Well, greetings and salutations, everybody. Welcome to the best Danmu Relay show on
the planter at the John Campy show. Cut me from right here in our quaint little studio.
I'm, of course, your host, John Campia. I'm joined coming all the way from the raw observatory.
One Mr. Robert Meyer Burnett. Robert, how are you doing today, sir?
Well, I'm doing well, John, one of my favorite book series. I got the new book. Can't wait
to read it by Jonathan Mayberry, the Joe Ledger series at Chad Stolesky has options to try
to a series. Ooh, that's interesting. I like Chad. I like him a lot. I, I spent last night
getting caught up on the pit. That, that show is every bit as potent in season two as it
was in season one. I'm loving it. Anyway, guys, most importantly, of course, you guys are
here. Thank you so much for being here and making our little show part of your day. And
here's how today's show is going to go. We're going to start off by talking about a bunch
of pre-determined topics we have lined up for you guys. And then the second part of the
show, well, there is no second part of the show. It's going to, it's going to be a bit
of a shorter. Now, normally we take questions from the audience, but on Friday, sometimes
we skip that section and we save the viewer questions for Monday. Just have a little bit
of a shorter show here on Friday. I mean, with Jonathan being off on Fridays as well.
So we got some topics to talk about here today. So let's get things started with this.
You know, there's a list of about six, seven, eight, nine properties that I've always
get told by people. They are desperate to see get turned into a movie or a TV series.
One of those ones is Robotech. But in that same vein, another one that gets brought up
a lot is Gundam. Oh, yeah. And now we found out a little while ago that it looks like Netflix
is indeed going to be giving us a Gundam live action movie. And they mentioned Sidney
Sweeney. It's going to be part of it. But now they just added somebody else, which is a really
interesting name to me. It's, it's an actress I've been keeping, you know, my tension on for a bit
because I just think she's got a terrific charisma on screen. And that is, and I'm,
know, I'm going to butcher her name, but she only Kutsuna has joined the Gundam series.
Now, if she looks a little bit familiar, just think of the words. Hi, Wade. She is. Uh, yes.
She's, uh, what's her name in in Deadpool, Yuki? Yeah, yeah. Yeah. So like the Yuki. Oh,
that's right. Hi, Yuki. Oh, I love her when she pops up in Deadpool. She's so delightful and
charming. But even beyond Deadpool, like, there's a show I really disliked a little bit ago. That
Ray, obviously liked, I believe it was called invasion. But she was one of the lead people
invasion. I thought she was the best part of the show. She was great in that show. Yeah. She
was great in the show. I loved her character. I loved her story. I loved the way she performed it.
I just thought she was really, really good. Anyway, now the people over at Deadline are telling us
this, uh, Kutsuna from the Deadpool franchise has landed a role alongside Sydney Swini, Noah
Centino and a Michael Mando, who of course is going to be in Spider-Man brand new day. He is
Scorpion, I believe in Netflix's live action Gundam movie from legendary sources tell Deadline.
Reps for Netflix and legendary declined comment. Both Kutsuna's role and the film's plot are being
kept under wraps for now. While Jason Clark was also being talked about to star in Gundam,
sources tell Deadline that he's since fallen off the project, which they better get a move on
because apparently production kicks off in Australia next month. All right. Now they have been
trying to get whether it's, uh, uh, Gundam or Robotech or the others of its vein of the piloted
giant robot subgenre. Uh, this is one they've a lot of people want to get for while, but I'll tell you
why Rob, this one intrigues me a little bit more than say like something like Robotech or other
things that elk. I remember having a conversation. I don't know if it was with you or not. It might have
been that one of our favorite sci-fi shows, Mutually of the last 50 years, was The Expans.
And it really did feel in many ways like the expanse was influenced a bit by Gundam because,
you know, Gundam is not really about, uh, giant battle robots. It's very much similar in the way,
like it's underlying theme is kind of similar in the way to the expanse, right? It's about
earth. It then colonizes a bunch of planets and then there's a bunch of political tension
and battling between the colonies and earth and all that kind of stuff. It's very political.
Uh, it's more character focused than one might think. And this could be really interesting.
I'm hoping that this is going to be one of the first ones. They're not saying anything about it.
