Thanks for checking out our Chris Crowder video as we welcome you to Montreal Canadiens Golf Tournament Day and the official start to a Montreal Canadian season head of training camp and then obviously puck drops in Toronto on September 29th. The puck will drop in Toronto without Ella's Anders Eroski because his season is already underway in the KHL with UFA. And the signs are all positive, Marco, with the start to his season in the KHL. I wouldn't say all positive. There are obviously things to work on. But I think just from an offensive perspective, I've definitely liked what I've seen in terms of his

4:05engagement at five on five. I think that's the best way to position it. I think he had, you know, one of my biggest concerns with him was production at even strength. You look at, you know, his hot start last year, predominantly on the power play. And that generally is a huge red flag for me, specifically because if and when Alexander Zorowski plays for the Montreal Canadiens, he's not getting first wave of the power play unless there's a rash of injuries, right? So you're going to want a player that comes in that's going to be able to give you production at five on five. And that's going to be able to play for a coach like Marta is saying, we that demands defensive awareness that translates into offensive production. And not all players have necessarily jived with that. So you want to make sure that some of those players are ready when they come in. I've been, we remember when I even demadoff came in, the first 10 games last season.

5:05Remember, Sean, we were talking about this like the defensive game wasn't there. He was getting clipped to the bench. So Zorowski, I feel as more raw than demadoff was at the time. I thought demadoff's two way game was more than acceptable when he started to league. Alexander Zorowski, it's still hot and cold from time to time. Like his game against barisestana on the 9th of September. Defensively, that was rough. Right offensively. I liked what I saw. He scored his first goal of the season. Yeah, was setting up. She was a great player. I was a great player. I was a great player. I was a great player. I was a great player. I was a great player. Remember, then giving them the way of moving in, uh, ah, um, um, defenseively just sometimes just picking the right guys. Um, Was a little unlucky on certain situations. But for the most part, what fans need to understand. His vision. Very good.

6:06him to the gym like five six times a week, he's much faster. You know, the K H all now has almost had at 181 pounds. Well, that means he's gained 15 pounds in the last 13 months. That's not bad. Not bad. Yeah. I've also gained 15 pounds in the last four months, but he blamed Mateo for that one. Yeah. And that's, you know, I don't know, chicken tender diet or whatever else, right? I mean, this is not a, you do too many, uh, putteens in Montreal. That's not the 15 pounds we're talking about. I think I don't think I've had to put since since my son was born. Oh boy. Yeah, it's all chicken tenders, but I lost the 15 pounds. So I'm back to zero. Um, what's the expectation here? Um, tempered as they may be 59 games last year and 16 goals. As you just pointed out, scored his first goal to go with a couple of assists, right? To give him three points after three games. The last time I checked. And I'm curious about, you know, what's a respectable goal total if you could put a number on it for his season goal total. Yeah. What are we talking?

7:1020 goals? Like what's what's what's the bump? I would, I would hope for 20 goals. Yeah. You know, he had 16 last year. So I would expect him to be closer to that level right now. Like he's a point per game right now. He's got three points and three games. It's very early. Remember, um, but again, they're not all gimme points coming on the power play. A lot of it is creative. Like he had two assists against Omsk earlier last week. And they were gorgeous passes, you know, and I five on five, the well timed, well executed. You know, so offensively, yes, I'd like to see him shoot more. That is my one major critique. Remember last year at the start of the season, Ivan Demadov was just automatic pass first guy and it frustrated the Jesus out of everybody. That's exactly what Jerovsky is. He's consistently trying to pass the puck when he's got golden opportunities to take shots. And it's not for lack of trying. He's getting himself into those positions where I feel like he has

8:14a golden opportunity to attack the open ice and shoot. But he's not. He's passing to sheepachov who is the K H L's, you know, record holder for scoring in that league. And obviously you feed the veterans when you're a younger player, even if you're a sophomore. So he has incredible vision. Like it is for me, it's the one on one ability, the hands of the vision, you'll lead the prospect for those categories where I wanted to see more of Jerovsky, to be honest, like we talked about the defensive side, the physical implication, using the body because he's six to 180 now. So he's not a small guy in the NHL, like maybe add another 10 pounds to that. And he's more than holds his own. So what I liked is even for the K H L, which isn't overly physical league, they are, they are using NHL ice now for those that don't know. So the site, like the big ice isn't an equation here. I liked what I saw a little bit more

