This is an iHeart podcast guaranteed human well we've all been there you're out to dinner
with friends and the chat comes and you're trying to figure out how to split up the bill
and then the stabbing starts it's one more thing
but before we get to that update on a story we talked about during the Armstrong and
radio show the other day I just saw so it's a second day of technology week at the White House
whatever that means and I just saw Melania walk into the west wing with a robot at her side
both came walking down this long red carpet and it reminded me have any of you yet had an interaction
with one of these really good robots I told this story from a couple of years ago when I did
has anybody else had an interaction with the top notch robot I have not now no I did it the
sphere in Las Vegas and this is now two to three years old and I'm sure it's way better now
than it was then I don't know if it was top notch but I had a robot deliver my sushi not long ago
well yeah did it knock on the door oh well you had a restaurant I was at a restaurant I came
to the table and it's a little arms one out and had chopsticks in one hand and then this tray came
out and I took my plate and yeah we've got a we've got a restaurant in my town that's had a robot
like that for a while it's an R2D2 looking thing and it's basically a tall rumba that they put
stuff on a tray and it's it's yeah there's a little gimmicker is it like a labor saving device
it seems like a gimmick in this in the case of mine yeah and then there was a tip line on my receipt
I thought that was interesting anyway yeah that it just didn't do much but oh my god they've
got a robot but the robot that I talked to at the sphere I think it was one of Teslas
had that very humanoid look I don't know why they've decided to name to make them look like people
but it had eyes in a mouth and it talked and it took questions and talked to people crowd gathered
around where are you from and then you tell them and say oh cool I love Oklahoma this time of year
it's kind of hot isn't it the robot would say to you or and it was it was creepylicious but excellent
great planes weather knowledge if I'm remembering properly you also thought it was hot oh that's
right it was a chicken it was kind of hot wow pretty pretty shapely um and a robot just walked out with
melania too so I haven't encountered one recently I'll bet we all have one in our workplace it won't
be too long there'll be one walk in the halls taking paperwork around doing stuff so I'm sure these
studies have been done but I find myself wondering because of the whole uncanny valley effect where
people are turned off freaked out by something that's almost human then why do we do it well right
exactly and I remember like going back to the twilight zone would have episodes where somebody
would reveal be revealed to be an alien or something what freaked out was there almost human but
little twist on there so I'm sure they've done the studies if I'm buying a mobile computer
that has some mechanical abilities I don't automatically need it to look like a human being no where
did that come from I don't know I don't know why they think they need to have them walk on two legs
which you know some complications to enter into it as opposed to if you had three legs it'd be
more stable I don't know why they decide to make it so human like must be something with the
marketing or something because they're counting on us and like interacting with it sex in them up
or is it just that in science fiction robots have always been portrayed as as humanoid might be
physical there's got to be an answer to that question though I'd kind of like something that's
clearly not a human like I got lost in space robot I mean it kind of had a humanish look
barely I don't know what that'd be the danger will robins will rob us that one kind of like the tin
man from Wizard of Oz more like that little bit but yeah this that robot it had two legs but it
was on a wheel base uh-huh it had like hose arms that would you know do more or less army things but
you'd never turn around like oh my god that was a I thought that was a human well I don't really
machines I know no need for face at all no need for a face at all no let alone my phrase doesn't have a
face my toaster oven doesn't have a face and I'm fine yeah so I don't I don't know the answer to
that I'm gonna do some research on it or if there's some smart AI person I can get a question
to because I would like to know why they've decided to do that it's obviously decision particularly
the face that's a good point Katie the other ones maybe you could make the argument I don't think
it's true though that two legs are the if you're gonna design some sort of movable
piece of technology I don't think you would choose two legs as the ultimate design
no it obviously has its advantages but I think four legs would be a lot better yeah
I mean like you're just a strong base with wheels yeah yeah yeah yeah any who
real quick more human they look the more they creep me out all right yeah yeah exactly
we're built that way and so don't give it eyes in a mouth in an hose and boobs like the one
that I saw on Las Vegas it's then Jack gets tempted you know huh oh yeah you can't turn off your
instincts I should have asked it that it seems from the way you're shaped that you have boobs
which are generally designed to provide milk to an infant are you going to have an infant robot
that feeds on your boob like structures do you lactate yeah I should ask that what cup size are you
what size would you want and then you say the size and they just get bigger exactly
or if I throw you some beads will you lift up your carbon fiber cover and show me those things
well they'll always be firm so the robots have that going for them okay to wrap it today this
