This is an I Heart Podcast.
0:05
Two questions regarding the financial possible war.
0:08
Back during the Persian Gulf War, 1999 to 1991,
0:11
Arab countries paid for the vast majority of the
0:15
Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the UAE.
0:18
Who's paying for the cost of this war?
0:21
Will those Arab countries step up to do just that?
0:24
Well, I think it's something the President would be quite
0:26
interested in calling them to do.
0:28
I won't get ahead of him on that, but certainly it's an
0:31
idea that I know that he has and something that I think
0:34
you'll hear more from him.
0:35
You're listening to the 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
0:39
Good Tuesday morning.
0:40
Nice to have you with us on the 47 Morning Update.
0:42
We've got two big stories for you this morning.
0:44
First up, the President of the United States of America
0:47
has new statements on Iran and it can change everything
0:52
Plus, Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.
0:55
He's now on record talking about what's next,
0:58
including the Strait of Hormuz.
1:00
But before we get to that, I want to take a moment and ask you
1:03
to help the people in Israel with my friends at the IFCJ
1:07
working right now on the ground for all those in need.
1:11
A sacred season is approaching.
1:15
When we remember God's deliverance, the night he brought his
1:18
people out of bondage and into freedom.
1:20
This year, many of God's people will observe in darkness
1:24
under the shadow of war.
1:26
Across Israel, red alert sirens pierce the air.
1:30
Families run to shelters with seconds to spare.
1:33
Elderly men and women fear they'll be left behind.
1:37
And parents are comforting their frightened children
1:40
as explosions shake the night.
1:42
Sleeplessness and uncertainty have become daily life in Israel.
1:46
And Passover reminds us that God hears the cries of His people
1:51
and answers with love and compassion.
1:54
And that's why the international fellowship of Christians
1:57
and Jews is on the ground in Israel right now.
2:00
They're providing food and emergency supplies,
2:03
equipping bomb shelters and caring for elderly Holocaust survivors.
2:08
Just as His people once cried out for deliverance, vulnerable Israelis need your help today.
2:14
With your generous Passover gift, it shows you stand with God's people.
2:19
And if you were ready to stand with the people of Israel,
2:22
then stand with the IFCJ and help.
2:25
You can call them 888-488-IFCJ.
2:30
That's 888-488-IFCJ to rush your gift right now.
2:36
Or you can give online at IFCJ.org.
2:44
It's the 47th morning update and it starts right now.
2:50
It is the Ben Ferguson show.
2:51
It is nice to have you with us.
2:53
Donald Trump has come out talking about who he's talking to in Iran.
2:57
The new regime they're in place.
2:59
And the President also made it very clear if they do not agree with the negotiations with America,
3:05
we will blow up their power infrastructure easily.
3:09
They better make a deal.
3:11
Now, President Trump suggesting in a message on Monday morning
3:14
that a new and more reasonable regime is taken over Iran
3:18
and is talking with Washington DC.
3:21
He warned yet again he is willing to obliterate Iran's energy infrastructure, his exact words.
3:27
If the talks do not lead to a durable agreement.
3:31
Trump made the declaration a message on his website through social.
3:35
What remains of the Iranian government after the elimination of the Supreme Leader
3:39
has repeatedly denied Trump's claim that it is in conversations with the American government
3:45
also stating that it has responded to America's proposals,
3:49
which would be impossible without a conversation.
3:53
Now, President Trump smiling through that in a statement saying
3:57
that not only is America pursuing a regime change in Iran,
4:00
but the regime change has already happened, saying the United States America's
4:04
and serious discussions with a new and more reasonable regime
4:09
to end our military operations in Iran.
4:12
He followed up that comment with a threat.
4:14
Great progress has been made, but if for any reason,
4:17
a deal is not shortly reached, which it probably will be.
4:21
And if the Hormuz straight is not immediately open for business,
4:25
we will conclude our lovely stand Iran by blowing up and completely obliterating
4:30
all of their electric generating plants, oil wells, and Carg Island,
4:36
and possibly all desalization plants,
4:40
which we have purposely not yet touched.
