A post on her social media page says Gloria Steinem died Wednesday at her home in New York City at the age of 92. She was a celebrated author and activist and became a potent voice of the women's movement. In 1971, Steinem talked about equality of the sexes. Sex and race, because they are easy, visible differences, have been the primary ways of organizing human beings into superior and inferior groups and into the cheap labor on which the system still depends. Steinem began her career as a journalist and credits the meeting she covered in 1969, where women spoke boldly about abortion rights as changing her career path. I'm My Campan.
