0:00Ashton just early in the game without having the helmet to helmet communication just how challenging was that how challenging was it to have to sit there While you waited to find out if you guys were gonna play the game. Yeah, I mean, you know, I think we prepare for situations like that You know, we have a great plan, you know within our coaching staff if you know the coach player goes down And it dated and I think we handled it, you know very well communication wise And then in terms of you know just sitting in the locker room and in the delay I think we handled it great You know guys were moving around in the locker room. We had great energy You know moving around just continuing to prepare for the game and I think we handled it very well Yeah, I mean, it's you know a part of the game, you know, it's a part of the game plan I knew you know sometimes I was you know gonna have to get outside the pocket Maybe some you know design runs some design reads where I was gonna have to you know use my legs in

1:04Like you said that that's part of my game And you know, I'm not scared to be physical Especially when it's on the goal line or got to have it situations But you know, whatever my team needs for me to go out there and put us in the best position possible to win a game You know Yeah, I think it's hard to say that you didn't get the passing game going because it didn't seem like y'all tried to do a lot of passing for a lot of that game What were they taking away? Was it was it a lot of read stuff where it was RPO and they just took the P part out of it or was it were y'all being a little bit maybe conservative? Um, you know, they they do a lot of things Um, you know within their system defensively Um that you know kind of makes it a little hard You know, they're they're a heavy pressure team You know a lot of rotation and and fend safety is down in the box. Maybe the nickel down in the box You know bring in bring in some kind of you know linebacker pressure You know all that kind of stuff and um, you know, we thought you know going into it You know our run game and you know sometimes reading reading those blitzers out

2:08Would be you know pretty pretty well for us like you know for example my touchdown You know, we knew that that the the nickel was coming So we we read them out and um, you know, ended up being a touchdown, but um I mean we we got to be better on offense, you know as a whole You know running pass and everything we have to be better We didn't score enough points defense gave us an opportunity there at the end. They gave us opportunities all night And you know sometimes we missed those opportunities that you know are or got to have in games like that Six targets for juice again for the second straight game. Is that something that teams are doing to take him away and loading up to him Or is there a way that you feel like you can get him a little bit more involved in the passing game there? I mean yeah like the Sometimes the flow of the game just just goes that way um when you have a guy like him You know, they're they're gonna do everything they can to you know take him away from from us And force us you know to to use our other um, you know receivers our run game are tight ends

3:10And that's what we're expecting you know all year so we're gonna continue to um, you know dive into ways that we can get him the football Omar obviously they put up a lot of yards, but you guys made a lot of big plays to get them all back things like that Did you guys go into this game with that kind of mindset that he's gonna get his they're gonna get theirs But we just have to stay in the fight and make big plays and if that was the case how'd you feel like you guys did that? Yeah, we knew going into this game. It's a great quarterback great all around team great OC Um, we knew that they were gonna take theirs and we just had to go on to the next plate and and and attack Um, we feel like we did it we did a good good. We did a okay job. We feel like we gave away too many points way too many yards I feel like like And it came down to just one plate like the little details like standing outside or or just trusting them to coach Trusting our technique because coaches put us they prepare us well You're put us in the right the right situation the right calls We just got to go out doing do our job honestly, so that's all on us

4:16Hey, Ash and you guys converted on now just two or 15 third downs and didn't have any in the first half Just how much of that kind of changed things out there for you and why is that something you guys need to improve upon if you're gonna Get better this season. Yeah, I mean that that's a huge part of the game You're not gonna you're not gonna score points if you can't string first down together Um, and you know, especially in like I said some of those got to have its situations You know in a game that big with a really explosive offense You know, we have to go out there and convert on those third downs and we didn't do a you know good enough job of that this week So um, you know going into this by week and then obviously coming up on Alabama. I think You know, we're gonna continue to you know dive into that and put ourselves in the best physician possible If you guys you know, I know Ash and you're new here you haven't been here in the past but Um, what what were the emotions like after getting a loss and and kind of what do you what do you see from this team now Um having to kind of rebound from that with a huge game coming up in a 12 days

5:16Um, I mean We're devastated in the locker room like we know that's a game that that we should have won and we had many many opportunities to win Um, and that hurts It really does especially obviously you know being this early in the season but at the same time Um, you know, we we learn from that and we have a lot of games left. We have a lot of football left to play um, and you know I believe in this group. I believe in this coaching staff Um, and I really do think that you know, we're gonna put our heads down go to work Um, and we're gonna you know, iron out the little things that we miss here and there um, you know, and I think We all know in that locker room how good this football team can be You know The power outage everything else what is just kind of the message to a fan base that is frustrated But it's you know dedicated to what seeing this team succeed going forward I mean, it's it's a tough question um, and it's

6:21It's tough to to hear you know um when you're out there, but um, I mean all the week and I Is that they continue to trust us and you know trust this team that we have because um, you know, we we have a really special team Um, we have a really special coaching staff Um, and I don't think this one game, you know, reflects anything about this team or about the season Um, all that all that we can ask is you know that they just continue to to be with us Show up and support us. We're so thankful that this game ran into what about like 1 a.m And there's still people that that stayed out there for an hour and a half through through a power outage And we're still you know so loud and supportive and cheering us on and uh, you know That plays a big part in uh, you know, how we play a football game When we have you know an amazing fan base that's behind us and we know how amazing that fan base is and you know Obviously we want to get back to those winning ways and I know they do too, but um, it's a process and you know We're gonna continue to to push in and strive to be the best we can for this place

7:23That's not for two more go to john Oh, more over 16 yards attempt for a time for Jennings tonight on third downs Just how backwrinking is that for the defense when you guys can't get off the field like that Especially when that was an issue last week against New Mexico state Yeah, we got to find a way to get off the field on third down. Honestly those those jobs turning into points honestly, you know Whatever it is we just got to trust the call, trust the staff, trust I take me like that just falls on us like They put us in the right position. We just got to go execute Going back to you mr You know last year you guys got to a great start then once you lost the Virginia game it kind of slid As a leader on this team and as a senior like what do you guys have to do to to make sure this team doesn't that slide like it did last year Just learn from our mistakes like last year like like you said like you saw me fell off after the loss like We just got to learn like from what happened last year like Like they're called wounds.
