Grab a mug and tea proudly.
Well, first and foremost, I know it says that they're planning to release him,
but I'd like to add on that they're planning,
not planning to release him anytime soon.
They essentially have no guaranteed money left in his contract.
So they can hold on to him for the time being.
They can hold on to him in the draft and see if they could flip him for a pick
at that point in time.
They can hold on to him until June.
They've paid him an awful lot of money.
I don't think this is happening anytime soon,
despite the report.
And I think that they'll be holding on to him for a little while
to see if there's any trade value at all.
Washington does make a lot of sense.
He played with Jayden Daniels in college.
They're very close.
Jayden Daniels, I'm sure, would love to play again with Brandon Ayuk,
but I don't get the sense that the 49ers are any rush
to move on from Brandon Ayuk,
even though we know eventually they will.
Ah, 49ers saying to Brandon Ayuk,
too complete that game, huh?
You wanted to mess up our entire future?
Well, we'll make a decision on you when we're damn well ready.
So somebody asked if they're taking a page from Steph Curry.
Somebody texted and said,
yeah, eight, four, one, five says,
John Lynch getting advice from the petty king,
Steph Curry.
John Linsane, Brandon Ayuk,
you've been a bad boy,
go standing in the corner and stare at the wall.
Yeah, and Brandon saying,
what's going on?
Yeah.
When he's saying,
Oh, no, that's what we've been saying
for the last couple of years of Brandon Ayuk.
Yeah, we'll show Marvin Gaye.
What's going on?
On a Marvin Gaye Thursday,
an anti-war song young tone.
This is an anti-Vietnam war song.
This is Mercy Mercy Me.
This is what's going on, right?
Isn't it?
No, I don't think so.
Sounds like it to me.
It does sound a little bit like it,
but I'm looking at the song and I'm Mercy Mercy Me.
Well, that's maybe an alternate title,
bro.
The name of the song is what's going on.
There it comes, Tony.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, it's what's going on.
Did I just get deep?
No, it's, yeah, you did.
Now I'm confused.
Yes, this is what's going on.
Yes.
First one we were playing was different.
It's all good to Marvin Gaye Thursday.
It's a different song.
This is the same song, right?
It might have been an offshoot,
but there's second production here,
going on the same, same, but different.
Regardless, it's a Marvin Gaye Thursday,
ladies and gentlemen,
let's just enjoy it.
Yes, you are correct.
Two different songs, but almost identical.
Oh, they both sound good.
They both sound good.
All right, guys, so Brandon,
are you?
What's going on?
What's going on?
Very good, buddy.
Very good.
Well, what's going on is
TJ Hussman-Zada,
who has been Brandon Ayukes' personal coach,
had some very interesting comments.
Do you have the source
of the podcast?
Yes, it's the Speak Easy YouTube show.
Okay.
This is interesting.
Listen to him talk about Brandon Ayukes.
Yes, they should want him.
Okay.
But you got to be careful.
And I say this.
I like B.A.
But I said this last week about Stefan Diggs,
and this normally only happens when a player
starts to get older.
B.A. is still really young.
Fast, quick, explosive.
But what he did last year
is kind of crazy.
You got all this guarantee money.
You ain't showing up.
You ain't, you're getting fine.
And you basically forego what was it over 30 million, right?
Over 30 million dollars.
Like, if you're a team,
and you give him a good contract,
is this what you're going to get?
Because this is what he has shown us.
Sign is deal with the Niners.
Bad luck he gets hurt.
Don't want that.
But it's how he handled everything after that.
Yes, he's going to get signed.
But if you're a team,
you got to structure that contract the right way.
You got to make sure that you protect yourself
because of what he's shown you to be.
You know John Lynch
and Kyle Shanahan they talking today people across the NFL
telling them everything that went down and how it occurred.
And so yes, I would want him on my team.
I would.
But it got to be at the right price.
I got to make sure financially that
we are protected as a team in the organization
because I've just never seen anybody do this
at so young of an age.
You got so many years ahead of him.
I just have never seen this.
Just really strong comments from TJ Hushman Zada
who has been very close to Brandon.
I you can even he is asking what's going on
and then saying mercy mercy me is what he's saying.
Man, I mean, this is crazy.
Who is Brandon and Yook's ally right now?
Like who honestly like Jaden Daniels?
Is he like the only guy who's going to stand up for him right now?
Is Adam Peters a guy that's standing up from?
Of course, we know about his ties with the 49ers.
Now he's how we're working with the Washington commanders.
Like that's what makes this scenario crazy to me too.
You would think Adam Peters would have an open line of
communication with John Lynch and the 49ers.
And if there's interest there from Washington
after the debacle we saw happen last year
out here in San Francisco,
I don't know.
Like those two store lines aren't adding up.
But it sounds like there's still some type of market
out there for B.A.
And I guess that circles back to Shepter's comments too
about them potentially trading him.
But I don't think anybody's going to want to take on that contract.
Yeah, it is a really, really interesting time.
I mean, I'll be honest, I endorse the Niders doing this.
I do it.
Don't don't get what you can maximize this situation for you.
He blew up.
I want to say blew up your franchise because, you know,
they went 12 and five last year and they should be really good again this year.
But he he dealt a severe blow to your championship hope.
There's got to be some sort of there's got to be some sort of retribution.
Plus it's his good business.
You know, don't don't give up an asset for nothing.
Yeah, so not to go full mic don't leave.
But for there to be a demand, there needs to be a demand.
But like we just talked about sounds like there's some type of demand and
Washington, but I don't know how any franchise around the league can look at B.A.
