Was Carson the one that text in that he would like to see the fifth seat filled by Tom Pied?
It may have been him, maybe not confirmed tonight.
So Carson, if you're listening right there, we had a deal today on roll call on what would be who would fill in for the fifth chair if it was the three, the three regulars and it was Jason Peter.
And one of the ones that was brought in was Tom Pied.
Yes.
And so could you ask Tom if he'd be willing to come in and when, when Jason's here again, we're going to have Brent Wisterman, which is going to be outstanding.
That would be a really fun show.
So anyway.
So thank you very much for a sandhills.
Just a part of it.
Nobody even typed in Carson shots name for the little surprise.
Very shocked that his name was not one that came in.
Very shocked.
Hip jake bill.
Jason Peter Carson shot.
Nobody wants to ask.
Very.
Yeah.
I would say this people right now are going to be like.
I have all the correct.
I regret.
I'll take some of that.
I'll take some cars here.
So one hundred percent.

Dynard Contracting.
Tell you one thing.
Randy will be out and busy today.
It's a very...
It's probably a deck day.
It's nice to see it.
It's a deck day.
It's 70 degrees.
Yeah.
Perfect day for this.
Got a little warm yet.
That didn't affect Randy whatsoever.
But also a little surprise.
We didn't hear Randy.
Didn't hear Randy as the fifth death.
No rent.
No carcin' or Randy's with myelin and tan.
Oh, this is stunning.
Yes, it's stunning right there.
But there's a lot of people have a lot of interest.
So appreciate that.
Mine comes into yesterday.
Jake.
Okay.
Viewing the room.
It's a different boom.
Viewing the room is a different boom.
All right.
I want to complain.
This is slight bugaboom.
Okay.
I like bugaboom.
I like bugaboos like that.
This is slight.
So in recruiting.
So you're at the Nebraska's, the LSU's, the Ohio States.
Different places Wisconsin's.
The recruiting day.
It's signing day, which now is in December.
And the room would be like.
And it would be a lot of energy.
And basically people are on the phone finishing up.
And they're waiting for faxes to come in.
And they were sent in obviously via the phone and stuff now.
So it's much different than it used to be.
It's having it emailed in or fact or or son on your phone to get all the information.
And it was, there'd be a lot of celebrations.
There'd be a lot of life.
That was awesome.
Because you know why?
You put in roughly two and a half years on most of these guys you recruited.
It's insane.
You've been to their house.
What you've done is insane.
So when I turned on the TV and they would always all of a sudden, there was about 15 of them yesterday before the draft.
And they'd flash to whatever, whatever GM office, wherever they're at back in their home office like that.
And just 15 guys and suits hugging each other.
And it just bothers me.
It's like they're selecting.
And they're in this ecstatic deal of like, man, we got him.
They didn't have, they're picking him.
They have to come to you.
The other way is 10 times more exciting.
Right.
When when you're the one you're the one doing the courting.
You're the one that did all the work to try to get them to select you.
Yes, there has been a, there has been an L way.
There has been a manning.
That's the only two that I know.
Everyone else is like, when you get, when you get picked, there's who it was.
The receiver went to, to, to where from Ohio State went to the Titans, right?
Yeah.
I don't think he in the end is going, I really didn't want to go to the Titans that bad.
But I'm happy.
I'm happy.
I'm going, guess where he's going to go?
He's going to go to the Titans.
Yes, he is.
So when I see these celebrations and hugs, like, we did it, man, we did it.
It's like, what do you mean you picked them?
It's not that hard.
Did they put work into to do that?
Yes.
I'd be more excited about the, about the sixth round on who you selected.
Because that's where the heavy work comes in.
Because now you've got so many more things on the table of who's available.
What's left needs best available?
All these things going on.
And there's so many more numbers.
You kind of knew who out of the first round was going to go, right?
They're basically was, hey, there's going to be whatever.
There was more than 32 picks.
Was there 34?
Was it in the first round?
32.
I thought there was, I thought last time I saw that there was a, did it stop at 32?
Because they kept showing Arizona.
