The Mountain Ears every single day.
Big, big weekend.
Obviously just went down where the West Virginia women finally hosting a game since the first time since 1992.
At home in the women's basketball tournament bracket.
Big deal.
Rem Baker put out a post about an hour ago, said 11,000 seats were sold.
Maybe two hours ago at this point, actually.
Now that I think about it.
Let me plug my computer in. I forgot again.
But yeah, so obviously this is a situation where I'd be pretty shocked if it didn't sell out.
It's not already sold out.
I mean, we're probably talking about literally hundreds of tickets left at this point, if any at all.
Get yours now, if you're going to go.
This is going to be really interesting.
And they deserve it.
This is going to be a cool atmosphere.
I can't wait to watch it.
Hopefully this city.
This is at San Diego State coming to place boiler like happened.
You know, because look, let's just be honest, man.
It happened to us once before, right?
You guys remember that San Diego State lost a couple years back.
That one's horrible.
So we don't want to see that again.
And I don't think we will.
Or was that last year?
Either way.
You know, four seed.
Obviously this happened overnight.
This is the culmination of a three year build to kind of get here for coach Kellogg and company.
And it's a culmination of a really season long climb for the program.
When you look at the incredible season arc that they've gone over.
And under the matchup with Miami.
We're going to be talking about how dangerous Kentucky can be or James Madison.
If they win that game, most likely Kentucky.
The sweet 16 path toward Texas, potentially.
And obviously how they can avoid some teams on the bracket like you caught in the USLA.
Almost for the entire tournament.
So that's kind of the talking points here on this one.
We're going to be doing a separate one for the men's today after five thirty.
When that bracket comes out, we will be reacting to that news live.
So just stick around with this throughout the day as we do that.
But obviously the women deserve all of the publication, all the credit, all the accolades, everything they're getting right now.
Because let's just be honest for one thing.
I'm far from the kind of person that's going to be like, you know, women don't have any rights.
Like I'm not that kind of person.
But I will gladly and readily admit that the women don't get as much love in media and all that.
And the sports as they probably should.
And that's because the men dominate it.
And and all that.
And we know why those things happen.
But you know, I'm glad to see that our women are getting a little bit of a shine here.
And coach Kellogg has built this thing into kind of a little bit of a fever pitch.
Because you look at the build over the last three years, 20, 25, 26, 27 wins.
Or more in three straight years now.
So, you know, this is a, this is just a great job by Rem Baker to hire, make this hard.
And I think it's turned out to be great.
Dom Plitz, who white, who also was a great hire, only stayed for a year.
She's in the tournament with Minnesota.
Rem Baker can, can hire coaches, man.
I mean, he's proven to be able to do that.
And coach Kellogg has done this.
Obviously, Jordan Harrison leads this team into the tournament.
The deep into player, the year in the big 12 averaging over three.
Three and a half, most three and a half steals a game.
Kind of turning our defense into offense, which is what this team is all about.
And by late February, West Virginia become one of the most dangerous defensive teams in the country.
And, and you look at what they did.
They won seven or the final eight games, right?
So, you know, and then the only loss down that stretch was TCU, which they happen to do avenge.
Because Sylvia Wiles was injured or not injured, but in foul trouble, most of the game.
So, big, big, big time, kind of deal for these lady mountaineers.
And you look at what they had to do to get here.
And kind of what their season arc looks like.
It's pretty damn incredible.
It really is so proud of this team and the way that they've kind of gone through.
Because if you look at the season story, so.
It's probably strong enough to sell on air.
Like West Virginia came out flying with winds over Purdue Fort Wayne.
They beat Ken State, they beat Temple.
Then the green bar tip off happened.
And then that was number 15, Duke, who by the way won the ACC and got a two seed.
That was where the biggest story, maybe over the year in women's college basketball happened.
And it was interesting to be to be quite frank.
The green bribe five, which was one of the coolest stories of the year.
In which there was a scuffle right before half time.
The women's benches cleared a fight in suit or a pushing match.
And the West Virginia women that cleared the bench were kicked out of the game.
Because they came out on the floor, leaving only the five players on the team.
Or who were on the floor.
I think actually even one of the players on the floor was.
Not exactly sure how it worked out.
There may have been somebody left on the bench that didn't clear.
And then the four on the court.
Or it was the five on the court.
But either way, there were only five left.
To play against one of the best teams in the country.
And somehow some way you were able to.
Cut out a win over Duke, which has turned out to be just a huge win for this team.
And without it, you don't make this for seed line.
You know, so great job by them.
And certainly you look at it as a situation where.