4:45
The President went on to say,
4:47
this will be in retribution for our many soldiers and others
4:51
that Iran has butchered and killed over the regime's 47-year reign of terror.
4:56
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
4:59
Now, President Trump is seriously weighing also a military operation
5:03
we're being told to extract nearly a thousand pounds of highly enriched uranium from Iran.
5:10
And while the Iranian government is not responded directly to Trump's statement at press time,
5:15
the Foreign Ministry spokesman confirmed on Monday that Iran had received
5:20
and was contemplating negotiation messages from the United States.
5:25
At the same time, that individual also dispairs the proposals as being unrealistic,
5:31
illogical, and excessive, but his statement nonetheless confirmed the existence
5:36
of some form of communication between individuals in power in Iran
5:40
and the White House specifically Donald Trump.
5:44
Quote, our position is clear.
5:46
We are under military aggression.
5:49
Therefore, all our efforts and strengths are focused on defending ourselves,
5:54
according to translation by the Saudi outlet there.
5:57
The government of also Pakistan claimed last week that it was mediating talks
6:03
between America and Iran, handing Tehran a 15-point proposal from the White House.
6:08
Trump shortly thereafter claimed that Iran, quote, gave us most of the points
6:13
and that he would be asking for a couple of other things.
6:17
The President also announced that he would not target any energy infrastructure
6:21
in Iran through April the 6th.
6:23
That would be Easter Sunday.
6:24
Talks are ongoing, and despite erroneous statements to the contrary
6:28
by the fake news media and others, they are going very well, the President said.
6:32
Thank you for your attention in this matter.
6:35
He also claimed that Iran was begging for a deal contrary to the declarations
6:40
in Iranian state media, clearly to keep the people in Iran in line.
6:45
Also, indicating the existence of talks and those talks actually being very real,
6:51
was the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, known as the IAEA,
6:56
who told Italian media on Wednesday that talks about the Iran War
7:01
would take place in Pakistan as early as this past weekend, another example of confirmation.
7:08
Three weeks of war have left their mark, which caused a lot of damage
7:13
affected Iran's economic, energy, and productive infrastructure.
7:17
This will make the conversation, quote, a little bit different.
7:21
Now, Pakistan did host talks on the Iran War this weekend,
7:25
but reports indicated that neither Iran nor the United States of America,
7:29
quote, participated instead, the event offered an opportunity for Pakistan
7:34
to discuss the war with officials from Saudi Arabia and Turkey, as well as Egypt.
7:39
Now, according the Egyptian Foreign Minister, the objective of the talks is to de-escalate
7:44
tension and encourage a negotiating process between Iran and the United States of America.
7:49
To spare the region, comprehensive chaos.
7:53
The Pakistani government also added that while Iran did not directly participate,
7:58
Pakistani officials had a phone call with the Iranian Foreign Minister to discuss Tehran's position.
8:04
Now, most of Iran's response to the current hostilities by the United States has been
8:09
to target its neighboring countries with misal and drone attacks, including Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
8:15
Other countries Iran has bombed include Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE, Israel, Cyprus,
8:21
Iranian officials have claimed the strikes are intended to target American and Israeli sites,
8:26
but in reality, they are targeting a variety of civilian sites instead,
8:31
including energy facilities in many of the Gulf states.
8:35
Next, story number two.
8:37
Which brings us to a one-on-one interview done on Good Morning America on Monday morning,
8:42
with Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
8:44
I think it's incredibly important you hear what Marco had to say.
8:48
Take a listen to the interview.
8:50
Mr. Secretary, thank you for joining us this morning.
8:53
Let's talk about the President's comments over when I talk about taking the oil on Carg Island.
8:58
How would he do this? Why would he do this? Want to take ground troops?
9:01
Well, first of all, it's important to remember the objectives of this operation from the very beginning.
9:06
We are destroying Iran's Navy.
9:09
We are destroying their ability to their misal launchers by a significant percentage.
