Bengals' Draft Dilemma: Linebacker & Slot Corner

The Cincinnati Bengals made bold moves in free agency, grabbing top-safedies and edrushers,

but they left big holes at linebacker and slot, cornerback that could haunt them, heading

into the draft.

This isn't new for the Bengals who have a track record of missing on those spots and

past drafts, like when they reached for Senator Billy Priceback in 2018 after a better

player went first.

Fans and analysts are scratching their heads, worried that these glaring needs make the

Bengals predictable on draft night, letting other teams jump, ahead or trade up against

them.

At cornerback, Josh Newton ranked 69th out of 114 last year by Pro Football Focus, solid

depth but not starter material in.

Today's three cornerback schemes and shifting Dax Hill again feels risky.

Meanwhile, linebackers Demetrius Knight and Barrie Carter would be thrust into starting

roles without veteran help, repeating last season's Ricky, struggles and leaving the

whole defense exposed if they don't develop fast.
