team. I want to win. I want to have somewhere where I can fit in. He is big with 4.3 speed and he's available and he probably won't cost you much either money wise. It's not going to cost you anything draft pick wise. Would you rather go with your internal options or would you rather give Darius slatiness, you know, a sign him to a contract and try to reclaim what he's got? Those are my only two options. Yeah. Basically, you can go internally with what you have or you can take a shot at Darius

Slatiness. I would go internally. I don't. Darius Slatiness doesn't block. Just look at the Giants wide receiver room. They kept Odell Beckham Jr. who's been out of the league for like 18 months. They kept him around. They kept their playing Malachi fields like every snap as a sacrificial X. They're rushing back. Forgive me. I forget his name. The wonderful receiver out of LSU that they have. They're rushing neighbors. They're rushing him back from injury because they don't have enough receivers and they're still like there is slating the hell up out of here. Like that's a pretty good tell that you don't want to camp block. Doesn't have any wiggle. Just there's there's nothing there. He doesn't fit the Shanahan system at all. Wouldn't shock me to see him like a lot. You know, land in Tennessee with Dable and that tire fire. They got going on down there in Nashville. Like he'll get a job. I just can't imagine that Kyle's going to watch any of this tape. Make any of you know, make any of these calls and be like, oh yeah, Darius Slate and that's the guy we need on our team because he ain't going to play either for a while.

Like this is a break class in case of emergency. I would much rather have Greg Dorch who had a great kick return at a great game today for the bills. He's a practice squad guy. You can poach him. You can poach him right now. I mean, we'll play Sunday. You can poach him right now. They should have poached him the second they got cut. You could go out there and you know, Hodge got called. I like Hodge. You know, Van Jefferson. Van Jefferson is not sexy. He's more of the, you know, the conley mold of receivers that Chris Conley molded receivers. But like Van Jefferson's a pro pro comes from the same system. I can rather invest in it. If they're going to go with another receiver, I'd rather invest in not Dylan Bell, you know, off Minnesota's practice squad or somebody like that. 100%. Just get to go find somebody that you think you want to invest some time in that you think has got some potential. But that's what I would I wouldn't mess with Darius Slate. But if I code you white on the Raiders practice squad too, yeah, he's in there. There are interesting names around there around around the league. I think I think it receiver. There's so many. I mean, Kelly Turner. I don't believe has a team currently. We turners good.

Like I don't get a good camp for the Niners. Get a good camp. But like you got Kurt coming. You've got grimes on the practice squad. You got you do us some internal options. I wouldn't I wouldn't lunge at Slate and even though I do. I could see your man Terrence Marshall. Final one. Vert him to tight end like yes. I like Terrence, but you know what? You know what? I was born available. They they they're better options out there right now. I think they need to be good. We feel good. Turner is good. Trent Irwin would not be bad. He catches the ball. All right. Question number two. Jeremy Fowler ESPN keeps linking the Niners to to Joey Porter, Jr. I in the past I would have said no way. But now you get Raheem Morris here. And Raheem Morris sees this defense from back to front. And this is a big corner who can shut down big receivers. And yes, he wants a new contract for $30 million. But you're also talking about a guy who completes off the edge and recover in those three by one sets. He can play the zero coverage on the single receiver side and take guys away.

I think he's big enough to hang with Puka or any of the big receivers. There's lots of prolific big receivers now in the NFL. Everybody's passing everywhere. I like Joey Porter, Jr. And I, you know, I was talking to John Lund about it. He's like, well, I don't want to trade the number one. I'm like, oh, no, I don't want to trade number one either for a corner unless you're the Colts and our idiots. Right. But like the price was a two and a four. And I was saying, well, hey, you know what? I'd be willing to move a guy like Priceock and a two and a four or maybe price to jump the line or maybe like Priceock. Maybe you maybe move a two and a five. I don't know. But that to me is the guy that I think would be intriguing because when you have great corners, you can do so much. And you already saw Raheem scheme up the front. And I don't like all this talk about, well, they need to go, you know, the natural counter from Niner fans is, no, that's not good. They need to go spend their money on a defensive lineman. But you know what? There are no defensive lineman.

Max Crosby is not coming to the Niners. And then if I tell you that Max Crosby's not coming to the Niners, who do you? Who's next? And who was going to be guys, but they're not. There are guys, but they're not. I'm just saying there's no, there's no super guy out there. And and I think, you know, this is a, this is a 34 inch arm corner. And Raheem was the guy that I think brought a Ramsey to LA. So we know he likes the big dominant corner. I mentioned this to Greg Cosell the other day and he said that he thinks he would be a great fit on the 49ers. He's a second generation football player that he's very serious about football. He's very physical. He's got a swagger. I just think that if the Raheem wasn't here, no shot. But now that Raheem's here and he's got some cloud and he's looking at this thing and he just schemeed up the front. Yeah. I could see them saying, you know what? The value and having corner depth and corner talent is big, especially in this league at this point in history.

