At the moment, it's never ordinary, it bet365, your Chicago Black Hawk's not ours, we're
disowning them.
Loose for nothing to the Columbus Blue Jackets in Columbus, and I'm not trying to take
anything away from the Blue Jackets, they're red hot, they played very well, but a very,
very frustrating, frustrating game to watch.
That is for sure.
Yeah, I, the turnovers were really bad, again, it's been a, and it wasn't just Andre
Berkowski tonight, although he did have, you know, he has to have them, he's contractually
obligated to have them, but Bidard had some tonight, you know, some mental mistakes,
one of the Ryan DeNatto hit on Mason Marchment, getting back at him was, was nice, but when
you, when you change, immediately after laying that hit and you're in the defensive zone,
and they score right away, one of their four goals tonight, man, it takes the, it takes
the like, umph out of that play because it ended up immediately in the back.
Well, look, I mean, it is an example of what was happening all over the ice in all different
ways, a lack of discipline.
I understand Ryan DeNatto took a bad hit.
I understand that Ryan DeNatto should have been pissed, but if you're strong enough to
skate from behind the goal line to nearly the blue line to deliver hit, stay on the ice
and defend.
If you're going off the ice because you're so hurt, you need a line change, fine, but
don't lay a guy out, either you're strong enough to defend or you're not.
It was a lack of discipline from Ryan DeNatto, and we saw it for the entire team all night.
Yeah, I'm, yeah, Jeff Blaschle talked about it yesterday.
He talked about it this morning, um, the fact that you don't want to have guys treating
it like the last day of school before Christmas break.
You don't want them checked out.
And this game, uh, you know, two goals in the first period that they give up, uh, you
get the third one in the second period, empty netter makes it for nothing.
The team was never, even the second period where they're pushing, um, it still just felt
like out of reach, disconnected.
And Nick Flito said in the first intermission, like they weren't finding their game.
They weren't engaged enough and it just felt like as much as you keep saying, like, don't
take it off, don't take the night off, you like lock in, it didn't feel like they did.
So no, they shouldn't.
And it doesn't help that you lose Colton doc and why guys are in the process, um, but
beyond that this, that wasn't the reason they lost for nothing tonight.
No, it was turnovers.
It was sloppy play.
It was lack of putting pucks on net or in the nets, uh, 18 giveaways for the black hawks
tonight, 21 miss shots, 21 kind of, but I already had a shot on goal, another shot attempt
that was blocked and five miss shots, missing the net completely.
Ryan Denado had a look that completely missed the net, like that is not being tired.
That is not being young.
That is a lack of focus and a lack of situational awareness.
There's a moment and I think Brandon Sliger played very good today.
He was the highest rated hawk of what it's whatever category you want to look at.
But they're down three nothing.
He gets a shorthanded potential, chance to score, right?
Again, three nothing in the third period.
You're killing a penalty.
Uh, and that penalty came over halfway through the third.
27 or gone.
And instead he just peels up and then dumps it back into defensive zone.
Okay.
Is that a smart, safe play?
Yes, it is.
But you're down three nothing with eight minutes left in the game and you've got an opportunity
to put a puck on that.
It's a lot of that stuff with this team is the situational awareness of like you just
can't down big.
You can't be circling around.
You got to pepper the goal.
And I do think like they played better starting at the back half of the second period.
They did have a little bit of an edge in play, but it's way too late.
You're down three nothing.
But then and all Columbus is going to do a sit back and we're just going to wait for
you to make a mistake and the hawks were happy to do it all night long.
Yeah.
I mean, it's.
You want to have the attacking mentality, um, but I mean, I mean, I get what Sliger
is doing.
I think he's self-aware in that moment where yeah, he might have a chance to kind of rush
use his speed, maybe take it to the net, maybe see what happens, but on the PK, he's not
the guy to do that.
Ilya McKay have doing that.
I trust a little bit more.
Sliger, yeah, like unless you're unless you know you got a guy beat, I'd rather not, but
even still.
What's going to happen?
They're going to score.
Yeah.
I know what you're saying.
You still want to have the guys be able to, you know, feel like that they can in any situation
try and, you know, go for it.
But I feel like that's probably a mentality thing at that at that stage of the game where
and it's not good.
I'm not advocating that they have this mentality, but it's probably a mentality thing of like
midway through the third period down three nothing the way things have been going.
I'm 10 minutes away from a two from two weeks off, like playing it safe and I don't
know.
I think in the sense my mindset is from 10 minutes away from a vacation and we're down
three nothing.
Effort.
I'm going to give everything I have.
And if I, if I get dinged up, then I get dinged up and I've got three weeks of recover
from it.
I, it felt like that was a mindset going into the game.
We saw Nick Folino after the first period pissed saying we didn't come out ready.
We talked about pretending against this and then he left.
You mentioned that and then with the game ends, Nick Folino breaks his stick over the
awning on his way back to the locker room.
He, I don't know, man, I'm just, stuff like this concerns me and I'm not, I don't want
to make too much out of one game.
But you have been told over and over over the last couple days, we got to finish strong.
We don't want to land a, we cannot leave town before we leave town, right?
All those things and then sure enough, you come out in the first period and lay a wet
fart and the game's over.
It's over.
You're down three nothing 25 minutes into this game.
You don't have the firepower to bring it back.