It kind of propelled both teams to more success throughout the year.
So definitely want to acknowledge that game.
Obviously the Ohio State game was 8381 neutral site loss there.
They got punched by Villanova, which was.
They turned out to be pretty good.
But then they rebuilt themselves into a team that wanted Iowa state.
They were sitting in the trailer.
You crushed Arizona.
You beat UCF, you Oklahoma state.
You beat Cincinnati down the stretch.
And then you ripped off that conference tournament title run, which is pretty good.
You know, this is a real progression team.
Not a team that just kind of got hot over one weekend.
And now you're looking at the team that's 110 out of 11 games or whatever it is.
So I think this matches exactly what coach Kellogg.
kind of said about the program's climb as they've gotten a little bit better
every single year and I think they're finishing higher, they're improving the
seed line every year. Now they're hosting and West Virginia's own site, you
know, if you look at like the West Virginia Sports.com says that this is
their four straight title appearance. So this will be the 17th in program
history and that's pretty cool, right? So, you know, this is a team that's
44 and 5 at home over the last three seasons y'all. So, you know, this is a
massive for the weekend, especially when you pair it with your, with your, you
know, historically home court has meant and obviously it
evacuated what has meant to this year's team because it's going to be
interesting. The bracket itself, pretty workable pod overall,
officially, you're in the Fort Worth number three region, which has Texas at the
one line, they're one of the more vulnerable, I think. I mean, they they lost
in their, their tournament. Michigan is the two line, they're very good,
Louis III, they're very good, but they're not UConn, they're not UCLA teams that
I just don't think can be beaten other than by each other. So, like to me,
because this is just my personal opinion, this UConn team this year and this UCLA
team are the only teams I see that can beat each other. Like, maybe you can
toss, toss, you know, some other teams in there, I don't think Texas, like
there's a big separation from those two to the next two novel one seats in my
opinion. So, and I've done a lot of research into it. So, you know, the level at which
they recruit, you got to think about this. What do you know, Oriema and them do
from the women's side is similar to what some men do on the men's side from a
financial spending standpoint. Like, it's estimated that they've got like
five, six million dollars in an IL on their women's team. So,
it's really hard to compete for that with that, especially when you consider
what women get. I don't even know what it would be. Maybe a million, maybe two,
probably not even that much. So, you know, I would like to, I mean, I wish it was even,
you know, but it's not even. It's never been even. Geno's always kind of had the upper hand.
Even when he lost it, they, you know, they were still competitive and had five stars.
Truly, I am in awe at what Geno Oriema has done over the last 30 years. It's crazy. But
that's neither here nor there for this. You know, the overall, I think this team can make
it to the sweet 16. Obviously, Kentucky is going to be a tough, tough game that you can absolutely
lose. If you play them, obviously, you would need a big upset for that to happen. But most likely,
you're going to get to Kentucky as long as you take care of businesses as long as they do.
This is my Mibo, Hyde team. It's pretty good. I wouldn't watch them. They're good. They can play.
But I don't think they're going to be able to match what's Virginia, the physicality.
Like they, they're a finesse team, in my opinion, that can spray it. I think they've got five or
six kids that can shoot and get this. And this could be a bad omen. They've got a de Vries on
their team. They've got a de Vries. De Vries, chemo. They've got a de Vries on their team somehow.
And she's one of their best players. So we can't get away from the de Vries just yet. Somehow,
some way here comes Miami, but how women's basketball team and they've got
Elsa de Vries coming in. So here we go. Buckle up because she's good, man. Like I went and
watched her. She's probably six, three, six, four lefty. She can spray it. They like to put her in
the stretch big department. She is a stretch big for the women's game. She can really get out and
pick and pop. And she's good. She's from the Netherlands. So I don't think she's related to
I posted her on X as a kind of a joke. I went to an Instagram account because I'm like,
there's no way this can't be Tucker debris sister or something crazy. Like what would the odds
be? How would we not know about this? You know, but I look she had a game like 23 points 11 rebounds
in a game this year. And so she can definitely play. No, no surprise with that last name, right?
After the break, we'll come back here and talk a little bit more about Miami. What is this game
all about? You know, who are they? What have they done this year? We'll kind of break them down
as I spend some time on them today breaking them down. We'll talk about them right after this break.
This episode will walk down West Virginia going to be brought to you by our friends at Fandall.

And in segment two, this news for you. I appreciate you guys for being here. That's right,
women, ladies. This news for you guys. Congratulations. This weekend for all you accomplished.