They'll have some, yeah, they have supplemental picks and stuff.
Round two and three.
But there's just 32 picks.
There's always this.
It was 32.
Okay.
Because I quit watching it 30.
But anyway, I just thought the names kept popping up.
So I didn't quite understand how that was going to be.
But the point being was of the 32.
What was available?
Basically, there's going to be in that 32.
39.
There were 39 to 40 people that were going to be in that group.
It wasn't somebody coming out of it.
We thought it was the fifth round.
And we took them in the first and happened.
And then the hugs drive me nuts.
It just drives me absolutely nuts.
Jake, to see this.
Just in the draft.
In the draft.
Yeah.
War room.
Yeah.
You're hugging each other and stuff.
And it's like, dude, you had, there's no place else you could go.
And it's like, man, I mean, I'm seeing like that.
The Raiders hugging each other.
We got Fernando.
That's it.
That's it.
We knew for five months we were taking Fernando or whatever it was.
It was like, so several months, several months.
It's just odd to me.
The excitement you get when there is no, where's not like on a man it finally came through.
Because you would put it in two and a half years.
Maybe two, whatever.
The time you would put in the number of phone calls you put in.
You don't have to do it.
In fact, they didn't have to do the Raiders.
They didn't have to talk to Fernando one time if they didn't want to.
They could have done nothing.
Not at all.
They could have just went to the Belagio and hung out.
And then on that day called him up and said, hey, we're taking you.
Thank you.
Sounds good.
And we'll get to know you here tomorrow.
See you tomorrow.
We'll have a plan come pick you up in a way we go.
There's no work.
There's research you have to do to say, make sure it's the right guy and all those things.
So I get that they did work.
You're the one selecting.
That's a whole different deal.
Can I give you one time where maybe it's okay for the hug one example.
So like last night that the Cowboys got get a steal of Caleb Downs at 11 to get the trade
to move up past the Dolphysis and get that is that is there a moment where it's allowed
then for excitement in the war room.
And I'm okay with excitement.
I'm never going to like what the hugs pause because that that was the guy that fell
farther than he was.
They thought he might I could see maybe I could see one example of that.
I can see that being a little.
But in general with you in general it just doesn't work for me at all.
And I and you saw a lot of them too.
They weren't excited hugs.
And they just bunch of guys kind of walking around the time.
Hey, hey, hey, I didn't hug you yet real quick.
Get over here.
Get over here.
Get over here.
Yeah.
And so yeah, there's a time of I can see it a little bit.
Oh man, this is unbelievable.
I mean, I love what room would you have liked your scene last night?
And maybe they did show, but I don't know.
Did they show the Rams?
They did show the ramp.
It was odd.
Thank you.
It was odd.
So is there no hugging?
Was there just like nobody in there?
Like if you look at most rooms they had like, you know, 15 guys.
The Rams is like four guys.
It was very strange.
The Rams room was odd.
Was McVeigh in there?
I didn't see him in the room in the room.
No.
So that would have been one.
Maybe they're not when they shot the sun.
Hey, we're taking this.
We're taking Thai Simpson.
The room just cleared out.
Okay.
Like I'm no part of.
I'm no part of this.
I'm no part of this.
I'm no part of this.
I'm no part of this.
I didn't pick him.
Oh.
And there'll be people.
You know what's the interesting about this?
There will be people fired.
Like like on on Sunday or Monday.
There'll be people out of that will lose jobs.
Not just because of the draft that they're going to like,
we're not firing him right now.
It's got more like an assistant GM or somebody going,
you know what?
We're just going to go a different direction.
But we're not going that direction right now.
Because sometimes you don't want,
if they've been in the room for a long time,
then all of a sudden they get let go.
And somebody else has all their information.
So it's just an interesting effect.
I'm not losing my mind over it.
I'll be able to sleep.
It just bothers me when you're the one picking.
That type of excitement goes on.
Because in the college world,
you're the one doing all the work.
And also in the work,
the assistant coach is a major back of the day.
It was before,
before NIL and actual cash being offered.