You're down probably your most consistent and reliable defenseman.
I don't know, man, it's very disappointing.
I think it is an inexcusable performance.
I'm assuming we're going to hear from Nick Folino post game.
I know he just spoke.
I think last game too.
We'll see if he's made available.
But I expect him to be incredibly pissed about this performance because it was, it was
bad.
Yeah.
There's, there's no way to shine this up.
The best thing I can say is they made the game somewhat even in the last 30 minutes.
Is this where we're at again?
This is what we're going back to.
We're going back to the last two, three years of, hey, you know, rebuilding, no one's
here yet blah, blah, blah.
We thought we had turned a corner here and I still think they're significantly better
than last year.
The point total bears that out.
Yeah.
They're going to have a significant improvement in the sandings this year.
But this stuff, it's happening too often lately and maybe they are, maybe they're worn
out, maybe the schedule's too rough, doesn't seem to be affecting the Blue Jackets.
No, last time I checked, have some pretty young players too.
Yeah, they do.
But I mean, they've also got a more, some more established guys too.
That's, I mean, it's, it's two teams that are in different stages of, of where they went
with, you know, rebuilding and I think, yeah, I'm not going to say that, you know, things
are failing and, you know, denounce the rebuild or anything like that.
No, I'm not doing any of this games.
No, I know.
Just, I'm, I just think that this is, this is a, a situationally bad performance going
into this, going into this break.
But I think as we've been, you know, as we've been talking, like the, the break is going
to be, should be at least beneficial for a lot of these guys mentally and physically.
And as we're getting some injury updates from Jeff Blaschle, Colton Doc considered more
day-to-day after missing the game, after leaving the game, rather, and Wyatt Kaiser will
miss, quote, unquote, some time and his status after the break is going to be up in the air.
So physically recovering is going to be good for Doc and Kaiser and have some time off.
But it looks like coming back from it, maybe that's an opportunity.
I mean, you already have, well, Ranzelle, go back to Rockford, but you have a Lev Shinov
as an extra defenseman, quote unquote, so you can shoehorn for a right shot, D in there
and figure it out, have one guy play on his offside.
But maybe it's Kevin Courtson, so he coming up, maybe there's, maybe, maybe after the
break, you have some, some guys coming in, the trade deadlines coming up, like the, the,
the DNA and the makeup of this team is going to change.
And I think you want as much as possible to have good results and good vibes going
into those changes, we know that the playoff race is out of, out of reach realistically.
So the focus is now going to be on the young guys, the developments, not that it hasn't
been, but even more so.
And especially with the idea that you're getting rid of Murphy Dickinson, maybe McCay
of, maybe Fulino, who knows, that's a lot of spots are going to be open for, for
young guys to come in.
And it's, with those young guys coming in, it's, it's going to continue to look like
a rebuild, rebuilding team, even though at times this season, especially early on in
the season, it looked like, oh, maybe some corners have been turned.
It's still that long game of guys figuring out the NHL Oliver Moore, Ryan Green, still
rookies, Art and Lev Shinov, still a rookie, Sam Ranzell, still a rookie, like they're,
still figuring out the NHL, and it's going to take some time, and those are going to
be the guys, like pushing things forward through the rest of this season.
So yeah, I think it's, it's disappointing to have this kind of, uh, performance, as much
as you weren't against it, the reason you weren't against it so much is because it's almost
predictable that a team like this was going to be susceptible to a performance like this.
Yeah, I think that's probably why Nick Filippino is extra pissed because not only was he
coming back to Columbus, a place that's very special to him, it's home to him still, um,
and playing, you know, and I'm sure he wanted a better game, better result, better performance,
but also he's been around the league long enough to know games in this scenario are traps,
games, and you got to, especially with these many young guys, you got a hammer against, don't
fall into it. And as much as you do that, you still can fall into it. Yeah, I don't know,
it's just, it's just very disappointing. I was expecting a better performance. It's one, again,
Columbus is red hot, they're playing great. It's two consecutive shutouts for them, by the way.
11 wins in the last 12. It's the first time in franchise history, they have back to back
shutouts. Um, I could deal with a loss. Oh, man, it was three two or four three or, you know,
they got a lead empty netter and made a four to whatever. It was just not the last game was,
it was just, I don't know, it was, it was just not the sort of, the sort of performance I'd
expected because you felt like they should have been insulated against that because it had been
talked about to death about finishing this stretch. Strong, you had a win against the sharks,
which felt really good, considering all the crap around the sharks and Hawks thing,
you had a significant win over them. And you feel like, hey, let's, let's get a win or a good
performance on Columbus. And no, you go, you go back to the vibes you had in the, what, five games
before you beat the sharks. And now you got to sit on that for three weeks and it sucks. All right,
we got to hit the break zone. Uh, before we do, we do have to name our game day men's health
game Puck and nominees. Mario, I will give you the floor first. Thank you. Um, because, uh, you know,
take your pick. Yeah. Uh, you know, you mentioned Lennon slagert was one of the highest rated or
rather the highest rated hawk in the game. Um, I think Nick Felino seemed to be engaged in the
game as much as anybody. Uh, Oliver Moore, I think had a pretty good game to, um, I'm going to
give it to Nick Felino. Uh, he had, while he was on the ice, uh, at all strengths, he had a 77%
cursive 4% advantage, uh, and even better Fenwick at 82.3%. Uh, but also just for the fact that, um,
as if you missed the pregame or if you missed Aaron Portsline's, uh, Twitter timeline earlier today.