Look, he's still when he 27 years old, the talent's there.
That was never the question.
But to see this meltdown last year and to see him kind of spiral out of control.
After he chose to hold out, he got paid by the 49ers after Kyle Shannon had to run upstairs
and block a trade to the Pittsburgh Steelers or New England Patriots.
Whoever the hell it was, then he gets paid.
Then he shows up the practice with the wrong colored shorts on.
He's stripping on the field.
And then because he held out and didn't show up in shape, he gets injured.
And what he's blaming the 49ers for being injured so much so to the point where he doesn't show
up to do rehab at training camp, which leads to the 49ers and voiding some of these guarantees.
When I was out there in Las Vegas watching him run sprints on the field during the preseason,
like none of this adds up to me.
So if I'm in the front office anywhere, how the hell could you trust Brennan?
I you're moving forward.
It's crazy. It's just that we've talked about this dichotomy of the Lin Shanahan era where they
have some of the greatest moves in recent Niner history, trading for Trent Williams,
trading for Christian McCaffrey, finding Brock Purdy, all that stuff and then drafting George
Kiddles, things like that, Fred Warner.
And then some of the worst gaps, the Tray Lance trade, the Brandon I Yook situation.
I mean, they just have such a wild swing.
And this is like the Jake Moody traffic moody.
I mean, it's crazy.
Some of these moves like the Tray Lance trade, the I Yook situation Moody would decimate other
franchises, but here they are trying to win a Super Bowl next year.
I'm going to wrap up kind of the big hit 1.0 and big hit 2.0 before we get to cooler of content
Matt Meyoko with an 805 text that I really like.
So I don't get some of our fans.
They're not hyped about a future Hall of Fame receiver.
And they're not hyped about signing a three time batting champion.
It's pretty good.
It's very true.
Yeah, people just like to be some people like to be salty.
Oh, dude, all these flavors, and you chose salty is a good flavor.
All right, guys, here's the deal.
That's enough on the Niners for now.
We'll get back to it with Matt Meyoko in 850.
But the cooler of content is stacked with all sorts of great sound.
Tony, you have any teas there that you'd rolled in there so far?
Yeah, let's do it.
We got Tyree's Halibur in his reaction to band out of bio drop in 83.
Vinnie Pasquantino riffing with Team USA.
How about these Canadian beer drinkers?
Canadian beer drinkers getting after it.
All coming up on these four later.

Jill, this is the cooler.
He's bitten a cooler of content.
Quarter capacious of joyful news.
And that'd be all this time.
Yeah, baby.
Murphy and Marcos is sponsored by Big L.O.T.
Grab a mug and tea proudly.
Well, uh, people are so upset about the mercy, mercy,
and the way they're going to do it.
I'm sorry.
They're ripping that that was it.
Two different songs.
Let's get it on.
That's if it's okay with the the the text crowd.
Ain't no.
Feed of clay, everybody.
A plea ignorant.
Sorry.
I can only be right 99.9% of the time.
All right, as it turns out.
All right, guys.
What do we got?
We're cooler content.
Let's get it on with people wondering what the hell's going on with the Marvin Gaye Thurson.
It all goes back to Max Crosby's tweet.
We read it in the opening segment.
Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear.
And I was like, wow, that's a hell of a statement.
And overnight, Dave Texan, hey, idiot.
That's a lyric from her to through the game for grapevine.
I was like, oh, I knew I heard it somewhere.
And then we looked it up.
And it goes all the way back to Ed Grail and Post.
Some say Benjamin Franklin.
It's a slogan about skepticism.
Like, for example, you should be skeptical about Mike Evans or Luis Arise,
or also Diggie Zua.
I'm not.
I like to be.
I'm a glass half full guy.
Until you say mercy, mercy me is what's going on.
Then the crowd turns on me.
Yeah.
Well, Murf, I appreciate the breakdown of the Max Crosby's subliminal message
that he sent out yesterday.
But I was really hoping when he was talking about believe half of what you see,
I thought it was an ode to the Raiders logo wearing an eye patch,
only being able to see half of what you can see.
I like it.
I like that very much.
The patch exists for a reason.
We're single vision.
I'm a single vision on a champion.
I'm blind to one eye.
But all I see are wins.

Closer than you think.
Just for the heck of it, because we have an open radio show,
and I'm going to take five seconds at time.
Rest in peace to the great Ronnie Delaney.
One of the greatest, if not the greatest athlete in the history of the Republic of Ireland,
1956 gold medalist in the 1,500 meter.
The kind of thing my dad would talk about,
Ronnie Delaney winning the gold medal at the 56 Melbourne Games,
made it to 91, was a gentleman all the while,
huge icon in Ireland, Ronnie Delaney.
Rest in peace.
Thanks for the gold medal, pal.
It's a great name, too.
Ronnie Delaney.
That could be my fake name when I go out in bars now.
Ronnie Delaney.
Ronnie Delaney.
I would love to see you with a fake ID.
Did you know I had a phase when I was just kind of just joshin in bars
and I would give gals fake names?
You know, I never really got into that.
My name was Trent.
You don't look like a Trent.
Well, I was naming myself after the swingers character.
Ah, played by Vince Vaughn.
Huh.
Because he was kind of my idol.
I like that.
Now, young Tony, let me ask,
do you ever go with your buddies?
I'm like, hey, let's all create fake names of wacky stories.
And I didn't see if we can get girls.
I didn't really say it like that.
It was just more of like a lighthearted josh,
but you just took it to the next level.
Oh, I wasn't saying joshes.