Let's go out. Let's go after Porter and look at the, look at week one, all the passing a two or four price, stock for Porter. Would you do it? What year are those? They're, they're this year. Yeah, I'm not touching anything in this year's draft. I'm not. I don't want to give up 27 draft capital, but they don't need a quarterback. No, they don't need, no, they don't need a quarterback and quarter. It's a court. I know, I know. Well, I don't know if they need a corner either, but I would like to bring in this player. So it's the double whammy of you got to pay him. You got to pay him. He's not coming unless you pay him. They're not going to make the trade unless you're going to get a pay him. So you got to pay him, which okay. I'm fine with that. But who are they paying on D? Bossa Warner or the nor they're not paying very many guys. Kind of a couple guys. But I'm in the same. There's like most teams are paying five or six guys on offense and defense. They're paying three guys on on defense. Well, they're paying a lot of guys on offense, but like it is, it is, it's fine with me. Pay him. He's worth that money. I can't get double taxed with.

I got to give the guy the contract. That's fine. But I also got to give up this draft capital. I'm telling you, Larry, this last draft might have been like 45 players deep. I'm at like a buck 95 right now. And I think that there's a, I think that there's at least a hundred players better in this draft than there were in this past draft. This is the question though is do the 49ers have the drafting acumen to identify them? So goddamn good of a draft that even the 49ers can't mess it up. Larry, that's where I'm at. Like it's so, it's so easy. You can't, but it's not until next year. It's not next year. You may not have Kittle. You may not have Bossa. You may not have trained. You may not have seem. So again, if we want to talk and this is the thing, if you want to say, hey, we'll give you, we'll give you a second. That ring. We'll get you a second rounder in 28 and we'll get you, you know, a third rounder, maybe a third rounder in 27. Now we're talking, right? But I'm only giving up one pick and I'm trying to keep that as low as possible for the 27 draft.

That's where I'm at. I think that's fair. Because I mean, if you guys are, if he was already on a contract and you were just getting like the last two years of the contract. So you had a little bit of wiggle room, right? Like you got a little bit of team control. That's one thing. But now you're going into a negotiation where you got to give up the best draft capital I've seen in the decade. And you have to pay this guy in a marketplace of one, which is a man, you better pay me exactly what I want. Or otherwise, I'm not coming. Like that's just, that's a lot to chew for a player who is not at an obvious position of need. Though he would unquestionably be an impact player that could do some wonderful things for him. I won't pan it if it happens, but boy, they better be careful because it's a lot, lot, lot to pay for Joey Porter, Jr. Look at the, look at the Rams. The Rams just paid huge amount of money for Trent McDuffy. He's a man corner. They play 80% zone. Well, they didn't that game. But I mean, I will see what they play. But I mean, that doesn't look like a fit. This to me looks like a hand to glove fit.

This is exactly the kind of corner life. What's that? You move. Well, here's what it would happen. I do you move Ronaldo green out and then or do you move? Diomedor Lennore inside is the guy. I moved the Amdor Lennore inside. Yeah, I would, I would play a shit ton of dime and have a Diomedor Lennore inside and then bring in up and stout on third downs and second and long. I'm all in on. But I mean, this is super fun. But Deeter, this is also the direction of the league. Every, but they're playing. So, but the leagues playing 80% sub package, the Niners played 80% sub package. We always talk about who the starters and an extra corner like this would start. I mean, you can still figure out a way to start him. The other thing too is now you can get into more. It's interesting with two. You said you didn't like green law green law coming off the field and the dime. We put this. You're doing with someone who's out you preaching to the choir here. Joey Porter would be awesome. It's just not something that you, it is a force multiplier, but it's not some, it is, you're blowing

your wad on something that you might not need. It's more like something you want. Yeah. Some people have suggested elective surgery type situation, but you know what? It is a different way of looking at things. The Niners have looked at things from the front to the back. This is a look from the back to the front. I do think Reheems like the guy and I would defer to him, but I would love to know if Reheem would be into this or not. Uh, the other aspect of this too is you need to keep your powder dry here for a little bit because you might really need to trade for a tight end and you might really need to trade for a defensive end. Not of a max crossbale, it was just like a good one. You might really need to trade for a wide receiver. If Mike Evans' hamstrings do what they've done the last six years, which is tightened up on them in the season, like you might need to make moves to just get to a point of competency at a couple of positions. No, I hear it's hard for me. And an early deal is always a risk because you're, you're, you're moving some capital. But also, um, you know, this is a difference making kind of a player in my opinion.

And I'd like to see you. You just want to talk 28 draft and set a 27 draft. I think that's all in. All right. Christopher Knox. I think it was Bleacher report. It might have been Fox. I forget who Christopher Knox writes for. I think it's Bleacher report. Okay. He is reporting on their site that a trade market may be brewing for Brandon. I'm skeptical. But this is what he says. He says a trade market in Baltimore. Jacobi Lane is out with a wrist injury and New England, where A. G. Brown's out with a high ankle sprain for a conditional seventh round pick for Brandon. I you I you because not played since the knee injury against Kansas City. That was October of 2024. He's 28. His contract is obviously by anybody's estimation will need to be reworked. I think that's a no brainer. He currently is on the San Francisco reserve and FI list non football injury. Um, and I are on the reserve.