Yeah. Not so, uh, veiled hinting at, uh, maybe Nick Felino reuniting with the blue jackets,
maybe who knows maybe kind of quote unquote hashtag maybe, maybe, maybe. So who knows, um, but I
think if this was Felino's last game in Columbus, uh, with retirement, uh, looming, he obviously
wanted it. He wanted it tonight. So I'm going to give it to Nick for the, uh, the individual
athlete here. Here's your award for wanting the win.
Beverly laughs about, Beverly, that's a little bartender. We laughed about the question
of practice history. It's like, you guys want to win this game? Going, uh, going into a break?
Like, no, they don't. They don't want to win. Well, better question we thought. Uh, I'm going to
give it to Sam Ranzell. Um, nothing too flashy from him, but led the team in ice time by a pretty
big margin. 2542 of ice time, three shots on goal, four shot attempts, had two hits,
three block shots, it was actually tagged with three giveaways. Um, but I didn't, I don't recall
anything egregious in that way. Um, and I liked that he was aggressively getting the puck on net
on the power play. If you had a look, he was taking a look, he was making the shot attempt. I
liked that. I think that he is looked a lot more calm down and relax since he's come back. Um,
so who knows? I mean, look, if, if Y Kizer's missing time, he's going to be here. I know he's
going back to Rockford. That's the plan anyway. Mm hmm. From what we understand from Frank
Saravali the other day. Um, so more work to go for Sam Ranzell, but I thought he had a nice,
a nice game here. Well, throw another one out there for sure for, because there's no rules here.
Uh, Frank Nazar. He had a pretty good game too. Noticeable in good ways, uh, more often than not.

If you're busy, this is a game changer. All right, we are back on CHGO blackhawks. If you're
just tuning in, why a Kaiser injured in the game will miss air quotes some time. Colton Doc also
left the game and he is day to day. I guess if you're going to get injuries, this is the time to do it.
If you're going to get hurt, get hurt right before the break. Yeah. Yeah, you never want to see
guys get hurt. Obviously at any time, especially though guys like why a Kaiser who have been really
steady for this group this season and he's been relied on to you know, help carry along
Artem Levchenov from the majority of this season. He's now carrying on San Mrenzel.
It's tough to lose a guy like that that you know that the coaching staff trusts with that kind
of assignment and he's shown that he can be a steady guy that for the most part makes the right
decisions. You make really good plays that don't always show up on the stat sheet or anything like
that but it's been it's been a really good season for him so hopefully you know it's 22 days
to the next game so hopefully whatever he's dealing with doesn't make him miss that February 26
game because that would mean it's probably is pretty serious. Yeah, it did not look good if you missed
it. Zach Werencki sort of fell on his left on Kaiser's left knee. Not a dirty play at all.
Just now just the guys got tied up and you saw that left knee kind of flexed the wrong way and
could not he could put some weight on it but it had to be helped off the opening. Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, it was wrong. But I mean look, Kaiser like you said man, he has been so good.
Jeff Flash will talk about him before the game if you watch us on the pregame show.
He spoke for a few minutes about the impact Kaiser's had and that's kind of guy like
his he already got into the point where you're like yeah like set and forget you don't even
really worry about him anymore because you just know you're going to get a consistent performance
from him. Yeah, I think he's I think he's the kind of guy that you you rely on and when he has a
bad game it stands out way more because you're so used to him having net positive or or even games.
So yeah, he's at that point and for a guy that I think before the season we weren't really
penciling into factoring into the future. He's definitely put himself into that position where
you look forward and you're like you know this defensive core you got some answers to figure out
with Del Mastro and Corchinsky and Renzel and Lev Shnov like what are they all going to be where
they all going to fit. But with Kaiser, I think you have a you have a better understanding of what he
can be at this at this point in what he's shown at the NHL level. So he's he's in that mix and he's
he's probably in that longer term picture for you know who's going to be here and what kind of roles
they could play. Well look one way or another those guys you mentioned Corchinsky and and Del Mastro
at least one of them are going to be getting an extended look here at the end of the year as uh
the Hawks you know we're both guys out of you would think so and I mean I think you are at a point
I think with Del Mastro you kind of you kind of have a good idea of what you've got right I don't know
I think he is an NHL defenseman I think he's probably a bottom pair NHL defenseman maybe there's
a little more upside in three or four years with him when he totally maxes out you could trust him
as a middle pair guy Corchinsky still feels like a really big question and I think
the reason you're hearing not Kyle Davis and say it directly but people saying it via Kyle Davis
and like Frank Saravali that this team is they're moving veterans there's no hesitation about that at all
there's no thought of like maybe just maybe we'll make the playoffs no they're moving veterans
I think one of the main reasons is they have to get a better idea of where he's at any you know
got a couple games this year and he was okay and he got a couple games last year and he was okay
like you're just haven't been those um those flashes that you've been hoping for from Corchinsky
I like the most memorable play he's had as as a Black Hawk is scoring an overtime winner
on a kind of a dark shot that went high off the backboards right in front that he tapped in
like that is the Kevin Corchinsky moments there hasn't been that remember this play or the spin
around or the power play goal he scored I just haven't seen it yet and I think now is the time
you kind of got to figure it out yeah it's he's he's going to he is going to be a guy that gets
some run in the NHL and it's because you got to you got to figure out what he is and and you know
I think the the expectation for him or the hope for him is that he becomes a guy that has as much
offensive uh creativity and production and reliability that the defensive deficiencies
you live with and they're outweighed like I don't expect him to be Eric Carlson
sure levels of offensive but yeah but you can live with the mistakes when the offensive stays