Let's make it look like that.
He's not mocking you.
I was mocking you.
I was mocking my buddies, you do that.
I'm riffing.
I'm riffing.
I'm mocking my buddies, you do that.
I didn't have a backstory per se.
It was just for the, you know what?
It was just for the hell of it.
And for all, I know she's giving me a fake name.
Great.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, there's a good chance.
I'm glad she's giving me a fake name.
I'd also laugh like this would happen.
Not even that long ago.
I'm like, yeah, I have a pretty cool job in radio.
I don't need to lie about what I do for a living.
Well, going on the same story.
I think I told you, you guys, this maybe not.
When I went down to San Diego,
a Costa Mesa area, all my friends were like,
hey, we should come up with like fake jobs.
You know, like, hey, what's up, my guys?
My name's Tony.
I'm a pilot.
And the first girl I talked to standing
line for a bar, she's, she's like, oh, you're a pilot.
Well, let me show you my pilot's license.
Yeah, then you're too deep.
You know, what's your favorite plane to fly?
What's your favorite airplane?
I just scrambled.
I was like, dude, I'm not a pilot.
I'm like, I'm just like, I was like,
I got a job in sports radio.
I love it.
You know what I mean?
Reason cold takes exposed in real time.
I'm more impressed that Tony talked to a girl.
Oh, that didn't happen.
Yes, I did confirm.
I've seen it with my own eyes.
He's got the risk of a, hey, you're cubano.
You have confidence if you know what I mean.
Oh, absolutely.
Absolutely.
I mean, great Pedro Gomez used to always say
from the line from the movie Blazing Saddles
when Madeline Khan was demanding more.
And he said, baby, I am not from Havana.
It's a deep pull from Mel Brooks.
If you know, you know, yeah.
All right, guys, but that was one of Pedro's favorites.
And we missed Pedro.
To this take, Pedro would be all over the world.
baseball classic.
Yeah, he would love.
He would be the lead reporter out there.
And he'd be doing him in Spanish and English and all that.
And he'd be ripping very bonds and all that.
Yeah.
So, uh, God, what a guy.
Super bowl Sunday, unbelievable.
Uh, speaking of the world baseball classic,
this to me was the best sound of last night.
So team Italy, yo, they're a wagon.
They freaking destroyed me.
Actually, I was listening to that game on the radio
because I was in my car for a long period of time.
And I was like, well, kind of nervous.
I want the USA to advance.
Yes, shocker.
I like my country.
Yes, so do we.
Yeah, we do us and Patrick Bayley.
We told Pat Bailey, you know what I mean?
I actually kind of feel bad that Patrick Bayley.
Like I'm guessing he has a little bit of FOMO
seeing that he's not playing for 10 USA.
One would think he would love to be on a plate,
but they're going to look at that bat.
Yeah, yeah, he's not getting a spot over the big dumper.
Am I taking, am I taking shots at Pat Bailey here?
Yeah, I like America.
I think it's fun.
Yeah, we do too.
Yes, so do we.
Yeah, we do Patrick.
So do we.
Just the, uh, the one crowd doesn't get to love America.
We all get to love America.
I don't know what I mean, everybody does.
Yeah, don't forget the grateful dead.
You spoke with a big giant American flag on the stage, man.
And people, oh, those communist hippies.
Yeah, well, here's my flag, baby.
So anyway, uh, yeah, wave it high, US blues.
So, um, I was a little tight.
I was like, I want us to advance.
I want Logan Webb to have the ball Friday night.
So I was like, well, how's this going to happen?
My number one option was Mexico score in five runs.
That's what I thought.
But I got in the car.
Italy was up one zip in the second or third inning.
And I was like, that's not good.
Cause A, that's low scoring and B, uh,
Mexico is not going to score five.
And then I was like, so now I need Italy to win.
I'm like, I don't think they're going to win.
They just kicked the freaking door down and kept going.
Cause Vinnie Pasquantino hit not one, not two.
He went full Pablo Sandoval Reggie Jackson, Albert Pools, three bombs.
In the world makes full classic.
And one guy he said he's never done it.
Not just three bombs, Merv.
But also three shots of espresso,
because they're celebrating in the dugout.
And man, this guy was wired up after the game.
Do you see him?
He said, uh, I'm caffeinated.
I'm beamed up.
Oh, I do.
Oh, to the max, which is also pretty cool.
You see how on the espresso machine,
they put the numbers of all the players.
Well, like a home run.
Yeah, exactly.
Like, you hit a bomb.
You get your number on the espresso machine.
Did your high school football team have a helmet sticker?
We did my junior year.
And it was, of course, you get little horseshoes
because we were the Mustangs.
Oh, I like it.
And so like half my helmet was filled up.
It was pretty sick.
Oh, I had a lot of stickers.
Oh, look at you.
Have a lot of stickers.
A lot of tackles.
Uh, I didn't tell him about the stickers,
but did share a couple of stories
about planning against John Favonte and V2V.
Why don't we do that on this show?
Bob, I met a couple of them.
We start giving out stickers for great segments
or great riffs.
And what's a little baby microphone sticker?
And just slap on your numbers.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, we can do a microphone.
Slap it on what?
On a wall or something?
I don't know.
We should have like a wall of stickers
to determine who is really the best boredom
in the building.
Take down one of my Buckeye mics
for confusing mercy, mercy meeting what's going on.
Yeah, you're getting stripped of a sticker.
Not that it's in my head
or anything.
Anyway, Vinny,
in the Pasquantino,
the Pasquo is having too much fun.