we brought you this story the other day pretty nice restaurant trendy place in Los Angeles
brunch on a Sunday I've seen pictures of the place nice-looking neighborhood nice-looking restaurant
in fact the chef is tie-bree a California native helping blend southern influences with the
modern high energy atmosphere oh that's what I'm looking for if the high energy atmosphere
includes stabbing each other with broken bottles I guess that's a then they met that well that's
not low energy good point so you had five women kind of dressed up I mean I've seen the pictures
of them they got skirts on and strappy shoes like you know middle upper class women going out
on a Sunday we've all seen it and for some reason the bill comes and somehow an argument starts
and somebody grabs a knife and starts stabbing people and another person according to the LA
Times account of it broke a bottle over the other person's head and then there was stabbing going
with the broken bottle as we as you do in these situations I call that resourcefulness I don't
have a knife within reach what can I utilize it's clever yeah no information was available on
the relationships to one another looks just look like friends to me happened the police arrived
around five that's how I am with my friends by the way just one thing we all snap and try to kill
each other right hey hey things got stabby again tonight I feel bad I know you feel bad by
yeah right let's try this again next weekend two of the five were booked on felony charges one
remains in custody so she must have been the original I'm not paying a fifth of this took a knife
stabby stab as people do as you do hey Jim you stabbed me with a knife I slashed you with a
bottle bill tried to take out john's high with a spoon can you two shake yeah all right again
chef tie bree is trying to blend southern influences with a modern high energy atmosphere maybe
the southern influences are the dual I don't know what the influences are right maybe go with
a cuisine that doesn't require knives chef at least for a little while after the stabings the
rest don't post it on their Instagram we are aware of the incident that occurred earlier today
I'm sure they are and the situation was beyond our control I'm sure it was I'm sure
I love the spokes hole I love the official statement whether it's government or or corporate
or this restaurant oh oh oh it was not within your control see I was thinking that it was
you know stabs one get a free dessert or something today I just thank you for that idiotic
statement yes I assumed that the server had come handed her a knife and said if I were you
I'd stab her turns out it was beyond there could it wasn't in their control
um Zaya the name of the restaurant is known for its dinner and show concept the restaurant
pairs its menu with music and private event offerings cool sounds very very nice sounds like
a restaurant to me as long as nobody stabs you over the bill God there's gotta be more details
though this story if this ends up going to quarter something we're all gonna learn and that'll
be great like who said what how did it escalate I need to know more about this I don't think it will
you know you don't I'll probably I'll bet we get details on this there's a pretty good conservative
DA now in L.A. or how do you turn it whatever is formal title is I gotta think there was something
leading up to this event and this is like the final straw probably some drinking too many
although I've done a lot of drinking with a lot of people and nobody even came close to stab in
anybody are you part of a subculture that routinely settles minor disputes with physical violence
I am not okay there you go um that is I would think you know maybe all five weren't involved it could
have been just two or three that were really involved could have been just one really could have
been all self defense after the one nut job right uh do you see the video no oh they went
they were they were they were they were all in it oh I didn't know there was a video
way free well you've been way you've been holding on to this video because you guys have been talking
about it I just figured you saw no it doesn't describe it describe it uh it is five women at this
table and you can see that the conversation is getting heated and then it just explodes
I'll get the video your way and uh then do like patrons run over or waiters or
people everybody whips their phone out a couple people uh whip the phone out and then you see
a couple of waiters like try to they're not really sure because it was chaotic as it said on
their Instagram page it was beyond their control why don't we post this at armstronginggeti.com
yeah so everybody can enjoy the video goodness of course so was this video from somebody
who whipped their phone out or did they have like a camera in the ceiling in the restaurant does
look like this was phone footage gotcha I'm gonna have to find it there's nothing that happens in
public anymore that somebody doesn't get a video of it you know you got some bully beaten up a
little guy or a woman or something like that uh I'm not videotaping it I'm gonna do whatever I
can do to help right in this situation I'm breaking out my phone yeah mutual combat between lunatics
probably drunk biatcha screaming things at each other yeah I'm not getting involved in that
I wonder if they when they all settled down if they thought you know that really got out of hand
don't you think I think if you think that it never would have happened you're probably right
if I'm the bus boy as they're fighting I just come up and say excuse me does anybody want
any more water yes and then just walk away if you want to see the dessert menu
anybody's still hungry we've got great specials did you leave room well I guess that's it