9:15physicality using his body to separate man from puck. puck protection. Yeah. Strong in the back check. Good on the puck, puck protection. I really liked what I saw. But again, sometimes it's the decision making with the puck, especially the offensive blue line and stuff like that. Things that come with maturity, but his coach, I think it's slab of cause love, just a double check. I remember him talking to us at the end of last year where he's like, you know, the talent is there. But now it's adding layers to that game. And I think he's done a good job in adding them. And I still believe this player has top six potential. Right. I just, I think we need to see a little bit more in the in the shooting side of his game, getting a little bit more into those areas, especially when the corridor is open for him to walk right in and defensively, just, you know, he's definitely improved from last year. I'm not going to, I'm not going to like harp on him. But I think defensively, you just got to maybe slow the game down a little bit.

10:18He wants to counter attack a little too fast to types. How much involvement do you think the Canadians have other than watching from afar or, you know, speaking to who they have boots on the ground, so to speak with his game? I mean, is it, they give him a lot of room on the leash to run, you know, or how are they more hands on in terms of the Canadians? Game by game. No, the Canadians don't have impact on like they have conversations. Maybe at the start of the season on like philosophical ideas of what's going to happen. Yeah. But they don't, they don't, there's no no, no, no, no, you can't really. Like they're too very independent leagues. They don't have a transfer agreement. They don't know you anything. But at the same time in the interest of camaraderie, you want to, you know, have a good relationship. Though one thing I could say though is, you know, at the end of last season, his coach had no problem benching him for inconsistent play. Right. And we even saw during the preseason, sometimes he'd start on the fourth line.

11:24You know, and that's message sending. It's we want to see, you know, the status quo is no longer acceptable. You need to elevate. And they know that he has the talent to elevate. So they're playing that card. And it has nothing to do with politics. It has nothing to do with him potentially leaving because it's not a done deal that Alexander Zorovsky's joining the Montreal Canadians in April. It's not everyone around him says he needs this year in the K H L at least before making the jump to the NHL. So it's not a done deal. There is no politic in going on here. It's, is he the best player amongst the players that they have in that line rotation? Is he the best one you could put out there? And if not, he skips his turn. And that's that's the way cookie crumbles in the K H L. It's it's results driven league. They don't care about development. So I get it. And I like that coaching style when you have talented players that know they need to get to another level. And I remember Sean, you know, when we talked to Zorovsky through our Sanyi Radkov as an interpreter this summer at the

12:27development camp, he said it. He's like, I'm going to have to listen to whatever my coach tells me to do because, you know, I know I have the skills, but it's how to be a pro. And I want to learn how to be a pro so that I can get here here being Montreal as quickly as possible. So you see the details that he's worked on, like the foot speed has definitely improved. And I don't like saying this about like young players, but like his legs were like chicken legs at the very beginning. I remember this even his coach made that joke. And you saw him and Ivan in the gym really focusing on that lower body strength. And you know, I see it in Zorovsky in the way that he plays wait till you see Ivan's cape because him too looks much, much faster. I've seen him a couple of times now up front. It's going to be very noticeable. And you see it already with Zorovsky and a quicker Zorovsky, that's a dangerous proposition because if he could, if his feet can move as fast as his hands,

13:29you have a very dangerous counterattack rush offense winger that could produce. Now it's a question of becoming a dual threat option in terms of shooting and passing. You mentioned a couple of things there of both top six potential, which is by no stretch a guaranteed. And then you talk about and reference the potential timeline and use the word patience to more or less illustrate the point and bring it home, right? But it's no guarantee that he's going to be here in April 2027. The kid turns 20 in February. And I wonder then, you know, thinking after listening to you, how patient are the Montreal Canadians in their current timeline? Again, under the umbrella of nobody's untouchable, right? But without the guarantee that he's, you know, a top six undeniable talent. No one on this conversation is saying that today. That allowed the Montreal canals to be a little bit more liberal in terms of speaking out loud now