The assistant coach was the guy.
He was the one who locked it up.
The assistant coach was the guy.
He was the one who locked it up.
The assistant coach and the head coach.
That's who locked it up.
So you were like,
it was, it was nerve racking.
And you're waiting for stuff to come in.
And then all of a sudden,
it's all sudden it's signing day Jake.
And you're texting,
hey, you know, it's early in the morning,
seven o'clock.
Hey, hit me up.
Hey, when you wake up,
hit me up,
when you get to wherever,
hit me up, nothing.
Don't get a text back.
Don't get anything.
Uh-oh.
Not right away.
You're just,
if you don't get a text back within,
within nine seconds.
I can serve panics.
That's a problem.
Especially because when you're certain schools.
It's like,
some are going to like,
now they're all going to sign.
They even have any other,
they don't have a very many other.
We're the,
where's best situation?
Not when you're at LSU.
All those guys at LSU have offers from Georgia,
Florida's,
USC's,
all the places.
So you're up against it.
I think from the text line,
Yeah.
A good question.
And someone wants to know.
This is not exactly about
the celebration.
It's about the,
the warming general.
Scaper says,
I forget what you're this way.
Just,
taking that the Vikings went past the allotment of time and they had and they got surpassed for the pick
I think that they had to move down a pick. That's crazy. How can that possibly happen? It's I don't
know how crazy with that you can even imagine that you missed your pick. Yeah, that that's bizarre
a world. I don't even know if someone was like like I was or someone that deserves a fire. If
someone was or constantly someone saying we got two and a half minutes or two minutes. Nice.
We're one. Hey guys. We're on the slip. Now there might be somebody to say you know what?
We are not 100% sure on this and so I'm taking someone. I would say this if they if they could
comfortably come out and say I get it. If they just move back to one spot and they just say we
weren't 100% sure we're on the phone or I would imagine what was happening in the world. Although
I've never sat in one. Yeah, but I've researched them a lot from people are there but I've never
been in one. So I'm very very guarded on say that I'm an expert on that. Most likely they might have
been in the phone with the trade. Talking to someone trying to trade down or do something and
all of a sudden it's like the guy at the very end they go no deal not doing it and they had 20
seconds left and they couldn't get it done. So that that was part of the thing. There was one last
night that the receiver. McCoy lemon was on the phone with Pittsburgh and they couldn't get to him
in Philadelphia. He's trying to trade to get him. So that was another crazy story. I'd
remember the old pictures. Jake you go back to the 90s and they show the draft and all the teams
are all in the same room with a phone. Yep. Oh, that's beautiful. A large wired phone was set up.
That was beautiful. And that's why I want that to never be in the game. Imagine just looking over
like that. You're like, Hey, what are the Bengals doing over there? You can see them on now.
Everyone does it now. They're on their own. It's not right. One more to read here. Someone says
great bills. Thrills couldn't agree more. I had a recruiting call at 10 30 PM with a recruiting
in California than the next morning. I had a 5 30 AM call with the recruit in Australia. We
worked really hard. And to watch these NFL GMs get all huggy is super annoying. Yeah, it is.
Like I said, I would come home. I told you guys with the cell phone thing back when minutes weren't
free. And so in time slot. So I would come home and I would and I would sleep from whatever time
I get a Thursday night. We get home earlier from the office. And I would sleep for like four
hours because I had Americans in Hawaii. That's right. That's my recruiting area. And so for it to
be nine o'clock there like that. That's that's a big weight. So I would wait. And then I'd be up
until two in the morning, making phone calls. And then when when that all works out, that celebration
when you get a just select, you know, that's like that's like being on the that's like being on the
on the old school. They had like the dating game when someone there was three people to select
from. The one person gets to pick. Yeah, that's so that's the difference with it. So look at that
dolphins breakers walking by. Yeah, that's awesome. And Finn build a headline one more time please
on bill thrills viewing the room. It's a different boom. And that is bill thrill sponsored by
our friends at diner contract. It is time to play the game show. Sip is not here today. And I was
informed late last night about this. I didn't have a chance to make a good luck bill for Seinfeld. So
here's going to happen. We did not do the show yesterday because Jason Peter is here and we
had incredible conversation. And so I just we didn't do bill thrills or shut up simple. Yeah,
shut up. Sometimes it happens when we had stations. I told Jake right away. I said, hey,
when he's coming in, I said, we're not doing a bill's rills when Jason. No, that eats up 15
minutes at a time. So today, we're going to do what we were going to do yesterday for round one
I'll try it. Number three overall picks NFL draft history random. Well, first of all,
I would know none. If someone just said you name it right now, if you said name an overall
number three pick, I couldn't do it. Well, we'll see how you do. I will give you what do you
give me the school, the position, the team drafted them and what year? I just need the players name.
