The country struck back in response to the latest round of U.S. tariffs. The tariffs hit hundreds of American products, including steel, aluminum, cheese, appliances, and farm equipment. At rates of 15, 25, or 50 percent, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carnie says U.S. demands could hollow out key Canadian industries and limit the country's independence. Republicans will gather in Dallas this week for a two-day convention, dreamed up by President Trump to rally his supporters ahead of this year's midterm elections. Republicans have never held a midterm convention before. Hurricane Lowell is expected to pass near Hawaii's westernmost islands today. Hawaii Governor Josh Green has ordered schools and government offices to close on Kauai, Nihao, and Oahu Islands. I'm Arcellas Anches.