He's on the reserve list. I should say not non football injuries on the reserve list. Um, he's not getting paid. He did top 1300 plus yards. Last time he was a healthy receiver. So there you go. I you I'll just throw it to you this way. That's the latest on I you. Is your if you had to put everything down again. If you had to put everything you own on I you plays a down again or doesn't play it down again. What side of you on on that? And then I play it down again. He will. No. Okay, he won't. Okay, you won't. So then I was going to say we'll never play in the NFL again. I've been saying this for six months. I'm wow. I'm scared. So you're never. Any not only not just not this year. Just never he will never play in the NFL again. There are. Wow. I I am not. I'm with you on this one. But I but I just for nox is pulling shit out of his ass.

I can't say what I do. McDonald's is putting value back on the menu. Whether you're craving a big Mac McNuggets or sausage egg and cheese McGrittle's make it a meal and save. See terms. OK. All right. Let's finish with this. McKinley Jackson, something or nothing. Did you go to practice today? No, I had two sick children so I couldn't go. Have you seen him practice yet? You were there yesterday, weren't you? This is the defensive tackle. Yeah, from A&M. I have not seen him practice yet. OK, so you need all I needed to hear was he went to A&M and now Larry's all in. Well, he's a two time captain of the day and I'm so I'm a big. I'm a big galco name of the captain. It's a big difference. Well, they both was in a Jimbo captain because a Jimbo captain. He wasn't he wasn't Jimbo captain. Jim Jimbo disorganized Jimbo. He was a Jimbo captain by alphabetical order on this guy. This guy's interesting because all these guys are different. All the your these interior defensive tackles are different. Yeah. The guy that we were talking about last week, Tim Keenan, who got cut by whoever he got cut by was with the Rams. Yeah. He's six feet, 300 pounds or three six, one, three, 30.

Doubly. And and and so's this guy. So so's McKinley Jackson. They're really the same dimensions except Keenan's got like 31 and a half inch arms and McKinley Jackson's got 34 inch arms. It matters. So and and watching McKinley Jackson today, he does have he is thick and you know bulky, but he does move explosively and he does have really long arms. It's a it's an intriguing skill set that he possesses for sure. I'm going to go on to something. I think this guy might be something. You know, it's funny. John Lynch was talking about for Collins today on KMBR. Oh Alfred is, you know, such a special player and that's not I'm like, I'm not seeing it. I'm not seeing that. I mean, he may be he, you know, this is his draft pick in the second round. Uh, but he, I mean, maybe John would claim that Alfred struggles this year all about the injuries. Maybe that's the case. This is the same thing they said last year.

I don't see the special I don't see the specialness there. But I will say this. This guy has a lot of the traits that you're looking for as far as he runs stuff for his six one three 30 34 inch arms. Very powerful, very explosive. Well, I'll tell you this. It's interesting to see what he looks like in a game. If my god damn snot knows children, uh, didn't interrupt all of my plans today and forced me to work until four o'clock in the morning yesterday to get my work done, I would have looked up McKinley Jackson and I would have asked one question upon pulling up the film in McKinley Jackson. How does he do against duo blocks? Because the 49ers don't have anyone safe for perhaps Grayson Holton who I think overperformed and we'll see. Hopefully, that's the new norm because that would be a real revelation for them in a lot of ways. But not a one of them could hold up against the duo blocks of the Rams. I mean, Kyron Williams would still be running if not for the end zone. And if McKinley Jackson, who just by your description, sure sounds like somebody who is going

to be difficult to uproot can just hold up against the duo block. That is the signing of the off season because they don't have one of them. If I had a bar, man, I have McKinley Jackson working the door. I mean, he's just the guy who just looks like you can throw people around. I mean, CJ West, I really liked what CJ West did at the end of last year. He is not a projection. He was someone who actually put it on the field. CJ West was halfway to Brisbane on half of those duo blocks in week one. Yeah, I mean, he, you know, the, the final season too. Yeah, I know the functional strength of Collins and West, where it's gone is just baffling to me. And I don't know neither showed any this summer. Not one. Collins doesn't have the upper body strength to actually hold up and his legs are never in time. And then West, how do I put this, kindly? I think that it was by directive that West got bigger, like put on more weight, which

I was amazed that you could do that. It's kind of bad weight. It looks like bad weight, but they were going to a two zero technical one technique. And I think they said you need to bulk up even more to be kind of more like a T. A. tart type, right? And I don't think it served him well at all. He played a lot of three tech last year. And now you're moving them to true nose. I don't think he's built for it. I think he delivers strong hands. He discards guys, but he needs some space to work. And now he is in the middle of it and he is just going backwards. James Thompson was ineffective, though not terrible in his first game, but he can't count on the undrafted rookie free agent who isn't even what is he? 305 310. He's a great kid, man. I talked to this one in the locker room. Great kid. Go check out my interview with him on YouTube. He's a really, really good kid. I like his talent too. And I think he'll get better. He's like a fun little man, but he's he's got a lot of a lot of ability. I love it, but they he couldn't do it. And then sure on it, I mean, the only guy who was holding up was Grayson Holtin.

