We're hoping to hear from Jeff Flashall and some Blackhawks by the end of the show today.
But boy, what a difference.
Uh, 22 hours makes really impressive game for the hawks from start to finish.
Um, really in control of this one, only gave up 22 shots on goal.
All 22 of which were stopped by Arvid solder bloom in his first career.
Shot out lots of good, but let's start with solder bloom because, you know, I think every
time he gets a start, all of us feel a little bit itchy because you feel like one or two
are going to go in that maybe shouldn't have.
He was dynamite tonight, well positioned, uh, glove hand, look good.
He showed a little bit of swag and a flare and a glove saves here and there.
And there was a late push and a third one shift in particular where Utah was really just
throwing everything they had at the net.
He stood tall and stopped everything, um, and shout out to the hawks D to who had really
great sticks today.
They sticks were in the way all the time.
Utah did not have a lot of really great scoring chances in this game, uh, really impressive
top to bottom.
In the, in this game, let me see, I'm going to refresh my natural stat trick so I make sure
the stats are accurate, uh, seven high danger chances, uh, I'm sorry, 10 for the mammoth.
That seems high.
I don't think that's right.
Um, I mean, 11 10 for the hawks in this one.
Yeah, I think you, we said on the pre game show, um, this team needed more depth scoring.
They needed goal support, uh, because usually sour blooms going to lead in a couple that
Spencer Knight, uh, you get used to the goal tending that that he usually provides you
where he can kind of save you some goals, um, but sour bloom tonight, like had a really
solid effort, uh, expected goals against, uh, 2.25, um, he, he had a, a great night.
And when you have a goalie that is stopping, uh, anything that's, that's coming on that
that gives you a bit more confidence, um, this team needed to find their legs in night
two of a, of a back to back and they did, they came out to a great effort in the first
period, um, and what they did tonight that they haven't done the last two games was keep
their foot on the gas.
They, they got out to the, the lead in the first period, late in the first period, but
you get some, you get some momentum going into the intermission, um, that's got to feel
good.
12 shots on goal in that first period compared to 15 15 all of last night, like that felt
good.
Uh, and then they kept, they, they kept up with it.
They didn't, uh, they didn't let off.
And even when Utah started to push, they were able to push back.
They were able to, um, you know, stop plays, uh, before they were developing, like it
was a good, uh, all around effort and you got the depth scoring table, it feels weird
to call him a depth score, but a guy that hasn't had too many goals, uh, and it's kind
of been down, uh, in production this year to get two goals from him was big, uh, you
get the goal also from Felino, his 250th of the season and Lannis Lager's career of this,
of the career.
Yeah.
Of the season to be.
That'd be sorry.
Um, 250th of his career and then Lannis Lager with the goal, too.
So that was very, um, throw it up the net and see what happens.
And it was partially screened.
I think, uh, the Malka wasn't entirely prepared for a shot on that.
And then the shot was placed wonderfully, uh, right past the year whole, uh, on, on,
the, on the goalie mass there, uh, that's a tough shot, even if you are prepared for
it to stop.
So, um, this wasn't, this wasn't effort that, uh, I felt a bit unexpected and pleasantly
surprised that the Hawks were able to put this kind of game together, given the circumstances
and given the efforts that we had seen recently.
Well, like you start against Nashville, it's your first game back.
You try to implement a few new things, um, and, you know, that was, it was a little
lost, but it wasn't, they didn't get the racist kick by any means, uh, you basically
had a one goal lost to the Abilance yesterday.
They added an empty net or late.
Yes, you were under assault as every team is against the Abilance, but I think what
you saw today was the team is starting to figure out the tweaks they made over the
break.
You saw a lot of defense been activating Alex Vlasik had three or four moments where he
took the puck end to end, uh, including setting up Tevo's short-handed goal, uh, going
from defensive zone to offensive zone behind the net, feeding him in front.
You saw Louis Crevier, a couple times pension, uh, joined the rush hat was part of the
non-man rush and got a shot on goal.
So I think we're seeing these little tweaks make their way out and, and, you know, Utah
is there in the wild card spot right now.
They're a solid team.
They're probably a year or two ahead of the Hawks in terms of their rebuild, um, but
this was one where you felt like it was a bitter, a bit of a better measuring stick than
Colorado.
It's hard to glean too much when you're playing a team that good, right?
Um, I'm very pleased with what I saw tonight for the Hawks.
It would they would just, they looked confident for the first time in a while.
And as I said, they were well in control, uh, from start to finish.
They, they, the only period in which they were outshot was the second and it was 10-9,
uh, 13-8 in the first six, four and a third.
The winner is I think over 10 minutes through the third period, the Hawks had only given
up one shot.
I think it was like 10-38 or something like that.
Um, so, uh, that's what you want to see, man.
They, they had a lead.
They played defensively, but they still were trying to put pressure on Vamelka and Utah.
If they can play this way, that, like, this is what Jeff Flashles envisioning, right?
Right.
And this is the kind of hockey they were playing.
Right before Bedard came back where they had that nice stretch was I think it was what
six games or whatever, where they, they played really well.
They all played really, really together, um, when they play this way, they can get results.
They're not going to win every game, they're not going to win every game for nothing, but
they're fully capable of putting together performance like this.
And I think that's what makes the games where they don't play this way.
So frustrating.
Yeah.
We've, we've seen it at different points this season.
It's the, the, the big thing will be getting efforts like this to be more of the norm,
more of the, you know, more of that consistency, um, when you have, when you have a game where
Conor Bordard doesn't have to score, doesn't have to be the guy to do it all, like that can
build some confidence for the rest of the group.
