From the Fairbanks Museum, this is the eye on the sky forecast. A weakening cold front continues slowly southward this afternoon. On Wednesday, it will switch to a warm front and lift back toward us, bringing increasing winds and showers spreading roughly from northwest to southeast. The details this afternoon, partly cloudy south, clouds decreasing north, highs in the low to mid-70s north, mid to upper 70s in the south, northwest winds 5-10. Tonight, clear to partly cloudy, becoming mostly cloudy late in the north, lows in the low to mid-50s, some upper 40s northeast. Wednesday, chance of a morning shower north, then likely afternoon from the Champlain Valley westward, a rising chance elsewhere north, and a chance in the south, highs mainly from the upper 60s to mid-70s south winds gusting to 25 miles an hour, except gusting to 35 in the Champlain Valley. A meteorologist Lawrence Hayes with an eye on the sky.