That was just because he kept his pad level low. And that's not going to play. You're going to need to have a little bit more than that. It's great. That's a start, but like you're going to have a need a little bit more than that. So yeah, McKinley Jackson, come on down. I mean, I'll take anybody at this point. Yeah, they have a need. They have a need for sure. All right, a couple quick mentions. We're brought to you by Nevada Chevrolet. You see this girl on the bottom of the screen. Go see Adam Rogers. to them for being a proud sponsor of the crew show. All right. Let's hit some supers and we'll bolt from the door. We got this one from Tristan. Tristan underscore 547 became a YouTube member. Way to go Tristan. Appreciate you, brother. Bert to P420. It's Bert up 420. I wonder what he likes to do in his spare time. Bert up 420. He's twisting one as we speak. That's why he only had 99 cents to throw in there. JC NY 49er. 19 and 57 are so badass. That being Debo and Greenlaw, their presence was noticed. Good Niners for sure. I'm glad they're back. We have this one from the date. Finally, 10 jewels. What would we do with our jewels, Larry? Dave Giger or is that the grave digger? I think it's the grave digger, but in a reverse. There you go. 10 jewels. 10 jewels. What does that get us Larry? What do you get? It's. It's kind of I feel like I feel like we're having lunch at like Chuck E. Cheese and we're

going to trade all these jewels in at the end. I think it's do we have. Can I get that stuff to animal? I have a I have I have enough tickets to stretch from here to the California Arizona border. Watch that worth. Oh, you can get a you can get a you know, a stuffed animal and a purple hat and I'll tell you Larry, I married super ball. So many ways. My wife is an absolute ringer at every carnival game. She has no hand-eye coordination whatsoever. I toss her the remote. It hits her right in the face. I got to talk to you know, she's making the she's making the free throw that even Steph Curry can't make. Actually, that's my game. I'm really good at pop a shot. But I haven't. That she's the only person that I've ever seen go like 80% on the claw machine. She's a ringer. She's a ringer and every time we go, we legitimately run into problems. So like there's this. We go to Vegas or something like, you know, hey, let's go to an arcade because you know, who doesn't like winning and she only wins. It's unbelievable. I've never seen anything like it.

And and I'm just getting as the kids would say, mauged by this tiny little woman and it's just it's really wild. And so we always leave with just all of this stuff. And it's like, well, we're not getting on a plane with this huge teddy bear. And our kids already have like five of them. And so it's like, what? So then you have to find children in Las Vegas to like give stuff to and it turns into a real issue. You're it, but we're always finding an arcade and all this stuff because she just loves it. I've never seen anything like it. I think she got banned from the David Busters and Van Nies. Buddy, my I have a family member who runs one in in Reno. Okay, so you need to give me that because we're going to clean his ass out. Yeah, that's all we need. It's unbelievable the amount of absolutely crap that I have a buddy. I have a buddy who went we went to Cal Expo one summer and my buddy is like, I used to work at Cal Expo in the in the so so he worked in the game where you try to throw softball

balls into a bucket yet space sideways. And so he's like, dude, I can tell you exactly how to do this. And I go, dude, why don't you just do it? And he's like, you know, he's like, oh, no, no, no, you know, I'm going to get in trouble. I'm like, nobody's going to recognize you as the former carnival worker. I'm sorry. They're forced. One he worked in the stand here. I'm pretty sure he's not going to notice. Yeah, come on. And sure enough, he goes in there. And basically, you know, they have you throw it and it's like a it's there's three options right because you three people can do it at a time. And everybody always lines up in front of the bucket they want to shoot at. And he's like, that's not the way you should do it. You should line up to the side of the bucket that you want to shoot at and hit aim for the side and try to roll it around the side. And don't hit the middle. The middle is a rock and is going to shoot it back out. Right. And this guy proceeded to go hit the side like 12 out of 12 times.

And he got small gift, small gifts and then traded it in for the gigantic. Yeah. Teddy bear, you know, it's like unbelievable. You see the amount of humongous teddy bear. We don't have enough room. We have to move because we have so many humongous teddy bears. We were coming back. We just we just have to hand stuff to children because it's like it's ridiculous. I don't think they let us go to sub or a subpar in Alameda anymore and get stuff. We can't redeem it anymore because I'm a ringer for the free round at the end of it with the long putt. And I've done that every time I've ever been there. And now I got like 14 free rounds. And my wife cleans them out in the arcade. And I think that they have our sign behind it. It's like do not sell these people anything. That's a picture of Deeter and his wife on the counter. Bonnie and Clyde, but for our cave, San Fran traders, his Larry thoughts on Wake Forest plus 21 and a half Eagles minus seven jets plus three and a half. Love your takes. I love the jets. Isn't it jets against Green Bay? The jets are the underrated team in the NFL. They've got really good, really good personnel growing up on both sides of the ball.

