Sarah Mollie, the Church of England's first female archbishop of Canterbury, is walking the historic Becacamino route from London to Canterbury. Ahead of her official installation next week, the 63-year-old named the 106 Archbishop last October, covers roughly 87 miles over six days from St. Paul's. Cathedral to Canterbury Cathedral. On Friday, the fourth day of her journey, she reached the 13th century Ails for Priory after trekking Riverside Pass and Greenfields and Kent. Dressed in a red jacket and hiking shoes, she carries a pilgrim staff and a scallop shell on her backpack, symbols of ancient journeys. She's traveling with her husband Eman and a small group of pilgrims, pausing at churches, schools, and abbies for prayers, and visits with local. Folks, the route traces the steps of 12th century Archbishop Thomas Beckett, murdered in 1170, whose shrine made Canterbury a medieval pilgrimage, hub.

1:02Confirmed as Archbishop in January, Mollie now leads the 85 million members of the Global Anglican Communion. Her walk marks the first time in modern history, and Archbishop has made this pilgrimage before enthronement. She expects to arrive Sunday for evening prayers, setting the stage for her March 25th ceremony at the Cathedral.