This is just me hopefully speculating. I'm hoping this would be one of those ones that they decide
to bring to the big screen. All right. I mean, this is, I, I want to see a Gundam on a big screen
because I'm already super disappointed slash disgusted in Amazon for taking Voltron,
which was supposed to be a theatrical release. And then they're dumping that on streaming,
which has my boy Henry and our guy from a paradise, um,
lead actor in paradise sterling K brown, who I believe that sterling K brown is in that. And
they're dumping that. So I mean, listen, even if it just comes out on Netflix, I'm looking forward
to it. But I hope this will be one they might consider putting on the big screen.
Anyway, Rob, you're seeing this coming together. What do you think about this?
Well, John, I've been a huge Gundam fan since 79, you know, and the thing about Gundam is,
it's a, it's a war story. Like you pointed out, it's about the principality of Zion versus
earth, at least. And the thing about Gundams, here's a crazy thing. There is the, there is what's
called the universal century timeline. And that is the main Gundam timeline. And then there,
there are alternate universe Gundam stories like Gundam wing or Gundam seed. It's very,
it's incredibly expansive. But the universal century timeline is the one, the, the prime,
call it the prime Gundam timeline. And it's incredibly complex. And it's incredibly like you
said, it's political. It does have a big anti-war message. And I, everything that I've heard
about this movie leaves me a bit perplexed, as in like what, because the Gundams, Gundams are
mobile suits. And they are war machines. They're essentially tanks. The original RX-78 Gundam
looks like samurai armor, you know, going back into history. And it's, and it's, it's, it's just
to make a movie like a two hour movie about it is tough, because even the original Gundam series
was edited down into three feature films. Gundam was a failed series when it began. And it found
a great second life. And now, of course, Gunpla, the building of the model kits, I have, I probably
have like 20 Gundams here. I'm a big fan. So I mean, 20 is nothing compared to like
some people. But yeah, I'm big fan. Let's put it that way. I can't wait. But this movie
perplexes me. I'm like, what, what is this? It seems a little small that they have three cast
members announced. Well, I mean, look, I think it's just they're only announcing the three cast
members whose names everybody will recognize as household names sort of thing. I, I mean,
there are a month away from shooting. You know, I remember this is a going way back way back.
I remember, um, geez, I want to say 17, 18, 19, 20 years ago when I was still doing the movie blog,
and a story came out that I believe it was, I think it was Elijah Wood who had come on board
to produce and possibly star in a live action robo tech movie. Right. I think that was like 15 or
20 years ago that that happened. And they have been desperately trying. Then when Transformers came
out initially, people thought, oh, this will be the segue into a transform into a Gundam or a
Robocross or something like that. And they never materialized. And so I, you know what? I was in
Elijah Wood. It was Toby McGuire. Yeah, yeah. Um, and it's never materialized or came about and, uh,
it looks like we're finally going to get still. I would like to see this on the big screen.
Anyway, guys, question is for you. What do you think about this? They keep adding some pretty
interesting looking cast to it. And hopefully this will be now that Ted Cerandos has kind of
gotten a little bit of the itch for theatrical. And they've been doing more things with theatrical
over at Netflix. I'm really hoping this will be one of the things they at least give some kind
of limited theatrical least to because I would love to see this on a big screen. Whenever you guys
think about it, jump down to the comments section below and let us know your thoughts.

Best movie in theaters right now is Project Del Mary. And I just still can't get over how much
I love it. You know, even last night, as Anne and I were, you know, every time we get about 10,
15 minutes before getting ready to go to bed, we'll just do some scrolling on YouTube on the TV.
And we went down this rabbit hole of looking at just clips from Project Del Mary. And Rob,
I don't know if you saw it, but there's a new little promo they put out where it's Ryan Gosling.
It's just shot TikTok style vertical. It's Ryan Gosling in his own living room, napping on the couch.
And Rocky comes into screen and say, Rocky, watch Ryan sleep.
Human scroll, scroll, scroll too much. Go see Project Del Mary. And like, is Ryan sleeping?
It's, it was just, it's adorable. So we just, we went down this rabbit hole of just watching this
and going through all these Project Del Mary things. Absolutely love it. Well, listen,
it opened to over $80 million. Almost double with the original long-term projections were for it.
And it's, it's doing great. I mean, it's not doing an Avengers level, but I didn't even think
it would do as well as it's doing. It's Amazon's biggest hit so far. I believe it's the biggest
opening of Ryan Gosling's career. And when you get numbers like that, obviously the studio is
going to be very, very keen and interested in doing a sequel. One of the problems, though, is that
the author of Project Del Mary and the Martian and Artemis has never written a sequel before.