but he but right now it just doesn't feel like the defensive side of the game which is important
as a defenseman um is is is where it should be and he's been you know offensively he's been good
in the NHL but how many how many times have you seen good defenseman put up numbers in the
NHL and then they get up to the NHL and they do nothing like I think of uh the former ice hogs
TJ Brennan and Adam Kline Denning who were great AHL defenseman great offensive guys and could
not do it in the NHL and I'm not saying Kortzinski is going to be Adam Kline Denning but he's got to be
a guy that the offense is consistently there and the defense doesn't kill you if you can if he can
do that in the NHL he can he can find a place find a home and then you build upon that and that's
and that's then he's living up to that like that building up the first round pick the seventh overall
guy if you're going to be 50 points right every year but once a game there's a oh my god moment for
me fuck cool I can live with that at the point productions there right like Eric Custerson has played
a long time in the league because he only provides offense and people are just like you know what we
need the offense from the blue line he's bad defensively but we can live with it because the
offense is good I would love if Kevin Kortzinski could be you better be better man I say it in my
head and I laugh so I'll say it out loud if Kevin Kortzinski could be Eric Custerson's career year
in 2018 2019 every year every year yeah I'll take it I will take that because they have guys 60
points yes 60 points and just a turn style yeah um like I would I don't want that to be Kevin
Kortzinski I want more of him but I think you can find a way to fit that into the defensive group
because you have guys like Vlasik and Kaiser and Crevier has made an aim for himself too you have
those guys that can kind of play that more defensive style that you feel comfortable with maybe
Del Mastro's a guy that you feel comfortable with playing in the NHL night after night in that style
so that if you have offensive guys like Renzel Kortzinski and Lev Shinov you have those guys that
are like their task is to provide offense from the blue line and not be god awful defensively
and then you have guys paired with them or however covering for the back end of like okay they're
the defensive guy they're they're the more you know safety valve kind of thing you're not looking
for Alex Vlasik or why Kaiser to put up 40 points defensively yeah they're going to be more of a stopper
it's sure but I also think the expectation for Renzel and Lev Shinov should be
solid defenders that had offense like that's the expectation yeah I don't think I'm not
advocating for for those guys to be civs defensively either right and you don't like it
for anybody when those things out they should not need protection yeah I'm just yeah you want
the offensive guys if they are putting up the production that they're at least you know a zero
defensively not a negative yeah like even yeah you want them to be yeah that would be that
be fine I just you know and I'm not I don't want to I don't want to mislead anyway I don't
I don't think that anything has been determined on Kevin Korkchinski yet but I just you know as you
as you're watching defensemen develop in the system he's sort of his pace is slower than others
and maybe part of it is his body size right he's not very big he's very lanky so he's got to add
weight same thing with Samerenzel yeah Artile Lashnov has to better utilize his weight
kind of like I'm out of any Mitchkov situation it sounds like like getting better shape
hey Jeff Lashnov said that the other day he mentioned his conditioning he said it he flat
out said it so that's got to be that's got to be addressed it's something he's got to work on
look there's all these defensemen I would even say Alex Vlasik is yet to be determined exactly
what they're going to be but I just feel like the development from everyone else is a little bit
faster than Korkchinski I don't know and if you again if it's only offense here so here's my
question are they comfortable with that scenario where he is offense only because it feels like
when he's going to rock for things and this stuff he's always told to work on is defensively
focused what if they just said effort put the puck in the net or help put the puck in the net
and we'll figure out the defense part I'll answer that on the other side of the break that sounds
good that's called a tease mister and misses and ma'am uh two minutes hit that like button we back

uh yeah it's like it's slow and it's really pretty up there and it was it was you know there was snow
on the ground it was really cold the uh all the the like Michigan like bays were like
froze right up on yeah right up to like the beach line were all frozen you could hear the waves
like crashing the ice and stuff felt like I was in like Norway or something like it was it was
it was nice so yeah that that area up there is very it was a place uh indoor county called cave
point and it's like literally just drops into the water yeah and the waves just crash up against it
and then in this winter it freezes over so it's like for like a better word glazed
yeah like all the rocks are all the icicles it's beautiful yeah can't recommend it more
but sand valley up in Wisconsin too yep I'm I did had not known about it until they started
advertising here so yeah definitely really nice yeah so if our sales staff wants to hook up
some live remotes during the uh Olympic break
sure uh you know just whatever get it done quickly or available we are available yeah
all right you asked the question yes about Kevin Kurchinsky can you repeat it because I forgot it
um would they be comfortable just saying okay we don't think your defense is going to get to
where we want it to be you are free to be activated 100% of the time and just worry about production
get offense attack attack attack use your speed create offense and we'll figure out a deep partner
for you that can be safe and cover for you and let you go run wild over the ice no I don't think
so either I don't yeah it's just it's it's it's not uh and and and I I think it's the way Kyle
Davidson is setting up uh this team the style of players that they're getting the expectations they
have of those players of what they can become at the NHL level and you pair it with Jeff Blashel's
um you know his system and his preference of of play style and everything I mean we we went
from Conor Bernard being that like go for offense and he's really bad defensively to changing the
way that he's played yeah uh this season and it fitting Jeff Blashel's like checking for offense
