0:00is a show goes on. But I gotta say, today we did something a little different with Jared Goff. We had a very specific listener question. And it was a home run. It was so great. I was such a great question. It's kind of like a type of pretzels question in a way without being awkward like the type of pretzels questions can be awkward, which I think that was the trepidation we had. But we trust you, Kang, to sift through and pull out the right one. I would say that and there is a degree. I'll be a small degree of trust that the audience would spend some good good questions. Yeah. I did something called you asked the player when I hosted the Michigan pregame shows. And I would get the emails of people that would send over that we're asking the questions. They were amazing. It was some weeks I go, I don't have one I can possibly ask. And I'm not talking about they were. It was just like it was like Chris Farley sometimes. Like and there were a lot of people asking for autographs.

1:01I did something similar with the ribings with the lions. Oh, okay. My bad back in in the early 2000s. Was the fan question of the week that did not go over very well. It didn't. Yeah. No, no, the response we were we would get wasn't all that impressive. And then when I had to present the question, I didn't like I wasn't making anything up. I just would legitimately walk into the locker room afterwards. And okay, here's our fan question a week and yet Johnny Morton one time that lines receiver not the office of corner. What was making fun of the question? And the question was, Hey, Johnny is a receiver. And I thought was actually somewhat legitimate. Does it change for you when you're catching the ball from a left handed quarterback versus a right handed quarterback? And you hear every every since then every time there's a left handed quarterback, people ask receivers that and they will tell you, yeah, there's a different spin.

2:02Gotta get used to it. But that's not what Johnny Morton responded with. He was, he was, are you kidding me? It was what the hell kind of question is that? It's why can't it's a different from a left handed quarterback or right hand. I'm like, well, you don't have to go. No, no, no, I'll answer the question. Go ahead. Ask me. So I asked the question. And he goes, well, when a left handed quarterback throws me the ball, I catch it. And when a right handed quarterback throws me the ball, I catch it. Like so, so no, no difference. No. Thanks, Johnny. So I won't ask Jared next week. Is it different from to a left handed receiver or a right handed receiver? Take the floor, Jared. Like is a listener question. And by the way, I think it might be somewhat legit. He told you it wasn't. Yeah, Johnny would say it was not legit. So, so who is it that sent the question in Allen and Belleville? Alan Bravo. And for people who missed it, the question was, which of your teammates would you trust a baby citruder? And what's your your teammate?

3:03Would you not? And he answered it. I thought he was going to plead the fifth on the second part. He's like, yeah, Gibbs. No. As long as Gibbs doesn't lose the football, he can lose here. It's a guy. I'm very, it doesn't matter. Spectacular. All right. So Dan Campbell joined the morning show. And let's bring you the best of what he had to say. It starts with this. Lot is expected to this rookie class. Derek Moore on defense, second round pick, first round pick, Blake Miller. Do you sit down with the rookies and talk to them at all to prepare him for week one? Here's what he said.

4:16It's going to be really interesting to see who is actually active come game day. Blake Miller and Derek moral be active. It sounds as though Keith Abney will be active. But will Jimmy Rolter be active? He's not on the injured list, right? No, he's he's back. He's he's practicing again. And everybody on the active roster was a practice yesterday. Well, Skyler Gil Howard be active because you have 53 on the roster 48 on game day. Makes no sense. It's a weird. I don't know. I don't know. I've never gotten that and it feels like teams run into numbers crunches. And I'm like, why are we doing this? But there's an active roster. Let's mall be an it feels it feels like it's a it's a CBA thing.

5:19Well, Eric O'Neill. They can't say enough good things about O'Neill, a undrasted free agent. Yeah, I think that's where it's going to be interesting is who are the inactive? Because I would imagine Skyler Gil Howard should be. I mean, part of that. They got a four man rotation. They can go with it at the defensive tackle position. And maybe McIe Wingo is the the odd man out. But he's got a little cue next to his name on the depth chart here on ESPN.com. So perhaps there's a little nursing and injury that can make it easy. Okay, Drew Petsing, the new offensive coordinator. He was asked to go to expect. Here's what Dan Campbell said this morning.

6:36I don't know if anything else to add there other than the expectation is to be. Better than they were a year ago. And that's a pretty high bar. But it doesn't feel unrealistic. No, it's not. I don't think it's unrealistic at all. And the team is still the same team with the with the weapons on offense. It's a different offensive line. But I think that's what I think is the most important thing to do. I think it's a very important thing to do. It's a very important thing to do. I think it's a very important thing to do. I think it's a very important thing to do. It's a different offensive line. But they should be good. Be good with them. It's I think it's just going to be interesting. Like from a philosophical standpoint, are they doing things differently than they did last year? Are they going to be more running heavy? Are they going to be more tight end heavy or how they that's what I'm curious about? By the way, just a correction. On game day, it goes from 53 to 46 and not 48. There are exceptions where you can have another player to balance out the roster and make sure you have enough. But I'm not going to go into the details of that.

7:36A final thing here. And this is I think what I find most interesting. And I want your reaction to as a fan base. How are you feeling about the secondary? And when Costa asked the question, you said, you know, Brad had to answer some questions last week about, did you do enough in the secondary? How do you feel about the group that you'll put on the field this weekend? Here's what Dan Campbell said. Alright. So I think he basically told us what the starting secondary was by who he mentioned first.

9:24I think that the guy's come to agree with, but you have to really listen to what he says. He feels good about that group going into week one. And I do too. But here's where I'm worried about it. What happens in the first injury comes. And then he started attacking the depth because right now, okay, they're thin in the secondary, but these guys can get it. It's not that they can't get it done. I think they can get the job done. But can they stay healthy so that you're not going from, you know, starting a Vantamatics and Chuck Clark at safety. And now you got to bring in Thomas Harper or somebody else or isian go to safety because you have to back somebody else up. And it everything, it's re-slots everything else as long if they can stay healthy, we'll feel okay about it. Maybe even better than okay about it. But when those first injuries creep in, look out. Okay. Is anybody else think that the panic over the secondary is been a bit much? Is anybody else feel like this group? Hey, they're not as bad as people think or is Dan Campbell as this is, we're good.

10:25Now, remember when he said that last year, he said in the morning show, we're good. He was asked about bringing back who was the ed rusher that they got the year before and he was released. The various men. Very smart. Thank you. He was asked specifically about bringing back Zidarius Smith. And he basically wrapped it up saying we're good. People interpreted that as we're good defensively. We're good on the defensive line. We're good at the edge, opposite a hutch. I think all he meant was we're good in not bringing back Zidarius Smith. And I think that was pretty much justified. It was a bit, it was a very Smith appeared to be done at that point. But at the end of the day, this is a boost of confidence coming from the head coach regarding the most maligned and the position group that worries people the most.
