49ers Trade for Odighizuwa, Cowboys Get Day Two Pick

The San Francisco 49ers traded their 92nd overall pick to the Dallas Cowboys for defensive tackle,

Osa Odi Hizua.

This deal happened amid reports that the Cowboys had a surplus at the position after adding

players like Quinn and Williams and Kenny Clark, making Odi Gizua available.

Earlier this week, teams were reportedly keeping tabs on Odi Gizua ahead of the trade.

The Cowboys saw him as expendable with their new investments which opened the door for

other squats to make a move.

ESPN shed light on the negotiations, noting the 49ers first offered a late round day three

pick, thinking Dallas just wanted cash.

But when they learned the Cowboys might hold on to him, San Francisco stepped up to the

day two pick to seal the deal.

They gave Dallas their first pick in that round, a nice upgrade.

Now questions swirl about whether the 49ers overpaid or smartly jumped ahead of competing

interest.

In the end, Odi Gizua brings proven talent to San Francisco's line heading into next

season, far better than whatever prospect they might have.
