Good evening, Crimson Ty Nation. Welcome to an exciting edition of the Alabama post game show from yours, truly. Jats and Johnson, my partner, Cronk, Jeffrey, don't talk sports. Are the partner, Cronk, Kelsey, join us just a little bit as he was attending the Alabama Kentucky game himself. It lets him 10 as we all saw a dominant, dominant second half. I was all fine to touch down though on both, but you know what, that's okay. But I'm gonna tell you right now, it was a wild ride at a good time for a long time as Alabama scored 32 unanswered points in the second half and smacked the Kentucky wildcats off the face of the earth. How you doing today, good bye? I'm doing great, Jax and definitely, uh, glad, Alabama did not suffer the fate that a couple of other top 10 to 15 programs what they suffered earlier today getting upset. So that Alabama was really nice not to have a Florida State type of performance.
You know, the first half though, I was worried. I was really, really worried. But, you know, when they took that big lead in the second half and you know saw that 38 17 score, I was thinking about your score prediction. I was like, man, Jax and was right on on that. But I mean, for the longest part of the game though, it looked like most people's prediction of it being close was gonna stand because, I mean, it really was a competitive game in that first half. But, I mean, if you turn the game on late third, you know, and you saw that score, you thought Alabama was in complete control the entire game. And that definitely was not the case. But to me, it shows me two things, which I know we're going to get into, you know, more of the game. But what the major takeaways from me, what I see is that for one Alabama is still growing as a team. And that's that's a good thing. You know, like they're improving, right? Like, you know, they have a lot of growth still, you know, that seeing that struggle at first, like that's youth, that's young guys, Keeling Russell being a young guy, you know, had the pick six unfortunately, all that type of stuff. But the second thing it shows me
is that this team's ceiling is hot. Very high. Like, the ceiling is very, very high. It's potential is very, very much apparent for Alabama that when they get rolling, that defense looks really good and they get poured on like that. I mean, they the game turned around faster in almost any game I've ever seen. I mean, it went from a game that looked like we were going to go all way to the four quarter of the BAMMA just blown it open. So I was very impressed with Alabama in the second half. I mean, it was not a perfect game by any means and they got a lot of work still to do. But I mean, I think that to me, it showcases that this game, the Alabama's potential is through the roof. Yeah, and to be honest, you know, that, you know, the sloppy first half, that's what I was counting on when I made like the prediction, right? You know, because I thought to myself, this is what's going to happen. Alabama can tuck you. It's going to look a little sloppy for BAMMA for a little bit. But the second half, you're going to see the defense roll on a river on Keening Manchi and CJ Baxter. And then you're going to see Keelam Russell have won the best games of
his life, showing everyone why he was named the starting quarterback in the first place. That was why I said 3824 in the score prediction segment on Monday night. And I said it throughout Thursday night, I know I said it when I was guessing on Lothel West Virginia and on Mississippi Voice College football. I took those things into consideration because it was not going to last long for Kentucky. Alabama's going to get things rolling. Although I didn't figure it was going to be 32 on answer points. I thought it was going to be, you know, back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. But then the fourth quarter, Alabama gets things really rolling. But Alabama got things really rolling. You know what I felt better about Jeffrey a kicking game. I felt a little better about it. Because I mean, like that's how I felt about the run in the running game for Alabama. I mean, you saw they definitely in the second half when things started to go better for Alabama. Alabama ran the ball a lot better. Daniel Hill had some nice runs. I mean, it was, it was definitely
an all-around performance in the second half. The defense was on point. The run game got a lot better. Like you said, special teams kicking game. You know, hit field goals. I mean, to me, like they checked a lot of the boxes that you want to see. So, you know, like there's not a lot of weaknesses once Alabama's rolling. I mean, I feel like a lot of it Kentucky ran out of gas. I think that's that's very fair that they ran out of gas. Kentucky did put up a good fight in the first half. But I mean, once they started like hands on it, that's Alabama started to steamroll. I mean, it was, I mean, it was, it was a competitive game. I mean, like I said, like people that miss, you know, and if you have to work, you know, on a Saturday and then you just look at the final score and you're like, oh, Alabama blew out. Yeah. I get that, right? Like I've missed Saturday a couple of Saturdays before Rob Barley got to see any of the games, right? And then I look at the scores and I'm like, oh, that game went as expected. And then I'll have people say, Jeff, this was actually a close game. So that's what this what this game was close for two and a half quarters. It was a very competitive game. And it looked like it was going to be a nail-biter potentially.