Sure. I think that there's some foundational stuff there. Mambu, Foshanu, good running back, Scarrett Wilson, multiple tight ends. I can't wait until they have a new coach in a new quarterback. I kind of like the jets as far as the Eagles. I don't love the Eagles. I like the Eagles on the money line, but I don't like Eagles with points, not in this game. Wake, who's Wake God? That would be the University of Miami, baby. No, no, I'm taking I'm taking Darian Mensa and giving the two. You mean Deeter's Heisman candidate? Then he gets plus 1400. I love Darian Mensa. He was great with Duke last year. I went to Duke Cal. He's he's he is the quarterback. I kind of believe in, you know, more so than any of those guys. I don't I don't believe in the kid from South Carolina. I don't believe in several. I don't believe in Julian Saiyan. I don't believe in a lot of those guys. Larry, I like this guy. I watch Mario Taylor at Mississippi State yet.

No, no, watch watch a Mississippi State game. I'm very nervous about that. I watch them a lot actually. Really? Yeah, very nervous about that. I think Taylor is appreciate tomorrow. Taylor, who do you like this week at LSU Ole Miss? I just finished reading John Talthy's wonderful book, Lane Being Lane. I can't root for him. So I guess go Rebs. I do think LSU will win that game. I think there's way more talent. I think Pete Golding's probably in over his head here. I think Trinidad's a real winner and Lacey is fantastic, but they don't have the defensive personnel to match up. And LSU has kind of been dicking around here. I didn't like the way they handled last week in the first half, but when they turned it on, they turned it on. And their defense is insane. It is everybody has just gangly arms and you got weeks in the middle. It's just they got some absolute dudes on that LSU defense. Blake Baker, former Mizzou defensive coordinator, spurned us to go to LSU.

That's a coaching staff full of men who spurned others. He's really good though. He's really good though. I take LSU all day every day, but I will not be rooting for it. This is my college football parlay, Moneyline parlay this weekend. These teams are all going to win. Miami's going to win, Bama's going to win, A&M's going to win, Duke's going to win, BYU's going to win, UCLA's going to win, LSU's going to win, Texas, Texas, going to win. You're really going out on a limb picking Duke over Stanford there. Well, you got no, no, I'd rather go to grammar school football. No, I get out of the farm. To me, some of these early season Moneyline parlay on some of the in between games is just like easy pickings. Now you're not going to make a lot, right? Yeah, I'm just a huge fan of barrels. You bet 100, you're going to win 350 off of a big huge one. You know, with eight teams there. There's just way too much volatility there. We know about college football. It's like, man, you get one injury.

It's pretty predictable though. All right, a couple more here. That's how I see that. Law of all Seagull is bad ass. Yes, I agree with that. Michael says, McVase and the Rams never playing in Australia again. I'm sure Stan Kronke, who has the marketing rights to Australia loves that. Yeah, loves that. I mean, go everybody. I mean, there's an organization that's really got their stuff together. I know, I think it's really good when the president of the team is tweeting a Dave Lombardi about this like, dude, project just a little bit more. I know. Chad Henderson said, hey, 750 jewels football. Finally, Brad Jones, who's the under the radar trade target for defensive tackle to help with the run like he on white trade last year? You might not need one with McKinley Jackson. I don't know about that. I would say I like the idea of picking off either Eric Gregory from the Patriots or Devon Eastern from the Seahawks.

I like the idea of finding a zero technique, one technique of gigantic nose guard on somebody's practice squad. That's what I'm looking for. And there's defensive tackles that have movement ability, but you really are looking for that. I like McKinley Jackson. I, you know, let's see what he does first, but, you know, they're definitely our guys out there. And there's a bunch of them and we'll do a, we'll do a whole breakdown. But I don't want to throw out names right now. You already know the name. You have seen this man play. It's time for Malik Collins to come home. Oh, how'd he get? He looked really good this summer at the Browns. Brad Jones in the house said, also, Barrios mentioned the Niners have been in contact with Gross Motto's thinking he might sign after the buy thoughts. Well, he was one of the highest created rated 49ers last year when he played. He's had a hard time in his career staying healthy. His story is really tragic.

His brother died being struck by lightning. And I had a chance to talk to you to your last year. He's a really good kid. And he's got a lot of talent. Long arms, really the physical prototype. Oh, he was going to love him. Just a matter of, is he healthy? You know, if he's healthy, I'm interested. Yeah, I would keep him on speed. You're definitely going to need defensive line depth. He knows, well, I don't know if the system's the same, but he knows what it's like to be a 49er and what it is that the coach is asked of you, even if he's never worked for him or before. He's worked for Chris Kiseric before. I think that would be a nice midseason edition. It is so long as you're not putting a lot on his plate and just using him as a rotation guy because that's when he was best for the night. Good call. Stephanie Niners' Will Michele Williams be an obvious improvement from Keon. Well, the beauty of Michele is that you're going to have them both. I mean, Keon is very, I think the Keon trade might be one of Lynch's best. I mean, Keon is very athletic. He can play inside. He can play outside. He can play.

