Bears Running Backs Back for Week One | NFL News

About this episode

Bears’ running back duo D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai are both back at practice ahead of Week One, delivering a huge boost to their offense. Swift’s earlier cramp scare turned out to be minor, while Monangai—out since mid-August after knee hyperextension—returns just days before the opener against Carolina. Though not yet cleared for game action, his presence signals a major step forward for the backfield, which had been relying heavily on this one-two punch. With other key players like Rome Odunze sidelined, having Swift and Monangai healthy means the Bears aren’t scrambling into the season—they’re poised to execute their game plan from day one.

On September 8th, alright, so the Chicago Bears got some good news on the running back front. Both the Andre Swift and Kyle Mornin Guy were back at practice Monday, which is clutch considering we're heading into week 1. Swift had a scare last Thursday, look like he was in some serious pain, but it turned out to be just cramps. That's a huge relief for their starting back. Now, Mornin Guy's return, that's maybe even bigger. He hadn't practiced since mid-August after hyper extending his knee, and they were calling him week to week. He missed a good chunk of training camp, so seeing him back on the field with the season opener against the Carolina Panthers just days away is a massive development. Before this, the Bears were looking at a potential issue if either of these guys couldn't go. Mornin Guy, a seventh round pick, really carved out a role for himself, showing he could handle the load. They were counting on him and Swift to be a strong 1-2 punch, so having them both ready gives the offense a much better chance to execute there. Game plan.

While Mornin Guy is back practicing, it doesn't automatically mean he's clear for game action. The official injury report comes out Wednesday, and Monday's practice was pretty light. Still, getting him back this close to the opener is a major step in the right direction for the team's backfield. This is especially important with other guys like Rome, Odunze, also dealing with injuries. Having Swift and Mornin Guy healthy and available means the Bears aren't walking into week 1 scrambling to figure out their running game. It just puts them in a much stronger position to start the season. Football News, powered by AI. This is NFL News Today.