9:13
We're going to wipe out their defense industrial base,
9:15
meaning their ability to make new missiles and new drones in the future,
9:18
because, opposed a great threat to the region, this Iran that you're seeing now,
9:22
this is Iran at its weakest point.
9:24
Imagine them two years from now if they had thousands of more missiles,
9:27
thousands of more missile launchers and factories to make even more.
9:30
That was an unacceptable risk.
9:32
It needed to be addressed, and President Trump is addressing it.
9:35
Now, they are making threats about controlling the Hormuz Straits and perpetuity,
9:39
creating a tolling system and the like.
9:41
That's not going to be allowed to happen.
9:43
And the President has a number of options available to him if he so chooses to prevent that from happening.
9:49
Obviously, I'm not going to discuss what those options are.
9:51
We're not going to discuss military tactics.
9:53
The Department of War would be in charge of those things.
9:56
I'd refer you to them, but obviously they're not going to discuss it with you either.
9:59
But there is a way forward here to achieve our objectives.
10:02
We are going to achieve our objectives in a matter of weeks, not months.
10:05
Well, let's talk about taking the oil,
10:07
because the President laid out that objective last night,
10:09
and taking the oil will take ground troops, won't it?
10:12
Well, again, the Iranians are threatening that they're going to set up some permanent system
10:17
in the Straits of Hormuz where they get to decide who goes through international waterways.
10:20
That will never be allowed to happen.
10:22
By the way, the rest of the world should take note of that.
10:24
They have more at stake there than we do.
10:26
We get very little of our energy in this country coming through the Straits of Hormuz.
10:29
The rest of the world gets a lot more.
10:31
That said, the President has several options at his disposal,
10:35
and the Department of War is preparing optionality for the President
10:38
for this and various other contingencies that might arise.
10:41
That's what always needs to happen, situations like this.
10:44
But what I want the American people and the people watching this broadcast to know
10:47
is that fundamentally what this is about is the destruction of their Air Force,
10:51
which has been largely achieved, the destruction of their Navy,
10:54
which has been largely achieved, the destruction of their factories
10:57
that they make all these weapons with, which is we're well on our way to achieving,
11:01
and a substantial reduction in the number of missile launchers that they have
11:05
so that they cannot continue to threaten their neighbors in the future.
11:08
All of those objectives are being met ahead, on or ahead of schedule,
11:12
and should be able to achieve in a matter of weeks.
11:15
As you're speaking, though, the President is expanding the objective
11:18
just a couple of minutes ago.
11:20
He put out a post on Truth Social saying that we're in discussions now
11:23
with a new and more reasonable regime in Iran, but he also added
11:27
that if those discussions don't yield fruit,
11:30
the United States will blow up and completely obliterate all of their electric generating plants,
11:34
all their oil wells, and carg island, and possibly all desalination plants,
11:38
which we have previously not yet touched, is what he said.
11:41
That's a great expansion of the objectives.
11:43
Well, I think the first point the President makes is he prefers diplomacy.
11:47
As I said, those efforts are nascent.
11:49
There is messages bringing Rayleigh back and forth,
11:51
some conversations going on, including through intermediaries,
11:54
and he always prefers that.
11:55
Look, if the Iranian regime had come forward at any point in the past
11:59
and said, we're going to walk away from our nuclear ambitions,
12:02
we're going to do nuclear energy the way every other country in the world primarily,
12:06
almost every other country in the world does it,
12:08
and that is through a peaceful means in which you bring in the fuel,
12:11
and it's supervised, and so forth.
12:13
We're going to stop supporting terrorist groups across the region.
12:16
Look at this region.
12:17
Every single terrorist group in this region has a link to the Iranian regime.
12:20
Every single one, the Houthis, Hezbollah, Hamas, the Shia militias
12:25
that are attacking everyone out of Iraq, every single one of these groups
12:28
and all of these stabilization in this region,
12:30
tracks directly back to the Iranian regime.
12:32
Those things have to be addressed,
12:34
and if Iran had been willing to address us in the past,
12:36
we wouldn't be having this interview on this topic right now.