So let's talk about Miami a little bit. Who are they playing? You know, what's their what's their
dealio? I would say, you know, overall, this is a good basketball team, mid-level team in the
country, 16 and two in the Mac, really good conference record, 28 and six overall. And what a year
of Miami of Ohio basketball had for itself. I mean, between the men and the men, what they go,
let's see, would have been 30, 58. Was it like a 58 and seven or 58 and seven between the two?
That's a pretty insane to me. So, yeah, 58 and seven, it's crazy for basketball combined for
basketball men and women. So obviously, the program is back in the incidentably filled for
the first time since 08. There are 13 seed matched up with the West Virginia as we know it's a
four seed. And that game is going to be played Saturday, March 21st at 5 p.m. So, you know, five days,
which Mark Kellogg alluded to his press conference earlier. By the way, I want to talk about something
he said. And I don't think he meant it to come off this way. But Mark Kellogg said in his press
conference, I watched earlier. He said he doesn't think he could keep his women engaged on Miami of
Ohio for five days. And I was thinking, oh, man, I hope Miami's not watching this because the way
it comes off is like, listen, he basically, he admitted, listen, we're going to be looking at Ohio.
We're not mean Ohio, but Miami, Ohio, we're going to be looking at James Madison. We're going to be
looking at Kentucky over the next five days. We're not just going to look like most coaches don't
admit that publicly. Mark Kellogg has always been very open though, even when I had him on.
He's very honest about things. And I like that about him. But yeah, so
interestingly enough, you know, for him to say that is really cool. And at the same time,
worry some, you know, you don't want to give him any Baltimore material, although I don't think
it would matter even if he did. This is only their second insolidably tournament
appearance in program history for the women's team. And they've got a third,
third, your coach, Glenn Box, who took him from nine and 20 in year one. They had 19 wins last
year. And then a break through 2025, 2026 campaign that has included a school record regular season
win total before the Mac tournament. And honestly, a really good job with the league's automatic bid.
He's their coach of the year. So this is not a chaotic up and down underdog that just kind of
gets hot. You know, they're pretty clear. They defend. They share the ball. They play through
an experienced back court when you look at who they've gotten their back court, which we'll get to.
They they're pretty steady front court production from like treader and degrees. And then you
look at what they do on the three poll pointers. They stretch you out. And they're a very
composed team that I can see. You know, this is a team that can play. And officially,
right around 71 points per game, they allow 58 and a half. A lot of this is due to their
conference. They're just better than a lot of the teams in their conference, which is why they're
winning games by right around 13 points a game, 12 and a half. And they shoot it well. 44.4
points to 0.7% from the field. And the women's game is very good. 35% from three and 76% from
the foul line. They've had a really good 540 to assist
to 529 turnovers, which is pretty functional. It's a connected offense. It's, you know, not
necessarily one that's built on. How can I say this? They're not a hero ball team. They're
not built on isolation, right? They're they're they're it's five players like they're they're all
connected. They're all it's kind of like a they have to be because they can't be like Yukon or
like UCLA. I can't they need to they can just give it to one specific player and you can get
a couple buckets in a row like they're they're the kind of team that they need to everybody to
step up kind of like our men's team was this year. You know, they need everybody playing well
for them to have a shot in this game. If they do, they will defensively they played well this year,
but I you know, once again, you question the overall competitiveness of who they played.
They held a bonus to 37.8% percentage shooting the ball. 32.2 from three none of this matters for
us because we're not the kind of team that really is going to be bothered by this. The the pressure
that they're going to give our DR offense isn't going to be better than the pressure they already
face in practice every day. And so if we look at it, they forced 683 opponent turnovers, which is 362
steals 128 blocks on the year. That's a damn good defensive profile guys. Very good top top 30.
So the first thing that jumps off the page to me is probably their balance really like they have
four players that are average in double figures like that's balance scoring. And then their fifth
starter that's just right there under the average. You look at treader, you look at Scalya,
you look at deliveries and you look at singer. And they're all really good, but their star is
Tamar singer. No doubt about it. This kid is a damn good basketball player. And she owns a school
record for assist. So she's got 240. So singer is a problem for anybody like she probably going to be,
I don't know if she's a senior or what. I have to look. I'm assuming she probably is with that
assist total. Let me see Tamar singer. If she's not a senior, I would recruit to hell out of her.