He's a really great option if you want to play a lot of twists and stunts up front because you can start him outside and move him inside. You can start him inside. Move him outside. He's got strength. He's got power. He's got speed. He's got a dominating athlete, which is why he went in the second round of the draft. He's 6-5, 2-85 and athletic is all get out. I think he's on the verge of a breakout. But I love the idea of Michele and him together on some monster line. Michele is a lot of men. If Michele comes back and he is, makes that big jump, Deeter, from Year 1 to Year 2. he stays healthy. That could be enough to vault the 49er defense into the stratosphere of their super bowl favorite in the NFC. He's that talented, but he's going to have to make a significant step forward while staying healthy. If he comes in, stays healthy and takes that normal step that he first year players typically do from year one to year two,

he could be one among their best players. He's got that kind of talent and that he could single handedly kind of lift them up and vault them into a special category. So I'm actually hoping that you know, some of these kind of physical freaks that they've got. Michele's kind of one, Keon's one, McKinley Jackson to some degree is one as far as strength. I can't believe Jackson is just. He was a third round. I rocketing off the deaf chart in the last 10 minutes. I love his practice today. I mean, he's got to see 10 minutes. No, but as far as you're talking about movement ability at six one three, three, three, four, he was also available off the street. I mean, I'm really good. Bengals upgraded defensive line. It's great. It is what we can say. I'm not sure really good is there yet. It's better. It's better. Listen, there weren't a lot of roster spots there. I don't disagree. I don't disagree. I said this. I don't think I do the against the dolphins and we'll find out. We'll see. We'll see what this I'll say this about about McKinley Jackson. He's not going to get washed out in some double team. He's really. Do not make promises. You cannot keep

Larry. I really think he's not going to I sure hopes I hope you're right. He's so really going to watch afterwards. This guy is very, very strong, very strong. I would also like to note that I have a very soft spot in my heart for a go across the line five technique strong side defensive end. And I'm going to do it. I key on white was a great pick up last year. And everyone belly ached and bitched in moan that they didn't go out and get a true pass rusher. And I go, this guy's a good football player and he's going to help your team. And now everyone's coming around on key on white. And in the same vein, everyone's going to be coming around on my kel Williams soon enough. Yeah, I might I might overlook some stuff because I love guys who can play that position. Well, go down the line of nine or fast and pretty good ones. And they've had some really bad ones. But man, Mike hell, Keon, let's let's boogie man. That's my kind of football player. And those are the kind of football players that I don't know. They seem to hoard up in Seattle. Everyone

bitches and wines and complaints. Oh, how come we can't beat the Seahawks? Why don't you try to match the Seahawks? Seahawks have an elite pass rusher? No, I think God is a bunch of dudes who can play anywhere and do anything on their line. And they push the pocket every snap. Cool. You got this speed guy. What happens when you actually have to stop the run? It's nice to have a Nick Bosa. But then you can also have a Bryce Huff. You know, you can also have a we'll find out Rumella height. But it's right. Oh, heights just a situational player. And you're rotating four guys or five guys on that line who are strong and can run stunts because they're smart and they're coordinated. And you can create pressure with scheme. But you always have push because you have strength. That's my kind of defensive line. And it looks like the Niners have a chance to build it this year. And I'm all in on it. There was a drill the other day at camp where they were before they left for Australia where they were, you know, Chris was like fire those hands. Fire those hands. And man, there were some, there were some heavy handed defensive linemen on that in that Niner room. I mean, they do have some. Everyone pretty much but out for Collins. Right.

Pretty much. Claudette. He arcades in the house. He says arcades. Now you're all speaking my language. Coming for you. Claudette. He arcades. He's a great sponsor of the crew show. Check out Claudette. He arcades. He's got an arcade arcade business up and down the state of California. And he does very, very well. We're very happy to be associated with Rob, the owner of Claudette. He's coming for you. Rob Dave. And Buster might say no, but Rob. Don't mess with Rob. We got this one. Stefan Niners. You should start a second Jets channel. Thank you. I'm sure I'm sure in the New York market, there's no saturation of Jets content. I'm sure you might be the only rational mark content. And I'm actually, you know what? As somebody who isn't a fan of the team who just covers the team and I try to do it from a journalistic perspective, of course, that is an opinionated journalist, which is a very difficult. We're blurr in lines left, right in center in this new media landscape. I do have a do find it a little unsettling that there's a bunch of people who do like

multiple different teams channels. And I appreciate it, man. You got to get paid. How you got to get paid. But like the whole like I'm a fan. I'm doing fan content for multiple teams. Just feels oxy moronic to me. Yeah. Yeah. Well, that's Chase senior actually. He's a big Eagles and Niners guy. I wasn't going to name him. But yeah. Yeah. How does that fucking work? Well, I mean, I don't know. It doesn't matter. He's working for chat sports. It's a bigger thing. Yes. We've this one from Eagles and the Niners at least do at least. I'll say if I was doing the Jets, you know, you know, this is, this is Larry, Larry Salami here covering the Jets. So I'm brought to you by more to Dela. You know, okay, I'm brought to you by more to Dela. What was we was a Larry had more to Dela, by the way. Yeah. Of course I have. I'm fat guy. I've had more to Dela. But it's like a, it's like baloney with all of them. There was somebody in our comments section in one time called you Larry Linguini and Jake and I haven't been able to unhere it. You should just be Larry

