Tonight on the LA Report Evening Edition, Anaheim looks to create an immigration legal

defense fund.

The Dodgers are back, a preview of the season ahead.

And a new Michelin guide is out with some LA restaurant must-tries.

That's Thursday, March 26th.

I'm Julia Paskin, and this is the LA Report Evening Edition from LA's News.

The city of Anaheim is looking to partner with a nonprofit to form an immigration legal

defense fund.

Council voted this week to start the search.

The money is meant to connect families of people detained to legal professionals within

the first 24 to 48 hours of an arrest.

Anaheim's spokesperson, Mike Leister, said that the fund could help families at a critical

time.

This would just merely supplement what we do and also bring in, of course, legal professionals

and others who are currently doing this.

Anaheim's fund could range from $50,000 to $100,000.

It would supplement the city's contigo program, which helps residents affected by immigration

enforcement with rent, groceries, and other essentials.

In other news, LA Metro's board voted to approve most of the staff recommended route

for the K-line Northern Extension.

And it'll extend the K-lines route, which currently runs from Redondo Beach to Crenshaw,

up to mid-city and end at the Hollywood Bowl.

The vote followed a politically contentious week.

A compromise was reached to do additional studies of the mid-city section of the route,

and a commitment that there won't be a delay on the project.

The Dodgers begin their quest for a third world series in a row today, as Major League

Baseball's 2026 season began.

The Dodgers open the season against the Arizona Diamondbacks tonight, and are Vegas favorites

to win the World Series again.

But that'll be easier said than done.

Only two other teams, the Yankees and the Athletics, have ever won three straight championships.

But this Dodgers team is well positioned to do it.

They're returning most of last year's team while adding a big bad and slugging out field

or Kyle Tucker and a go-to closer in Edwin Diaz.

Still, they'll have a target on their back as other contenders, like the Yankees, Mariners,

Phillies, and Padres all aim to dethrone them.

But as Dodgers announcer Joe Davis said in his final call of last year's World Series,

The Academy says it's relocating from the Dolby Theatre to the Peacock Theatre at

L.A. Live for the 101st Ceremony by 2029.

That's also when its new partnership with YouTube begins.

The Dolby Theatre has hosted the ceremony since 2001.

And six L.A. restaurants have been added to the Michelin Guide, Kyle Christ reports.

The new additions include the 11-seat Corridor 109 in Melrose Hill,

which focuses on fish sourced from Japan.

Also in Melrose Hill, little fish, a sit-down version of the Echo Park original.

There's also firstborn in Chinatown, the Italian Korean pasta spot La Paba in K-town,

and Zira Uzbek Kitchen in the Fairfax District.

Last but not least, Lugia, inside the made-on market where you'll want to get the Tla Yudas.

Some of these restaurants could earn Bib Gormon or Star Awards at the annual Michelin Guide