12:39
They're refusal to do so, and they're continuing move towards one day acquiring
12:43
a nuclear capability.
12:44
These people are lunatics. They are insane.
12:47
They are religious zealots who can never be allowed to possess a nuclear weapon
12:50
because they have an apocalyptic vision of the future,
12:53
and all of their neighbors know that, by the way,
12:55
which is why all of their neighbors have been supportive of the efforts
12:59
You call them lunatics, but the President just had this post
13:01
where he says we're in discussions with a new and more reasonable regime.
13:04
Let me try to pin you down on that.
13:06
Who is this new and more reasonable regime?
13:08
Is the United States is in direct contact with them?
13:10
Well, I'm not going to disclose to you who those people are
13:13
because it probably would get them in trouble with some other groups of people inside of Iran.
13:16
Look, there's some fractures going on there internally.
13:18
And at the end of the day, I think that if there are people in Iran who now
13:22
have an everything that's happened, are willing to move in a different direction for their country,
13:26
that would be great.
13:27
Imagine in Iran that instead of spending their wealth,
13:29
billions of dollars supporting terrorists or weapons had spent that money
13:33
helping the people of Iran, you'd have a much different country.
13:36
So we are always hopeful that that would exist over there.
13:39
It's unfortunate. The people of Iran are incredible people.
13:41
The people who lead them, these, this clerical regime, that is the problem.
13:45
And if there are new people now in charge who have a more reasonable
13:48
vision of the future, that would be good news for us, for them, for the entire world.
13:52
But we also have to be prepared for the possibility, maybe even the probability
13:56
that that is not the case.
13:57
But the president says they are.
13:58
Is that the case or is it not?
14:00
I'm just trying to get some clarity on that.
14:02
What I mean is, yeah, you have people that are saying some of the right things privately.
14:06
Obviously, they're not going to put it out in press releases
14:08
and what they say to you or put out there for the world doesn't necessarily reflect
14:12
what they're saying in our conversations.
14:14
But at the end of the day, we have to see if these people end up being the ones in charge
14:17
seeing if they're the ones that have the power to deliver.
14:19
We're going to test it.
14:20
We are hopeful that that's the case.
14:22
There are clearly people they are talking to us in ways that previous people in charge in Iran
14:27
have not spoken to us in the past.
14:29
Some of the things they're willing to do, some of the things they're saying they're willing to do.
14:32
Obviously, they have to go do it.
14:34
We're going to test that proposition very strongly because we always prefer
14:37
to settle things through negotiation and diplomacy.
14:40
But we also have to be prepared for the fact that that effort might fail.
14:43
That we are dealing with a 47-year-old regime that still has a lot of people involved in it.
14:48
Who aren't necessarily big fans of diplomacy or peace.
14:51
And if it fails, the war expands?
14:53
What's that I'm sorry?
14:54
If it fails, the war expands?
14:56
Well, this operation, and that's what this is, is about very specific objectives.
15:02
The president laid them out on the first night of the operation.
15:05
I'll repeat them to you now because I hear a lot of talk about we don't know what the clear objectives are.
15:08
Here they are, you should write them down.
15:10
Number one, the destruction of their Air Force.
15:12
Number two, the destruction of their Navy.
15:14
Number three, the severe diminishing of their missile launching capability.
15:19
And number four, the destruction of their factory.
15:21
So they can't make more missiles and more drones to threaten us in the future.
15:25
All of this so that they can never hide behind it to acquire a nuclear weapon.
15:29
That was our objective from the beginning.
15:31
That remains our objective now.
15:34
And in fact, ahead of schedule on some of those things.
15:36
And we are going to achieve those things in a number of weeks, not in a number of months.
15:40
Mr. Secretary, thanks for time this morning.
15:42
It's really interesting to see how much the media is willing to change, alter, and lie to you.
15:48
To try to make you think that somehow what we're doing in Iran is a failure.
15:52
When clearly in reality, it's a massive success already.
15:56
And the Secretary of State, being very clear, the Trump doctrine is working.
