An AP investigation has found that ICE has been hiring people with questionable qualifications.
AP correspondent Donna Warder has more.
Recently, US Immigrations and Customs Enforcement hired 12,000 new officers on special agents
to help carry out mass deportations.
But an Associated Press investigation has found that some of those hires started working
before passing background checks.
One hire failed the police academy and lasted only three weeks and his only job is a police
officer.
Another was accused of arresting a woman on false allegations while working as a sheriff's
deputy.
The incident led to a $75,000 settlement.
Another candidate had two bankruptcies and six law enforcement jobs in three years.
During a congressional hearing in February, ICE acting director Todd Lyons described his
officers as well-trained and well-vetted Donna Warder Washington.

Before we had AT&T Business Wireless coverage, our delivery GPS wasn't the most reliable.
Once our driver had to do a 14-point turn to get back on route, a 14-point turn, an influence
or even live-stream the whole thing.
Not good for business.
Now with AT&T Business Wireless, routes are updating on the fly and deliveries are on time.
And the influence it did get us 53 new followers though.