defense to offense transitioning from the D zone to the offensive zone not playing a 50 50 uh you
know a 50 50 style defense but winning the puck and then transitioning to offense if a guy is not
going to fit that style of play we saw with Lucas Raichel yeah no I mean he wasn't gonna he wasn't
going to play this Jeff Blashel style of hockey if if a guy like Kevin Kortzinski isn't able to
get to that point where Jeff Blashel can trust him it feels like it's it's not gonna matter if
he puts up 50 points there's not a lot of teams that have won with a guy like that a completely one
dimension of teams that have gotten in the playoffs they've gotten far uh I think Carlson is your
exception because he's that elite offensively and I do think can put up a hundred points I also think
his defense is a little bit on I say I hate to say underrated but it's not the absolute disaster
everybody makes it out to be take over looks it's not good he's not Duncan Keith but he's also not
complete trash and useless defensively right so yeah I think with Kortzinski and you know coming
up here eventually um I'm not really like like the offensive side of things I just want him to be
consistent but I really want his defensive game to turn that corner and to be able to get to that
level where you know and you said to like physical maturity as a part of it too but this is now
you know it's been a few years of him being able to you know be in professional care of you know
training programs and stuff and you want him to kind of be able to start getting to that physical
maturity uh and learning how to you know use his body position uh better and you know uh Ben
Pope wrote about that recently with with Sam Renzell he's in the same situation tall,
lanky thin guys um so they got to figure out you know how to utilize uh their their physical makeup
in the NHL Kortzinski and Renzell aren't going to be bruises but can they be guys that
you know with their height advantage and their reach advantage and their skating abilities can they
use that defensively to their strength to you know always be in the right position always make sure
that they have leverage in in any kind of physical battle rather than trying to say oh just go out
muscle people they're not going to be well they'll never be that yeah uh yeah and for the record
Eric Carlson is that one a Stanley Cup either but I feel like if you put him on a Stanley Cup team he
would not like tank their playoff that that's what I'm saying is like he would not ruin a contender
from him being on the team he was on the Ottawa Senators team that went to the Eastern Conference
final uh a number of seasons ago he was on a lot of Ottawa Senators teams um he was on the shark's
team that I think also went to the Western Conference final a couple of seasons ago uh and he's
with Pittsburgh right now who's in a playoff spot so you know he's got a Norris under his belt
100 points season under his belt very good defenseman yeah as far as being able to put up points
production uh you know he's been on the international stage a bunch um he's he's no slouch
but yeah he's not a guy that I think as you're saying as a number one he's not the traditional guy
that I think a lot of teams find success with and are we expecting coven questions you to be the
number one at this stage I don't think so no right now I mean honestly I projecting it out
you're probably looking at and I know love shopping runs all playing the same side but hopefully
they'd be your two best defenseman then you'd have Vlasik and Kaiser on the left on the left side however
you want to arrange this ultimately and then Kurchinsky and defenseman X is your six maybe they're
not even here yet maybe they sent a free agent maybe they draft one this year I mean they kind of
have to draft one this year yeah beyond as far as beyond Kurchinsky and Del Mastro there's nothing
in the system page harding would be the one page harding and Cumbi ashton Cumbi but isn't he just
wouldn't he from what I understand ashton Cumbi would be we have an enforcer and he plays occasionally
and I don't it does he project to you is a full time NHL player not really from what I've seen yeah
I don't think but I mean I mean we could have said that about Louis Crabby yeah but yeah I mean I
think I would not be shocked if they take a defenseman with one of their first five picks in the first
two rounds maybe even in one of their two first round picks is a defenseman maybe it's as high
as Keaton Veroth which would be nice I would I would like that he's pretty good but yeah I mean
they don't really have that next true wave of like defensive prospects coming but I think
Cal Davis and kind of set it up that you had seven or eight shots at filling your next top six
defenseman with all draft guys and or guys that you know we're in your system when he took over
I mean you're you have right now you have five you're pretty sure of Lev Shinover and Zell
Crevier Kaiser Blasic yeah for the near future you got to figure out Corchinsky and Domastro
that's seven that would be seven with those two so if they all pan out fine now you just got to
see who develops into what right and I think forward wise too we're gonna have a pretty good
indication this year of like okay is Frandel gonna be a guy that comes in and is immediately a
top six guy I think that's the hope I think that is actually probably becoming the expectation that
he has Nazari in numbers right out of the gate yeah I don't want to I I want to be optimistic but
cautiously optimistic with him out of the gate sure yeah because I think there's going to be an
adjustment period for him but I think like if he if he let's say you know he's on this team by
the end of March I'm not looking for him to be like point per game guy right out of you know
whatever but like going into next offs or going into the next training camp and and going in the
next season I would really like for him to look like he belongs in the NHL and if as long as you
got that as a kid who's you know 19 years old trying to crack the NHL roster I think he'd have a
really good shot at doing that and then you kind of you know amp up your expectations from there
what are we what was the date we projected as March 14th I think was the end of the SHL regular C
yeah okay so let's see so that's a month before the end of the NHL season March 14th so let's say
he let's say he plays this first game just to be generous on the 20th I mean that would be like
because because you got a factor in coming up you know from Sweden that'd be 14 games if he
debuts on a 20th against the avalanche I think I don't think he's going to be that here that early
unless unless your garden missed the playoffs oh yeah sorry yeah yeah yeah so yeah I think by the