It has never done that and has made some comments that suggest that he's kind of against the idea
of sequels. Well, when you make the kind of money the Project Del Mary makes, it can be motivating
because it looks like Project Del Mary a sequel could potentially be in the cards. This comes
just from the Hollywood reporter who said the following soon, Amazon, Amazon MGM will be able to
reap the full benefits of having a worldwide footprint. That also includes a potential hair,
Mary sequel. While there are no official conversations underway between Weir and Amazon MGM,
Insiders confirm a sequel is not out of the question. The merchandising potential of Rocky,
played by James Ortiz, is substantial. No kidding. And already has like four things with Rocky on it.
Anyway, both Amazon MGM and reps for Weir declined comment on a follow-up book or movie sequel,
but sources close to MGM stress that Weir is in the driver's seat. The acclaimed author has never
penned a sequel to one of his books before. And he is currently working on a mysterious new novel
that is unrelated to Project Del Mary. But he has said he is toying with the potential
of a of sequel ideas, though he does not have anything solid enough for a book yet. Both Weir and
Gosling are rep by CAA. Listen, Rob, I'll go out on a limb right now. There is going to be a
Project Del Mary too. I have, I just have no doubt. Like when this kind of money, and it's not
just money, when it, this kind of money, and this type of love, because what we've seen,
we haven't seen this for a movie in a, in a little bit. It's been a couple of seconds since we've
had a movie where it just seems like there's this universal love for the film. And obviously Rocky,
and so much potential at the end of it for what's the next chapter of this story? Where does it go
from here? All, when, so when you've got all that potential money, the universal belovedness,
and an ending that completely leaves you open that they're the continuing stories of Rocky and
Grace, I would say this, I will be stunned, stunned. If we get to the end of 2028, and we don't
have a Project Del Mary, either fully officially announced or in production at that time, and you know
what? I'm all for it. Now, I can already hear some people saying it doesn't need another one.
Guess what? We never needed the first one. It's a story that gives us an experience and makes us
feel feelings and makes us think thoughts, and you can do that with a sequel. Do we need a sequel?
No, but we didn't need the original either. So I'll leave that at that. So I 100% think this is
indeed going to happen. Anyway, Rob, you read the story in the Hollywood reporter. So I guess it's
really two questions. Number one, do you think they will get around to giving us a Project
Del Mary 2? And then a second completely separate question is, do you think they should do a Project
Del Mary 2? What do you think? Well, I look, I think that in a way, it's kind of like to go back and
look at ET. Thank God, there was a book sequel to ET, but there was never a sequel movie sequel to ET.
But of course, it was a huge back then. It was it was the most successful movie of all time.
I can see them like, I don't know how you would do it. I mean, obviously, I don't know what
what a story would be and obviously you would want it like grace, the story of Grace and Rocky,
or you could make a totally different, a new mission, a new Hail Mary, some other kind of scenario
that doesn't even involve Grace and doesn't even involve like what if somebody came to Earth,
hearing what humanity did for the people from the Rocky's planet. So look, we need to hear it.
Yeah, they're going from Eradani or whatever. I mean, what if aliens showed up and asked for
humanity's help, you know, and that was this, I don't know what it would be, but I could definitely
see them doing some kind of a sequel. I could see that I don't necessarily know that they should.
I mean, obviously, it depends on how much money the movie's going to make. It's doing very well,
across $100 million domestic. It'll probably cross $200 million worldwide this weekend. So
but I don't know, man, I sometimes think some stories have beginning, middle and ends. So, but
you know, Rocky and Rocky and Grace, they're kind of like Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire,
who wouldn't want to watch movies where they star in them together.
Now, listen, I'm seeing so predictable. I'm seeing some comments in live chat like,
oh, there's no need for a sequel. There's no, you know what? They said the same thing about the
Godfather too. How'd that turn out? They said the same thing about Toy Story 2. How'd that turn out?
I mean, like, like, it feels like every time there's any kind of a sequel mentioned,
it's like, well, we don't need it. Well, you never needed the first one either.
There was no need for it, but they did it. And then some people say, well, don't do a sequel,
because there's only one book. Well, obviously, they would only do another one if Mike Weir
wrote another book. If Mike Weir wrote another book, well, you know, then you take that and you
don't do it because, you know, I guess the option would be there that they could just
license the rights to the property from Mike Weir and then write their own project,
tell Mary 2. I would say don't do a project, tell Mary 2 unless Mike Weir writes a book about it.