Let's see. So she is, she's from Israel. Interesting. She's only a sophomore. Listen man, I'm tell you
right now, like if you want to start a team, this chick would be somebody to put a, I don't mean that
as a pejorative term. I'm just a guy that grew up in the 90s. So 80s and 90s, like chick is a good,
to me, is like a good thing. But you know, this, this lady is somebody that I really think could be
a very good starting power for point guard. She averages 11 points a game, four rebounds a game,
almost seven and a half assists a game. But unfortunately for her, she's got Jordan Harrison
Simon. It's not a good assignment for anybody. And Jordan Harrison is going to be a tough,
I would say, we'll get, we'll kind of, we'll kind of figure out exactly what she's all about here
in the next couple of days because the fact that she's playing Jordan is just, it's just a tough
matchup for anybody. Much less, you know, a player that's kind of played against
lesser competition most of the year. So, you know, you look at the, the game's able lost by the way,
just looking at it and seeing who they lost to this year. I only see one power four game
that I can tell from their overall record. Let's see, let's look at their whole schedule.
Ohio, they lost two Massachusetts, about one, they lost to Ohio University, which is like a
huge rival for them. Looks like they may have got their getbacks against Ohio though, then they
lost to Colorado, 75 to 55. They lost to Washington State, 71, 67, Purdue, 79, 68, they lost to Oakland,
80 to 75. So, you know, like this is a team that clearly struggle with a power four, at least
from the looks of this, to anybody that was power four. Did they beat any power four teams?
Not seeing any of that yet. No, they didn't beat any power four teams. Yeah, they beat Cincinnati.
They did beat Cincinnati, and over time. So, that's, you know, that's not a bad win for them for
sure. And you look at what West Virginia did, West Virginia beat Colorado this year,
once and then lost West Virginia. Yeah, they lost to West Virginia both times. They played
them, but it was really, really close Colorado. So, the only common opponent being Colorado,
West Virginia beat Colorado twice, and Colorado beat them pretty badly.
So, you know, you can't always go by that, but it gives you some idea, you know,
I would have met Colorado's a much bigger team as well, so that probably had a lot to do with them.
But yeah, Singer is, she's, I really like her, and I think she's a good player. So,
you know, just watch out for her in this game, see if she can, if she can go off, you know,
quote-unquote, and then maybe they've got to shot in this game. Other than her, you know,
really the ones you have to worry about are Scalia, Singer, Juro, Treter, and DeVries,
their tallest player, 6-3. So, and that's DeVries. Other than that, they're like all six feet
and under. So, they're pretty small. Treter is their best score, I would say. She averages 15
and 8, 15 and 9, somewhere in there. She shoots at 50% from the floor. She's their best overall score,
for sure. You know, Scalia was the Mac tournament MVP, but Singer, to me, is the most important
player on the team, because she is the organizer. She does everything. She's the best on defense,
stealing the ball. She's kind of like their Jordan Harrison in a lot of ways. She's top five
nationally in a sister game. So, you know, she, she is, but she does turn it over. So, I will say that
when I watched her. She was getting turned over. So, she can be sped up. We'll see how that plays
in this game. Like I said, DeVries is the real two-way piece for them. She's averaging two blocks
of game at 6-3. That's not a surprise. Around 13 points of game, five rebounds and she shoots at
almost 39% from three. So, we'll watch how DeVries plays. That's going to be interesting.
Ball movement. They've got four legit scores. They've got the free throw spacing and all that. But,
you know, overall, West Virginia is going to be too much, I think, for this one.
If you want to put, why would you one worry in this game for West Virginia? From Mountain
Air's perspective perspective, Miami is good enough on defense to make this gross for a little bit.
I think if West Virginia comes out sloppy in this game, settles for jump shots,
let's singer control the tempo. Miami can absolutely keep it within striking distance into the
second half. But, you know, because they defend, they pass and they have enough shooting to make it,
you know, for careless. I don't think that's going to happen in this game. Where in the regular season,
maybe, maybe then. But when West Virginia will be on high alert in this game, I have no doubt.
And obviously, they've got a lot of confidence coming into this game as they won three straight
and Cleveland in the in the in the mid-American conference tournament. And those were blowout wins
against one team that beat them in the season. They blew out by 30. You know, Ohio, they beat Toledo
for the bid. So, you know, I think this is going to be a game that, you know, West Virginia should
win this game by double digits. But don't be surprised if Miami's hanging around in the second half
either. They're really good. All right. So let's go to break one more time, guys. We'll come back and
put a bow in this one here on lockdown West Virginia. This episode also going to be brought to

One thing no one tells you about hiring globally is how unclear the costs can be. I recently
needed to hire an assistant who would work remotely, but I didn't have the first clue where to start.