end of March so he joins the last day of March March 31st Winnipeg 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 games 8 games
I think that's a really good amount of games for him to play yeah and you want to see you get a
tasty where your full points right yeah you get a tasty NHL runs all in more played what nine
games at the end of last year and we got a good you know a good feeling about what they what they
could be going into this season and everything so yeah I think that would be a that would be a good
amount of time for him to play if it's less you know congratulations to your garden as you
progress through the playoffs that's fine you you want him to play in that atmosphere if he's
getting the opportunity to someone in the chat said you drafted front L to be a top liner not a
middle six guy I mean well yeah yeah but I you also are building your team just I mean think
back to the Joel Quinnville era Marion Hosa was your second line right-winger because you had
Patrick Kane or you had a you know you'd have yeah type of in a second line because Taves would
be the first line center and like it's all don't get hung up on what you want is is top line
production from Anton Frontel yeah I don't I don't have any any doubts right now or any worries
rather that he won't be a top line caliber player I think he's shown that so far in like the
progression of how he's gone through his draft year and draft plus one year and everything like
it's all looking great but it comes down to what he does once he's in North America and remember
Nick Lardis will be here soon too he'll be yeah I'm sure he'll be back up yeah right so you've
got some in Roman cancer of we talk about these guys all the time yeah they're all should be here
next year hmm the expectation would be at least Lardis front L cancer of his full-time NHLers next season
that probably yeah so yeah that's a look for it too which is nice all right we're going to
hit the break zone one more time we are awaiting post-game video from the black hawks nothing
has come yet I imagine it's coming soon we'll knock out any super chats coming up next make

all right uh... if you missed it outside of uh... today's black hawks action
which was obviously the top story and hockey mm-hmm a few other things happened
where would you like to begin boy uh...
i i i think you said trade yes that was going to be as that's the big one um
let's let's touch on artemi panaren go into the l.a. king since people are talking about the
rangers and their selling in the chat uh... they sold today on the artemi panaren and uh...
Liam green tree and a conditional third round pick
i would consider much less than spencer night and a first round pick
for a player in a very similar position that said i want to go to one team and one team only
yeah and uh... i think uh...
l.a. kings uh... what a deal you get a two-year extension at eleven million
for a guy who's instantly going to give you offense for a team that needs offense
um... l.a. needs to try and get beyond the Edmonton oilers which it looks like they're currently
if if i remember correctly currently wind up to face again in the playoffs if the day
if the playoffs were to end today i think let me see the Edmontons to no
no they're got a they got a push for the playoffs still the kings to get in there but
uh... they have good goal tending they're not giving up a lot of goals but they got a score on
artemi panaren is going to help them score them they're going all in uh... for copatars last year
so good on them for making it work you get the extension um... you know
i i i i i if you were a team that was trying to be in on artemi panaren um...
it was going to have to come with an extension and and and they got it done through the rangers
boy christuary hey he played the game man he has to be a good gm
that's no that's not really true he is good he played not entirely true uh... this i don't know
the rangers sell off uh... their retool is their retool is going to become a rebuild
because i don't i don't know what you build with with that team
no i like it like not at all you you you you you laid in nice process you laid your bed with
alexis laughing here not only is the number one over uh... number one overall pick
but then you extended them what's in his in year one of what a seven year extension
at seven and change like you've you've you've tied yourself to him
well cool he's a good player uh... adam fox is still a good player uh... obviously
she's just working still a good gold tender but like man i don't i don't know who is the
core that they're that they're building with and i don't think you fix that with a retool
quote unquote as much as you know the rangers probably uh... want to avoid using the return
rebuild clearly as you read that letter yeah um... they need to rebuild they're doing the
standbowman bark hundred flurry set Jones thing like you know it's you can't sell around
they haven't added yet but there if you know you know you know you know the rangers are not
going to be like no we are we're absolutely going young we're getting rid of our vets no
no no i i i like it's look at their ownership they're not going to do that in look i will i
will say in christary's defense penaren says i'm going to the kings make it happen right um... so
he has to make it happen i get or you just say no you're just going to play out but if you just
wait for him you just wait out and let him yeah i mean but you could you have gotten more for him
on j on july and jane and just try again on june 30th trade his rights to a team that wants to
sign them i mean you might get you might get more as teams get more desperate i also wonder to you
wait for penaren's sake could you got more than eleven in free agency maybe but sometimes these
guys once they make their millions and millions and millions of dollars it doesn't really matter
for some of them to make more and more millions and millions dollars it matters more of like
where they play and who they play with and the atmosphere they play in and it seems like penaren
enjoys bigger markets he's been in chicago new york and now he's going to l a yeah with a stop
in columbus okay if that's what he wants to do so i mean yeah there there's some guys that i think
if it doesn't it doesn't matter how much money you give them they just never want to play in
insert market here and penaren seemed very intent on going and playing in l a well i like it
a little better right i honestly to be to be honest with i did not love this for the king's
either because i don't know exactly what it does for them does it give them offense yes
are they cup contenders right now with our time in penaren absolutely not
there but well they didn't lose a roster player no so you're not better you got increasingly