Like if Mike Weir writes the book, I don't even know Mike Weir. Oh, no, he was a famous Canadian
golfer. That's why I said that. Anyway, how famous could he be if nobody here has heard about him?
I don't know. Take that as it will. So yeah, I mean, if he could write a story about these
beloved characters, and look, I've said it before I'll say it again, I would watch 45 minutes of
just Grace and Rocky in a lab together talking about life and science and mates and whatever.
I would totally be now for a kiss to me. It's about the characters. You know, Rob, I've said on the
show a bunch of times that like, take for example, supernatural. I don't necessarily think many of
the storylines in like the final 10 seasons of supernatural were necessarily all the best storylines,
but I was still obsessed with the show because I love the characters. I love just spending time
with the characters and the dynamics of their relationships. And I just loved that. And you can
bring that to something like a project, tell Mary with a sequel to follow up with Grace and Rocky
and all that kind of stuff. I would totally be down for it. If Mike Weir, get it? If Andy Weir
actually came up with an idea and a story that became the logical flow. To me, it's Grace's
journey home. It's finding the state, the earth is in great that the sun's got its luminance back,
but there are still problems they need to deal with. Here's another one. This is one and and I
talked about. Hey, great. Rocky, Grace, save stars. You saved two of them. According to Project
Tale Mary, all the other suns in the in the known galaxy were also dying. That could cause other
problems. There's just so many places I think you could go. So I yeah, yeah. And here's the other thing.
I think Andy Weir, when I watch interviews with him about this, there's something special about
Project Tale Mary to him about this particular story that I just picked up from him that I
never necessarily got from him when he would talk about the Martian, which I love the Martian.
I do too. But he seems to have a connection to this story more than most. And I think he'd be
opening to revisiting it. I really do. And I think it would be great if he did. That's yeah.
Anyway, guys, question is for you. What do you think about this? According to sources
in Amazon MGM, Amazon MGM want to do it. And Andy Weir is actually open to the idea of writing
another Project Tale Mary, which I think would be awesome because it's very rare that we come across
characters like Grace and Rocky. And I would love to have more stories with those characters. Anyway,
guys, whatever you think about it, jump down to the comments section below and let us know your
thoughts. All right, guys, with that down, let's talk about this.
The Sun will rise. Rain will fall. You're going to pay taxes and streaming services increase
the prices of their service. These are all immutable truths in life. And Netflix has just announced
their raising prices again. This is the holiday reporter is saying the ad supported
tier will raise by one dollar a month while the standard and preview plans raised by another two
dollars per month. They write the following Netflix is hiking subscription prices across all
its plans and its first major price increase in more than a year. The plans are disclosed on
Netflix's help page Thursday. The ad supported tier will rise by one dollar. Actually, let's go over
and take a look at this chart. So the ad supported tier was eight dollars. You pay to watch commercials.
I'll never understand that. I don't understand that. You pay to watch commercials. Anyway,
you're paying eight dollars to watch commercials. Now,
lucky you, you now get to pay nine dollars a month to watch commercials. If you're somebody who
believes your time is worth something and you have like the standard plan, it was 18 dollars,
90 more. Now it's 20 bucks. And if you're lucky enough to have the premium plan,
you were paying $25 a month. You are now paying $27 a month. What is not mentioned in the Hollywood
reporter story is that the charging for password sharing has also gone up.
If you now are somebody who gets to share the password of somebody on the ad supported plan,
you go from $7 or you go up to $7 a month, which is up a dollar. And if you were somebody who
is using the ad free plan, you're now up to $10 a month, which is also up by one dollar.
I want to put this into some perspective for you. See if I can just double check and find this.
In 2021, let me bring this screen back up here. So ad supported nine bucks, standard 20 premium 27.
In 2021, the basic ad free, because remember back in 2021, it was all ad free was $8.99.
You had a standard ad free Netflix plan for the same price that you now tomorrow are going to be
paying for a plan that includes commercials. What was known as their standard plan at the time,
the standard now ad free, while today it is now or as of today is now $20. Just five years of 2021,
that price was $14. Now 20 was 14 just in 2021. The premium, which is now $25.
