I'm Mike Hempon with an AP News Minute. Serbs have headed to Belgrade as the body of a former commander lies in state. The body of Ratcoma Ladich, the Bosnian Serb commander who died while serving a life sentence for war crimes lay in state in Serbia on Monday. Thousands of mourners flocked to the small Serbian Orthodox Church of St. Luke in Belgrade to pay their respects to Meladich as the European Union warned Serbia against honoring him. Mourner Milandobritch said Meladich dedicated his life to Serbian people and that he was glad people were showing their respect to him. Meladich, who died at 84, was convicted of genocide and war crimes during the Bosnian war. The EU criticized Serbia for glorifying Meladich, with EU officials counselling visits to Serbia in protest.