These are elite players that want to really do NFL players in what high school what college
they go to. We had a bit more fun because I was here we go yesterday. If you think you know,
your number three overall picks NFL history college 464 5 to 5. Good luck. Bill starts right now.
We've all been there. You're listening to the radio and then that rage starts to grow inside of you.
It starts to consume you. It gets to a point where you just want to yell, shut up, sifle.
I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Well, here's your chance. It's time to shut up sifle. Call now to play.
464 5 6 8 5. Shut up sifle. Brought to you by bagels and Joe. This is going to get very awkward
today on the game show because when sif is gone, it's not shut up sifle. It's good luck. Bill.
Yes. Here's our problem bill. The caller's name is also bill today. It's bill versus
bill. Oh, I like it. Who am I saying? Good luck. Who is this? Bill busher caller bill.
What's going on right now? Bill. Caller bill. Caller bill is bill. Where are you calling from?
I am calling from East campus. Oh, East campus. Nice. Can you see Valentino's right across the street?
I'm parked right next to it. Oh, that's something. I'm going to go to the ice. The dairy store today.
The dairy store. Ice cream on a Friday bill. Oh, it's possible. I'll tell you one thing inside
bill. It's a dairy store and they don't sell chocolate milk. I've never heard of that in the
history of the world. A dairy store that doesn't doesn't focus on milk also. Bill, where are you?
Where are you originally originally from? Or Nebraska. Or that's our chance. Nice. Would you be
willing to text a friend today and see if they would also become a breaker? Yeah, sure. Awesome.
Thank you. We're building breakers one day at a time. All right. Bill, no life plan for either of
you today. It's mon. It's bill versus bill. And good luck. This is one of those weird. Yeah, this is
strength. This is an alternate world. Caller bill. You are first. What Michigan receiver did the
Browns take third overall in 2005? Five. Four. We're going to have to pass three. He's passed.
I have some thoughts on a couple because I know that era a little bit. No, I'm going to pass on it.
That would be brailin. I had it. Edwards. And I went against my theory of always just taking a shot.
See that was that you're going to be your guest, brailin. Yeah, it was. But anyway, okay, one zero, zero times
bill. First question. What Alabama running back did the Browns take third overall in 2012?
No, this is for bill pushed. Not you call it bill. Different bill. It's the other pill. It's wrong because he wanted it. Is it
Ingram? Mark Ingram. No, he went to the Saints. He went to the Saints a couple years before that. Do you want
that one? Caller bill or not? You don't have to take it. Is it Richardson? Trent Richardson is correct. He was a
bust with the Browns. Did not did not pan out. Well, okay, this is not good for me. It's okay. This is for
the win. Caller bill. Caller bill. What Oregon quarterback did the Bengals take third overall in 1999?
Oh man throwing it back.
Five. Oh man. Give him a lot of time. Four. Yeah, Bengals. It's really awkward. I'm bored.
Smith Smith. Achilles Smith is correct.
That's brilliant. Achilles Smith had written down. Are you sure he didn't Google that? I don't know. I don't know. I want to use caller bill.
He's building breakers. You know, I don't want to make it too upset here. Can grads call it bill. You're getting
Bengals. Thanks for calling. Man, I had that one to us. It goes right back in it.
Do you know what Oklahoma defensive tack with the Bucks took third overall in 2010? Bill by chance.
