America is promising to send more medicines to high-need areas after receiving a $50 million gift. The donation came from an unidentified Connecticut family that's been involved with the organization for decades. Half of the money will help the nonprofit reach its goal of providing quality health care to 100 million people around the world by 2030. It also plans to increase support for US health centers and states for the expect to see more residents without health insurance. President and CEO Christine Squires says the group felt the impact of US aid cuts, but its strong donor network is helping the organization respond to more than 20 emergencies, including the floods in Nepal.