But man, like I said, once Alabama got rolling, I mean, I was so impressed. I don't want to overhide this game up because we are so early in the season. Right. It's waiting. It's all Michigan go from barely winning Western Michigan controversial ending to beating a top 10-ish team in Oklahoma. So it's like Oregon lost. Like my point is, it's so early the year that you don't know yet, man. Right. I mean, in Alabama, it could still be a program with a lot of flaws, but they just look really good today. I think that they still have a lot of growth to do. But I do think, like I said earlier, that this game showcases the potential, you know, that this team has at their ceiling. The ceiling's high. Just whether they reach or not. Well, that's what the next 10 games are going to showcase. Yeah, because I mean, you know, you don't want to call things too early. And I think now that Kaelin DeBourre is three and three with Alabama being a double digit road favorite with
this win. That's something I'm looking at. And I've got I've got something saved up on my bookmark somewhere, but there was something I saw today for the Crimson top. Yep, there it is. There it is. This was something I saw from the match round. This was from earlier today. Yeah, this went out. Bambo was trailing. Oh, and seven. Well, you know what? Make that one in seven now. Rockers are mentally broken, right? I mean, you can't go. Oh, and Infinity. I mean, Indiana was like, oh, and 32 in their last 32 games against Ohio State. But then they won last year. So it's like, you're not going to go, oh, forever. You know, I mean, I guess somebody maybe could, but you know, some team, but Alabama was not going to keep losing those type of games like that under Kaelin DeBourre. You knew that the Todd, you know, was gunna was gunna turn. And I mean, we don't know how good Kentucky is. We really don't. Right? We have no idea. No, because we
don't want to throw the car to him before the horse or throw the baby out with the bathwater. It's just not enough of the sample size. I mean, you know, again, like I said, I mentioned with Michigan, you know, in Oregon, I mean, we're so early in the year that overreactions do happen. That's why they're called weak one overreactions. Michigan against left or Michigan look terrible. Yeah. Right. They shouldn't have won. They look terrible. Then against Oklahoma, I mean, offensively, they were still kind of terrible, but I mean, defensively, they played very, very good. I mean, this was an Iowa like defense. I was really good. Their defense was incredible. And Oklahoma could do a thing and they got a big win. So the effort was there. I mean, a lot of football effort. I really believe like Oklahoma state, you lose to Tulsa. Yeah. Right? And then you beat Oregon. I mean, make that make sense. You lose to Tulsa, but you beat Oregon. Yeah. Oregon is way better than Tulsa, right? But Oklahoma state loses on the road to Tulsa, but then
beats Oregon at all. I don't know. It's one of those things. I was a ball sometimes don't make sense. And that's what we love about it. Right? True. Because like nobody's going to bring their A game against a Tulsa, but everybody's going to bring their A game against the Oregon. That's it. And like, it's funny. I saw like so the comparisons. I saw the voice college football, that's count, you know, saying this guy is this like 2025 Penn State land in Tango. Well, shout out the land in Tango. That's a great job on his channel. Talking about whether 2026 Oregon is equal to 2025 Penn State, but you know, that's neither here nor there. Of course. Yeah. I mean, again, it's way, way too early to tell. But I mean, they could still turn it around, but I mean, we don't know. I mean, that's why I predict in college football games is hard though, because you know, everybody picked Oregon. I mean, I'm sure there's somebody out there that picked Oklahoma State to win, but you know what I mean? Like 99% of people pick Oregon. Most people picked
up. I wanted to have a little fun with his money. Probably pick. Yeah. Most people picked Oklahoma. I mean, I'm not saying that to like justify wrong predictions. I'm not. But what I'm saying is it makes it very difficult to predict college football game, especially early in the year when the results are so all over the place. Alabama, I mean, when you picked Alabama when 3817, 38, I'm on. I'm like, that could that could absolutely happen. Yeah. That could Alabama could easily beat Kentucky. But I was thinking again, we've had all these games where Alabama has struggled in these row games under the board. So I'm like, yeah, I'm not going to do it. It's too early in the year. We don't know if Russell can handle the environment. You know, so yeah, I'm going to need to answer questions. Michigan. Yeah. They did not roll like like I said, yes. I know I know you're joking on that. But again, they did not. You know, that's that's literally the whole point of what I'm saying. The predictions you've no. No body in the planet.