Because if, and look, on the broadcast, they, they made no to the stat, 45.9 percent
of all goals from the black box this year have come through Conor Bordard either assisting
or scoring on it, which is top five in the league, um, but when you can get games where
he doesn't have to be the guy doing everything that boosts the confidence for the rest of
the group.
And then you can have more confident play across the board.
You saw a guy said that we're, that we're buzzing Alex Vlasik had a really good performance.
I think Ardom Levchenov had a, had a good game, um, you know, the guys that you want to
see have that confidence and, and, and put out performances like this, that's, that's
what's important with this.
I see a lot of people saying, why are we up, why are we happy with the win?
We're trying to tank.
No, you're happy.
You're happy with the win because as, as Blaschle talked about in the pre game, process
is important with all of these guys.
And yes, it's one thing to say, like, hey, we're doing the right things in practice and
hey, we're doing some of the, the right things, the small things in games, but you lose.
But doing things right and winning, that gives, that, that checks all the boxes, that checks
the boxes of what you want to happen where you were building confidence, were you building
for this group moving forward, those habits that we've talked about at nauseam with young
players, like building those winning habits and building that confidence to just go back
and watch the tape and say, hey, like we played this way against Utah, we played this
way against Colorado, we've beaten Edmonton, we've beat, like you go back and you look
at the teams that they've played well against, that they beat, that, you know, you can go
back and see in film sessions, like, hey, insert player here, here's you against one of
the top players or against one of the top teams or against a really good goalie and
making this play, making, you know, making this play, you can't do it.
If you are able to, you know, ingrain this in your DNA, you will become a better hockey
player.
Yeah.
And that's what it's, and that's what it's about with specifically these young players
too, like to have a game like this for left and off is great, to have a game like this,
you know, for, for a guy like Oliver Moore was, was in there, making some really good
in plays.
Um, that's important.
That is what is important and, and, and doing it in a winning effort builds that momentum,
builds that confidence and can ingrain that DNA in these players.
That's why it's important.
Well, I mean, you're also just to, to simplify the hell out of it, it's like, it's also fun
to win.
Why do we have to justify winning?
No, we don't.
That's, we don't have that conversation.
I don't, I don't, the tank, the tank stuff is behind them.
They're not trying to lose every game anymore.
It's just not, it's just simply, they're already going to be in the lottery.
I'm in, and yeah, like, yes, do you want the, the, the best odds and, and all that sure,
but we're down the road far enough that a lot of the players that you're trying to build
with need to get the good experiences in the NHL.
Yeah.
Um, I'm not, I'm not entertaining that conversation anymore.
Winds are a good thing when you're trying to build these young players up and to have them
get pay off for their, like, you're, you're preaching.
We want you to play this way and when you play this way, you'll get results and then
for them to get the actual results, it's going to make them, okay, cool.
Yes.
Great.
Great work.
And it's losing over and over and over again, just crushes these guys.
Look, they're NHL players.
You have to have a certain level of competitiveness to even make it to this level.
I know, you know, people like to, from the chatter from whatever social media be like, this
guy sucks.
He doesn't care.
He's not interested to have to get to the NHL takes a certain level of commitment that
a lot of other players can't make and money.
Let's be honest about that, Zach Hyman, you're rich bastard.
It's part of it.
But like, these guys don't want to lose.
They have no interest in tanking.
You heard counter-bredard and Frank Neesar say it after the early season win over the
blues.
Like, we want to win now.
We're not, we're not worried about two, three years from now.
We want to win now by the end of this year, the number three pick in this draft is coming
Anton Frontel.
You've got Roman Cantor, probably coming next year.
The next step of this thing has begun.
I think it probably began this year where you've already promoted a bunch of young players.
You're given them all big minutes for the most part or at least big opportunities.
They're not up and down in Rockford all the time.
The phase two of the rebuild is here.
It's not about losing every game.
So if that's, if that's where you're at, that's cool.
But I don't think that that's, I don't, I don't, I know that's not the way the black
hawks are thinking.
Were they thinking that way?
The last few years?
Yeah.
Let's, let's maybe try to increase our draft lottery odds.
Great.
I get that fine.
You've gone one, two, three in consecutive years.
They're still going to have a lottery pick this year.
Maybe it's somewhere between, you know, four and ten or whatever it might be.
You're still going to get a good player there.
You should still get someone that's going to be a key to your future success.
Yeah.
There's a, there's a lot of quality players in the draft like it's, you want the young
players to start getting the taste of the success because that's, that's what is going
to move this thing forward.
You want those guys to get those, I get, get that identity within themselves of we can
win in the NHL.
We know how to do it.
We have enough of a resume of doing it that it's not a, you know, college, hoping, hoping
wish we can have a good performance.
Like, no, you go out there with the confidence to know that you're going to do it.
So I would, I would much rather, guys like Bedard and, and Nazar and Green and more and
Lev Shanoff and, you know, Renzel and, and Corsinsky and all these guys have that kind of mentality
and confidence because you can get some wins at this, at this stage of the, of the season
that can give you some good feelings to end the year.
And that's going to be important for those guys to have that experience to roll in the
next year where you're going to lean on a lot more young guys to kind of carry more of
the low because that's, that's what this changing over of the, you know, chapters of the
Black Hawks is about and, and we're seeing the guys that are going to be those building
blocks, getting that experience, I want that.
I want that for them so that they're not, they're not trying to figure it out next season
when they're going to be in the even younger team, you want to, you want them to be able
to take these final 20 plus games and, and close the season strong with those, those habits
and, and that mentality, like that's, that's the big thing you want.
So win like this, great for nothing, solder boom, shut out, like this is, I'm, I am very
happy with this win.
This team, this team needed it, Black Hawks fans needed it, like this, this was a much
needed win.
If you're not, I'm wondering what your true interests are in this team.