25 bucks in 2021 was $18. $18. Just in 2021 alone. Now of course, what the folks at Netflix will
tell us and there's truth to it. They don't get me wrong. There's absolutely truth to it.
Is, you know, cost to create content goes up. Netflix is saying in 2026, they are going to spend
$20 billion in content. 20 billion, they're going to spend in content. We also have the
Gina Carano Ronda Rousey fight coming that they've got to pay for. So they'll say that
when we feel we have increased the quality of the channel, we will increase prices,
which is not an unreasonable assertion. But let me ask you something. From just 2021 till now,
has Netflix gotten $7 a month better than it was just in 2021? I contended it has not.
I think it's a little bit better than it was in 2021. I don't think it's $7 a month better
than it was just in 2021. And here's where it really starts to pinch your testicles.
Netflix is kind of the bar setter. So once Netflix does this, you know that every other streaming
service is about to match because they all want to stay $4 below Netflix. And if Netflix goes
up a couple bucks, they're all going to go up a couple bucks. Rob, I still remember the first
time. It was a few years ago. I also remember the first time when I added up all my streaming services
and I was paying like over $75 a month. That same thing now is getting close to $115 a month.
And I always think back to when streaming was just in its very, very early infancy. It was
really more still just an idea. And everybody said, it's going to be glorious. We're going to have
all this choice. And it's going to be a fraction of what cable costs us. And I bought into that
height. And I remember getting into a debate with somebody who said, you guys are idiots,
you know, once this all streaming comes, it'll start. It's like a drug dealer giving your first
bump of cocaine. It's going to be cheap at first. But very quickly, it's going to be just as
expensive as not more expensive the cable. And then people like me said, nah, you're just being salty.
You're just being salty that the old models being done away with. Well, here we are who looks foolish
now. And listen, I get it. We get a lot of content for what we get on Netflix. We really do. There's
a lot of content, a lot of its crap, but there's a lot of good stuff on on Netflix too. But man,
this idea we are now closing in on like if you want to get the premium one, we're closing in on
30 bucks a month for this thing. And you know what? Here's the real big problem. When you get as
big as Netflix, when almost everybody you know has Netflix, they honestly get into a position.
I'm not saying they're doing this. I'm just saying you could be in a position where you go, yeah,
we're going to raise it by 10 bucks. What are you going to do about it? What are you going to cancel?
Be the only one of your friends that doesn't have Netflix? I don't know. I don't know. And I wouldn't
sweat $1 or $2 price increases. But I'll tell you what Rob, I've left gyms that like every nine to
10 months started increasing my monthly dues by a buck two bucks three bucks. It's like because
that really quickly starts to add up again, just like I said, just from 2021 till now, we've gone from
18 bucks to 27 bucks. So what's it going to be three years from now? I wish there was some kind
of commitment from streaming services to say, look, I get it. As time goes on, inflation goes up,
prices go up. They're going to have to adjust prices as we go. I get it. But getting these types
of price increases five to 10% every single year is not sustainable. So I don't know. Rob, you
saw the article Netflix increase in the prices. You heard their justifications for it. They're not,
by the way, their justifications, Rob, are not completely unreasonable. They are spending more
on content. They're going to spend $20 billion a year this year on content. They are the biggest
game in the town. I'm not taking any of that away from it. I just feel like five to 10% price
increases every single year or what feels like every single nine to 10, 11 months isn't sustainable.
I don't know. What do you think about this whole thing? Well, look, I mean, obviously,
we've been talking about this now for years. It's sort of inevitable. But what the real problem
John is not just Netflix and streaming services. It's everything else. I still use wirecasts
to do my own YouTube show. Wirecasts, I bought my software. They have now converted over to a
subscription only. Oh, I didn't know. I used to use wirecasts too. I don't want to wirecast.
You turn me on to wirecasts. I didn't only want to a subscription. They went to
and so it's every year, it's you either pay $99 a month or $600 for the year.
Now, I paid $600 to buy the software and I've been using it. But you don't have a choice.
Mine converted automatically. My software converted automatically. So it's time to go to OBS,
brother. It's time to go OBS. I'm telling you. I know. And I'm just like, how does that happen?
And this is happening all across the board. My Adobe creative suite for my editorial software.
They're charging for every AI programs. You want to use opus AI or opus cut whatever.
