A Prayer for When It Might Be Us

Loving God,

You know how quickly we look for someone to blame,

how easily we protect ourselves,

how often we hold tightly to our pride.

You see the moments when things go wrong

and we look everywhere but within.

Give us the courage to be honest with ourselves—

not with harshness or shame,

but with humility and grace.

Help us to recognize what is ours to face,

what is ours to learn,

and what is ours to change.

Remind us that we do not lose ourselves

when we take responsibility—

we grow into the people we are called to be.

Shape us into people who

accept responsibility,

who learn,

and who change.

And when it is hard for us to look within,

meet us there with courage and humility,

and guide us in love.

Amen.