That's a non-Mission fan expected that result. Nobody on the planet that's not an Oklahoma state fan expected the Oregon result. If you're not an Oklahoma state fan, if you're not a Michigan fan, you're not picking them in that game. I know you are. I mean, you're I'm impressed for it. You know, I think it's great for Michigan fan. I think it's great for Oklahoma state fan. It's a great win. It's just it's I love it in the fact that it makes college football unpredictable. It makes it fun to watch, but it's also frustrating because like legitimately, you try your best to make predictions, right? You do try your best to make predictions and be as accurate as possible. But you just can't. It's not like there's in my mind, there's no way in the world that I had Oklahoma state winning that game. No, no, like it's just the Michigan game. I could legitimately see that more just because it was in the big house and you know, maybe the defense, whatever still didn't think anyway, it was going to happen. But the Oklahoma state game, I was like, nah, that's not happened
at all, right? So I mean, I like I said, it's awesome for Michigan. It's awesome for Michigan. I mean, it's just funny because I mean, Michigan was like the villain of entire college football last week. You know what I mean? Like everyone was pulling for Oklahoma and then Oklahoma just lays that egg. I mean, it is hilarious. I mean, Texas and Oklahoma state fans are pretty happy, though. I mean, you got to admit and Nebraska fans because they're happy to see Oklahoma go down. So, yeah, I mean, I know that. I mean, I mean, that's got to be a good day for Oklahoma state. You know, you upset Oregon and then you see Oklahoma, Liz, the Michigan. Oh, you probably got, we are the champions playing in the bat in your background, but bat to Bama for a moment, you know, because I wanted to look at the first half for a moment. Because like it was pit sits, pit sits to start off the game, right? I mean, Matt, Matt, you know, we saw like, you know,
killing getting pressured, right? And I'm not going to lie. I was getting a little worried. I mean, I was swearing at the desktop a little. So that I was getting a little worried. But, you know, I was a little worried for sure. I mean, the way that Alabama started the game, I was like, I mean, the picks, when the pick six happened, I'm just like, okay, that mean, you don't want to give Kentucky belief. Because when you do that, when you give a smaller team belief, the up, you know, the underdog, then yeah, you fed the crowd. They're going in a frenzy. I wasn't impressed with the amount of Bama fans at the game, but I mean, the Kentucky fans were on a frenzy. But yeah, like, Alabama though, I mean, when that happened, I mean, we started out so bad that we couldn't run the ball, passing was a struggle, but like a second half turned around, but yeah, get back to the first half stats. So it was not pretty. No. No, because it was like pit sits, you know, from Kentucky, and then you get Bama getting a pit sits with loop mats. They see Kentucky scoring a touchdown
to start off the second quarter. And you know, you see Bama getting field goals, because I mean, it was like the little things like it was just something I always like to think back to that old interview that I saw from that Keith Jatz now, Bama tape of Tommy broker talking about where bear Bryant told, told everybody about if you did the little things first, you can accomplish them. Then you can be able to accomplish the big things. Well, today was a great example of that, because like one of the things was, can we be able to kit field goals? Because I mean, it's a little thing, you know, get a field goal correctly with 10 minutes left in the second quarter. Can you get a field goal? You're before half time starts. Can you make sure that everything is rolling, right? Like make sure you've got your your your your teas and one place and your ours and one place. That that's what it felt like to me today. You know, we had to make sure we had the little things
corrected. Then we can be able to do the big things. Absolutely. I mean, 100%, that applies to almost anything, you know, in life right there. I mean, it's that's that's a very key, you know, point. I mean, how many games have we seen where especially with kicking the kicking game? I personally, my you know, I would say my philosophy. Obviously, I'm not a head coach, but I mean, pretty much I'm not saying in every instance, not in every instance. Sometimes it makes sense to go for it. You know, it depends on momentum's a big thing. Who you're playing, how confident you are. I'm not saying every time, but especially the earlier in the game you are in the first and second quarter, especially I am a believer in kicking field goals. If you've got a good kicker, if you believe in it, he hits most of his kicks, kick the field goal. Because if you miss, think about Alabama's a couple of those times that they did not kick the field goal and then they went for it and did not get it. Instead of being down for you're down 10. Yep. So it's like,
