在兩岸對立的氛圍下，要求藝人在族群認同、國家認同上表態，逼人選邊站，這種「忠誠測試」是近年經常發生的事情，也引起很多爭議。而在大陸的民間輿論中，值得討論的，並不在這種事情應不應該──因為贊成者和反對者完全無法說服彼此；而在於，要求人家做到怎樣的程度，以及如何判定做到怎樣才算「過關」，算是合情合理的。
本集要介紹的關鍵詞，就是在這個議題上，目前比較多人接受的一種標準：「論跡不論心」。意思是，我們應該只要求人家表面上表態就好，不要追究人家是幾分真心、幾分假意，否則你一直懷疑下去，搞到像反右、文革那時候一樣，遲早會逼人太甚，真的也給人逼成假的。
