US stock markets were closed for the holiday while global shares were mixed. Tokyo and Seoul led gains thanks to computer chipmakers. Sisutel has a look at the week ahead. The government puts out its latest report on inflation and wholesale prices on Thursday. That's the producer price index or the PPI. Those are prices that businesses pay for goods they stock their shelves with. On Friday and even more closely watched report comes out, that's the consumer price index or CPI which tracks the prices that households pay. That index is expected to have risen 3.4 percent last month. That's still well above the federal reserve's target of 2 percent. The big question for markets will be, will inflation be hot enough to push the Fed to raise its benchmark interest rate? The Fed winds up its latest policy meeting later this month.
