In the “Tower of Conviction” arc of Berserk, Guts and Casca arrive in the village of Albion, under the sway of a sect led by the fanatic Mozgus. During this arc, a deformed infant is absorbed by an apostolic egg, an empathic demonic creature that seeks to connect with this equally rejected being. At the same time, the Apostles, demonic entities affiliated to the God Hand, sow chaos and terror in the village.
