Rosalind Franklin's contributions to the discovery of the structure of DNA was unrecognized during her lifetime. Her photo 51, taken by her student, Raymond Gosling, led to the discovery of the DNA double helix. Along with her work on DNA, she also built model of the tobacco mosaic virus. The model was unveiled at the World's Fair in Brussels in 1958, she died of ovarian cancer the day before its unveiling. TMV is a single stranded RNA virus, a hypothesis first speculated by Franklin, and proven after her death.