we've seen Lane Kiffin at Ole Miss lose games because several times he didn't kick the field goal and he went for it didn't get it. So then you're leaving points off the table, right? I personally am a believer in kicking the field goal most of the time in a fourth and short and you're in the red zone or 25 yard line. I mean, if you're down by like 20, okay. But like if you're down by four, kick the field goal. It's like I saw in the Arizona game. The Arizona against BYU, I had that game on for brief and there was a play. Arizona is down 2117. Arizona has four down. They go for it. They don't get it. If they had to kick the field goal, they're down 2120. BYU scores on the next drop. So it's 2820 if they kicked the field goal. But guess what? Since they didn't, it's 2817 games over. It's like if you kick the field goal, you still have a chance. Obviously you get it and you score a touchdown. Great. But you didn't. So I understand why people go for it. And like I said,
if I was a coach, there would be times I probably would go for it. But most of the time, especially earlier in the game, take the points. And Alabama did that and it kept the game close where it never looked like they were way down. That's a big psychological thing. It really is. Yeah. And you know, when we were trailing going into halftime, right? If some people got pretty worried, but I'll be honest with you, you know, this, this is exactly what I thought it was going to be. I was counting on that. It was going to be the second half. Bama's going to have their way. I mean, we saw their day fans just blowing up on Kentucky. There was one play. I don't know if he saw it or not, but there was the fake one that could tuck you as goal board. Yeah. It didn't work out. See that right there was terrible too. Because again, like I understand why they went for it. And I'm not saying, like I do agree with the
commentator. He said that I believe it was the right move to go for it, but the execution was terrible. I mean, I wouldn't say 100% agree that it was the right decision because the game was still closed, but I can understand that Will Stein and company were thinking, well, the game started to shift. We need to get the momentum back. I get that. The play was terrible. The play was absolutely terrible. I mean, they ran the play was off, but I'm not completely like against them going for it. But I feel like that them not getting it that ended the game right then and there like Alabama had the momentum after that. And Kentucky was cooked. Whereas if Kentucky doesn't do that, maybe they still have a chance for Garls though, I do think Kentucky was just out of gas. And I do believe Will Stein off the corner and all that, they recognize that Kentucky was starting to slip in the game. So that's why they were like, we got it. We got to try something which is respectable. You know, it's commendable than to do so. But again, the play call was terrible. And after that point, Alabama had the game. Yeah. And just kind of like looking at it,
right? You know, 18 points scored from the third quarter, right? There again, field goal. They got the touchdowns from Keelam Russell. And you know, after they recovered the fumble, like they took advantage of forcing turnovers, right? That's what helped, right? It helped magnificently. It's like Russell was able to take advantage of that. It, you know, one of the things I talked about with the Lilithies was making sure you had the running game square way. And you talked about as well. So we had 155 total rushing yards. Yeah, there was at one point in the third quarter that they had 14. So they went for 14 rushing yards to 155. They ended up with in less than a quarter and a half. Yeah, because I was like, oh, no, are we the same Bama from last year? Like when just looking at those stats? Like good grief. But you definitely would like to see Alabama run the ball better earlier in the game to set the
