This hour is brought to you by Cars 4 Kids. Speagle at home. Afternoons on the score. I got the best coach in the world. Let's put it that way. And we have the best coaching staff in the world. And so you put the talent, the coaches and the people that care. You can strive for anything. You can reach anything. You can go after any goal. And when you go out there in a football field. Your belief is at all time high between players, between coaches. And you know, you have outcomes like this. At such a well-chosen sound bite, unsurprisingly, by a guy. Chris Tannihill, Grant Leader back at the shop. Tannihillex Kuhn out here, Conor O'Donnell out here, and CS out here. As me and Ryan McGuffee speaks and guff on the Spiegel in home show.
Broadcasting live from Gallagher Way. Tannih, that was the week that was right after. Yeah, so that was after the Packers come back. The big victory into Packers came back from the deficit. Yeah, it's 20 US there. There were two of them and they were close proximity. One was in the postseason. One was just before Christmas that being that after just after the Christmas, the DJ Moore walkoff touched down and over time. Yeah, that was after that. But they were both at Soldier Field. They were both at Soldier Field. Yeah, I can see the truth. That are two of them happened? Yeah, twice. Even people in Milwaukee. Even people in Milwaukee get confused by that. Did you know that? Like even like radio people in Milwaukee, like everybody gets confused. Because there were two of them. So it's just hard to keep track. And I understand that. What a good time for that with the Brewers in town. We're here to help those people. Thank you. Yeah, you know, but the, I'll tell you what, that week when Caleb said that, and I think it was the same week when Ben kind of shook his head and said,
he's just clutch. He kind of threw up his hands and was like, he's just clutch. Like he's a gamer or like he figures out away. I'm paraphrasing. But like that moment when they both kind of said that about each other, Caleb goes, I got the best coach in the world. And Ben goes, he's just clutch. It's like their thing got cemented. And now it just colors everything when I hear them talk about each other and watch it. I pinch myself. I'm still trying to think of charge saying, get a bear. Take Caleb. Like, how are we all of a sudden in a luxury of riches here in the office? Yesterday, your Ben Johnson talk about Caleb. And said, last year he was goofy at times. Yeah. And then involved into, no, now he's taking the craft as seriously as possible. Like the relationship between the two of them is special. It's special. And it's what you dream of. I didn't want to say perfection because they're not, but it's pretty damn close to a town that's never had it.
Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and say that luxury of riches is not what you were going for. No, I appreciate you bringing that back, though. I was hoping Tanya would be the guy, but well, I'm always here. I'm always here to help. I need correct to write it. Yeah, well, he's the writer. He's the writer. No, but of course, I know exactly what you mean. That's what you dream of. That's what we've wanted our whole lives. Let's hear Ben Johnson talking about Caleb Williams. And after that, we got to get to something you pointed out. Those some of those Caleb quotes on his eventual contract because it's it bears discussion. But here is Ben Johnson speaking about Caleb Williams and his evolution. Yeah, yeah, I've seen a very composed person every time he steps into the building. This guy, you know, might have had a little bit of goofy to him a year ago. And I use that term with love. And now you just see a more serious player and intent every time I'm around him.
And I think his teammates feel that as well. You know, he's getting to the practice field early. He's making sure his part is taken care of. He's warmed up. He's ready to go. He's staying after with the guys after practice. I think you guys see that on a regular basis. And so he's taking a lot of pride in his approach right now. And it trickles down to everybody around him. I think it's a great thing. And so I think he's a grow up and he's going to be a huge leader for us this year. I think that I need to find goofy in that case. In that context, I'm serious. Yeah, no, I mean, I say that lovingly. And it's like, no, it's just that when we step on the grass, you can kind of just see it. Like he's locked in. He's got his blinders on and he's only concerned about doing his job at a high level. And there were some times where maybe a year ago you get sidetracked or distracted a little bit. And yet this year that has not been the case. This guy is he's serious about about his approach, his job and making sure he's taking his game to the next level.