Linguini for your Jets channel. Larry Linguini. Yo, this is crew from more to Dela. Go get it. Eat some. You'll like it. It brings you the channel more to Dela. Good news. Makes me laugh. All right. Brad Jones in the house. He says on the same line as your tour, could the same thing work with Joey Boza bring him in halfway through the same play and football again. He's functionally retired. You know, it would have to be the right situation. But if he's in shape in the middle of the year and they need him, I'd call him. I have it. You can call him. He won't pick up. I have it on very good authority. He's retired. Okay. I'm still calling. I'm going to, I'm going to block them like I block all these spam numbers. This Joey, Joey, come on. Come on. Think it over. Think it over. Joey, you got to come. Um, that's going to do it for us. All right. Thanks to picking a pickle. Thank you to prize picks. Thank you to Nevada Chevrolet. Nevada Chevrolet dot com on the web. Um, Deeders, is there anything that we didn't cover that you would like to mention here?

Is there anything about week two that you have a thought on that you want to throw out before we get out of here? No, I will, I will plug the Deeder and Hutch channel. Yeah. Plug whatever football also Jake, uh, my co-host Deeder and Hutch channel, um, does the, the Hutch report, which is invaluable. If you're trying to get into the, the nerdy weeds of 49ers football, uh, his trench grades that he does for every game, immense and, uh, highly recommended. I think he upped his level. They were really important for anyone to read him last year and trying to understand what's going on in the trenches. Ironically, he's a little bitty guy and I'm all about these receivers and he's all about the trenches. But you know, that's the world that we live in these days. But, um, he really upped his game. The latest Hutch report, trench grades is sick. Also, just a lot of good news in it. So it's a, it's a, it's a quick read in that. Uh, you're just feeling good as you read all these positive grades that Jake's given. And, uh, as someone who likes watching good football, we hope that continues. Sounds great. Sounds great. Um, earlier this week on

the crew show, we, we sat down with the great, great, co-sell. It has close to 100,000 views and it's brought to you. Oh, co-sell's given you a hundo. 100,000 views. That's fantastic. That's great, man. Isn't that incredible? Great. I didn't get great, co-sell for Deeter and Hutch. Great. Co-sell is the man. Uh, many's brought to you by Alamarmarena.net. Sacramento's fans game day destination. Alamarmarena float while you dine on the Sacramento River voted Sacramento's best lunch spot. Try the shrimp tacos voted best specialty cocktails. It's at 599, nine garden highway, open Wednesday through Saturday, 11 to seven Sunday, 9 AM to 6 PM in the summertime. Close Mondays and Tuesdays. Try the shrimp tacos. But congratulations to Alamarmarena.net for being the proud sponsor of the great co-sell show. Yeah. Big win for them. 100,000, 100,000 people on all the different platforms. Check that great. I haven't watched it yet. I apologize. Again, it's really good. I mean, it's great to sell. I presume that. Were you

doing the whole league or were you just hanging on the Niners? Pretty much just the Niners. So I did ask him about what he thought of Joey Porter. And, you know, and he liked it. You know, he's just to Kevin for I'm sure putting together an all time thumbnail and title on that one to get the Algo to to bite in but Kasele. And we worked at KBR for how long? How many times does Greg Kasele on there? We never pulled anything like that when Kasele was on there. And he was always one of the best listened to segments on on the leader. You're you're kicking him. You're mauging him Larry. Well, you know, and Greg was had some serious great stuff to say this way. Of course. One of the things that he got into I thought was kind of interesting is he we were talking about, you know, the idea of Joey Porter and the viability of it. And Greg made the made the good point, which is that, you know, in today's NFL, you have these teams that basically, you know, come out and they play with these three by one sets. And basically they draw the safety to the three

wide receiver side and they leave the boundary corner to play zero coverage, you know, one on one on the other side. And he said, Joey Porter is that kind of guy that can play that zero coverage. And if you have that player, there's more versatility and things that you can do as far as games of front and mixing and matching. And so he liked the idea and he thinks that it would be a good fit. I also thought that the 49ers had enough money to afford him. I don't know, it's hard to say, but I do feel like it's all about getting a special player. And I'd rather go get a special corner and go find a Jordan Willis type defensive end at the cut down at the at the trade deadline. Like they found last year with Keon White, then then sit there and be like, I'm not going to do anything to improve my team because I may have a 2% chance at getting Max Crosby. And I just don't think that's the market place. If you're signing a corner off the street and you have to play him, you're really worried. There's always find a defensive end that you can play.

It's a great point. It's just a point of comp, it's just the marketplace in the same way where it's like, oh, would you rather bring in a tight end or would you rather bring in a wide receiver? Buddy, I don't need to worry about finding a wide receiver. I do need to worry about finding a tight end in this league. There's just not that many of them. And it's, you know, it's real estate, right? Like, it's just not that much land in the good places, but I can get you as much as you want in the middle of nowhere. You can have as much land as you want. They'll give it to you for free. Hey, one last thing on the way out the door. A bills go to two and out of night on Thursday night football, the opening of high mark stadium, 41 31. They beat the Lions Lions fall to one and one. They barely escaped last week against the Saints. We were so good. That felt so good about that. What do you think of Buffalo? It's like, you know, I get the sense that man this year where the 49ers are good. This is this going to be the year that Josh Allen gets his ring because he was awesome again tonight. I don't know if you caught this, but he was 20 of 31, 240 yards, three passing touchdowns, no picks. He ran 14 times for 69 yards and two more touchdowns.