tone. That's still the next step. Like yes, Alabama ran the ball really well in this game, the late third and fourth quarter. But they only did so once Kentucky started to wear down. So to me, it's like the next step for Alabama to improve as an offense running the ball is that they need to be able to do it earlier in the game to set the tone. Yeah, because like honestly, you know, like that is what what helped as well. Like so those plays on third short. And we got first down on the, you know, we got like a first down on fourth down. Like that was what really helped as well. You know, just kind of getting things going. But yeah, I mean, like the fourth quarter, that was where we basically own the night really. That was where we really just own the night. The way we played against Kentucky in the last like 15 to 20 minutes of the game, I mean, we look like a top five to 10 team. And again, I don't want to over
hype the game because it is Kentucky. I get that the thing this I think is frustrating for me with football and it's the same football. It's like I said earlier to with Michigan, or about the Oklahoma game being unpredictable, the way Michigan won and the Oregon Oklahoma State game. Those games did not go the way we thought. But what's frustrating is is like most people, their takeaway is, oh, it's Kentucky. Alabama should have done this. Yes. I agree. But we have not seen the board do this as the Alabama head coach. We have not seen the Alabama football team under him do this, right? On a regular basis. We have not seen that happen. Where Alabama can just go on the road against an inferior team and put them away like they're supposed to. The only team we've seen Alabama really do that against was Wisconsin. They blew out Wisconsin and Cam Randall. But other than that, these have been the vandee games, the four to
states. And even the games we won like the South Carolina game last year. That was competitive, right? So like Alabama had not proven to me that they could go on on the road in this type of game and just comfortably win. The fact that they did this, that gives me more confidence. And if they can do it again against Mississippi State, then I'll give me even more confidence, right? So it's like, that's the way, like I understand people, most people like, well, you know, guys, it's Kentucky. But still, Alabama needed to prove that they could win a game like this the way they did. And they just did. So that's a great sign for me that this team is hopefully trending in a very, very positive direction. But like you said, way too early to know for sure if this team legitimately great. We got to see a lot more results. But this is a very positive sign. Yeah. And I wanted to ask as well. And you let me know what you think. But how did you feel about the offense for the Crimson Tide Day? Like, where would you grade it on, you know, from A to A,
which I mean, obviously, one effort, eight or a day, I mean, it's like, no. No. What do you think about the offense today? It's really tough because you're judging again, two different like two different halves of all. You know, I mean, like if I'm going off the first half, I would, I'd probably say around a D plus or maybe C. My hat said best. It was not very good, right? Then a second half, I would probably go A minus A maybe. I mean, they were very good in the second half. So all together, I would probably say around a B minus. It wasn't perfect. It was not perfect at all. I mean, the offensive line is the biggest reason why I'm not saying higher because there were plenty of times where Keel and Russell did not have any time to throw, which is what happened to Todd Simpson a lot last year. There were times where the covers did not, you know, hold up,
and he got sacked or he got pressured heavily. So I mean, the offensive line still had issues, but the offensive line did show improvement, especially late in the game when Alabama was able to run better. The running game looked good in the second half and overall they looked a lot better than saying, I would somewhere between a B minus and a B. I don't want to say higher than that because the first half was so poor. And there still were issues and plus there were some fall starts and stuff like that. We got a lot of, we got a lot of leads. They're just whatever. So I'll say about a B minus. It was good. It was a good performance judging the entire game, but there was a lot of bad in there. So it wasn't perfect. Yeah, I'll go with a B on this one. Yeah, because like he said, like penalties we had, we had a lot of those, but it was not what we wanted, but you know, again, it was a great day for the Crimson tide in the second half, especially. You know, 32 unanswered points. Like if we judged it by the second half alone, it would be a plus.
