Their connection point occurred in the late 1950s, when Dominick Dunne was casting a forthcoming show called Adventures in Paradise and handed off his business card to a handsome man he met in a coffee shop. That man was Gardner McKay, who would become a heartthrob during three seasons helming the Tiki III through shirtless adventures across the South Pacific. One future pirate that McKay inspired a young Jimmy Buffett.
