We're going to come back home and go to some breaking news.
A 16-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with the murder of a man in county
temporary last April.
Stephen Clarke, who was aged in his thirties, was taken to hospital then with life-threatening
injuries, and he subsequently died in hospital.
Let's talk to our south-east correspondent, Marco Driscoll, who's on the line.
Mark, first of all, will you remind us what happened last year?
Good afternoon, Rachel.
Well, this alleged fatal assault occurred in the castle-crana area.
That's about 12 kilometres southwest of the town of Nina, and that was on the 10th of
March of 2025.
So last year, now Stephen Clarke, who you mentioned, who was aged in his thirties,
was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries at the time, and he subsequently
died in hospital then on the morning of the 25th of April 2025.
So you had this court appearance in the last short while.
What happened in court today?
Well, before temporary town district court sitting in Turlis this morning, Rachel was
a 16-year-old boy who cannot be identified because he is a juvenile.
Now detective, Gerda Podrigoliri of Nina, Gerda Station, he gave evidence of arrest,
charge, and caution during this afternoon's brief hearing, and he said the accused made
no reply when the charge of murder was put to him this morning.
Judge Marie Keane said she did not have jurisdiction to grand bail on a charge of murder.
The court then heard that a place for the accused was available at Oberstown Children's
Attention Campus in Dublin.
Judge Keane then remanded the teenager to Oberstown to appear before Nina district
court via video link this day next week.