But if it was like by the first half, it was like a C minus D really. Because I mean, that's where we would be at really. So I guess that kind of averages out to a B today. Yeah, it's kind of like, I mean, if you have two tests and like somebody gets a D on the first test, and then basically an A on the second test, it's going to fall somewhere between a B and a C. You know, it's like, that's just, that's the way it is. I mean, like they just had so much bad in there. And then so much really good that it kind of all averages out to above average slightly, but you know, it was above average. I can't say a C because judging the whole game, there was so much good at the end of the game that, you know, it was a great sign, but I'm with you around a B B monies is, you know, where we're ultimately ends up. But I think that the second half, Alabama fans have to feel confident. You know, I believe that, you know, the way they showcased all those positive abilities and being able to run the ball well, Keeling Russell make great throws.
The guy is talented. You know, we haven't, we've just talked mostly about the offense, but just Keeling himself. He could throw the ball. Yeah. Really well. I mean, he has an R man. Great, great passer when he's locked in and seen, but he just needs to be able to have Tom to throw the ball. And he's to be, you know, have that comments because when he gets starts scrambling around, he's a young guy. Mistakes are going to happen. You know, there were a couple plays, you know, that he could have done better on, but I mean, overall, I thought he played very, very well. I mean, he looks really good, but if he can get more support from the running game and he can get support from the offensive line better as the season goes along, I think Russell is going to do very well. Yeah, that's for sure. Yeah, because like it's interesting to see what's going on, but I saw a press conference clip just now. This was a post game press conference clip from Keel from Caleb de Bohr. This way said about the offense, let's go ahead and play it, shall we? I felt in the in the in the half time. You know, it wasn't this crazy energy that we had to have.
I felt like it was kind of almost just getting locked in, getting refocused and just knowing the game. It was going to be ours. We just got to go out and execute and the turnover battle. Obviously, that was a big part of the swing. First half given those guys, uh, giving Kentucky a chance with, you know, the interception for a touchdown. Obviously, we got one back. We know that that's a huge part of what's winning what winning football is all about. So, um, Daniel Hill getting a hundred yards, uh, just saw that and that's that's exciting. I want to mention, uh, Jaira Edwards, uh, 19 days out of a, uh, a broken arm, uh, post op, uh, going out there, getting a sack. Um, just we got a lot of tough dudes and uh, that's toughness physically. That's toughness, cementally. Um, I think there's some emotional maturity, uh, you know, we had some penalties, but it wasn't, I have to think back, but I don't think it was anything as far as just foolish, uh, late hits and things like that. So, we're going to get better as we keep playing. And, you know, even just, you know, getting, getting young guys out there, uh, snaps, um, offensively probably in particular,
getting guys those reps, uh, getting familiar, familiar with everything. Um, that's going to be part of where we're at right now, early part in the season. So, uh, doing what we did and went in the second half, uh, builds belief, builds trust. Uh, you got to go through these those experiences really for it to shape and build your team. What's the ain't, man? Well, I do really, really like, you know, here and, and talk about toughness. You know, the fact that, you know, that that's been a talking point for Alabama recently, is that they're not tough anymore, you know, they're soft and, you know, I mean, again, the standard of Nick Sabin's probably never going to be matched, you know, again, I mean, you never, can't never say never, but, you know, the way Nick Sabin was able to lead is it would be very, very, almost impossible to replicate. But if the board can get, find a sweet spot in this modern era to be able to lead and have a tough enough program, you know, then, then that's a great sign. I feel like that,