And here's his riff immediately
after the game on Fox Sports One,
after they won,
after they beat Mexico.
And eliminated a very good Mexico team.
They're going on Mexico shocked.
They're like, we know what,
we didn't beat Italy.
What the hell's going on?
Italy went for no, by the way.
Yeah, the group is crazy.
Which is crazy.
Yeah, so here's Pasquantino.
That was unbelievable, huh?
You're welcome, USA.
We were thinking of you guys
over at your hotel.
We were thinking of you guys.
So I'm glad you guys could join us in the party.
So when you get back to your phone, Vinny,
what's that text message you're going to say
from Bobby Whit Jr?
I'm hoping he's got a room key for me at his hotel.
That's what I'm hoping for.
Okay, a lot of people were confused by that.
Where's the heat?
I mean, I'm not going to riff now.
What do you mean by that, Vinny?
No, no, no.
I think it means I'm raving your minibar.
Yes, I think that means that he's
bustin' through the door like the cool mate,
cool-aid man, and he's screaming this, Murph.
Where's the f***in' whine?
Where's the wine, Bobby?
Where's the blankin' whine?
Where's the f***in' whine?
Yeah, that's such a grunt.
Yeah, and, of course, somebody's there.
Somebody's there.
Somebody's there.
Sound about it in the ear, man.
Where's the f***in' whine?
You Pasquantino has riffs.
You're welcome, USA.
Yeah, we're thinking about you over in your hotel.
You're welcome, USA.
Thank you, Vinny.
Thank you.
That's great.
My guy, that's the Pasquat.
He's leading the way.
Oh, Pasquat's siding yesterday.
First three-homer game in WBC history, too.
Really, really cool.
I don't know, do they beat Puerto Rico?
I'd say they got a chance
or where they're swinging it right now
would have to check out that pitching matchup.
That's actually something that kind of worried me yesterday,
getting back to your take about Mexico
needing to score five runs.
We were like, damn, did you realize
Aeronola is pitching for Italy?
He came Italy, and he was so good with his 65.
He got five innings out, and he was shoving it.
I'm like, dude, I could use a couple of solo shots
given up by Aeronola, but luckily,
Italy scores nine runs.
They take care of business.
Do you know what was a key part of their rally?
Squeeze play.
Dude.
Ron Wotis.
What do you think called that?
Well, and a-a-a-a-a-a-cruco said, yeah, that's all Wotis.
Dude, Wotis and Rags are just winners.
My buddy, Schmitty, was Texan from Philly.
He was, you know, a big American baseball fan.
He's like, dude, I think we're going to make it.
And I said, you know why?
Because Wotis and Rags are in the dugout.
The same goes, you beat your 2010 Philly's.
He goes, out.
Yeah.
That is out.
Yeah, they're out there with the Philly on the mound,
but I think that's one of my favorite parts about this WBC.
There are Giants fingerprints over every single roster.
You did it every game.
All's well, too far.
We got this weekend, of course.
Logan Wethro and Tomorrow against Team Canada.
Jung who lead taking on the DR.
You got Elliot Ramos and Puerto Rico taking on Italy this week
and Rags and Wotis.
Then you've got Luis Arraiz and Venezuela
playing against Shohei Otoni in Japan.
Every single game has a major Giants influence.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I don't know, do I-
I said to Mike, is it the biggest day
in Logan Webb's pitching career tomorrow?
Or is Giants Dodgers 2021 Playhouse
I know Giants Dodgers is 110 years of history.
I got to think for him, we're in the USA jersey.
I got to think it's the biggest start of his career.
I would say maybe if it was the gold medal match.
No doubt that this is definitely up there
at the top starts he's made in his career,
but I would probably put pitching into the postseason
against the Dodgers a little bit higher.
Yes, we have to give him some true serum.
I got it.
He weren't the USA jersey, dude.
I mean, you know, you know,
San Francisco, USA, you know, I'm going to USA.
I am, but who knows?
That's just me.
Maybe because I like America.
Yeah, you do.
So do we.
You love America.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yes.
I like America.
That's a fun, yeah, we do too.
So does Logan Webb, which by the way,
do we know who his battery mate is?
Will it be Cal Rollier?
Will it be the Dodger?
Will Smith?
I would say who he wants.
Yeah, well, he wants.
Take the big dumper.
Yeah, okay.
Well, you want to go next here?
Oh, let's go to the guy drinking beers at the game.
This is a video now.
This is for your YouTube, Twitch, and Twitter crowds.
Sorry, radio crowd.
We're going to have to delete.
So Canada's playing Cuba beating them, by the way.
By the way, looking at Canada's roster,
not a ton of stars on that team.
They got James Pax and the big maple
at a retirement pitching.
They got the nailer brothers.
Tyler O'Neill in the outfield.
Okay.
But you see, you know,
I got to think Webby beats these guys.
Oh, yeah, sync.
They got to be big favorites against Canada.
We're going to sync it.
We're going to cut it.
We're going to change it.
You think we're going to let the Canadians beat us in baseball
after we just stole the show in hockey?
Well, I'm serious.
I mean, honestly, we're right back in.
Here we are one month later.
And we're right back at it.
USA and Canada lock and horns here, man.
Oh, bring it on.
Can Paul Hughes join the 26-man roster?
Jack Hughes.
Jack Hughes.
Is his brother Paul?
No, Quinn.
Quinn Hughes, yeah.
Who's Paul Hughes?
Good question.
I was asking the same thing to myself.
Who is Paul Hughes?
Paul Hughes.
Oh, he's somebody.
I wouldn't have said that.