He accounted for five freaking touchdowns. He was fantastic. And I think Joe and I think Joe Brady is really dialing it up. And I think there's a lot of really cool stuff that they're doing. Hopefully he stays on that grind because the issue with Joe Brady is always okay. He's got all this cool stuff. He throws it out there and he wants to show everyone how smart and cool he is. And then you get to about week eight. And suddenly there's no more ideas. It's the Cliff Kingsberry Cliff. And it's true. That defense for the bills is still super suspect. Though I do think Rousseau is leveled up. I think he looks really good. But everywhere else, you're like, oh really? It's like Bedford and Rousseau and not a lot else. And I'll tell you, I mean, the real takeaway is, and I knew this coming into the season and I got his, I got, I was in a tough spot in the fantasy league. I'm like, man, I can keep on on Rob, but like, it's going to cost me a pretty penny. And I go, they are going to be in so many shootouts. That defense is abysmal. And the last year was bad, but Brian Branch covered up a lot of warts. They don't have Brian Branch now. They're not going to

have Brian Branch for another six, eight weeks. That defense is Detroit defense. Detroit's defense. Detroit's defense is awful. And when people were talking in the preseason, like, I think Detroit can win the Super Bowl. I'm like, what the hell are you talking? I mean, they've regressed from their apex, which was the year that they went to the NFC championship game. They might only get one shot at this. Exactly. There's no guarantees. And as far as Buffalo, Deon Walker, man, between Deon Walker, Dewing Carter et Oliver, great gains. They've really developed some nice players inside. I don't know if they're defense guys is good. And it's only Oliver. I mean, Walker had Walker has three or four snaps tonight. A couple of missions. He had a couple of back downs. He's a man who's in a one technique body that wants to play five technique. And so he's a weak. He look good. I don't know what the box score said, but he looked good. I'm telling you, watching him, I'm not saying he's some scrubber or anything. What I am saying is everyone keeps talking about the Detroit offensive line as if it's five years ago. It ain't it ain't. They got

some scrubs on that offensive line. Are they starting Ben Barch? Like, it's the backup center. He had bad snaps today. They moved Penaisoul to the left tackle. Okay, that's fine by me. Penaisoul, I think the most overrated player in football. He's good, but he's not like people talk about him. Like he's an ex-anthony moon. Yo's get the hell out of here. And then everyone else on that line is questionable and or washed up. And people talk about it. And then you have Jared Goff back there. He can't do anything unless the pockets perfectly clean. They have some sick receiver and Gibbs is awesome. Don't get me wrong. And like Laporte is good. They're going to put up some points now. But like they are not a structurally sound team. And I forget the defensive coordinator's name, Kelvin, whatever. I don't think he can dial it up. Kelvin Shepherd. The Nate Tice had this on Twitter today. It was perfect. Because then I'm watching it. And it's just so obvious when someone points out, you know, kind of annoying, you point out this thing that should be plainly obvious. And then you see it. And you're like, Oh, right. Now you can't unsee it. He was emotionally blitzing. You familiar with the concept of an emotional blitz? Yes. Yeah. It's when you get you get burned

by the other team. So then you're like, Oh, I'll show you. And you blitz a bunch of dudes. Immediately after and Josh Allen's like, Oh, thank you for the easy money on the following down. Dude, they're Detroit's a mess. I don't think Dan Campbell's getting tired. They don't get fired. Yeah. I mean, they don't. They're going to run good Gibbs into the ground because they don't. He mean they're trying to run them on all those inside. They're back at the front. And Pacheco, who's never been good. I mean, the only back he is a special teamer. I mean, they missed David Montgomery. I mean, you know, three three of Careford, Jermir Gibbs, but back to Buffalo for a second, Deon Walker, three hits on the quarterback, three passes defense. He might be the only player in the league that can put those stats together. This in one game, three hits on the quarterback and three passes defense. How little how he is such a bad body. I mean, this guy's got one of the worst bodies of all time. But he is like a massive and I think Walker is going to be a player. Buffalo. I fear Buffalo.

Who is your Super Bowl pick? I took Niners Chargers. Jesus, who did I pick? I took Jesus. I think I had the Broncos. That looks awesome. I picked the Rams. I picked Rams. But I'm on the I'm on the bandwagon of the Rams, don't win the division and that the Rams dick around for about 14 weeks because they're like, they'll be fine. And that they kind of get burned and that there's like a lot of commentary around Halloween. Like, are the Rams actually not good? And I just I get this feel they're so talented that I get the feeling that they're just not going to try all that hard. But when they turn it on, that's going to be a real issue. I don't know if they get around to it. But when they turn it on, that is going to be a problem. And I'm fascinated to see it out because I think a lot of people are going to be trying to sell Rams stock. And I'm going to keep buying all the way up until the point where I see them get eliminated from the playoffs. Nice. Nice. All right. That is going to do
