Bears Sign Devin Bush: Smart Move or Overpay?

Profl of Ball Focus recently named the Chicago Bears signing linebacker Devon Bush as one

of the top seven moves in the 2026 NFL Free, agency, period.

They ranked it highly over other Bears deals, like grabbing cornerback Kobe Bryant or trading

wide receiver DJ Moore for a second round pick.

Bush signed a three-year deal worth $30 million, which PSF called a very good value compared

to their projected three-year 36 million dollar contract.

His 2025 PFF grade was 87.6 with a wins above replacement of 0.26.

He steps right into replaced Tremaine Edmonds, whom the Bears just released.

Bush revived his career with the Cleveland Browns, posting back-to-back seasons with overall

grades above 79.

As PSF's ninth ranked free agent, he allowed just a 69.3 pass rating in coverage last year,

second best among linebackers.

Fans and analysts see this as a smart way to keep the Bears' defense strong without breaking

the bank.

The 10th overall pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2019, out of Michigan, Bush bounced

back after a rough patch.

Pittsburgh declined his fifth-year option.

Then he was a reserve with the Seattle Seahawks before thriving in Cleveland on one-year deals.

Bush brings speed to Dennis Allen's defense at linebacker, where the Bears needed a boost.

Last season, he started all 17 games, tying career highs with 125 tackles, three interceptions,

including two pick-sixes, and leading the league with 164 interception return yards.

Many expect him to build on that in 2026.