hopefully this game is a positive step in that direction because there have been games where Alabama just has not been tough, not mentally tough, maybe not even physically tough, playing as strongly as they could. And it did feel like, especially later on in the game, like Alabama had some hard hits on Kentucky, they were, you know, punishing them a little bit. And I mean, that's what you want to see. You want to see that effort. You want to see like, hey, like, it doesn't matter. We get a lead. You know, hey, like, we're not going to stop playing. I mean, that's what I've respected about Kurt Signetti so much is the fact that no matter how ahead, Indiana is, he's still giving 110% on the sidelines. He's still locked in. He's not, you know, like, oh, well, we got the game. It's fine. No, like he, he's still classic Signetti. You know, I want to see more, you know, I want to, I want to see the team still, you know, every play, act like it's zero, zero. I mean, that's what you got to do. I mean, that's how you get leads is playing hard. Alabama, they didn't let up at all on Kentucky. I want to see that the rest of
the season. I mean, obviously, you're not going to be perfect every game. You might lose a game or two. But if Alabama can have the effort that they gave in the final 20 minutes of the game more, more the rest of the season, that would be huge. And like he said, the toughness that guys, you know, show gyro edwards and, you know, Crow will come back off injury. He has some decent runs in there. Like you, you see in these guys fight. And I mean, he tried to hopefully send a message that Alabama, maybe he's not back, you know, I can't stand using that because Alabama's never falling off, falling off. So they're not, they're not going to be back. You know, that gets another use for me or slammed and back like back is overused for sure. I mean, if, if a pro like Nebraska, if Nebraska went 11 to 1 this year, then you could be like, Oh, Nebraska's back. Okay. Sure. But like Alabama, oh, it's saving gone. And now they suck. And oh, we're back. Alabama's not going to be back. We never left. Right. We're not, we haven't fallen off a cliff. So I don't agree with that. But at
least Alabama getting more back to the standard of what Nick Sabin had of being a tough program, being a, you know, a team that never lets up. I hope we're trending again in that direction. I did see a lot of positive signs today. Well, and looking at the defense, like for me, I would grade it as an A, honestly, because I mean, like forcing a short out in the second half was pretty awesome and getting some touchdowns and just forcing, you know, stops on the wild cats, like, especially making sure that Kentucky only got one first down on third down. Yeah, I mean, like Kentucky got 14 first downs. But only one of them was on a third down conversion. That was huge right there. If you had to give the defense a grade today, Jeffrey, where would you have it be? It feels like a $500,000 question. It wasn't me. Bill, you're nothing. I mean,
I want to say an A, I do because they were very, very good. I mean, they got to pick, obviously, on Menchie, you know, they got a lot of stops. But I mean, they're, especially still the first half. I feel like Kentucky was able to move the ball pretty well. But I mean, then you look at the fact that total in the game, they only gave up 63 rushing yard. That's, that's great. Like, there have been games in the past where Alabama is giving away too many yards on the ground. The teams that are not worthy of doing that against Alabama. So I'll say an A minus. It was good. They played very well on defense. I can't give any worse in A minus. Maybe I'm being a little too harsh. I mean, A is also fair. But I just think, you know, especially early in the game, Kentucky had confidence. Kentucky could move the ball. Evident by those first downs, evident by, you know, the fact that they did put up 17 grand at one of those events score. But still, you know, it's like, I mean, they, they were able to compete and move the ball at, I mean, the second half was so impressive. So,
I mean, you could go like anywhere between A minus and A. It was a great defensive performance. If they had have done better in the first half of not like Kentucky, move the ball than it absolutely would have been an A or A plus. Absolutely for me. But as is, you know, they, they were way better on defense than they were on offense. Consistently, I just game like the defense wasn't even bad in the first half. But it definitely was way better in the second half. So we always said the defense was ahead of the offense. And I mean, this game proves that and it's probably hopefully, I don't want to say contains rest of the year because I hope the offense can get just as good as the defense. But our defense is probably going to be better than our offense the whole season. I mean, it looks superior. It looks better than our offense. But hopefully our offense can still catch up. And they did show good songs today. First sure and special teams. I mean, I can give that and I don't want to say A plus because I mean, I saw I'm going to fund the card in for the horse. I mean, it was an A right there because like we asked the questions all off season about the kicking game.