but it's not a Stanley Cup team there is no chance in how the L.A. King is going to Stanley Cup this
year there's just not i'm sorry like it market yeah i'll shave my beard once again if they do that
it's not happening and then you look beyond this year copatars retiring
Andre kuzmiko is a free agent this is a drew doughty is now gonna be he's gonna be 37 next year
this is a it's a win now move for a team it's not good enough to win it's a win now move this
they're not done i think they're going to continue to try and improve the team because this is a
we're we're doing this for copatars type of uh scenario so they got more moves coming before before
the deadline probably i would imagine so we'll see and and yeah i like i like the king i like the
king's roster i think the king's know that they're not in a good spot so they're trying to capitalize
maybe this year you get in and hey maybe it replicate 2012 again being the eighth seed and you go
all the way who knows sure that's the team that did it i don't trust it i don't the west is
rough man like that there's a lot of juggernaut you got to get through yeah anyway uh nick
felino spoke after the game before we play nick we're going to warn everybody that we are going
to overtime during the show because we're going to play Jeff flash in a minute too uh so if you're
watching us on the fast channels in about three minutes you're going to lose us head over
to all chto.com to continue the coverage here is black hawks captain nick felino after the game
no idea what he said no idea if he's pissed i'm assuming so this is courtesy of the black hawks
not good enough all the way around right um just didn't have the urgency didn't have the
compete level that we needed to have so it's disappointing especially going into a break where
you're going to have tons of time to probably chew on this one it's not a good feeling right so
i think just the maturity of our game right we just we're immature and how we needed to come in
here and play and and have a statement of like where you know we're starting to build and
tonight wasn't it and it's disappointing to a man every at all you feel like you haven't been
well right now no that's that's an excuse man i have everyone's playing a lot of a lot of games
these guys play back-to-back so like that's you know we're fighting to be a relevant team to be
in in the mix here and uh you can't have an effort like that
it's wide and Colton's injuries kind of adds a bit uh maybe taking the air out
it's just the next you know so it's the way it works you've got injuries and games and you've
got to play short-handed and i just don't think we played smart enough to handle those right and
we get injured that early on we got to help our d out and be a little more more assertive as
forwards and get fox in their end and wear them down so our d aren't feeling under pressure and we
just didn't do that enough in the first period uh you know it's not fun to lose guys but we played
in short-handed before you think freeze is not much needed step back sorry is it you think the
unlimited freeze is not much needed step back for the uh no honestly i'd rather play after that one
to be accomplished we were playing tomorrow night um yeah i think it's good for everybody i think
it's important if we use it wisely that will come back with a ton of energy and you know make sure
we have a good push here and use the use the practice time that we have to get better i mean that's
where we're trying to become a great team in here and and we obviously have some stuff we need to
take so it's uh probably a good reset for everybody right now to get get get ready to get motivated
for this little last little bit of pressure you guys have 25 games when you get back what
where do you kind of feel like you have stand and what needs to be done when you get back
oh i've got to go on run it's me honest right like it we're in it but we're not you know so we
got to make sure we get we get on the gas as soon as we can when we come back so i'm excited about
getting back with the group and getting a really good few weeks practice and and and then rolling
and uh i think we play all our division coming out of the break right so um a huge opportunity to
gain some points and and just start building and becoming that team i'm not saying it's like you know
it's a win now it's just having that mindset like look at these guys have done right over here
how many wins in a row if we get themselves back in the picture so we're gonna need to to understand
that but it's gonna come from our our process and that's where i think we're gonna hammer down
i'm sure blasch could talk about it just getting back to what what makes us good and maybe that
practice time will really help us this game is still special for you currently yeah it's always
is i mean it's a special place and it holds a real special place in my heart it's a place i
care about a lot and uh i've had a lot of great memories here good people here and the city
this fan days so um you know nice to come back just which would play a little bit better
all right there he is nick fullino uh it's about what i expected yeah now that i mean that's
yeah that's that's what we you know it kind of said earlier it's just like
you know that you can fall into this trap game don't do it don't do it don't do it now you did it
yeah it's like when you you know you get a word stuck in your head all right you're
gonna see where you're going i had one chair no it's like when you get a word stuck in your head
and you're like oh don't don't say don't say it and then you blurt it out and you're like
i couldn't help myself yeah this is a this is a group that uh i'm going to bring him
they're they're a young group for the most part and uh they got a mature and they got to make
sure that they don't fall in the traps i will say though some of the more immature moments came
from some of the veterans day and i will again point at that ryan de natto sequence where yeah i'm
mad i got knocked down i'm a little bit sore but i got the energy to go knock uh knock him on his ass
yeah well when that happened the puck was in the back of your net so you know when you are
leaving the ice early you're hanging your goalie out to dry right you don't want to change
like that in the defenses on either uh what do you think it spent your night tonight by the way
i mean expected goals against were 3.35 he gave up three feels about right
well yeah he gave up what he was expected to um yeah i mean it's been it's been a dip in in
performance recently um but i think i'm not worried about him um he this is the most he's played
in a season uh in the NHL being the starter and i think that was a big uh big question mark about him