Are you thinking of skeens, Paul, and Hughes?
No, no, no, no, I'm going to say this is Paul Hughes.
We're saying the Paul skeens is the Jack Hughes,
the Olympic slash baseball roster.
Is it Dr. and San Mateo named Paul Hughes?
He's an orthopedic surgeon.
Yeah, I don't need that doctor on the bump.
He just got a free pub.
Check this out here on video.
Dude, here's my guy.
It's dudes, right?
This looks like kind of dream chip, you know, Canada style.
Dudes being dudes.
All guys in their 30s, I'm guessing.
30s?
Early 30s?
Yeah.
Maybe late 30s.
Guys heavy.
He's he's had food and beer in his life.
Oh, that's a beer belly.
He's got a, he's got a Toronto Blue Jays bucket hat.
How many beers?
One, two, three, four, five.
There's probably 24 beers.
I'm going to say that's close to a 30 rack right there.
And he is holding one up and he, he toasts it.
Show it to me again here, young tone here.
Give me the audio on this from the Fox Sports 2.
He's a very impressive work.
What beer is that, by the way?
I have no idea.
I've never seen that.
It's like a gold can.
It doesn't look like a core's original.
Not sure what beer that is.
Now, this is Canada and Cuba.
So they were playing down in Puerto Rico.
I'm guessing it's some type of Puerto Rican beer.
Can we get a, uh,
Andre Spijens, you have a nice seat there?
Because they're sitting right on the dugout
and they're resting these 24 beers on top of the dugout.
Dude, they are stacking up these beers.
You know what I got to like is the usher
who allows this to happen.
Yes.
I can imagine, I hate to say this
because Larry Bears' palace and everything.
But let's be honest,
the booty holes are a little tight over there at Oracle.
Oh, yeah.
That's a nice seat there.
Yeah, thank you, buddy.
The booty holes are a little tight.
You know, sit down.
You know, don't make too much noise.
Like, you know, sometimes when I'm just on a heckle binge,
I can feel in the crowd.
People like, uh, should we call the usher?
Should we call the usher on this guy?
I'm like, yeah, it's a ball game.
You know what I mean?
Well, and if I took my shirt off,
I bet there'd be like, you know,
sir, put your shirt on.
Oh, come on.
But this usher in in San Juan,
now, they let this guy put 24 beers on top of the
deserts.
Another example of the difference in culture.
Yes, baseball culture.
Yes.
So now I'm getting, uh,
I was like eight hours, beer's toast.
Those are probably what, 12 ounces.
Hey, one of nine bucks.
Yeah.
A little bit of a smaller beer,
which there are ball parks in America
that will sell those size beer cans for like five,
six bucks across the country.
I know Seattle is doing it.
I would love to have that opportunity to sit out a ballgame
with John Joe Curly and young Tony.
This guy and attempt to take down 30 years.
Don't leave any beers.
This guy, I like that.
Yeah, good.
Uh, this, this guy looks like you're kind of guy.
Oh, dude, I would hang out with this guy.
No doubt about it.
And would you grab one of those brews and tell us
he's leaving out his buddies behind him
or also drinking beer.
So I don't know if he took down all 30 by himself.
But yeah, if I'm putting together a roster
about 10 a guy.
Yeah, I was going to say 10 a piece.
That's going to be me and John Joe Curly
this weekend for St. Patrick's Day three guys.
Hey, Blue Jays fans as well.
Shout out Walt.
Yeah.
Yeah, we have a hat.
Oh, Walter can throw it on some beers.
I lose track of Walt.
Yeah, he's got so many teams.
So many teams.
Oh my god.
Yeah, but yeah, yes.
Side me up, dude.
My question is how much does that cost
at a world-based ball classic?
Well, somebody, 310 says the beers are a dollar.
Oh, here I'm all in.
I'm all in.
510 says $1.
I bought that for a dollar.
510 says that PR beers called Madala.
Madala, a version of Madelo.
If I went anywhere and they had dollar beers, dude,
it would not be a pretty sight for water, boy.
Uh, somebody says those are the red bull can of beers.
There's has to be only eight ounces.
Also, those guys are over 30.
I don't know what they are.
Um, they don't disrespect 30-year-old's
Murphy.
Uh, it's see, yeah, here six five
was this by the way, Murph, you're on it.
There's a bleacher usher who always power trips.
I had skirmishes with with Oracle usher
is back in the pack bell days
when they were kind of over policing.
And I and I said to them, as before, I was on the right,
I was like, yo, do you do you know Candlestick Park?
We did not over police at Candlestick Park.
What do you do?
Stop over policing me.
Yeah.
Anyway, I digress.
Anyway, that's your cooler content.
Matt Mayo coax is nice.
Uh, on the big tree next, Angela Spears too.
Next on these forces.
It's a very impressive work.
Listen to the sports leader anytime, anywhere.
Tell him about KNBR, the sports leader app.
Murphy and Marcus continue live
from the Casino Matrix progressive jackpot studios.
Casino Matrix, progressive jackpots are here.
Where are you?
Just drop in.
1,800 gambler as often happens this time of year stuff
moves quickly in the NFL.
Basically, as soon as we stopped recording,
well, the 49ers completed a trade
to acquire defensive tackle.
OSA, a diggy Zua from the Dallas Cowboys.
He's a fifth year defensive tackle.
I talked on this podcast.
Upcoming as a little bit surprised
the 49ers did not even tender Kalea Davis
as a defensive tackle after he started every game
for them last season.
Well, now we know why.