One of the most sure we got things rolling and we were good to go. And you know, we got the little things done on the kicking game. So I can grade 1000. Hey, and Jeffrey, how did you feel about the special teams? Where would you grade it? I give it a I mean, it was no complaints. I mean, they hit their field goals, you know, didn't didn't really make that many errors. You know, they got the the stop on special teams with the fake pun and all that. So I mean, you know, it was it was really good overall. I mean, you can't really complain there. I mean, special teams is one of those things where you just don't want to hear about it. Right? Like if you're hearing about special teams and it's bad, you know, like and you didn't really hear that because Alabama did what they were supposed to do pretty much. So I'll give it a. Well, it's kind of like it's good to make sure that special teams is all good because it's kind of like making sure you've got a plan. Like you've got protection. When all else fails, you got your special teams writing and raring to go. You don't
want to be like Jimbo where you have no special teams coach and you're not prepared for it. What's so ever that's go by chief in the long term for sure. But you know, all in all great game today for the Crimson tide Wild ride in Latsington and we're going to get out here in a little bit to let you turn into Texas Ohio State because that's a wild one Kirk curve street and the dog and Chris Valor there in Austin. Disarge made it get that marquee win the first. Let's talk about our sponsors Randall with all of you. And the NFL season is week one. Of course, we already got this party started. But you know, I picked my week one games because I mean, but Jeffrey, we didn't get to hear yours. My God, let's hear yours. I definitely went Panthers. I know for a fact.
Maybe a little bit of a bias pick, but hopefully they win. I know, scrolling down. Had a couple more interesting selections, but I can't remember the games. I did go tight to beat the jets. I don't know if that's going to age, but I did do that. And I also picked the chiefs to win and cover into Denver Broncos. I don't know if I'll be wrong there either, but I did go with the chief to cover that two and a half. I think I'd win about three. So be very interesting to see what happens that games. I know a lot of people think Denver can win. A lot of people are shocked. The chiefs are even favored, but still in the homes kind of hard to not count on them. So we'll see if they can bounce back this year. But yeah, I know those are three games I had for sure that I picked the chiefs to win and then also the Titans and then the Panthers. All right. So you heard it from the man himself, the Titans, the Panthers and the chiefs. Because like, I'm going to be real. I know that
patching my homes is recovering from his injury. But still though, I mean, it feels like the 09 Patriot, not the owner. Yeah, the 09 Patriots. He's just a little bit. That's what's kind of feeling like. Yeah, everybody's down on my homes. You know, it's like he's, you know, he don't want to say washed, but you know, the kind of a little bit of the talk there. So it's like, you know, is he going to come back with a vengeance? It just just kind of feels like he will. I don't know. Again, it's week one. So it's impossible to really know how these teams are going to do. I mean, for example, I picked the Rams. Wow. 49ers just completely destroyed the Rams, right? Like, I wasn't expecting an outlet. But I mean, I did get the sea ox game, right? Well, it was Seattle. And even when I saw Darrell got her, I'm like, oh, no, I'm getting that one wrong. But then they didn't win it anyway. So it's, oh, man, the NFL is the hardest to pick. It's crazy as colleges. It's crazy. As colleges and the upsets have in college, the NFL to me is the hardest to
pick, man. There we go, man. I'm just going to tell you, it's going to be a wild one. Well, Jeffrey, what match have you got cooking on only taught sports? Good, buddy. You know, I got me stepped up to 4 AM again. Are you? No, I'm definitely trying out to do that. I should be live later after the big Texas Ohio State game.
