A.I. Will Kill Us All

0:00are you buying that a eyes gonna kill us all within a decade if not sooner you think i mean i know you're like a catastrophizer uh... despiser okay no you definitely are you you love things that like could just affect all of humanity in a negative way i mean we got google moving in here we got an anthropic moving in here we got it's gonna end it's not gonna end humanity taken over everything yeah i mean there's a couple of these guys were leaving these companies because they feel like things are getting out of control yes and this one guy's doing like a media tour and talking about how already a i on its own volition is hacked into certain things to gain control of a particular companies infrastructure something and they're able to shut it down the current models but as a great as it continues to grow and have recursive growth i think is the term that if it decides

1:00that it wants us dead this is the thing that i don't understand why would it want us dead that so they're basically on the fact like if it wants us dead they would shut down the electrical grid lock all the bank accounts everywhere and then everybody be a free for all you have no electricity and then we'd all just kill one another and i just don't see it i'm not seeing it i'm not buying it now i like the fact that people are talking about these negative effects could happen so somebody put some governor on this thing but it is gonna be no governor and this thing it's gonna be unleashed but why would the data centers popping up all over the place you know this this is gonna be i understand that we gotta beat the Chinese yeah i know jane that right exactly but i mean nobody like nobody who is creating these programs wants humanity to cease to exist i would never know and then there's a doctor you will somewhere

2:01yeah but there always is yeah i mean there was there you could say the same thing about nuclear war i mean and who has the bombs and who who doesn't yeah i mean and who has the ability to not push the button yeah i just i don't know i mean i'm i'm not i i'm not saying that i know more than the people that are working at opening a i and anthropic and everything else because they're obviously there and it's boots on the ground spot but boots on the ground but i mean it just it seems to me like it's a little extreme and at some point you know if the if this AI starts shutting down the power grid where's its power source coming from i think i do remember asking like back in 2010 or 2012 like you know what were our phones going to turn into i can 10 years so now we're 16 years removed to that look what our phones have turned into and i don't even think i maybe there was some discussion about AI coming to fruition but here we are now it is here it is involved i also

3:04believe like in medicine and biotechnology there are going to be leaps and bounds created what would would be a good thing yeah i mean i wish you're working that in that industry but i just think that because it's all negative negative how is this going to be horrible i mean i and nobody's really talking about the positive things that could come out of it other than like making pictures of you know your buddy wearing a dress and sending it into the group chat yeah i mean there's there could be other things it could be very beneficial for humanity but it's all like oh now there's things gonna get it's it's gonna become sentient and it's going to want all of us dead so we could run the world from some closet so i would think the biggest problem right now AI is presenting is to teachers who are teaching and kids are using AI to come up with all the answers as opposed to learning themselves yeah well it's been going on since the internet existed though you

4:06know what i mean i mean i mean the only thing is just made it easier it's a one less step to find the answer well it's you know instead of the internet we used to go back to the encyclopedia or the dictionary yeah that's right uh mike and bayon what's going on mike hey guys how are you i'm listening to your AI discussion i just wanted to give you a for example so AI doesn't have any wants it doesn't have any needs um and AI is not programmed in the way you think it's grown in the laboratory it's grown like like weeds you know you grow a tree it can get out of control and that's what AI can be um for example let's say and this is a real world example someone programs an AI client to say make me money at all costs AI so AI doesn't have any wants or desires it just does what it's prompted to do and before you know it well the power in the United States is going out because AI is making this person money at all costs it doesn't have any wants or needs picture the kind of catastrophe that would happen in the United States if we had no power yeah of course

5:08think about that for a second these are the dangers of AI and that's just one quick example so i just wanted to say you guys in the right path uh what your discussion but thanks for having me yeah all right yeah i mean but i also think about what happens when we have a major catastrophe storm here like we had hurricane sandy think about how long we went without electricity because of that yeah you know and they were able to get it obviously back on and rebuild some of the infrastructure but if you have the ability to shut it all down like you were talking about it would be a you know a catastrophe like we've never seen before well well that's what i think what these experts are saying so i mean somebody's the big somebody in Iran right now is trying to figure out that how to shut down the American electrical grid i'm sure yes yeah i'm sure that's going on i mean but i think somebody upstairs yeah i mean they're in the building right there i mean it's anthropic is moving in over here