Everything is incredibly expensive. And these subscriptions, especially for people that do what we
do, whether we're on YouTube or whether we're doing editorial of any kind, everything becomes
subscription based. And the subscriptions are just skyrocketing across the board. So eventually,
it's not just streamers, but everyone's going to have to figure out like you can't keep
raising prices across the board on everything. And it all comes down. I know everybody wants to make
their bottom line and make more money. But how far is that going to go before consumers just don't
have the cash to keep up with all these rising subscription costs? And what are we getting for it?
I mean, it's the I have the same wirecast that I had six years ago. And they're making me pay
$99 a month unless I who's got an extra $600 in this economy to just pay for a year's subscription
subscription for something. And that's what they do. If you pay up, if you pay up up front,
you get a discount, obviously. But it's not surprising. But Netflix is still worth it, though.
I think that Netflix is still worth it. The amount of time I spend on Netflix, there's always
something to watch because they have such a deep breadth of material. So Netflix is something
that unfortunately I'll shell out the bucks for. Yeah, look, and that's something that I've said
every like for the last couple of years, every time like price increases for things like Disney
Plus or Netflix, my fallback has been it sucks that they raised the price again. But is it still
good value for your money? If you're getting 10 hours of entertainment a week out of it, 40 hours
a month for 19 bucks, is that still a half decent value proposition? And I've stood on that for a
long time. And I agree with you. Right now, I believe standard ad free Netflix is worth
1999 a month with the amount that I mean, and uses Netflix more than I do, but I watch Netflix
a bunch and and watches it a ton. So at 1999 a month, it's still a not bad value proposition.
The problem though is Rob, like I've been saying that since 2021, but the price of that plan has
gone up seven bucks since then. And that value proposition that I keep talking about is shrinking.
And at some point, they're going to get to that precipice where it crosses the line of being
still a value proposition to we got to start asking the question, is it worth this? I agree with
you. Right now, it still is. Right now, it still is. But but that margin is shrinking. And we are
going to start to have the conversation in the next year, two, two, three years about, is it worth
that price anymore? And then they're going to wonder why piracy is going to start picking up again.
They're going to start wondering about that. You know, I can't remember the name of the box,
but even I, I was looking at some YouTube videos about these boxes that you can get that are kind
of like Roku's kind of like Apple TVs, kind of like Google Chromecast, except it's got like
access to all the movies and all the TV shows. And I'm like, that can't possibly be legal,
but you can buy them on Amazon. It's like, even I who am so against piracy, even I have to admit,
I'm just, I'm just being real with everybody. Even I looked at those YouTube videos and went,
should I, and I didn't, I didn't, but even I was like, should I? Should I? Because these things

let's talk about this. You know, it was with great joy amongst the people
when they dropped that first little segment teaser of Avengers Doomsday and revealed to the world
something that a lot of people already knew that Chris Evans was coming back as Steve Rogers
into the MCU and it was great. Well, you might have woken up today to have seen a bunch of headlines
all over place saying Chris Evans has confirmed. And I know a lot of you have seen these headlines
because a whole crap ton of you wrote to me about it this morning saying Chris Evans has
personally confirmed that he is returning for Avengers Secret Wars after Doomsday. And it's all
over the place. There is a little problem with that though. It's questionable. It's questionable
because of where this came from. People are saying it came from Chris Evans. Maybe it did,
but as you're about to find out, maybe it didn't. This comes us from the folks over at movie web
who talk about where this came from. Instagram user, comic, com mom, um, see who I think had like
55 followers, something like that. Anyway, posted a real featuring audio from a message that she
received from MCU regular Chris Evans asking himself what he could tease from his MCU return,
which will start start with a role in Avengers Doomsday. He teased that he would be returning once
again for secret wars. While there is a chance the message could be fake, he seemed to reveal that
he will begin work on secret wars in a couple of months in this. I watched the video and she said
listen to this message Chris Evans left me and she didn't show the show him saying it she just
played the audio in which you could hear Chris Evans saying I can't give secrets. I can't what
I can't what can I give you though? I can tell you that I start work on the next one in a couple
of months. I can tell you that. Okay. There is a you know, of course, that's juicy sounding. So
all the outlets are running with Chris Evans confirms he's going to be in Avengers secret wars.