The 49ers acquire a really high quality defensive tackle
from the Dallas Cowboys.
Listen, Matt, I was watching Matt Meoco
on our YouTube Twitch and Twitter stream.
You should be watching.
We are multimedia.
He's a handsome guy.
But he was listening to himself with a critical ear.
You could hear him like seeing, watching,
furrowing his brow.
How do I sound here?
Matt, how did you sound?
How was your analysis of yourself there?
Buddy, good morning.
Yeah, just horrible.
I can't think and not listen to myself.
The sound of your own voice, right?
Yes.
Probably shouldn't say that.
Because if I can't listen to myself,
how do I expect other people to listen to you?
Your self-loathing is misplaced.
We love listening to you.
And we love that you're listening to KBR.
I am a KBR FM San Francisco,
these sports leader, a cumulus, media station.
Matt, I am in danger of being a homer.
Ha, ha, insert joke here from listeners.
But I really kind of like what the 49ers have been doing.
I really like Mike Evans, despite some who don't.
And I like Osa Odigizua, a former UCLA Bruin.
Talk me out of this.
Are there, are there reasons to dislike these moves
or are they good moves?
Well, first off, Murf, is there such thing like former UCLA
Bruin?
Like a Marine?
Like a Marine, buddy?
Like a Marine?
Yes.
Uh-huh.
Yeah.
No.
And the fact numbers, you know, the first thing to look at
with the 49ers is, how did they improve that past rush?
You know, 20 sacks and 17 games, which is ridiculously low,
worse than a league by far.
You know, they obviously hope that,
and expect Nick Bosa and Michael Williams to return
and help pump up that defensive line.
But what Odigizua, but yeah, that's not
going to have to get this Odigizua brings to the table,
is he can push the pocket.
He is a very good at getting pressure on the quarterback,
which when you bring that pressure from the interior
that helps everybody on that defensive line.
He also is good at stopping the run.
So, you know, a four down player, three down player
for the 49ers in the defensive line.
Not one of these guys that you just automatically
in passing situations take off the field.
So, yeah, for them to give them a third round pick
to get a guy who doesn't have any guaranteed money
left on his deal, but is signed through the 20, 28 season.
That's, I think a pretty good move.
There's, what you also have to look at is,
it doesn't appear to be a great draft for defensive tackles.
I don't think, I mean, there's a strong chance
a defensive tackle will not be taken
in the first round of this draft.
So, you know, if they were looking like
what they need to beat that up,
he's better than anybody that they could have gotten
in this upcoming draft.
So, to give up a third round pick,
which is about where maybe they would have taken
a defensive tackle.
It's hard to poke holes in that move.
Matt, last year Matt Eberfluss was with the Dallas Cowboys.
He's now with the San Francisco 49ers.
How much influence do you think that he had on the straight?
Oh, there's no question.
Yeah, I know if he, if he had said,
yeah, not the kind of guy you want,
then I don't think they would have gotten down that road.
So, yeah, I know I think they use all their, their intel
when it comes to acquiring players,
people they know around the league.
Certainly anybody on the staff
who's had interactions or knows the person,
all those people are consulted.
You know, they, in addition to getting the football player
they want, they also want the kind of person
that they can rely on and count on
and know what they're getting on a day-to-day basis.
So, I would, I would be shocked if Matt Eberfluss
wasn't involved as far as just like,
hey, we had this opportunity.
What do you think?
And if he would have said, yeah, thumbs down on this guy,
then that's probably what it ended right there.
You know, why is that?
What don't you like about him,
but instead is probably more,
okay, what, what do you like about him?
What, how does he fit?
What kind of person are we getting?
Yeah, quick follow up on Matt Eberfluss
because we got that news last Friday
that he would be joining the 49ers
as the assistant head coach.
So, Matt, was there a reaction to that addition
to the defense?
Yeah, it was interesting because I mean,
think about where their staff has been in the last three years.
You know, they've managed to carve out this role,
basically assistant head coach and defense
with former head coaches.
You know, two years ago, it was Brandon Staley.
Last year was Gus Bradley,
and now it's Matt Eberfluss.
So, yeah, Calcini had seems to really like
what they started there,
Braini and Brandon Staley.
You know, some new ideas,
somebody who sat in that chair before,
somebody that, I'm sure,
Shanahan leans on and just uses
as a sounding board for a lot of things.
So, you know, I don't know the background
as far as how long Calcini and his known Nat Eberfluss,
obviously he's gone up against him in several locations,
but it kind of goes in, keeps in stride
with what the players have done here
in the past three years.
So, I got a Matt Mayo Cove NBC Sports Bay area.
Of course, you see him on the TV.
You listen to his pod and you hear him here
on the sports leader on the Uma Gas Line.
Give me the, I mean, I'm high on Mike Evans.
I've always liked him.
I mean, I go by my, here's my hardcore analysis,
my fantasy football rule.
I always want him.
All right, that's my fantasy football rule.
But give me a cynics take, Matt,
I'm forcing you to put on a cynics hat here.
Give me a, is there any negative spin on this acquisition?
Yeah, he's 33 years old.
And the 49ers did not get younger and faster.
So, that's the negative spin.
But as far as the production goes,
I mean, you talk about having him on your fantasy team.
I mean, there's probably only nine receivers
in the history of pro football.
You'd want to over him on your fantasy team
because that's where Mike Evans ranks 10th all time
in receiving touchdowns.
So, yeah, the downside is that it's very difficult
for wide receivers to maintain that level of play
into their 30s.
I would say the difference with Mike Evans is,
you know, he's never been a speed burner.