It's time to nominate our game, puck nominees, game day, men's health, better father, better
husband, better man, go to game day, men's health, visit game day, chjo.com to find locations
closest to you.
I think, uh, of it, solder bloom is an obvious one.
I think table Terabinans and obvious ones will throw those two in there.
Anyone else you want to add for sure, I'm Nick Flino with this 250th goal, sure of
his career.
Sure.
Give him, give him plus two.
Give him the nod, the nomination, Alex Flasick too, he had a tremendous game.
Um, a lot of, a lot of moments where he was deep in the offensive zone doing the right
things.
Yep.
Played with, it just seemed like he played with a lot of confidence and transition was
skating the puck really well, um, played good defensively, like all around like a really
good game for him.
Yes.
Uh, he was at the assist and played 2412, uh, well ahead of any other defense been the
next person behind him was Murphy with 2126.
So almost a three minute advantage over counter Murphy.
So great game for Alex Flasick.
Love it.
Get those votes in.
We'll reveal the winner towards the end.
There should be Sodder Bloom, but just so those guys had got the nomination, say
acknowledgement.
Yeah.
Acknowledgements are their good performances.
All right.
We'll talk to everybody in two minutes on CHC Oblachox.

We are back on CHGO black hawk set got a super chat.
We want to make sure we get to here from skate salons and says somebody told Lev Shinoff
that it's okay to be physical in this league.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, where he was using his using his body the right way.
Great.
Hey, that's, that's a building block of, of what we were talking about the last couple
of games and before the game too, like maturing and using all those tools, one of those
tools that, that he's going to have an advantage of over some guys in the NHL is his physical
stature and his ability to use his body to his advantage that's, it's, it's a learning
moment and he's learning that good, lay some hits, be physical, win board battles, all
that stuff.
Yes.
Today, 1704 of ice I'm had an assist was plus one, three shots on goal.
He had five shot attempts.
I already mentioned two hits was tagged with a giveaway and two block shots.
This is definitely his best game since the Olympic break.
There's no question about that.
I think it's been his, probably the best game when it was last 10 or so.
He was really solid in sitting too.
Yeah.
And the numbers were, yeah, I'm saying his last 10.
Yeah.
He was earlier in the game, like in the, I think it was in the third period early.
He had like really insane analytics like his, his, his, his goals is like 80%.
Expect the goals percentage was 80%.
It ended actually under 50 was 48.30.
So when the mammoth were on the ice, sort of peppering the hawks late, just trying to throw
everything he had on the ice.
He was on the ice for one of those and it kind of tanked his, his metrics, but still 51
0.52% of course he rating 54 or 17 if you prefer Fenwick shots for nine four or five
against with him on the ice, scoring chances were eight, four, nine against with him on
the ice, high danger chances five to four in favor of the hawks.
So I just a solid game from him moving the puck playing with confidence.
I think the physicality comes with confidence too, right?
If he's not thinking about, I can't make a mistake.
I can't make a mistake.
He's going to be more willing to finish a check on somebody, but way better along the
boards, way better moving the puck again, with any sort of young defenseman, there's going
to be ups and downs.
Today was definitely an up for our much and all I thought.
Yeah.
Yeah, it was, it was a really good game and, you know, he, he needed it like the, again,
keep coming back to the confidence of this team, but like these guys need these kinds
of performances and, and I think when you can stack up those plays where you're executing
the right way, it just, it just builds.
So I'm, I'm happy for a left turn off to have the game that he did.
You, you want to see him doing those things that made him stand out as one of the top
defensemen in his draft class that show you like what he can be and, you know, he's
not, I don't think overnight he's going to snap his fingers and show you all of those
tools all in one game, but if you can stack up some performances where he's really good
defensively, he's really good jumping in offensively, he's playing physical, he's playing
smart.
Like you get those moments and then you build on that and then you can feel like the rest
of his game is coming along all, all at once, like it, it, it starts with small steps.
And I think, you know, there's been big moments for him, some stretches of games where
there's been really good.
And then when stretches of games become really bad, you got to start kind of getting back
to those small things.
And it's not necessarily like the development is like going up and then it goes down.
But sometimes it just kind of goes up and then it flattens off and then you got to find
out a way to avoid it going down and make sure that if it does flatten off, you find
something that jumps it back up again.
And you don't want to lose to be quite as low.
Exactly.
Yeah.
Every defenseman's going to have a game where they said, oh boy, I was definitely not
on my best, but it just cannot be a, you know, a comedy, a comedy of errors of just mistake
after mistake after mistake that can't, you can't live with that.
You can live with it a little bit now in the development phase.
And the fact that there are well, a lot of a playoff spot here, you're, you're willing
to absorb that a little bit.
But look, I think there's been over his recent stretch of not great play.
There's been a lot of kind of doom and gloom around Levchenov.
Well, we have seen this season, the flashes of what was there when they picked him a second
overall, right?
Like, yeah, there have been a lot of those moments where you go, oh, you know, the Leonardo
Caprio meme of him pointing at the screen.
And when we talk about Kevin Cortinsky, who we're going to sort of transition to here now,
you haven't seen those moments yet in his career, right?
Like there haven't been those flashes so far.
I thought today he was better for sure.
So a 1027 was a plus one credit with a shot on goal.
Again, 10 minutes is in a ton.
I, I did notice that flash was playing him more during the third period.
He did actually end up with more nothing.
You give those guys that you haven't given a lot of minutes to.
Yeah, he was 10, 10 shot attempts for five against with him on the ice.
He was on the ice for a goal, obviously scoring chances four to one for the hawks, one
nothing, high danger chances.
So nothing disastrous.
There was one nice defensive play he made in the first period, but it was also because
he had made a mistake right before that.
Yeah.
And he was able to kind of bail himself out and make the play.