But we have to ask the question was that legitimate? She does not claim this Instagram user does not
claim to no Chris Evans. She said that her husband like got a message from Chris Evans for kind
of like a cameo thing. Are you familiar with that cameo thing Rob? Yeah, yeah. So love you can
and celebrities will do cell phone messages for your son. Yeah. Yeah. You know what? I actually
think it's a hoot. I think that thing is great. I think is I even got my buddy of mine Ryan who
you you know Ryan. He has lifelong crush on Jennifer Love Hewitt. And a bunch of years ago I actually
got him a Jennifer Love Hewitt cameo on it. So that that was pretty cool. I do. So it kind of
sounds like one of these cameo things that maybe her husband got for her. But Chris Evans is I
went look today Chris Evans is not on cameo. So she doesn't give me she does say though I'm just
going to play you the audio because I don't want to show you the video and have you guys all pick
it apart. So it's like so people could see that it's fake. I don't know. So look I after going
through all of it. Looking at covering the social media stuff and everything there's two
things that I believe are facts. Which is really just an opinion. But there are two things that I
believe are facts. Number one. This thing is fake. That's the first thing. I believe this is fake.
Well faked. Well done fake. And by the way, I don't think the woman who this is coming from her
Instagram. I don't think she orchestrated. I think she believes it's a message from Chris Evans.
But I believe it's fake. The second fact I believe thing that I think is a fact and I believe
is that despite the fact that that things fake. Of course Chris Evans is going to be an avenger's
secret wars. Yeah. Of that I have no doubt. I have absolutely no doubt that the beating heart
and soul of the MCU Chris Evans is Steve Rogers is absolutely going to be back. Again, I I think
the message is lady got was fake. I don't think she's fake. I just think the message she got was
fake. And maybe I'm wrong. I don't know that for a fact. But my belief is that that was a totally
fake thing. And so all these headlines. I think it's inaccurate. However, the end result like
somebody could come to me and say, Oh, I don't know. Jesus told me that the LA Dodgers are going to
win the world series again. Well, I can think that's complete nonsense. And yet still believe
that the Dodgers are going to win the world series again this year. So I mean, that's kind of the
situation for me. I don't think this this headline is real. However, I do think the underlying truth
of it that Chris Evans will be back in secret wars. Well, because Rob,
you know, you and I know very, very little if anything at all about secret wars other than what
we know about the comics. Yeah. I mean, I like I told you I reread the the omnibi on recently.
But I don't think either you or I have any doubt whatsoever. Like, why would you bring back Chris
Evans as Captain America in Doomsday? And then the true showstopper secret wars. You don't have
him in that. So I can't be so two questions for you. Question number one. Do you think this
voice message from Chris Evans is legit? Question number two. Regardless of the legitimacy,
do you think Chris Evans will be in Avenger Secret Wars? Start with question number one.
Well, it's a little dubious. You know, the origins of this message are a little dubious. Like,
I would I need more context if you want me to believe it. But I could see him. Let's just assume
if it was, he doesn't say anything that we wouldn't know because anybody who's at all familiar.
I mean, the secret wars event, the Hickman secret wars from 2015, which is what they're basing
this on, was a huge event that involved all Marvel heroes. And so it, I mean, literally after the
incursions, Dr. Doom uses the power of the beyonders and recreates one universe with battle world,
where all the Marvel characters are on it. And they don't remember who they are, although if you do.
And it's all, it's all of that story. So why wouldn't he be in it? I would think that
everybody is going to be going to be in secret wars. And why bother introducing Chris Evans as
Captain America if they're just going to abandon him in their moment of need, which is what happens
in secret wars. I'm really curious. I'm more curious to, um, to see how they handle that. Like,
I'm really curious how these handles secret wars. I don't know how they're going to do it.
It's going to be really interesting. You know, we're going to see God Emperor Doom and his
white outfit on the throne. I have no idea. But I hope we see all that cool stuff. So I think
absolutely Chris Evans is going to be in secret wars. I don't see why anybody would think that he
wouldn't be. But as for the message, I'm dubious, John. But it doesn't, it's not out of the realm of
possibility that he would confirm. Uh, he's just answering a question because the reality would be
that, yes, they have to start shooting soon. And he probably never thought about the fact that
people wouldn't have thought he was going to be in it. Right. Yeah. Of course I'm going to be in it.
Let's take this opportunity then. And I think this question will probably come up every couple of
days. We are now, huh, let's see 12, 17 days away from Sinema Khan, which you and I are going to.
So we've talked about it before, but it feels like every few weeks we should bring it up again.