He hasn't shrunk any, you know,
one of his big qualities is he's six foot five,
two, I mean, 30 pounds.
And so, he's not going to be six foot three
coming to the 49ers.
So, he gives Brock Pretty a really nice target
for those back shoulder throws, for the fades,
going up over smaller defensive backs and making catches.
So, probably a very reliable and open target,
even when he's covered, he's, yeah,
even when he's covered, he's still open.
So, that's a really good outlet for Brock Pretty to have.
But, you know, a guy who has been an Iron Man
throughout his career,
last year was the first time he missed extended playing time.
I had the broken collarbone, also hamstring injury
with Tampa Bay.
But, yeah, I would say, you know, the downside is
that exactly that, that, you know, he is older
and the upside is, you know, I think when the contract
actually comes out and everybody can really see it,
it probably amounts to a one year,
$16 million contract.
And if he's not all that, then, you know,
it might only be a one year deal.
Of course, you know, for our side in that deal,
they hope, you know, it lasts three years.
But, for what they needed,
and I don't think it precludes them from drafting
a wide receiver either.
So, you know, I think they're still looking at that,
to that wide receiver mix and the upside all stuff.
Especially, you know, really good pro,
good presence in the wide receiver room.
You know, not the Giva type of receiver
that perhaps we've seen here in the past.
But, yeah, it does, it's not just a 100 out of 100 acquisition.
It does come with a little bit of risk as well.
Matt, does the signing of Mike Evans
mean that the 49ers are moving on from Joanne Jennings
or is that door still open for a possible reunion?
Yeah, I don't know how it stays open at this point.
There hasn't been any chatter that I've heard of.
Maybe as soon as I get off the air,
there will be some news on Joanne Jennings.
But, you know, what they've paid for Mike Evans,
I mean, they're very similar.
I would think even for Jennings, you know,
it's always difficult when a guy asks for something,
heading into the final year of his contract,
the team doesn't give it to him.
And then he reaches the open market.
So, I would say that the market would really have to dry up
in order for Joanne Jennings to come back to the 40 winners.
Matt Meyoko, give us your best assessment
of the Brandon Iyuk situation.
What can the 49ers, I should phrase this, rephrases.
How can the 40 winners maximize their position
in the Brandon Iyuk situation?
I think they already have, to be honest with you.
I think that, you know, by voiding his future guarantees,
they from what the middle of last season,
they don't owe him another penny.
You know, they get some of those cap credits back.
I just don't know that any team
would be willing to trade for him.
You know, quite clearly, they think that maybe,
if they hold on to him, that there is that possibility.
A lot of talk about the Washington commanders.
That's really about the only team
that you hear anything about.
To me, even for the commanders, I just wonder,
you know, does the risk outweigh the reward?
And I'm not sure it does.
And this is why the commanders that put so much
on the plate of Jaden Daniels, you know, in 2024,
he had a great rookie season.
And the commanders exceeded all expectations,
make it to the NSE championship game.
Last year his play dropped off significantly.
He was also injured for half the season as well.
Jaden Daniels had his own problems.
He needs to, you know, there's enough on his plate as it is.
There's enough pressure on that young man
to come back to that rookie season form.
Do you really want to also stack that added burden
of having your best friend vouching for your best friend
or one of your best friends to come onto the team?
And now you're kind of responsible for him as well.
It just seems like there's enough on Jaden Daniels plate
that to me, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense
for the commanders to go down that road.
I think there, that would be taking a pretty big risk,
but a risk by, it certainly sounds like they are willing
to take.
Matt, last question for me as we check off
all the 49er boxes, Trent Williams.
The latest we've heard from Adam Shaft
through a couple of days ago is that the 49ers
are not shopping him and a trade is not expected to happen.
So what's the latest you've heard?
And he knows anything noteworthy
on the Trent Williams situation.
Yeah, I think the expectation is, you know,
he will be on the team.
He'll be starting a left tackle that the question is,
what do they have to iron out for it to get there?
I think his bonus is due March 20th.
So not tomorrow, but the next Friday.
Yeah, I mean, I don't know that anybody really ever thought
that Trent Williams was going,
but until it's all buttoned up and both sides are happy
and they sign off on whatever the agreement is,
whether it's Trent Williams getting some guaranteed money,
whether it's the 49ers finding that right solution
to offset some of that guaranteed money
with a lower, lower than $33 million in cash
that they'd be paying for this season.
But until they get to that point,
you know, it's not officially official,
but it certainly sounds like, you know,
you have the two kind of at odds, amps,
you know, obviously coming from Trent Williams side,
it's the things aren't looking good.
You know, he could be traded,
and then John Landship, the combine was just like,
hey, nothing to see here, move on,
everything's going in a positive direction.
So until they reach that middle ground
and find a solution that works for both sides,
it's not a done deal.
But I think the expectation, certainly,
is that Trent Williams will be lighting up the left tackle.
Matt, last one for me is the, is the sort of the margins.
Obviously Mike Evans and Osa Odigizawa
are really fun, gigantic names, right?
But there's a lot of marginal moves.
It's a 53 man roster that wins or loses.
Skymore left, he's a special team's guy.
Kendrick Born left, he was a great locker room guy.
They're letting Khalia Davis walk.
Robert Beale, I think son with Tennessee, right?
Is that right?
Yeah.
Meanwhile, they brought in this guy.
Miami, I think, wasn't it?
Okay, somebody went to Tennessee.
Who was it?
Who was that?
That would have been.
Is that Khalia Davis?
Anyway.
No, why am I drawing up like Jordan L.A.?