After Endowment can sue. What's it McCoy? Gerald McCoy. Oh, that's the wrong button. Hang on. I'm going for this one.
He doesn't get that. I'm going to get Smith. I'm going to get. Yeah, you would have. And the
tiebreaker. How many passing touchdowns did Achilles Smith have in four NFL seasons?
Wasn't very many. I'm going to say 26. He had five. Five. Five touchdowns in 13 picks in four seasons for Achilles Smith.
Achilles Smith. A lot. You did. Well, he's his guy. He's from I want to say Grossman. If I'm correct,
Grossman junior college in San Diego, he went from there to Oregon. And so I watched him in
junior college a lot. Yes. How about that? This is surprised you and the guys don't pan out.
Good in college. He goes to the overall just didn't work out. Well, the one position that's
really hard is the quarterback. It's like all or nothing. Yeah. Sometimes if you're a detackle
and maybe you don't end up being that guy is a true first round what he should have produced.
But he hangs around in the league for, you know, you talked about we talked about how good,
you know, obviously a mirror was unbelievable running back. And I had to coach again when I was at
Wisconsin. So I saw it live. So I knew how hard it was to have to defend him. And you'd say,
well, this is what was his career like? Well, it was maybe limited. He's got 11 years in the NFL.
So that's incredible. So sometimes there's a pick like that. Someone might say, well, was that a
good pick? Second round. It should have been. It's like, well, the guy played 11 years. So sometimes
other positions, there's other value on things that they could do. You might draft somebody. If you
draft something in the third round and he's a backup guard for, for, for your team for eight years
in place, you know, every now and then a lot of value in that. And so there's a lot of things
that the true bus happened usually more than they happen. You know, there's been different ones
that have taken place. But the quarterback spot seems to hit the most. It's like a one shot deal.
It's you. It's all you. If they're, if you're defensive, I mean defensive line guys, they rotate
in. There's different defensive line guys that rotate in. Some guys are pass rush specialists and
don't play all the time. Are they? Are they? He wasn't what we thought, but we're getting 15 good
snaps out of him a game quarterback. You don't get not what we thought, but we're getting 20 snaps
of game out of him. That's not the case. It's amazing. Like stories like the Niners who can trade
up to draft, trade lands. And then they draft Brock Pernie at the very last pick in the draft. And
the first one failed miserably. The last one, the last pick of the draft is your starting court.
He's your franchise quarterback. It's incredible. Everyone knows the story of what
really happened in the room and what happened. So the question would be like, is that who was?
Is it? Is it? Was there? Was there an idiot in a genius? Was it? Was it right? Okay, you
you were an idiot, but then you had a genius. So you saved yourself. So you saved yourself.
How'd this thing play out? Or is it like someone I slammed my fist for trade lands
in somebody else? And then he still and he didn't want pretty, but some of us that were taking
party and that worked out. So there's somebody in the room. Everyone knows, right? Everyone
knows who made the who made the call. And those are the ones that are those those are the brilliant
ones. Those are the ones when you when there's when there are Hall of Famers that go in the third round
like that. That's when you that's when you've done your that's when you get a pound your chest.
If all of a sudden Fernando works out, you don't get a pound your chest.
Clowns went first. Oh, come on. And they said there's four of them now that have won the
Heisman National Championship. And then first overall, there's only there's only three. So it's
Fernando. It's Joe burrow. It's Winston. And can't they remember the third one?
They'll get credit for that. You just picked the best play. Yeah, come on. The best play.
Well done. Wow. Yeah. So the bingles don't get a lot of credit like, no, how did you guys come
up with the idea? Well, when you go get a party at chance that whatever to something. Okay. Now
somebody did something that that it's like, okay, that is your that is your department. The GM and
Sky department going like, Oh, wow. Oh, wow. You get somebody that's doing something. It's like,
Oh, wow. So it's pretty cool when that happens. When we come back hour three, we have a question
about the Iowa Hawkeyes and the NFL draft. Oh, boy. That's next. I'm really breaking the ticket.