14:31for him to be a trade chip in order to upgrade their NHL roster. Well, I think as folks will kind of realize on September 15th when the next rebuild episode comes out. Yeah. Maybe he's at a big deal in place by the trade deadline. Two first round picks were involved. I'll let you figure out who the prospects were and I'll let that answer Sean's question. Yeah. Okay. Right without confirming or denying, if you're trying to make an acquisition for a big piece, you got to give to get. We talked about it in the last episode with Zach Budzek. If he's the piece that Columbus wants in a Marchenko deal, it's going to hurt because I think he's a good player with a really good future ahead of him. But career Marchenko could be a point for game player playing next to Ivan Dumbledore. So, yes, you got to weigh the pros and the cons. So this is why I'm saying like, is it a foregone conclusion that he's going to be a top six player? No, no, it is not. No. Is he the kind of boomer bus type that can be a top six player? Absolutely. Absolutely. And you know, I remember those around the Canadians felt like he wasn't

15:35getting the love that he deserved from the scouting community last year. And this year, it's done a full 180. Like a lot of teams are like, whoa, that was a steal. Like this is a top six player. This is a grade eight, like an A grade prospect. This is a top 30 prospect currently not playing in the NHL. Right. So just to give you that idea, right? In a redraft, he goes top 15, top 10 maybe. And that says a lot. So I'm more of the top 15 kind of guy, but some scouts that I've spoken to see him as like bordering in the top 10. That has value. His value to the Canadians is to develop him that is valued to the Canadians as a trade ship. So you have that flexibility. You continue to see how he evolves. But then you also see the opportunity that's in front of you, right? Like when they drafted Jorovsky, they wanted a player with top six potential because they were going to add up to the lineup. They didn't know that they were going to make the Eastern Conference finals like 11 months later. Right. So the plan changes to a degree.

16:36I'm not saying like go full like balls to the wall and trade all your futures for current assets. But I'm just saying it like it opens you to deals. It opens you to conversations for certain players that maybe you weren't thinking about at the moment that you picked them. And I think that's where they're at here is that the better he develops, the better it is for the Canadians, one way or the other. He inserts into the lineup or that he's uses a trade ship for a player that puts you over the top and that is able to stick to your court long term. It both work out. And I think to, you know, in my opinion, in terms of their prospect pool, he is the one that has the most potential for a trade simply just because I feel like the Canadians have the re guys locked in long term in their top six on the wing and Kolkhoff field your ice love Kowski and now Ivan Demadov. You know, he could be the fourth top six winner. He could. But if there is an eventual acquisition,

17:41I'm not saying Chris Criter isn't one, but I don't think he's going to be one long term. The man is over 35 and up. But if you have choirs someone in the prime of their career that occupies that fourth top six winger spot long term, then Jorovsky would be relegated to a third line. Is that maximizing his asset potential? So that's where you sit there. So it's interesting to see where they go with this because then there also is Michael Hage. Exactly. And there could be a center. So I would bank more on the guy that you know can play center. I know that Jorovsky's played some center in the K-Chill soda, Ivan Demadov. Does it mean they're going to be centers? It just means that they're tried there for organizational needs at that time. So I think where they go is Jorovsky is going to be very interesting over the next couple of months. But again, there's no harm in seeing how he develops letting him stay there and and and marinate and continue to grow because we've seen, you know, Danila Jorov in Minnesota. He stayed an extra year. He stayed three years in the K-Chill post-raft.

18:46And now he's a can't miss top nine player. If not a top six player for Minnesota as a rookie last year. So you know, it never hurts. It never hurts to me and they come in ready and who knows? Maybe they use Danila Jorov in Minnesota as a trade ship to go and get Dylan Larkin. I get the last point, I guess, here before we wrap it up is, you know, we talk about the Ford prospects. You know, Michael Hages number one. I mean, I would think Alexander Zorovsky is the number two on the pecking order, right? I mean, we talk about Fowler, Reimbacher, Bryce Pickford, Adam Akshrem, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. But this team has doesn't have cupboards filled to the brim when it comes to Ford prospects. And I think it just emphasizes the point you made there in the answer about keeping an eye on this situation because it's interesting, right? I mean, it's a tricky spot. But again, under the context of there are no untouchables that if it helps the Montreal Canaan's,