Jordan L.A., thank you very much, thank you.
Okay, so then bring it in.
They bring in this guy, Viderian Lo swing tackle
from New England, you know, Brett Toff,
interesting guy from the Eagles at a West Point
who comes with a pretty good report card.
They, they resigned Eddie Piniero.
They obviously, we mentioned,
they resigned Jake Tonjes.
So the margins moves.
The ones that aren't the headline grabbers,
Evans and OSA are the headline grabbers.
What's your evaluation of the margin moves?
Are they gaining more than they losing?
Are they losing more than they're gaining?
How do you evaluate the margin moves?
Well, I think they've gained at this point more than they've lost.
But, you know, the margin moves you're talking about,
probably doesn't happen week one of free agency.
A year ago, when I was on this show on the Thursday
of free agency, they probably would have said,
and I probably did say that the 40 United States roster
is a lot worse than it was when the week began.
Remember, they lost Aaron Banks.
They lost Javon Hartgraid.
They lost Malik Collins.
They lost Leonard Floyd.
They lost Ray Greenlock.
They lost Chair Barry Sward.
They lost Talon O'Havonga.
That's a lot of losses.
But then what happened was the 40 United States ended up
signing these guys and drafting some guys,
you know, signing some guys that maybe you've never even heard of.
And I was blown away last year with that,
with all of the injuries that they had,
their deaths kept them right there in the mix
for the number one seed entering week 18.
So sometimes what you think is happening
isn't exactly how it plays out.
A year ago, I would have thought the 40 United States
are so top heavy, their death is gonna be awful.
Turned out, their death was pretty good
because the guys like Jake Taun just stepping in.
And obviously Mac Jones stepping in.
And you know, some of the acquisitions
they made a wide receiver, you know, Tatum Batoon
and D Winners played well when given opportunities.
Up to the doubt as a rookie plays pretty well.
So the point is you don't really know
until the game start.
But I would say, you know, let's go ahead and say it,
you know, losing John Jennings replacing him with Mike Evans.
That's not bad at all.
Losing Jordan Elliott and Cleopatra Davis
and replacing him with, you know, Odegi Zua.
That's pretty good, especially when you elevate Alfred Collins
from, you know, a top tier backup role to now a starter.
So it'll play out, but a lot of the names
that will kind of float under the radar here
in the next week or two will end up being guys
who have a chance to establish themselves
as quality backups for this team.
And you don't know it until you actually see them
with the 40 Vatters in that system,
being deployed in the way the 49ers envision them
being deployed.
Matt, I lied.
I've got one last question for you.
But it's not a football question.
It's a big question.
Oh boy, very good.
I got to ask, have you been keeping up with team Italy
in the World Baseball Classic?
I tuned over yesterday and saw them put up
some big numbers.
Unfortunately, maybe now I can turn it on
and kind of sit down and watch.
I've been just so transfixed with what's going on
on the NFL scene.
But I did check out those jerseys.
And I was like, I wonder how I'd look
in one of those Italia jerseys.
How about the clean blue hat?
Even though it's Dodger colors.
The clean blue with the white eyes.
It's pretty nice.
You don't have to say, hey, it's not Dodger hat.
It's like, yeah, you know what?
That's a good call.
I'm going to be, I'm going to be heading to Italy
this season.
So maybe I'll, maybe I'll think, oh,
I'm, I should probably check in with you.
Do I have to tell you this?
I'm going from Italy to Ireland.
Oh, wait, what days are you going to be there?
See, I will be there.
I think it is in Ireland, a late June, early July.
Wow, just the Murphy's are taking a historic chip
to Ireland in June.
But we'll miss you because we're mid-June.
So miss you.
Okay.
I'll leave you.
I'll leave.
I'll tell the bartender.
I'll leave a few quid and say, by the guy, by that,
when that guy walks in, buy him a pint.
Yeah, leave your tap open.
Perfect.
Perfect.
Now we'll talk.
We'll talk, buddy.
We'll talk.
Okay.
All right.
Well, listen, hey, you know, I'm in 49ers.
It's, you know, they're doing some stuff.
Trent Williams situation remains significant.
Obviously, we'll see what they do with Ayuk and the petty behavior there.
But, you know, Mike Evans and Odigg and Zua are big names and, um,
and we'll see what happens next.
So thanks, man.
Yeah.
What happened?
Some other stuff.
You know, Bryce, Bryce Hoff.
You got to kind of figure out what's going on with that contract situation.
But that, you know, that's one of the things to kind of keep an eye on as well.
All right, man.
Good stuff.
Thanks for the hit.
Okay.
Thanks guys.
Appreciate it.
Steve a room was light.
It got heavier.
D line room was light.
It got heavier.
Now you lost Khalia Davis and Jordan Elliott.
But let's be honest, that's, and they're nice players, but they were part of a line that
we all deemed to be insufficient.
Yeah.
And oh, diggy Zua is a clear upgrade over those two guys.
And then he said he's moving up Alfred Collins, et cetera, too.
So, all right, guys, here's the deal.
That's what Matt May I have to say?
What's your reaction?
One more nine or hit.
We got to get into some world baseball classic stuff and giant stuff at 930.
I think the freaking Giants World Baseball Classic a bunch of team USA pitchers just left the roster today. I saw that. Yeah, man. Yeah, I'm available.
If Mark Dorosa needs me for an inning, I'll go win a game for my country. Let's react to some of the stuff Matt had to say. Also Todd Archer joined us from ESPN Dallas to talk about OSA. And we'll get into that too. Next on these portion.