But you're not noticing him in a negative way.
You want to notice him way more in the positive.
I want to notice him way more because he's gaining the trust of the coaching staff that
he can play more than eight and 10 minutes.
Yeah, I mean, when you are getting sheltered minutes like that coming out at a zero or
a net positive is the best thing that you can do.
And you know, last game eight and a half minutes didn't have some great plays.
This game, 10 and change and had a few good plays like that's again, come back to it.
It's, it's baby steps for some of these guys trying to make sure that their development
is going in in the right direction.
And I still assume that a larger role is coming for a Corchanski towards the end of this
season because of the trade deadline and the likelihood that Murphy has moved.
That's a defensive spot that you're going to likely give to Corchanski and allow him
to, you know, play a bit more get get a little bit more responsibility.
There was a moment to I think it was in the third period where he made a really good
play to stop the mammoth in transition in the neutral zone, turn it back into the offensive
zone and it led to an extended offensive zone possession opportunity for the hawks like
that.
Those things that aren't going to show up on a stat sheet are big for a lot of young
defensemen.
So, Corchanski getting moments like that is good.
Imagine his minutes will go up eventually and that's just what you want to seek.
Even if it's 10 minutes, make the most of your 10 minutes and make sure that your 10 minutes
are useful and you're not hurting the team in a limited role because if he had gone
out and played 10 minutes and looked like butt cheeks tonight, then then your sound sound
in alarm bells that like this, are we getting to a point where he has no faith to be played
right because then that's a big that's a big problem.
I think part of the reason for this was the four nothing lead.
But as I said earlier, you saw him get more and more shifts in the third period.
And I don't know maybe we'll hear this from Jeff Flash, I'm not sure if you if you mentioned
it at all yet, but maybe that was a sign of all right, I saw some things I liked.
Let's throw them back out there and and give them an opportunity and see what you can
do and give them a few more shifts than we had been giving him the last game and the
first two periods here.
And I think you responded fine.
I want to see more of course, we all want to see more of course.
But those little gradual steps where he can earn the trust of Jeff Flash, I'm going
to earn him those opportunities.
I think right now, Jeff Flash was probably a little bit dubious about Kevin Kortzinski
based on probably what he has seen in short glimpses and what he's heard coming from Rockford
about him.
You know, it's, it's, he does not play the kind of game that Jeff Flash, I love.
And it's going to be up to him to coach, I didn't know I never think Kevin Kortzinski
will never be a shut down defenseman.
That's not what he was drafted to be.
But the defensive play has to, has to take a step up if he's going to give those opportunities
defensive or offensively.
Yeah.
And I think probably too with Flash, all his mindset is probably again, preaching some
patience to Kortzinski of like, we know that you're here.
We know that you're going to play.
So like, for him, I think he's not living in a moment to moment reactionary kind of
timeline.
Like we operate in, where we do where every moment, every game is, you know, the highest
of highs, the lowest of lows.
So I think for Blashley, he's probably thinking Kortzinski's here.
He's getting his feet wet because we're going to eventually get to a spot soon where
he's going to need to swim in deeper waters.
Yeah.
So he's probably not thinking like, especially last game where it was like, Rinzel's
sick.
Kortzinski is going to be in.
Okay.
Well, let's play him 20 minutes.
Like I don't, I would imagine that he's not thinking like that, specifically with regards
to Kortzinski and, and I think too like with what they've done in this mini training camp,
where they've tried to kind of implement different ways that they want to like work out
of their own defensive zone, he's probably not throwing that at Kortzinski, who hasn't
been around the NHL all season to where like, Hey, you're going to be here for a week,
learn this new thing and be trusted with it for 20 minutes a night.
Again, it's, it's a bit of an easy and in thing and it's one of those things that they
tried to implement that as we mentioned at the beginning, like we're kind of seeing
some of those things now in game three since the break, starting to kind of come together.
Yeah.
We're going to hit the break zone one more time.
You hit the like button while we're in the break zone.

We were blessed by the Utah media with some post came quotes from the Mammoth and Mario
found some interesting ones over the break.
Yeah.
Utah head coach Andre tourney is given it to his team in the post game question about the
overall game.
Quote.
I am obviously extremely disappointed about all of us coaches and players.
I think we have to be much better.
There is no reason that game should ever happen that kind of effort in front of our fans.
I am really disappointed in us that cannot happen again on team connection.
That's a good question.
I don't know how you play like that.
I do not have much explanation for why our head was in that space.
I don't know on changing any elements of the game.
No.
I don't know.
Other than Paturka's line, I don't think we did one good thing tonight.
And then this one was this one I found a bit interesting on overconfident on being
overconfident or under prepared quote.
That is a good question in the sense that's what we need to beat up and figure it out.
At the end of the day, we are we are serious about our business and who is on the other
side.
We need two points every night and we are in a hell of a race.
We need to take that game and learn from it and that has to hurt big time.
We need to make sure that doesn't happen again.
If that's the purpose of that game, it is what it is.
But there is no reason for us to play like that.
I mean, he's not wrong.
Some pointed words.
It's not wrong.
To the Utah man.
Well, that was the original take brought you by Hooters bring the team to Hooters for
some bonding.
Check them out at original Hooters.com.
Yeah, that's that's something we just got a 50-hour super chat, by the way.
This is from Stefan, you're a coach, I'm sorry if I said that wrong.
Yeah, we've they are stuff and you're they've chimed in before and we've had this same
conversation about their name.
It's I believe it is Stefan.
Stefan.
Yeah.
Over from Sweden.
Yes.
Yes.
As Beijing grads, I've installed on your first NHL shut out from my hometown of Gothenburg
Sweden.
I just served his grandma at a grocery store.
Oh, yeah.
There we go.
