This Auburn team got punched, responded, and showed the type of physicality and resilience that has been missing in too many close games. After losing six one score games a season ago, Auburn was finally able to make the plays necessary to finish a tight game. That alone makes this Week 1 performance worth examining closely. The defense provided plenty of reasons for optimism. Eric Winters delivered one of the biggest moments of the game with an incredible stop on Baylor’s late two point conversion attempt. That play required effort, discipline, technique and awareness with the game hanging in the balance.