I am of the belief that we are going to get an Avengers Doomsday trailer at Sinema Khan.
If, if nothing else, then at least like maybe a three or four minute sizzle,
then maybe they don't release publicly. But I, I think they're going to drop an Avengers Doomsday
trailer at Sinema Khan that will then probably go out to the world. And I base that simply on that
Doomsday has already low key done a soft launch of the marketing campaign with the little
four segments and chair watch. By the way, do you remember yesterday was the one year anniversary of
chair watch? Crazy. Anyway, it's been three months since they dropped those character. Has it been that
long since the car? We're mid March and they started. We'll tour the end of December and we're
end of end of March. And they did this at end of December. You know, they started doing it with
avatar. And so we're a, we're a, we're 25% closer to the release of Doomsday than we were
when they did. I mean, that's, we'll be about eight months out. We'll be about eight months out
by the time we get to Las Vegas. And so, and just every year, Disney brings the goods, man.
They always bring the goods, whether it was full screenings or early screenings of Shang
Chi, whether it was showing us the first 35 minutes of Dr. Strange, the multiverse of madness,
whether it's bringing out high profile people on stage. I think we are going to get that. You
know, somebody in the live chat is just saying, what about, yeah, this is also possible too. What
about the first five minutes of Doomsday? Several times Rob at Cinemacon, Disney says, we're
going to show you the first 18 minutes of this. We're going to show you the first 21 minutes of
this. Like it feels like every year they do that. So whether it's like the first five minutes,
the first 20 minutes, whether it's a trailer, I believe we are. I think it's trailer. I think
we're going to get a Doomsday trailer at Cinemacon. How are you feeling about that right now?
I think 100% we're going to get a trailer at Cinemacon. I mean, how would you not,
we try and explain this, but it's four people who own cinemas. You know, and they want to
excite those people and look, Disney believes, and rightfully so, that they have the biggest
movie of not just this year, but probably since the last Avengers movies came out in 2019.
This is it. This is the biggest movie that has come out in the last seven years.
And I think they want to start marketing the heck out of it. And so I think for sure, 100%
we're either going to get a trailer, which I absolutely believe, and I wouldn't be surprised if
we get a trailer and something else, whether it's a scene, whether it's a sizzle, whatever it's
going to be. I mean, they're going to pull out all the stops. They have the biggest movie of the
year. And see, the thing is, even people, if you were to ask most people about an Avengers movie,
like we who are in the movie blog sphere, whatever, we can be critical of the MCU, but I don't think
that the general movie going population is going to be anything less than giddy and over the moon
when they see the trailer for this movie. No one's going to sit there and go, oh, it's not good.
There's never been an Avengers movie that was bad. So why wouldn't people be excited?
I agree. All right, guys, question is for you. What do you think about this? Do you believe
the little Chris Evans recording? I don't, but I do believe the underlying truth of it that I do
believe Chris Evans is going to be in secret worse. And what do you think? Do you think we are now
just mere weeks away from getting that Doomsday trailer? I think we are. I think we're going to
get it at Simmucon. Nobody, I have not talked to Kevin Feige. Nobody's told me that. I could be
absolutely wrong, but that's what I think. Anyway, whenever you guys think about all that,
jump down to the comments section below and let us know your thoughts. All right, guys.
And that will do it for today's installment of the John Campius show. Hey, guys, just so you know,
keep your eyes on the YouTube channel a bit later. I'm going to be publishing probably in
just a couple hours from now my newest editorial, which is going to be and please do check it out.
I think it's going to be very eye-popping. We're going to be looking back now that Lord Miller
have talked, have kind of hinted the other day that they might be willing to come back and do their
flash movie they're going to do. We're going to take a look back and look at the absolute 10-year
disastrous journey it was to get that flash movie to the screen. And I hope you guys will check out
that video. It's going to go up in just a couple hours from now. I want to thank, of course,
writer, director producer Robert Meyer-Bernett. Great job as always, my friend.
Great to be here. Great to be here. We'll talk to you again on Monday,
looking forward to having you back. And most importantly, of course, guys, thank you for being
here and making our little show part of your day. You guys honor us by doing that. I know there's
tons of other things you can be doing than spending time with us. Nobody's over here just talking
about movies, but we're awfully glad that you do. And thanks for joining us. We hope to see you
get on Monday. They'll do it for us for now, guys. Thanks a lot for being here. And until next time,
my friends, bye-bye.