That news is served with divorce papers.
No, I'm just kidding.
It was a check around, I'm sure.
Like cashier even.
They served her.
That's right.
Here it is.
It served at a grocery store.
Yeah, I brought you.
There you go.
All right.
Yeah.
That's cool.
Shout out to grandma.
Yeah, that's awesome.
We appreciate that.
Thank you for that.
Stefan.
And now we have a shout out this year from night, commesso, and sorrow.
Yeah.
Three for three.
All three goalies that have played have gotten a shut out.
This is what we expected.
Our over of point five has come in on the air, hammered that over, yeah, absolutely.
You mentioned it earlier.
You had a game where counter-bordard didn't score, and you still won.
But, but our still looking really, really good today.
Yeah.
Four shots on goal, five shot attempts.
Every time he was on the ice, he was dangerous, played 1857 in this one.
So not as usual.
He's usually into 20s.
I think yesterday he played a 23 or something yesterday, somewhere in the, you know,
load 20s.
But man, he was, I think you're up for nothing.
Maybe you dial him back a little bit in the third, just to protect him.
But man, I've just loved what he has had since coming back from the Olympic break.
He was, he has been awesome.
And the thing you want to see from him is, as you see from, you know, make David and
McKinnon and these guys, when you start to talk about that echelon of player, where when
they're on the ice, you're scared as an opponent.
But Dard has kind of been that guy since the break sounded where every time he's on the
ice, something bad is happening for the opponents.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He's, he's come back very motivated.
Which is great.
I mean, it's, I, I think he's already, he's already has that motivation.
He has an internal drive.
But I think having the rest period during the, the break just gives him a little bit more
of that self confidence that he's not really nursing anything.
He's not, you know, he's able to kind of feel like he can do what, what he's supposed
to out there.
So, yeah, it, it feels like he's come back and, you know, I don't know if he's got a personal
vendetta to go out and prove something, but far be it for me to think that he's not
got a little bit of extra juice coming back and, and wanting to, you know, push, uh,
himself and, and push the team.
Well, we have an update from Stefan and, uh, we don't have the juice we thought either.
Uh, 50, what is it?
50 Corona is $5 US, you know, I mean, we still appreciate it.
Still appreciate it.
That's really great.
But the 50 looks really good on the super chat.
Sure.
And he does clarify.
It was not divorce papers.
He didn't serve, uh, his garbage grandmother is the cashier.
So yes.
And he says, uh, I've our sendberg place for his hometown team for London.
Would love to see him in Chicago.
Yes, please.
Yes.
That would be great.
I would love that.
Hey, man, we're, we're happy to see you gave us 50 hour super chat.
We appreciate your honesty, but we're happy to run with it because it just looked ill
at great on the screen.
Currency exchange is not my number one, uh, subject back in school.
And pen effort says, I love I heal Lingenberry soda.
Well, who doesn't wait?
Lingenberry soda.
Yeah.
Really?
Oh, yeah.
I love Lingenberry.
Certainly.
I do, I do really like, uh, Lingenberry jam.
I really only have it once a year, uh, when we do, um, uh, yeah, friends group and I, uh,
do you all board, which is around Christmas time makes, but it's, but it's very good.
Yeah.
So, uh, oh, man, that as a soda would be pretty sweet.
Yeah.
I'm sure it's dialed down a little bit, you know, like a cherry coke kind of a thing.
You know, like a cherry sprites.
I would try.
From a freestyle machine.
I would try it.
The light full.
So good.
So good.
Those freestyle machines, man, when those debuted back in like the late 2000s, if you,
if you're a restaurant had one of those, you were a five star, you know, I just think
it just doesn't, uh, it does, it's just not as good.
It's got a, it's got a different taste to it than, to me, I mean, you don't go to one
of those machines and get a normal soda, well, you get something weird.
Yeah.
That's true.
I like to get the diet barks with vanilla.
That's pretty good.
Is there one of the rare places I can get a spray zero with whatever flavor mixed into
what I want?
No, I want like a cherry banana wild cherry Pepsi or something like that.
That's a lot of.
No, I want a weird flavor.
I want like, I want Fanta with like a pineapple and Tahine seasoning or something like
I want.
I want something weird from those.
They have the, uh, Wendy's has the cream soda.
That's really good.
Um, but to me, I mean, obviously the best soda is a hooters.
We all know that.
But if you can't drive through hooters, as far as I know, what a, man, what a feature
of that would be.
What are through hooters?
A direct hell here.
Sign me up for that.
But the, the Krispie boy from McDonald's, the Diet Coke is unmatched and, uh, it's true.
These, these machines can't match it.
They can't.
You want to know what the best soda is?
Yes.
Einstein's Einstein bagels.
Yes.
Really?
Yes.
Nothing.
Probably.
I think it's not one specific, I mean, they still have like the really, really old
machines.
So I think there's just a lot more syrup in it.
But that is by far the best soda I've ever had in Einstein.
The original, uh, the original recipe for Coca-Cola, which had cocaine in it.
That's probably what it is.
I just, I just sprinkle some into mine just for old time sakes, pull it out of your
pocket.
Yeah.
Yeah.
A little bag in my, uh, in my backpack.
Who doesn't?
No big deal.
It does.
Um, hey, we've made it, uh, 40 minutes.
Hold on.
Almost 41 minutes.
And if not said Andre Barikovsky yet, you know, why at this point, go back and listen,
go back and listen to yesterday's show or the, the, the, the game before, um, did he
kill the team tonight?
No.
Was he much better?
Barely.
Um, I don't expect there to be changes because I'm sure, uh,
based off of the hawks, uh, internal numbers or whatever, um, I'm sure he had a great game
and he'll stay right there at the top of the, uh, the lineup and we'll garble about
it and move on.