With everything you just said about Caleb, is he growing like vocally more as a leader like you hear his voice or in the back field amongst his teammates? Yeah, I think so. You know, he's I think he's getting to the point now when things aren't right. Like he gets pissed off, which which I think that's what the best ones do. He's really hard on himself first and foremost. And so he gets upset with himself. But now it's to the point where if we if we're that close and somebody didn't get his death or ran the wrong number of steps or whatever that is, he's not afraid to let him know. And I think he's earned that right with with how he's played over the last year and a half. And we said like that Ryan Ryan mentioned this morning that he seemed to super in this camp from Caleb that maybe it was president of your glasses figuring everything out. What have you observed from just sort of that animated nature when he makes a big play and he's just into it. Yeah, no, he's 100% right. There's a there's an excitement with him when he plays football. And I felt that from the first day I was in the building. He just he loves this game. He wants to be great. We know that.
And then now he's getting to the point where that excitement is really radiating outside and the people around him feel that. I think that also goes with the comfort level. He knows what he's doing. He's executing it at a much higher clip than he ever has and I think it's going to continue to grow and. And he's going to continue to elevate everyone around him coaches included. Man, this is the last week where it's all sort of theoretical on what you're dreaming on and what it can be. You know, after that after that whole year and it's been a joyful off season in that way really every step of the way in terms of Ben and Caleb other things have brought us trouble and concern and. And then occasionally we've had to talk stadium, which is that part of why I've been so pissed off at the stadium talk is I just want to hang out with these guys and think about these guys and. Possibilities they don't want to talk about it. Why would they want to talk about it? It doesn't even concern the bear's now such a bad topic. Oh, it's the worst story of all time. I'm convinced. But I'm a Ben using the word lovingly multiple times when talking about Caleb Williams.
Yeah, because he's stealing the truth about how he's goofy. You know, like, but he says that loving passion. Like, I label him as maniacal in the best kind of way to find the compassion for the player who's bought in completely to everything he is selling. My gut tells me that Ben as a coach has that thing that Mark de Rosa says baseball managers have to have the ability to tell people the truth without them wanting to punch you in the face. Like Ben's just kind of got that thing. Yeah. And at his best, maybe the quarterback will grow into that thing and he talked about that too. Right? How Caleb is harsh on himself and he's exacting about himself and that helps him point out when other people are not doing the right thing on a certain. Yeah, which when you choose as out and you go, by the way, but you're doing that other thing I told about you, perfect. You're doing that. Keep doing that. What if the thing you're listening to right now never got interrupted? What if it could play uninterrupted from room to room on sonos?
What if you start with two sonos speakers just to see how it feels? What if you really like how it feels and you become a sonos person who can't stop saying to their friends? What if you start with two sonos speakers just to see how it feels? Because it's not magic, but it's not not magic. Find your connection at monoraybeacquarian.org slash connects. Other smart Americans are making the switch every day in a world filled with companies that cost you. It's nice to have one that's got you. WeShareHealth, we got you. But you can't beat this. Yeah, yeah, and it's funny. I sometimes I think my my my my wife is very strict in terms of wanting our son to do the right thing. And one time she said I know I'm strict with you. Rue and Rue said yeah, but you're strict with yourself. He knew it. He saw it. He realized that she so like you know these guys know Caleb knows that Ben is strict with himself.
When Ben screws up, he's like, man, I screwed that up. I got to be better. Like that. That's how it happens. That's how it's. Yes, and everything that he says to us, I guarantee you he said directly to the players face. I promise you that he has said it in probably a much more colorful and very deep and dynamic way. So what are he? So he has goofy and Caleb's like, oh, that's way less. That's way more tame than what he said to me. But you guys get like to guess what year that goofy debuted as an animated dog with Mickey Mouse 1964. Next guess Alex 71 before that. I'm going to go 58. You go 58. Yeah, 1932. Oh, geez. A character named Dippy dog. I'm gonna call you Dippy dog. You were back then. Oh, there you. That was Bruce Levin. I'm a soldier of riches. You got to fire back. I'll take it. I accept that. If I deliver a blow, I'm going to be ready to take one. No head gear. There's no head gear here on.