as much as we felt great about him being the starter he had to go out and and do it
and he expressed before he wants to be a guy that plays 60 games a year and everything like that
and this is his test to see how how he holds up and you know he's been given the big majority of
of starts and you know that might just be catching up to him so again like most most of this roster
is is welcoming this break physically mentally both whatever it is um i think the only guy that i've
heard say that i don't want the break is Oliver Moore yeah but i mean i think he's he's a young guy
that i think just wants to play as much hockey as possible and you know uh having the physical and
mental break will be good for everybody all right before we wrap up why don't we hear from
Jeff Blaschle who spoke as well after the game this courtesy of the Black Hawk say there's Ben Pope
do you have any idea extent of Kaiser and his dog um if we were playing tomorrow doc wouldn't play
but he'd be you know kind of day-to-dayish Kaiser would be out for a little bit so uh you know
Kaiser i don't want to put it in the exact timeline we'll know more uh you know after kind of
getting an exam and uh tomorrow but we'll so we'll so we'll see you after the break
seem like a game where just not much went right for the guys uh yeah but you know you make your
breaks um it was a fairly low event i just i thought there's a level of kind of urgency alertness
that we didn't have that we need to have um you know those it's just every game matters man and i
just thought there was just a little bit from uh too many guys that didn't have their uh the
urgency level again you're not always going to fill your best we got up the urgency level i didn't
think we quite had that tonight i can't say that it's happened very often with this team to be
honest with you um but i just didn't you know it wasn't like we didn't or come not seeing that with
that that little level of extra and see to make sure that you're either you know corral and pass
uh handled just uh driving them that uh winning about all these things work like that
i i don't honestly don't know i know that they care i know it's a good group um so sometimes uh
you know if it's mental fatigue if it's i honestly don't know i know you've been rotating the
film guys who said it was any specific reason why i like green uh greener you know greener
um greener is quite good hockey for us he's gonna play good hockey again for us he's a good
player um uh you know there's a couple things we want him to correct and so it just gives him a
chance to kind of have urgency to make sure that you know he's making the corrections that he needs
to make and uh he'll get he'll get back out there's just one of the breaks over here how close
to 100% is the dart bitten for this stretch when you mentioned that after the breaking might
able to take face-offs do you think just having those extra three weeks to give a lot more
could be helpful for him too uh yeah we'll see i think i think the plan is uh when he gets back to
it to start taking face-offs i think you know i think you know when you're not taking face-offs
ever it kind of puts you on the wall a lot and all it's in me i think is a natural sentiment um
you know i can't speak to like the level of uh uh you know i think i know he's healthy enough to play
and and and so at that point you're you know you you're 100% if you're out there playing you
got to play like you're 100% and uh um you know outside of the face-offs i think i've
noticed anything else you have any thoughts on what you want to focus on when you get back or you
gonna kind of play over next week yeah i mean what you know i'll i'll i have thoughts but what we
will uh you know again it kind of gives you a chance to to to reset some fundamental things um
i think there's there's areas you know that we are looking to improve offensively that i think
we've got to make sure we do a good job with uh when we get back um you know i think you got to
kind of reset your systems a little bit just in a sense of get guys ready to play without thinking
so if we can go through drills that get us ready to be able to win the puck drops and national
play without thinking and and still be a good five-man unit that i think that's important
um so we'll uh evaluate all that stuff and then and then have the plan coming back
all right that is Jeff Flashall thanks to the black hawks for use of the flino and blast
all videos um you know sounded like a guy that was as frustrated as we are after this one
and you know for the first time really i see him saying i don't know it's a group i like they usually
play hard i don't know just kind of throwing his hands up you don't love to see that from your head
coach but i get it i think that i don't think he's going to come out and say this team was checked
out they're ready to go on vacation that's what this was but i feel like that's what this was
yeah i he doesn't seem like a guy that's gonna i don't think this is a group that you need to bus
toss like that um i think they they have guys at the top uh that are in the leadership group that
can relay a message um and they have a lot of young guys that need to learn so this is
unfortunately a learning moment where hey when you have something that you're looking forward to
whether it's a break or you know whatever a big matchup coming up but you just got two or three
games in front of you you can't overlook it you can't be thinking about something like you
have to face the game that's in front of you take care of your business before moving on to the
next thing all right before you wrap up we got a super chat we got to address here from
mike greco uh eleven dollars in super chats we appreciate that says my son and i played in the
eagle river tournament this past weekend oh nice also we're playing in a celebrity shinny league
game with celios and ronik on march 7th mario you should play also funny you mentioned that um
i i checked in with uh that uh that game that is going to be happening cheat
with uh celios and and ronik and um i won't get into specifics but out of the budget
outside the budget now if it's a celebrity game you should use some of your celebrity to become part
of this i think i would die of embarrassment if i sent that email i'm trying to use my share your
shot dude celebrity oh like i just threw up in my mind i mean there's there's other people in
similar roles of you that have played in celebrity hockey games and they talk about a lot
did you nope who are you talking about if i mentioned the name i'm doxed i honestly don't know
who you're talking all right i'll tell you after the show all right sounds good uh it's
no i i won't be playing that should be a clue though i would like to but if you speak ill of said