I, I just, I, I just think like a game like tonight, um, yeah, he didn't have a great
game.
But I, I think it's, I think there's more to be happy about in this game than there
is to dwell on.
Yeah.
That's just me.
Am I getting lighter and darker on the screen?
People in the chat.
Can you tell me if I'm getting lighter or darker?
It feels like the, the light above me is either going on or off.
It's weird.
Are you okay?
I mean, hey, you want a cocaine-filled joke?
I think I already had a word.
I'm going to be the problem, uh, just for, just for, since it's a, it's a hot topic
in Black Hawk's land, Burakowski, 1604, no goals, no assists, no pluses, no minuses,
no shots, no shot attempts, no miss shots.
Is that Burakowski or Burakowski's cycle?
And he had a hit.
So it was not Lucas Rackle.
Oh, okay.
One hit for Andre Burakowski.
That is a single stat note for Andre Burakowski in this game.
Yeah.
So, hey, no giveaways.
No, at least none categorized as Star Wars.
Yeah.
Again, I, I don't think he had a great game, but he didn't kill the team and they won
for nothing.
So it becomes an afterthought in this vacuum of this game.
Yes.
A lot of people, by the way, talking about your guy, Frank Sirvalley's list about next
year's roster.
My guy.
What?
Far from my guy.
He presented the Black Hawk's forward lines today.
And he had Bedard, Green Burakowski, Nazar, Frontel, Cancerov, Moore, Bertuzzi, Lardis,
Nato, Mystery Center, and Tabo.
That's his projected lineup for next year.
So it's every player that's in house, except Mystery Center.
We don't know who that is.
Scroll ahead.
Does it reveal something?
No, I don't think it reveals anything.
I think it just goes to the D pair.
Oh, he says the challengers.
I didn't see the segment.
This was a from the the CHSM pregame.
I was too focused on doing the CHGO pregame.
So he says other roster challengers are Doc Slager and Savois.
Savois?
Yep.
And then has the D pairs as Vlasik Lepshanov, Kaiser Krevier, Del Mastro and Renzil.
Okay.
It's a lot of a team.
So they're so they're adding nobody.
No, they're adding Mystery Center to the fourth line.
Mystery.
That's going to be the offseason acquisition, apparently, as a fourth line center.
Okay.
Sure.
I mean, those are all players that are currently on the team.
Kevin Gortzinski is a challenger on defense.
Okay.
There's your challenger.
Okay.
Yeah.
All right.
I.
I'm not going to disagree that any of those players are in training camp with a good chance
of getting on the roster.
Maybe it's next.
I mean, it's.
Okay.
I got to say Sam has been in our chat for like the last couple of weeks asking about
Nick Schmaltz.
I don't know where this is coming from, but Nick Schmaltz has a is a UFA after this
year.
He's 30 right now.
He's coming off a 5.85 million dollar contract.
I don't think Nick Schmaltz is bad by any means, but I just don't know reunion tour.
I don't know if I'm missing something Sam, if I'm missing something, let us know in
the chat.
I don't know if you heard anything or, I don't know, I mean, he's he's been having good
season.
He's a good player.
Yes.
You know, I don't know who spot he's taking.
Mystery center.
He could be mystery fourth line center guy.
If I mean, if you're getting Nick Schmaltz, he's not on the fourth lane.
I would imagine that.
No.
Yeah.
I mean, sure.
And I would believe that if Nick Schmaltz were to come back to Chicago, he could be an
effective player.
Yes.
Mystery.
I just, I don't know whose radar that would be on probably not Kyle Davidson's, but I
would be completely completely okay with that.
Yeah.
It doesn't seem like a Kyle Davidson thing.
I don't know.
We'll see.
All right.
We have to tell you about something very cool happening this week.
On Wednesday, March 4th, it is our fourth anniversary here at CCHGL.
We made it past the six month mark.
We did.
We collab with free agent and CHGL and these will be available.
You can see my under screen now.
These limited edition designs.
Once they're sold, they are gone.
We'll be there at leaders on Madison Street, 1152 West Madison from noon to 7 p.m.
There's going to be a CHGL crew hanging out there.
I know big days planning to be in there.
I'm going to be there around noon.
So coming out by some of this limited edition merch, you can only get it at this event
and once everything is sold, it is sold and there is no more.
I love the designs that they're very cool.
Can you throw them up again?
We'll put together.
We got the CHGL multi script t-shirt and then the CHGL, the long sleeve crew neck with
the children of Chicago, the depictions of Chicago greats, like baby baseball player for
the Cubs that wore 21.
And baby baseball player for the white socks that wore 35.
And baby black hawk who wore 88 and baby bowl who wore 23 and baby bear who wore 34.
Yes.
There you go.
Babies, not the actual players, just the babies.
But I love that design.
That brings me back to when I was a kid in the late mid 90s when that style of design
was everywhere.
You get pictures of all of your favorite sports teams as children looking at the field
or whatever.
I think I had one of Michael Jordan when I was a kid or I think it might have been like
the 96 bowls or something like that.
I love that design.
That shirt is coming home with me for sure.
All right.
We'll see you there when say noon to seven at leaders on Madison.
Come on by, say hi and grab some limited edition merch to celebrate our fourth anniversary.
Yes.
And Chicago's birthday.
And Chicago's birthday.
Yes.
We plan that nicely when we launched here at CHG.
It was a great coincidence.
All right.
Let's hear from Black Hawks head coach Jeff Blaschel.
He spoke after the game.
This courtesy of the Black Hawks.
It seemed like defensively kind of perfect execution was what Harvard was saying and do you
feel like it was saying what you were looking for?
Yeah.
I think how though we put really good defensive overall.
You know what?
But I thought we did that the other night as well.