Oh, you're here. They come here. Come out of the Spigaleons filing into Gallagher. You've already had a couple actually. You're you got the guys that early access. Yeah. Am I up to nothing? I'm too nothing. I can't feel like I gave some treatment back. I have to help to brother up. I pick them back up. So like it's not once a wash. I got a wash. Tani. I said earlier that heroes coming all shapes and sizes. A man of size. Broke a chair here at Gallagher. It was looking to be ugly. I'm lovingly lovingly. Like raise your hand if you've ever broken a chair in public. Folks, I'm raising my hand. It's a terrible feeling. I said, then only a purpose. Bobby Knight has joined the group. If you get that reference, folks, keep your affairs in order. Now the man he went down. He went out. You saw him go down. I saw. Tell me. I was worried. He's his head. I mean, I was like, I was willing to take our set down. Luckily, he did not, but he went down. But I came back from the bathroom to find you among several people,
efforting and succeeding in helping this man up off course. It was beautiful. It's human. Yeah. Of course it was. It was beautiful. That's why there's so many guff heads. Hey, I'm just me, man. Yeah, you are. And it's beautiful. So yeah, the guff heads love you. If somebody else takes a spill out there in the next two hours, I got you. If you want to take a spill for those just entering Gallagher way, if you fall, I got you. Okay. This is the place to fall right here at Gallagher way. Oh, my God, amazing. But you mentioned there's some Caleb stuff out there about the contract. Yeah. And is this an article today or from yesterday? Argo today from the sun times. And I do know I've learned that Caleb, the bears did make Caleb available to a couple of beat writers yesterday. I think a non record on the record. Yeah, well, because Caleb did talk about the goofy thing to Jason Leisure among others. He said and talking about his future extension. Money's not a motivating factor for me. If I wanted to be done today, I'd be fine. That's not my motivation.
Winning, winning, winning handles everything. So that's where my mind's at. The most important thing is being able to make sure when I do get my contract that we keep winning that we can keep progressing as a team. That's my biggest goal. It's going to help me. But how can I keep a steady and be able to keep winning games because that's the most important thing to me. Well, it's lovely to hear. Correct. I'm guessing he'll want to be the richest quarterback ever at the same time. It could be. It could be. But maybe doesn't care about the most guaranteed ever or something like that. Certainly. You know, or some other thing in there. This is the category, Alex. And we don't need to have it now. But let's have it for tomorrow. Quarterbacks who signed that first big contract. And if it had any team friendly components in it because we're hip to veteran quarterbacks doing that kind of thing or deferring money or finding away. But usually that first quarterback contract is the one where you want to try and break the record. Now there's a couple out there where guys might not have been deserving of the gigantic deal. So they had to do ones in certain interesting ways. Remember the cappernic deal was a really interesting one in that regard.
You know, but I'll be interested to know whether Caleb might want to do anything team friendly to keep it rolling because we all know the math changes so drastically once you pay a quarterback. Yeah, how you know the signing bonuses they can frontload it backload it. I'd be interested to see to. I'm sure that they can navigate away creatively to be the richest while also taking a backseat on the back end. But the point is we have a quarterback that the bears are going to see a future extension with. And a guy who is concerned about building sustainability. Not just from the organization down, but the quarterback himself speaking that before the contracts even there. You like to hear the words. We'll see how it plays out. Well, Caleb was loaded before he got to the NFL business man before. Yeah, it was already thinking of business. He's involved in multiple ventures as we speak. And he was making what was he making as an NIL guy at USC six, seven million. You might have been even more than that. Okay. By the time as a senior, I met a guy from Oklahoma when I was on vacation. And I was like, oh, it was at the poker table.
No, I'm back on the beat on vacation. No, Oklahoma. That guy from Oklahoma. Metagarr. It's born in Oklahoma. No. And I told him about that. He said, really Chicago. I said, yeah. And he said bears fantasy chair. And he said, I hate Caleb. I said, why don't tell me like Oklahoma left him. I appreciate that. I showed a wide left. Yeah, he's a pro. He got a bet on Oklahoma with a nadi while he was out there. Should he be mad at Lincoln, Riley before Caleb? Didn't Caleb. Jun. Well, he's mad at Lincoln, Riley and Caleb for joining Lincoln. Well, then he should be met the hatred. Should be with Lincoln. Riley. It probably is more with Lincoln, Riley, but then look at that Campbell who just left Iowa State. He took 24 players from Iowa State to Penn State. Yeah, let it. Let the Iowa State completely without any. a Cori and whitewater Wisconsin who I believe was at the broadcast yesterday Cory said do we know for sure that goofy is a dog?
Didn't the stand-by me kids figure that out for sure That's what a great reference a phenomenal question and reference. I can tell you he is a tall anthropomorphic dog Who typically wears a turtle neck invest with paths shoes white gloves and a tall hat?
