A Reflection For When We Want Bad People To Suffer

Sometimes we are so hurt, so offended, and so outraged that we celebrate when bad things happen to bad people.

But Ezekiel says that God takes “no pleasure in the death of the wicked but that the wicked turn from their ways and live” — from Ezekiel 33:9

We must never lose our hunger and thirst for righteousness, but we must never try to quench our thirst with revenge and retribution.

Even when reconciliation is impossible, we still seek whatever repair and restoration remain possible.

Our earnest hope for them is that they will choose pathways that lead to life—not only for our sake, but theirs.

Peace be with you.