So I've seen firsthand how important it is to get an expert to help out. Pebble is an AI-powered
global human resources platform built for founders, HR leaders, and operators who are hiring and
supporting teams around the world. Pebble helps you hire, pay, and manage talent in over
185 countries with fast onboarding that can be done in minutes. Instead of juggling separate tools
for contracts, payroll, benefits, and compliance, Pebble brings everything together with built-in
guidance and local expertise to support you. The fastest growing companies in the world use Pebble
to stay organized and reduce risk. Bottom line, it simplifies global people operations so you can
spend more time growing the business and supporting your team. Our new standard discounted pricing at

All right guys, thank you so much. You know wishing the women the best of luck,
we have to talk about the lock down every day or club. We've only got two days left.
I posted it on the X earlier. I'm going to post it one more time here. That's locked on
West Virginia dot supercast.com promo code March. We're doing a March bracket. We've already got a lot
of people in there, hundreds of people. So make sure you're joined in. We're talking all kinds of
stuff whether that'll be about college football, basketball, you know, like it's all happening.
That's locked on West Virginia dot supercast.com promo code March.
Free for a month. You come in there, sign up. You don't like it after a month. You can back out.
But you know, basically it's a it's a it's a discord, you know, where you can
learn a lot, you know, and there's also plenty of experts in the room as far as like all the
different you can talk to Chris level who's the play by play guy at Texas Tech. You talk to
direct toll. If you like Drake, who does locked on big 12, you can talk to Cody. If he does locked
on the Coleman State, you know, like there's there's people everywhere in this service really worth it.
Really is. Especially if you're into sports at all. So locked on West Virginia dot supercast.com
is the goal here. Please make sure you guys check it out. Please would mean a lot to me personally.
I'm trying to build it up. You know, because I built my own my own server and then I neglected it
and it's my own fault. So I need to jump back on it. But to ask us to do so much here. Sometimes
I get overwhelmed. But you know, I'm asking, you know, if you guys haven't done this, please consider
it for me. All right. So, um, you know, obviously guys, we were on a break with football right now.
Um, let me know in the comments what kind of football content you guys want to hear about.
Do you just want me to give you know, break down certain players?
Like we can break down a couple players, you know, a week or
because here's the thing like I've talked about the entire roster at this point a lot. And
I realized we have some time to go six months before the year. I can't talk about the roster
every single day. I can't talk about what CBS says every day. Like there's almost,
there's only so much we can talk about. Um,
so I would like to know if you have any ideas slash what do you like from me when it comes to
the football? Because it's going to dominate, you know, if we do, because I do seven days a week,
right? So it let's say, let's say I do 14 videos a week, 10 of those eight and nine of those
are probably about football, right? So it's, it's a lot. And, you know, sometimes the I do the same
topics, but with a different twist. So there is a lot to it. But I would love to hear your advice
on that, please. Let me know in the comments after the show's over and all that. But, you know,
best of luck to the women. I have the women win in this game, by the way. I think they can make
a final four run if they can get past Texas for sure. But it depends on who they play later on
in the bracket, which I had that broken down on this one. I just never got to it. So most likely,
the branch path would look like this, Miami of Ohio, most likely Kentucky, Kentucky. And then
you're probably either going to get Texas. But if you don't get them, it would be organ of
Virginia Tech if chaos kind of breaks out. And then the elite eight, you would either be Michigan,
Louisville, or, you know, Alabama, NC State Tennessee could money that side up a bit.
So, you know, like you're, you get to the elite eight without seeing any of the best teams,
like any of the big time one seeds. Texas is a big one, but they're not anywhere close to the
best one. So they're beatable, you know, unlike in my opinion, UCLA or Yukon. I just don't see
anybody beating those teams. Those two, unless they play in the final four, we'll meet in the National
Championship game in my opinion. So maybe one of the other one seeds can mess that up. But so far
this year, I haven't seen anybody better. I mean, it's so much further ahead of everybody else. So
thanks for making us your first listen guys. We're going to jump out of here. We got to mince.
We got some mince stuff to talk about here in a couple hours. So we'll be back for that. React to
that news on the ground tournament stuff comes out. We'll look at who West Virginia's playing.
We're preview the game. Hopefully it's a cool game. Hopefully it's not Baylor. I know Baylor's
going to be in the tournament. Let's let us play an SEC school or a big 10 school or ACC. Maybe pits
going to be in there. I don't know. That would be cool. Play pit again. There's a lot of ways
to go, but I don't think pits going to be in it. I don't think they have one enough games.
Yeah, there's obviously more to talk about, but we'll do it later here in Hawkeye on West Virginia.
Until then, guys. Yukon, your roads.