I think you're coming out of the break.
We've played pretty good.
We've been limited a lot of chances.
The difference probably tonight was we broke the puck out really, really, really well.
So then you don't have to defend as much.
I think that's probably the biggest difference.
As I said, you know, after last game, I thought there was as the game along and thought we
did a better, better job of breaking the puck out.
We showed some of those before the game.
I thought we carried that forward today.
And so when you can break it out, then you have the puck attacking and we can be, I think
that's when we've been a really good team.
I know we've got the foiling about Arty and it felt like he was in control a little bit
of an offensive minority and then just kind of all around.
Yeah.
I thought all around he had a good game.
I thought he was physical.
Again, the package is what's going to make him a special player and it's the physicality,
the good defense and the ability to move the puck and create some offerings.
So I thought he had a real strong game and I was, you know, I think he's again come out.
I think he's played three real solid games.
I know he's had a mistake that's led to some goals, but overall I think his play's been
good.
So I think he had one of his games of the year, how did that stack up for you?
I'll say this.
I think Flash has played pretty good for, you know, the whole month of January and then
coming out of the break, I think he's played good.
He was excellent tonight.
You know, he's a big, big guy that can skate like that.
That's a, that's a weapon and he's skated the puck out of trouble a ton.
Obviously he created some offerings for us.
You know, when you can skate like that, you can skate it up and then you can kind of
win your race on the way back as well.
So, you know, he had a, it was a really, really strong game for him, but I think he's played
very well for a long time.
I'm assuming those are really different from all of us out of the world.
Yeah, yeah.
I mean, guys are happy for SOTY.
Like, you know, if you think about it, SOTY's been putting some tough spots, you know,
the life of backup goalie sometimes you get some tough games and we've kind of, you know,
let them kind of hung him out the drive a few times, be honest with you.
I mean, and so I think everybody has really happened for him.
He's a great, great teammate.
He just, he's a great professional, goes about his business and does his job.
And so, guys were, guys were, you know, eager on the bench to try to get that done from him.
Slattering and flooring, pulling up a scarf, are you just, how is it good is it to get
fourth line scoring just to death scoring today?
Yeah, it's something, you know, we probably haven't had enough of just scoring in general.
So, you know, to get that, I think it's real important.
I've done, they had some efficient shifts where they weren't out there long,
but they, you know, obviously, when they were able to connect them, you know,
the slagger goal, you know, that was execution.
It was execution out the face off that led to that goal.
You know, Fliggie is great hands around the net.
I think that that was his 250th, what a great number for him, man.
That's a, that's a great job.
How much is that having three goals in the head?
Some real, you guys have played so many high ones?
Yeah, I know, and especially when you happen one enough, you know,
it's nice to get one with a little bit of breathing room and find a way to get that
and hopefully continue to boost their confidence.
For on 13 power play opportunities, these three games have seen me pattern
and what's, you know, creating more opportunities for that.
Hard to say, I think there's times, you know, there was times tonight
where it was a, you know, a little bit from skating, I think, you know,
when we can skate like, like we're capable of, you know,
I put skies in tough spots and sometimes, you know,
that's when you get some tripping panels and stuff like that.
So hard to say, we're just going to have to continue our process of playing good hockey.
All right, that's Jeff Lassel.
Thanks to the Black Hawks for using that video.
I ended there talking about the power play.
I can tell you what the difference is, zone entries.
It's very simple.
That's what the problem was when they were on the O for 7,000 streak,
they were on as they couldn't get the damn puck in the zone.
Now they're getting the puck in the zone with row to ease.
And when they got back against Nashville, once it was in that trouble,
keeping it in, they still got a power play goal in that game.
They got a power play goal yesterday against Colorado.
Three should they got one today.
Yeah.
And I think you're stay of power play goals.
I heard Rick Ball say this in four of the last five games.
So before the break, it makes a big difference when your power play is effective.
Belly Kill has been outstanding.
Now that's something that we're going to have to keep an eye on.
If and when Dickinson and Murphy and potentially Ilya McKayev are all treated,
those are three huge parts, so huge parts of why your penalty kill is great.
But you know, the power play looks a lot better.
And I think the tweaks they made over the break,
that was they worked on that every practice.
They're, they're getting results.
And the other thing too, as you talked about wanting this team to experience
wins in the win column and pick up points, it's the same thing with the power
play is if they start scoring consistently in the power play,
they're going to be more confident in those zone entries aren't going to be guys
thinking and worrying about doing the wrong thing.
And not wanting to do just go, just go.
I mean, that's what we've been saying all along.
It's just have the confidence to carry the puck in with speed.
And when they do that, they're hard to stop.
It's a fast team.
It's a fast roster.
So use it and they have that and it's been working.
Yeah.
You don't want guys out there over, over processing too many things.
Right.
Like you want, you want it to feel like I'm making this is decision.
I'm confident in it.
It's going to work like you want them to have that, that mentality.
You know, on them out there, I'm going to say something that I don't think many
people have heard before when it comes to hockey.
You don't want them out there gripping their sticks too hard.
No, no turning them to sawdust.
That's right.
I've heard that once or twice.
Yeah, yeah, in all my years, yes.
All right.
It's time to award our game day mental health game puck winner.
It is Arvid Saarblum, his first career shut out.
22 saves.
No surprise.
Great game for him.
Well done.
Arvid, a better father, a better husband, a better man.

When we heard from Jeff Flash, he also had a lot of praise for Alex Flasick
and Ardom Lesanov, but why don't we hear from Alex Flasick,
who spoke after the win?
Was it kind of a sigh relief to get a win like this?
Yeah, I mean, I think more importantly, it was just a really good win all
around it.
You know, it didn't feel like we gave them many chances.
I felt like we played a really solid team game and everybody contributed.
