I'm Hayah Punjwani with an AP News Minute, an American aircraft has gone down in Iran, AP's Lisa Dwyer. The US military has confirmed that an American aircraft was shot down in Iran, marking the first loss of an American aircraft in Iranian territory during the five-week war, according to a US and an Israeli official. One crew member has been rescued. Social media footage showed American drones, aircraft and helicopters flying over the mountainous region. Tehran is keeping up the pressure on Israel and its Gulf Arab neighbors, and it's fired on a range of targets across the Middle East today. I'm Lisa Dwyer. President Trump has proposed boosting defense, spending to $1.5 trillion in his 2027 budget. That's the largest such request in decades, reflecting his emphasis on US military investments over domestic programs. That increase for the Pentagon, some 44 percent, had been telegraphed by the Republican President even before the US-led war against Iran. I'm Hayah Punjwani.
