Birmingham's Eastside Metro Extension: New Stops & Routes

On April 2nd, passenger tram services hit the Millennium Point stop starting this Easter Sunday, April 5th.

It's the kickoff for the Birmingham Eastside Metro extension, adding two new stops that link right up to spots like More Street Station, the Clayton.

Hotel, Birmingham City University, and Millennium Point itself.

Transport for West Midlands, under the West Midlands combined authority, made this happen.

The Albert Street stop gives a straight shot for those 400,000 bus riders hitting the More Street interchange weekly.

This marks the first branch splitting off the main line from Birmingham to Wolverhampton.

Leaders are hyped about the impact.

TFWM's Sandeep Shingadia says it pulls folks closer to jobs, schools, and hangouts while boosting local shops.

West Midlands Metro's Sophie Allison adds, they're ready to roll out rides every 15 minutes, tying this lively city chunk into the bigger network.

Expect tweaks to the current schedule, some bull street to Grand Central Trams, now detour to these stops.

Later this year, another branch opens from Windsbury to Dudley, growing the whole system.

All this sets the stage for a major metro glow-up, linking more neighborhoods and easing rides across the region.
