Calgary Flames capped in McHale Backland, nashed his 230th National Hockey League career goal, Saturday night against the New York Islanders. The tally came early in the third period at UBS Arena when Backland tipped the shot from Oli Mayet, who earned his 200th career point on the play was set up help from Kevin Ball. That goal snapped the Flames Scorn drought and pulled them within two at three to one. Backland now sits 5th on the Flames all-time goal list, passing Kitt Nielsen for the spot. Earlier this week against the New Jersey Devils, Backland hit his 600th career point with a third period goal tying Nielsen on the franchise. Leaderboard, at that point, Blake Coleman added a late goal for Calgary, but they fell three to two.