So I think that was the biggest, biggest takeaway for us in it.
The defense was lights up.
What you guys, what do you see?
Yeah, I think like I said, I think we all kind of just bought in.
We knew that, you know, they're obviously a really high skilled offensive team.
And if we just kind of played some solid defensive hockey, that we were going
to get our chances for you.
It seemed like you were activating offensively and made some things happen.
Did you just kind of feel like you had it going today?
Yeah, I mean, I think sometimes the legs are going sometimes are not.
I think the high altitude and Colorado kind of got me last night.
But yeah, I felt like, you know, I was skating the puck well and taking the chances
when they were given to me and, yeah, I felt like my legs were kind of chugging along tonight.
How did you feel in the first two games coming out of the break?
Like you feel like there's a continuation of progress for you?
Yeah, definitely.
I mean, I think it was a little weird taking three weeks off and coming in and playing some hockey.
I think the hardest thing was was kind of mentally just getting yourself back into the rhythm
of playing a hockey game in the systems and, you know, your responsibilities and the d's on and what not.
But yeah, I think we're all kind of, you know, getting back to mid season form here.
And tonight was a good showing for everybody.
You play them two more times.
And I think the next 10-day do kind of see today as a tone setter for those two other games against you.
Definitely, yeah, I mean, you know, it's a division rival.
So, you know, we're excited to keep playing them.
I think we come back here, you know, pretty soon.
So, yeah, it's nice to kind of get some games against a similar team, you know, a familiar team.
And you're able to kind of get some pre-scouts and things like that.
But yeah, it'll be a good competitive game in the next two games.
What have you seen from RD?
Some C came back in the lineup.
Like it seemed like he was, you know, defensively the best he's been in the wild tonight.
Yeah, tonight was, was excellent.
I think he was using his body, using his frame.
He's one of the, you know, one of the stronger guys out there, I think.
And it was evident tonight.
He's, you know, pushing guys around kind of bullying some guys down low.
And, you know, that's his game, I think he's obviously really skilled with the puck offensively.
And once he gets his feet moving, he's, he's fantastic.
But tonight it was, you know, an unbelievable showing from him, just defensively.
And kind of showed everybody what he's capable of.
All right, that's Alex Wastik, courtesy of the Blackhawks.
Kind of few minutes ago, we are nine likes away from 200.
Let's get a new man turned on one more time.
And you've, on the heels of Utah coach Andre Torne going, I don't know how to say it.
Going off on his team, he's going to have a chance for several chances for revenge here soon.
Yeah, we're going to get familiar with the Utah team over the next couple of days.
Played him today and then they play them twice more in the next about 10 days.
On the ninth at home, and then they play them, it's back to back matchups, but three days in between.
They'll play them on the ninth and then on the road again in Utah on the 12th.
So it's, it's very rare.
I feel like that you see a team three times over a six game period in the regular season.
Yeah, that's pretty wild. Really weird.
I noticed too is we're, you know, looking ahead to the schedule here.
I mean, boy, they've, they only played them once this year ahead of before this one.
Just once, yeah, once this year was, uh, what was it like the fourth game of the year?
Yeah, really early.
Yeah, fourth game of the year was the first win of the season.
Who could forget what a time to be alive.
Yes, that was good.
Um, also want to mention, uh, facing the mammoth, you're, you're kind of talking about how the PK has been really good.
That best in the league this season.
Uh, Tevo scoring a shorthanded first shorthanded goal given up by the mammoth this season.
Uh, so good job by, uh, Rick Ball and friend of the program, Tony Granado for mentioning that on the broadcast because it eventually a jinx is real.
Uh, as I always say, jinx is a real, um, catchphrase, it, uh, it, it, it worked, it worked and they gave up the, uh, the shorty.
So good for Tevo to have a game like that.
Hopefully that sparks a little bit more, uh, production from him.
Because I feel like with his production, not being what it has been in previous years, and especially last season, um, to get him back to that to that point would be good.
I think he's, I think he's, he's like hiding against the wall.
You'll never take me alive, coppers.
There he goes. He's good.
Got to lose in your noodle every now and again.
All right, sure do.
There he is. You sure do.
He's back. Thank you for the likes, everybody. We appreciate that.
Very, very much, uh, close the show with noodle man.
Absolutely.
And now he won't turn off once you get a noodle man going.
It's hard to get him over if he's going, if he's going for four hours.
Call it a doctor.
All right.
We're going to wrap things up.
We are off tomorrow.
We are back Tuesday for a post game and pregame.
What time is the old puck dropper ruin?
Uh, they play at, uh, 7 p.m.
Beautiful.
That's a six to three.
I'm sorry.
Nine, wait, 9 p.m.
That can't be right.
No, 7 p.m.
Hawks of jets.
So 630 pregame.
7 p.m.
What?
Yes.
You said 7 p.m.
Why do you say 10 p.m.
I said 7 p.m.
Okay.
Not only 10 p.m.
7 p.m.
Either way, whether 630 pregame show a reasonable time to have a central time zone game.
Yes.
I agree with that.
Jonathan Taves versus the black Hawks again.
All right.
Hello, book.
Hello, the Buick.
You might be a net.
That'd be fun.
I mean, looking at the goal he gave up tonight to Michael Misa, you might be catching them
at the right time.
Benches ass.
Still hung over from the gold medal game.
All right.
We'll talk to everybody Tuesday at 630 for the pregame show.
We have a mini pod dropping tomorrow.
We have a mini pod dropping tomorrow.
What time?
3 p.m.
3 p.m.
If you like.
Yes.
Trade talk.
Oh, we talk trades.
We sure do.
All right.
We've got 630 pregame Tuesday.
Talk to you then on CHGO Black Hawks.
